  • How I launch my Seawych onto a slipway when the tide is out. I realised that 4 blocks on the ground is better than 2.
Someone else was present, but I completed this alone (although I did ask for him to kick one of the chocks out at one point).
I dont know if this method will work with other bilge keelers? but I know it does on a Seawych as the keels are vertical, and not splayed out (like Hurleys, etc).
This video is an accurate demonstration of what I do.
Got to love mucking about in small boats.

Well done.! Attache a line to the rear blocks and you won't have to go swimming for them when the boat floats.

Cumbersome, but inovative and gets the job done.

Agreed- far easier to just roll the whole lot in on a rope and float the boat off. I m just trying to stop the long term damage to the trailer. But this way does get the job done 👍

She is for sure- not a mark on this little boat. Even that original gel coat is mirror shiny. There is nothing left to do on this boat but sail her.

Uhm, ok,,, now what? You wait 8-12 hours for the water to rise? Why not trailer it into the water at a proper ramp? None available?

Usually, the boat is dropped onto the slip with the tide still behind the keels. That gives me an hour or so to raise the mast and be ready to go before shes afloat. The reason is to protect the trailer. The suspension, brakes are obsolete so can’t be replaced. The chassis is not galvanised either. I fear it would rot from the inside out. Shallower ramps are easier for this kind of launch.

I suppose this is for when you can't do exactly what you say, it's an option. I like the single handed approach to it.

Where is the winch attached to?

The hand puller hooks onto the short lifting strop that’s wrapped around the bow post. The fixed hand winch is bolted to a post that is made up of flat steel plate that is u-bolted to the trailer. I welded the vertical mounting post to the flat plate, then bolted the winch on top. I can slacken the flat plate u-bolts to slide back/forth as needed. Where it is seems ok.
