For consistency, I think they should have found a middle ground between this design and Zero Suit Samus artworks portrait in Samus Returns. There, Zero Suit does not look nearly as she in Smash and is far for the design in other M which is the one I personal most dislike.
I like Samus' new face, she looks like the kind of person who had to live through hell to get where she is now, atleast that's the vibe she has in this one for me.
slightly different in animation because in the og she is holding her helmet (which makes no sense because the suit is connected to her body which is explained in stuff like other m) and now she just makes phase off kinda like a hologram.
I think, the only thing I wish they encorporated from her newer designs, since it's basically canon now, is her beauty mark. Definitely feel that's a staple of Samus now. Other than that? Love how they went for a remaster of her original Prime design. Though, it's gonna be odd going specifically into corruption, where her face is almost identical to her Smash Bros Brawl counterpart, if I remember rightly. Speaking of corruption, when we finally get there, I'm so stoked to see how they decide to do the facial effects for her various stages of corruption. They always looked super gnarly and I can only imagine how much more detail they'll load into the remaster of Corruption! In echoes? Dark Samus remastered sounds super exciting! I prefer her corruption design, but her more "skeletal" look in echoes will look SUPER cool with the attention to detail getting added to certain enemies (like the massive Parasite Queen glow up!) And Samus' Suits in Echoes are going to look AMAZING!
I don't even think it's identical, I think they just straight up used the Samus model created for Brawl as her look in Prime 3. It definitely will be interesting seeing what route they take with her design later on that's for sure.
Wow. The new look for Samus looks more classic than the classic! Also I just realized that the end acreen with her picture sounds like the Pokémon theme!
It looks good! Though I wish her facial expressions were more expressive. 1:23 despite the lower polygon count, the original version’s Samus seems more lifelike to me.
It's super interesting they went the realistic route. It must indicate they're going that way for 4 and the potential other remasters which have more human characters. That means Nintendo will have a more realistic looking IP under for their belt for the first time in I don't know how long. It's funny in the credits there were some Nintendo of Japan people in charge of supervising the Samus look. Knowing how controlling they are over their brands and mascots, she must have gone quite a few iterations for them to be satisfied ! 😆
They probably went this route to stay faithful to the original. They didn't do much of anything to bring it in line with future releases. The power suit design is Prime 1, rather than updating it to match 2 and 3 for example. Going by stuff like that, it's clear they wanted to stay as close to the original as possible.
Like what they did here. They created a perfect balance between the blonde anime version and the old school human version. This should be Samus face from now on, she looks mature, realistic and focused. I fear the people that are complaining could ruin that.
Samus face went from full of expression to no expression at all. In the modern age of media, women aren't allowed to express ANY feelings whatsoever. It's so off-putting. She looks completely bored in the remastered version compared to the original where she seems shocked and then accepts with a heavy heart that her people's once place of residence in now completely destroyed.
Thanks, I hate it. Eyes are more emotional but weird. Hair is missing the front locke and looks like straw. Lips are generic. Nose has lost its angle. She went from Uma Thurman to Emily Blunt.
Did they completely redo her face everywhere else? This scene is being portrayed as a great gender/face reveal. But you can see Samus face and her gender throughout the whole game. If an enemy gets too close or when you shoot point blank at a wall you can see Samus face looking back at you through the reflection in her helmet. She's very expressive, looks around etc. I'm more interested in what face I see while I'm playing than whoever that's supposed to be at the end.
Who knew a remaster of Prime would bring us some of the best facial modelling for the Switch, Samus almost looks on par with the sort of facial detail you'd find on a character in something like TLOU or RDR2, which is crazy for the switch.
HA , and people told me it was ridiculous to say Nintendo made Samus look less delicate. To suggest that they make her look less like a super model. Telling me "that is just how she looked in the original Metroid Prime made by Retro." Well look at that jaw line , and look who's laughing now! 😝
This is the one thing I always thought was pretty jank about the original game. It looked like something they only had a quick afternoon to spit out. Definitely an improvement here, visually at least, but the body language is largely the same (a little meh) and honestly the proportions of the head in the original are better. (Not the *detail.* The proportions.) Her forehead slopes back more in the new version and makes her uglier, along with higher-detail hair that manages to look worse than the original. Nose is definitely a downgrade as it sticks out more and is pointier. They should have just taken a good close look at Samus in Smash Bros. or even the post-Prime games and used them as a guide.
