Medium to high dual stick controls with low-sensitivity gyroscopic aim on top is incredibly natural. I can make those slight adjustments for hitting ranged things that the stick would overshoot at sensitivities high enough to turn around. I can press right on the right stick to quickly turn, but at range that results in a harder time hitting precisely. With motion aim on top, I can have ranged precision AND fast turning. Because the motion controls are the low-sensitivity controls, they don't get in the way of normal gameplay like if you'd reversed the sensitivities. This closes the gap between a mouse and a controller because one of the most critical deficits the controller has is the inability to ratchet up speed. A mouse can be aimed with the fingers, wrist, elbow, or shoulder with progressively higher speed movements as needed. A control stick lacks this capability entirely. With the invention of gyroscopic aim, however, it can do what a hand or wrist could have done with a mouse without sacrificing the elbow or shoulder aim speeds a mouse would also have.
I think my favorite part is how different the Plasma Beam looks. In the Gamecube and Trilogy versions, it just looks like molten rock in-between the spaces in the arm cannon, but in the remaster, it looks like actual flowing magma, it looks incredible.

It really did. The model for Samus in the GC game was 9-10k triangles which is super high for that gen (The normal amount was 2-4k). That model appears in every cutscene and whenever you switch out of morphball mode. Although the models used for the multiplayer in MP2 or the reflections from the Chozo Ruins in MP1 use a low-poly model.

I actually don't care for them changing Ridley's head to a more purple color. I liked that Meta Ridley had such a different color scheme from his fully organic form, with it mostly being grays and silvers with the yellow popping out on his eyes, wings, and chests. Plus, him having a literal chrome dome just looks cool.
I think the developers for the Remastered version wanted to show Meta Ridley as a patchwork cyborg, with his organic parts contrasting with the mechanical ones. I also like his original design and I think it still looks good, but the new design is more on line with the Space Pirates' modus operandi. They only care about results, so it makes sense that they would gather Ridley's body parts and just merge them with machine parts. It also makes Meta Ridley more distinct from the Ridley robot we see in Zero Mission (which was completely mechanical).
@@96Vladek You can see organic bits in the original, but I can understand making his head purple as well to showcase that. It is kind of hard to see his limbs when he's busy either flying in the air or charging into you. The space pirates probably would have to be a little careful with how they made Ridley look, considering he is sentient. If I remember correctly you can find a scan talking about how Ridley is pleased by the job they've done on him. If he wasn't, he'd probably chuck them out the airlock without a space suit.
It might also be to maintain parity with other depictions of Meta-Ridley, namely as he appears in Smash Brothers Brawl and Ultimate and Corruption, as well as bring more of a contrast between him and Mecha Ridley, who is almost entirely silver and more of an "in-between" of Mecha Ridley and Proteus Ridley.
Fantastic Remaster but it would have been awesome if they did what Halo 1 and 2 Anniversary did adding the feature to switch between the Orignal Graphics and the new. Still very satisfied with it non the less. Hope we get Prime 2 + 3 in HD on the switch soon!
Here's hoping they make her more badass in prime 4. Something like dread would be hard to beat. After so long waiting, I'm hoping 4 isnt just more of 1 2 and 3. I'd love an upgraded feel to it.
@@netweed09 it hasn't come out haha. The trailer looks like more 1 2 and 3 tbh. Aside from that story line which I'm all in for. Mocktroids behind Sylux?? I'm sold either way haha. But I want some melee attacks and some slides like in dread. It'd be so cool the have a sprint button too
@@albertorodriguez3927 Yea, she definitely needs a Sprint! Like Link's jump Button duck lol. Despite looking the _slightest_ bit zippier in that trailer We need more mobility , it would be a bit of a chore and not satisfying having to morph Ball round any larger expansive areas for minutes on end in real time.
@@netweed09 exactly! A lot of that is missing in the previous installments. Like it'd be so cool to arm cannon bash a space pirate, slide under another immediately into morphball and bomb drop behind you only to jump out and grapple to another opponent. It's unlikely to be the case for this game, but a gamer can dream lmao
@@albertorodriguez3927 Yep , the issue is they stick to the 'tried and tested' too much, simply expecting you to Morph Ball and drop bombs and morph out to mix things up again. Combat should be refined as you said. I just want that wonderful script back where a significant threat appears and Samus' visor dramatically flashes and she does the code typing onto her armpad thing. 😎 Anyhow , at least it all looks Fantastic this time round and with a fresh new insight over a very Mysterious villain.
