You need to nuatralize the salt or wash it out the best you can. There's a boat and engine wash/flush that neutralizes salt and may help in getting rid of the salt remaining in the frame. If you don't, it will rust from the inside out. There's salt left behind even if the water drained out. When saltwater evaporates, salt is left behind. At the very least, flush the entire tub with lots and lots of freshwater.
Every part you take off, wash thoroughly then use bicarbonate of soda mix with demineralised water to neutralise everything. Finally spray with a corrosion inhibitor like Bilt Hambers Atom-mac.
Let's hope this comment is read, and listened to. I lived in Florida most of my life and salt water will eat car quick. Had a mid 80s ford that I would use launching my boat all around Tampa Bay and I noticed it having a detrimental effect within a year.
I would put it on a rotisserie and wash and flush it out with a good cleaning solution. The salt inside the frame and body panels will start rusting the metal away. That’s going to be a cool project.
if you are going to do a color change why not go with the Midnight Purple, Bayside Blue or Millennium Jade as they are some of the color options on the 2024 GTR. if you do a color change please make sure you stick with the factor color options for the 2024 model year
@goonzquad What about having the car dipped? If you get it dipped then not only will it strip the paint it should also get rid of any residual salt contamination.
I think your goal of rebuilding this car was very noble. I am glad that you decided to take the better route given the damage that you have to deal with. I also like the color you chose. As for the car and the salt water I would use something on the tub to neutralize the salt. I see many suggesitons mentionted. I mean, you saw some rust forming in the interior so that says something.

I'm sure billy is like okay Simon no more surprise car purchases till i see it. lmao I'm sure someone else has brought it up But salt water is the gift that keeps on giving, you have to make damn sure good and well that all of that metal is properly taken care of, even clean and blow out the weep holes, salts will get stuck in those channels.

Swapping the ‘24 GTR into the flood car is a no brainer. Consider painting or wrapping in Porsche lizard green or race yellow. Both will make the carbon pop!

I think they need to have the car tub dipped in a solution to neutralize the salt residue ! Especially inside the frame where ya cant see !

You need to wash all the frame gaps out and chase it with a wax spray. And I'm all for a midnight purple paint job!