Have to say I prefer Samus' modern design so I was hoping we would be seeing her current face at the end of the game. The fire and smoke looks a lot better in the crater but for some reason the destruction doesn't seem like it damaged the structure as much.
I think I am in the minority here to say that I prefer the old face because it is less realistic, because afterMetroid 2 Nintendo didn't intend to make her design realistic, so while the new face is impressive, it doesn't feel very Metroid
This design is most likely because it’s a remaster of the original GC version. If we get a remaster of Echoes, it would most likely be based off her modern design.
It is a big improvement, but also fails in the same way. The facial structure doesn't match Samus from the rest of the series, which is why it still feels 'off'. I much prefer the realistic, 200lbs of muscle Samus how she was classically portrayed, but the face bone structure doesn't match in the original make, nor in the remaster.
IDK, something just felt off for me when I see both versions of Samus from Metroid Prime. I'm just like, where does the Smash Bros Zero Suit Samus even come from then, 2D Metroid? I'm just more accustomed to Samus (Zero Suit) model from Smash Bros than Metroid Prime.
I really don’t like the new face. She looks way older. Considering she is 18-20 when Prime happens, it doesn’t fit canon Other than that the remaster was absolutely amazing. Every second of it (And no Prime doesn’t happen 10 years after Zero Missio , originally they wanted it to make it that long, but it was scrapped as the 2D games clearly stated that less than a year went by between Samus Returns and Zero Mission haben here the prime games are located) A neat detail in the remaster is, that samus isn’t holding her helmet. Since new lore states that she can dematerialize the suit at will and that it is part of her body (her second skin organically bound to her) they changed it to fit Fusions, Zero Missions, Prime 3s, Other Ms canon
@OvertureDT she looked like a mature woman in the og, now she just looks like a 40 yr old. And is missing her jawline and neck. That's my only complaint.
I agree with everyone else - this is a major improvement. Samus doesn’t need to be overly sexualised, she looks like an amazing badass warrior which fits her character more than sexy lady in skimpy 2 piece outfit
@@VincCachipiruli …no? Nobody said that lol. But the reason everyone is talking about the new face isn’t because “oh new face”, but because the original (more so in Prime 2 and then 3) was heavily criticised for making Samus appear too overly sexualised. There was no need really.
Of course, the remaster is technically better in detail. Samus's face, however, did not improve this time. I think her face in terms of beauty was much better in the original and well-designed. Let's just be thankful that they didn't go with the Prime 2 face. Her new eyebrows push out from her forehead to an extent that really hinders the sense of feminine gentleness. Yeah, I know; my girl blows up planets and commits genocide. Big deal. That's not the point. I'm sure I'm not the only one who prefers the prior design's robust beauty. I'm not complaining, just commenting on a video about comparing new and old. EDIT: Maybe the eyebrows aren't AS pronounced as I implied before, but the eye area is still a miss for me.

It looks good! Though I wish her facial expressions were more expressive. 1:23 despite the lower polygon count, the original version’s Samus seems more lifelike to me.
Did the Dark Samus reveal always have that scanline effect on Wii?
they kinda did a bad job on the blue gooey shader in the remake. it’s just a simple fresnel without all the variation of the original.
Now she looks like an actual person
Her face in *Smash Bros* is much better IMO.
darn i have the wii version and gamecube version not switch :(
It's super interesting they went the realistic route.
Hey, can you upload a comparison video of the Game Over screen for this game please?
Lol Samus kinda reminds me to Kim from Better call Saul, not complaining
Wow, no mole. Intriguing.
I liked the original face. Wish they kept it
Like what they did here.
They created a perfect balance between the blonde anime version and the old school human version. This should be Samus face from now on, she looks mature, realistic and focused.
I fear the people that are complaining could ruin that.
Are all the effects that were in the gamecube version but not on the wii due to limitations back?
I think it had to do with the amount of space available on the disc. MP3 has some effects removed as well.
She looks awesome
The face looks like I'd imagine the original in HD, 'cept they fixed the weird cheek thing going on with her.
They changed some of the animations. Samus stance while sprinting to her Ship are more aggressive, faster than in the og version.
It's the same face
Who knew a remaster of Prime would bring us some of the best facial modelling for the Switch, Samus almost looks on par with the sort of facial detail you'd find on a character in something like TLOU or RDR2, which is crazy for the switch.