I love how the story of Metroid Prime 1 is basically, a symbiote fell on Samus and assimilated with her suit, turning into Bully Aran after having fought a Titan. Most of this whole mission is she's really just trolling the space pirates that're pooping their pants when she finally gets to their homeworld. Then after the final boss, Metroid Prime basically became like Venom and possess the phazon suit there after!
The only thing I don't like about the remaster is how toned down a lot of the effects are, in both scale and opacity. Other than that it's nearly perfect
I loved many elements about the Remaster. I’d say my only complaints were the lighting issues (especially in Phazon Mines), the triple shot feature before a charged shot, the lighting effects on a charged beam (in the original version it lit up areas around you), and finally how expressive they made the eyes in the original vs the visor seen in the Remastered cinematics.
I may be an idiot for waiting to play this masterpiece till the physically release but dammit I don't exactly trust Nintendo to honor me a digital game forever, that and if one day I ever homebrew my switch I'd rather have most of my games in case my account gets banned off of my switch
I dunno about that, Samus looked pretty dim while she was literally on fire, as her armour burned up in the remaster. It feels like her suit should be reflecting a lot more light in that scene, but not quite as much as the original version.
Cuando jugué el remaster pensé que se veía igual original y ahora con esta comparativa puedo apreciar el gran trabajo que hicieron por adaptar y corregir varias carencias de la epoco
One of the first games that I played was Metroid Prime, and I always loved the graphics. The new version is ALMOST exactly the same. The narrator is kind of annoying, and that is basically the only thing that bugs me. When I first played it, though (the GameCube one), I never knew Samus was a girl! So that's why I was so happy at the end of the game whenever she took off her helmet and I found that out! Knowing at the beginning kind of ruins the memory of not knowing, I honestly thought Samus was a robot. There goes my childhood surprise 😆
Special effects with her. The games are massive like the asteroid that’s in the beginning of the game looks more detailed in the Wii port Remastered’s model, a Simas is much darker for some reason, but then environments are much brighter. Good change special effects are massively different though, especially when she transforms back into her Varia suit honestly, the Wii version looks better during transformations special effects and light on Samus
One aspect I full heartily enjoy in Trilogy (I know how minor it sounds but stick with me), is the spring ball, sure its minor but in prime 2, the spring ball alone made the whole game a pleasant hike, my shins are fucked up but my entire legs aren't fucked up, even in prime 2, the constant dread I get when I have to deal with that one boss, sure its passable without the spring ball but its frustrating without. With spring ball, I find myself playing all 3 games and I say "they are all good"
I don't think talking about the Spring Ball is unimportant, it was a great quality-of-life addition. Honestly, I also thought the motion controls for Trilogy were way bettter than the classic controls, and that's more important for me than "preserving the intended difficulty" of the original game.
@@96Vladek That is true but I am harping on one boss where its not only a puzzle boss but its also timed, so much so the morphball bombs can feel really taxing, on the gamecube I was lucky. A quality of life for certain and I agree on the motion controls, sure there is merely a visual loss in prime1, but the games feel just as fine.
The only thing I think looks worse is the ice beam charge animation (compared to GameCube since Wii did not have the charge beam effects for some reason), although the new frozen enemy effect looks fantastic
Metroid Prime was a good example of "Show; don't tell." It didn't need two hours of cutscenes to tell the story, we got the story by playing, scanning creatures and artifacts, and exploring the world. It's my favorite game from that generation.
more 20 year and getting the Phazone suit still better in the orgianl version, love see Samus Suffer with all the Phazone and controlling it in the end

Damn, the OG still lookin hot off the grill.
Here's hoping they make her more badass in prime 4. Something like dread would be hard to beat. After so long waiting, I'm hoping 4 isnt just more of 1 2 and 3. I'd love an upgraded feel to it.
