This is how it is in the world of mechanics. You spend all your time, effort and money on it and it go's ahead and repays you with a grenaded engine. I've been here many, many times!
This reminds me so much of myself in the 1970s. In the late 70s I drove through Windsor Ontario with a 1971 Maverick. In the trunk was a 318 Dodge V8 engine and the trunk lid was in the back seat. Every time I let the clutch out the Maverick wanted to wheelie and at stop lights people were asking me to race! Great video and great memories!
Same good feelings you get watching a man build a log cabin, tend a home garden. Essential skills and mindset for getting everything done. Carry on son. :)
1. If your 'girl' helps you with car stuff, she is a keeper 2. Being a mechanic is cleaning stuff, then cleaning it again. 3. Very nice content, well done
sidestepping the obvious . . . . . top notch editing skill exudes the flair for shadows conflated as color pushing context & making the drama a show stopper. well done. you tell a very, very good story my friend. i also got same challenge with my '94 F150. engine needs out & i am in a backyard on gravel, but this production offered me a good tip that so far had escaped my indulgence to solve independently. thanks for this. i wonder if any of my Saabs will offer up their resource as conveniently as the Fairlane(?) to move the motor when the next phase requires the visit to another gearhead's barn for the consummate effort into the measuring & re-building. coolness in my gratitude your way.
Thank you for answering the age old question as to how far a carb'd 300 six will go before tossing it's lunch: 40 years and 231 billion miles. Still dig the truck, and channel.
I just came across your channel 2 days ago while recuperating from surgery. I also twist my own wrenches. I have a 1996. Jeep Cherokee and your videos really strike a cord with me. I just started watching the video. I’ll get back to you.👍🏻
I’m so sorry your engine went external combustion but i do love your transplant operation. I can watch you all day doing this! BTW I read in the comments section from your prior videos that you tied the knot with Mrs. Fordman! If true I send both of you my blessings and love with well wishes. Please let us know if there eventually are going to be little Fordmans running around under your cars with you who’ll be passing you tools while joining us all watching you fix things!! Peace my younger brother!! My best!!! 🙏🏽
One of the under appreciated side effects of having a reliable engine is if yours does fail, you can find a good used one for reasonable money. 😻 from me and Streetcat
When I was looking for an old truck to get my dad said to get a 300 straight 6 like this, so much room in the engine bay you could work on it in the rain with the hood closed. The last one he had many years ago he was able to pull the pistons and re ring them from the bottom with out removing the head. Next time get some plasti gauge and check the bearing clearances and if necessary do a bearing roll, along with a light cylinder hone and new rings along with the other things you did. Great video as always!!!
I am not a Ford guy, but I like how you get the most Bang for your $ w/your fords. Like your videos. You have a lot of repair savy. Keep bringing your videos.
Trust me I know the feeling, in 06 I bought a 92 ex civic for 500 with a blown engine, found a good motor and swapped it in, about 3 weeks later the transmission went out, had to spend my Christmas bonus on a new trans. But after that I got 6 trouble free years out of it before I sold it.
I was hoping for a new video soon but not under these circumstances. You did a great job getting the truck back on the road. Your cat is like mine, bossy!
Well, you are not going to believe this, after rebuilding my front axle, like your videos, well, I'm pulling out my engine and replacing it as well. Dropped a valve
Wow ! you killed an old Ford 300 6 ,,, that takes some doing !! ,,, I keep reading they are one of the best engines ever made,, but even they can let go ,,, anxious to see how you resolve the problem,, good luck !! 👍🇺🇸
the secret to keeping those 300s running strong is use good oil in them and change it on a regular basis and use a quality oil filter those 300s dont like the cheap stuff and dont rev them to the moon either they are torque motors..
Hoping the cork oil pan gasket seals. I’ve never had luck with cork no what installation methods I’ve used: dry, with a very thin layer of sealant, grease, Vaseline, spray-tack, torqued bolts, hand tightening, dry threads, sealed threads they always seem to leak way too soon again. They are a bit of a dark art to get right so fingers crossed!
Саймон привет 👋, я был приятно удивлён ты подкрашиваешь детали, раньше я за тобой этого не замечал ты выходишь на новый уровень( шутка😊). Удачи тебе дружище и спасибо за видео. Привет из Москвы.
Excellent, evening sorted. Been meaning to ask, if you don't mind, how have you acquired your skills? Self-taught? Mechanic dayjob? Regardless, congrats on the growth on the channel - well deserved.
If anyone's engine is going to explode at least you know your next move. I'm sure my anxiety level is higher just thinking about what to do if mine kaput 😄.
Well Simon it looks like the antifreeze washed out one of the rod bearings and dropped everything bro so that really sucks I hope you put a new clutch and pressure plate and all that stuff in there have the flywheel turned because you have a good little truck by then if not let me know brother I'd be interested
Just think about all the vehicle that is manufactured today... Would we be able to repair it as "easily" in our homes with some tools and some knowledge like you did with this ford truck... They sure are overengineered... I am waiting for the moment when that happens like the young generation fixing up a hybrid or electric car all by themselves saying: " Y'all folks this is my tesla truck I did all the gaskets for it yesterday. Easy PEasy" 🤣 Back in the good old days they not only sold vehicles but cars that could be repaired and last decades and half a mans life if the seasonal maintenances were been taking care of..
Every couple weeks we get a mechanical adventure film! No blabbing, no stupid music. 100% awesome!
Amen.
I absolutely love this truck,im glad it lives on

Love how you removed the trunk lid to convert your car into a pickup LOL!!!