HA , and people told me it was ridiculous to say Nintendo made Samus look less delicate.
To suggest that they make her look less like a super model.
Telling me "that is just how she looked in the original Metroid Prime made by Retro."
Well look at that jaw line , and look who's laughing now! 😝
Why they change Samus Face in every Game except smash?
Kind of reminds me of Debra Ann Woll, I think she would be perfect to play Samus Aran in a live action
She looks really cool now
This is the one thing I always thought was pretty jank about the original game.
You guys do know that you can see Samus face if you fire a missile close to the wall, right?
Have to say I prefer Samus' modern design so I was hoping we would be seeing her current face at the end of the game. The fire and smoke looks a lot better in the crater but for some reason the destruction doesn't seem like it damaged the structure as much.
Can anyone else feel how she feels based on her expression in the remaster? I can see in the og but feel in the remaster.
Nobody mentioning the way she takes of her helmet is different? Rather noticeable detail
I prefer the Smash Bros look for Samus.
Interesting thumbnail
It is a big improvement, but also fails in the same way. The facial structure doesn't match Samus from the rest of the series, which is why it still feels 'off'. I much prefer the realistic, 200lbs of muscle Samus how she was classically portrayed, but the face bone structure doesn't match in the original make, nor in the remaster.
Finally a new game for Captain Falcon... though I don't get why they had to replace Samus
Oh wow! That’s pretty good!
Not to be that guy, but she looks beautiful in the remaster
pretty awesome but i feel like it would be better if the room was darker
I don't like either face
IDK, something just felt off for me when I see both versions of Samus from Metroid Prime. I'm just like, where does the Smash Bros Zero Suit Samus even come from then, 2D Metroid?
I'm just more accustomed to Samus (Zero Suit) model from Smash Bros than Metroid Prime.
I love the new look of Samus without helmet!
Whats up with the captain falcon in the thumbnail? lol
Its some in-joke that they do all the time
It's a joke they use to hide spoilers
I really don’t like the new face. She looks way older. Considering she is 18-20 when Prime happens, it doesn’t fit canon
Other than that the remaster was absolutely amazing. Every second of it
(And no Prime doesn’t happen 10 years after Zero Missio , originally they wanted it to make it that long, but it was scrapped as the 2D games clearly stated that less than a year went by between Samus Returns and Zero Mission haben here the prime games are located)
A neat detail in the remaster is, that samus isn’t holding her helmet. Since new lore states that she can dematerialize the suit at will and that it is part of her body (her second skin organically bound to her) they changed it to fit Fusions, Zero Missions, Prime 3s, Other Ms canon
She didn't look remotely like an 18-20 year old in the OG Prime 1 either.
@@SuntoryKick Yeah true.
@@theakiwar9118 it's not a good reason to not change her outdated face
Yeah I agree, I think she looks much older for some reason, and I just don’t like it as much
@OvertureDT she looked like a mature woman in the og, now she just looks like a 40 yr old. And is missing her jawline and neck. That's my only complaint.
I agree with everyone else - this is a major improvement. Samus doesn’t need to be overly sexualised, she looks like an amazing badass warrior which fits her character more than sexy lady in skimpy 2 piece outfit
That's her point. She's sexy powerful warrior. She's peak human.
Something wrong with women being beautiful and strong at the same time? Why it would not be realistic?
@@VincCachipiruli …no? Nobody said that lol. But the reason everyone is talking about the new face isn’t because “oh new face”, but because the original (more so in Prime 2 and then 3) was heavily criticised for making Samus appear too overly sexualised. There was no need really.
@@Fruitman1997 it's began since Zero Mission
Seeing her face in 3D still weirds me out
FIRST!
INFINITE BULLHORNS AND BULLET BILLS!
Guys that new face will most likely be the samus of future metroid games, forget the echoes and corruption design
Samus looks like ronda rousey
😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How many times do I have to tell you that F-Zero is dead!
F-ZERO IS DEAD!!!
No! shut up
Ah, spoiling the ending, are we? Never change GameXplain
It's 21 years old game...
@@KazzKobb that some people haven't played yet
@@clark9121 The video title says ENDING lol
@@KazzKobb I'm talking about the thumbnail revealing what Samus' face looks like in the ending
@@clark9121 How this is a spoiler, we know Samus' face looks like since the first metroid ending
Her hair looks far better in the original.
I’ve always liked the ending with the protomol…. I mean phazon.