*And heck they delivered!!* 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳😎😎
The Drifts look incredible
I love how the story of Metroid Prime 1 is basically, a symbiote fell on Samus and assimilated with her suit, turning into Bully Aran after having fought a Titan. Most of this whole mission is she's really just trolling the space pirates that're pooping their pants when she finally gets to their homeworld. Then after the final boss, Metroid Prime basically became like Venom and possess the phazon suit there after!
Everything is perfect, excpet Samus face
I have played this game for years and I never knew there was dialogue in the opening and ending in certain regions
The only thing I don't like about the remaster is how toned down a lot of the effects are, in both scale and opacity. Other than that it's nearly perfect
just imagine if this remaster was done for PC...
Very much of topic, but I really wonder how do you make a good robocop game. Seeing the metroid suit kinda makes me think about it
The dev team that made Terminator Resistance is making a RoboCop game. They put up a teaser trailer on UA-cam last year.
Samus' stance after the Omega Pirate is different in the original game too.
It's a shame we still need original model Switches to softmod. Glad that's what I got. It's a great game though, hope ya enjoy.
13:25 Wii colorful explosions switch just blue
They really perfected the lighting in the Remaster
I dunno about that, Samus looked pretty dim while she was literally on fire, as her armour burned up in the remaster. It feels like her suit should be reflecting a lot more light in that scene, but not quite as much as the original version.
Cuando jugué el remaster pensé que se veía igual original y ahora con esta comparativa puedo apreciar el gran trabajo que hicieron por adaptar y corregir varias carencias de la epoco
Is it just me or does Omega Pirate have a more Resident Evilish look to him in the Switch version?
Man, when you see it like this it's really quite insane how far they took that remaster. That being said, the original still looks GREAT!
During the console wars I proudly owned all three consoles indulging in all the sweet exclusive content each system had to offer...this being of them
Special effects with her. The games are massive like the asteroid that’s in the beginning of the game looks more detailed in the Wii port
Remastered’s model, a Simas is much darker for some reason, but then environments are much brighter. Good change special effects are massively different though, especially when she transforms back into her Varia suit honestly, the Wii version looks better during transformations special effects and light on Samus
I Love Phendrana💙
Everything in prime remastered looks more proportional with everything in classic prime looks physically bigger.
The first thing I was happy about was that they fixed her foot when she lands in the very beginning
I miss the original phazon suit scene. Wish they had used that one over the trilogy version
12:43 makes it look like prime slipped down a hole and accidently cracked itself falling down the shaft. 😂
Gamecube/wii samus model actually really nice for the time
The only thing I think looks worse is the ice beam charge animation (compared to GameCube since Wii did not have the charge beam effects for some reason), although the new frozen enemy effect looks fantastic
game cube acquiring the phazon suit was the best...
2:30 most aesthetic scene in any nintendo game right here
Woah, I had no idea that all the cut scenes together don't even add up to 16 minutes. Crazy.
Metroid Prime was a good example of "Show; don't tell." It didn't need two hours of cutscenes to tell the story, we got the story by playing, scanning creatures and artifacts, and exploring the world. It's my favorite game from that generation.
My jaw dropped when I first saw the new Parasite Queen. Her and the sheegoths look terrifying
Does ANYONE ELSE notice when the ship is landing ay the very beginning, the background dust is blue just like the Metroid Prime 4 official teaser?
The animations seems smoother, but the visuals are lacking something, idk how to explain. i guess is something with the textures or lighting.
more 20 year and getting the Phazone suit still better in the orgianl version, love see Samus Suffer with all the Phazone and controlling it in the end
I just wanna say that even though the remaster IS better quality overall, the pixels were not NEARLY as apparent in the original as this vid makes it out to be. the CRT really did wonders for low resolution stuff
In the first cutscene, Tallon looks way better with the more vivid orange and brighter green/blue zone.
Awesome day to be a fan.
The suit upgrade scenes look better in the original, I don't know why the particles don't sync up to the sound effect in the remaster.
the new one makes the metroids look more edible
I still don't understand why the hell the phazon suit has that huge border on the outline
10:22 what I would’ve given for them to change the cutscene back to its original animation 😂 oh well, still looks sick.