This format is awesome. I don't know if you'll ever get big or rich doing this, but I respect you making them.

Can’t beat those 300 sixes.
I’m so sorry your engine went external combustion but i do love your transplant operation. I can watch you all day doing this!

Hi I am 14 and your videos have inspired me to become a auto mechanic keep up the good work ❤❤❤
I am not a Ford guy, but I like how you get the most Bang for your $ w/your fords. Like your videos. You have a lot of repair savy. Keep bringing your videos.
When I first read the description, I thought it said you had taken a 3 hour drive to procure some _pants._
Wild turkeys 🦃 1:11:57
Guajolotes salvajes 😊
Cheers from North Texas.
GR8 vídeo clip.
Heard you mentioned on Bill Burrs Monday morning Podcast, I was stoked for you. Good to see your name getting out there in a positive way.
Cool shot of the coolant splashing into the pan.
Bad luck man :(
Everything about this channel is sublime!
I'm glad to see the valve cover got proper paint attention.
And that’s is how its done great job young man
I thought it sounded a little weird in the 56 chevy video. Love the content btw. Oh and God bless you buddy!
I love your videos you don’t do a lot of talking. You just do the work I like that your truck turned out nice.
Weve All Been There Dude! End of An Era or Just a New Beginning

Plane ol drywall screws work good for pulling a seal. They’re real sharp and start easy.
Your sedan is a beast!
Oh, I was waiting for your video today))
❤❤❤❤❤❤
A moment of silence for your courageous motor!! It’s gone on to the wide wonder!! New cubic inches coming up!!😉😉
You do great work. Impressive. Love the silent format. A good tip. Use cheap kitty litter to soak up oil. Works great.
Well, you are not going to believe this, after rebuilding my front axle, like your videos, well, I'm pulling out my engine and replacing it as well. Dropped a valve
im sorry dude i really love the videos
Sorry man. Tough luck. You've poured your time and treasure into this truck. Well, guess we know where that 460 is going now!
Awesome video man now this is how videos should be made no back ground music or narrations👍🏿👍🏿....I miss my cat she lived a long life
It was bound to happen, maybe a blessing in disguise?
Lets have a moment of silence for the mighty 300 that fought valiantly through 4 decades of service. 😊
This is why I watch Simon👍👍
Wow ! you killed an old Ford 300 6 ,,, that takes some doing !! ,,, I keep reading they are one of the best engines ever made,, but even they can let go ,,, anxious to see how you resolve the problem,, good luck !! 👍🇺🇸
Ahhhh man, I'm gutted for you. Think you were half expecting this tho. Right, got to go, I have this video to watch😊. Yippee!
Oh sweet heavens that poor sealant tube 19:50
At 51:20 you should have painted
"Powered by FordMAN"😂
Sorry for your engine, but man i love your videos! I know it's not bring back your engine, but it's a little something :)
Nice sounding engine awesome oil pressure!
Hah, and I tought I had a bad day when my single-cylinder motorcycle grenaded the top end. At least it makes for great content. Stay awesome bro.
the secret to keeping those 300s running strong is use good oil in them and change it on a regular basis and use a quality oil filter those 300s dont like the cheap stuff and dont rev them to the moon either they are torque motors..
Haven’t finished the video but we know which one is getting the 460 now😂😂😂😂😂

Love this 👏👏👏 Ryobi should sponsor you .
Nice touch, Powered by Ford, 😉👍
Good job on the swap!
Love the noisy cat.
Excellent work 👍👍👍👍
Well i guess the truck will be the better suited candidate for the 460 now.😂
Should make a wind chime out of the metal chunks from the dead motor.
I'd love to have truck like this, right here in Germany. But they're so stupidly overpriced in my country.
Great work though 👍🏼
I like the truck. Wish I could find one like it. Salt ruins vehicles in the northeast. Vermont.
Busy. Here's a like right now. Im loving your silent movies
Саймон привет 👋, я был приятно удивлён ты подкрашиваешь детали, раньше я за тобой этого не замечал ты выходишь на новый уровень( шутка😊). Удачи тебе дружище и спасибо за видео. Привет из Москвы.
Also go to harbor freight, get this"" pittsburgh Swedish pattern pipe wrench"
Drove its own engine to the scrapyard, thats ironic... I´d say there arent many vehicles that get to do that.
I was thinking to myself is he going to put the trunk lid back on? and methodically put it back on.
Aww darn, guess we'll have to stuff the 460 in it now
Aww SHIT man! That sucks. Better then ever I see
Uncle rodney came to visit
Love it! Great job. I love classic cars, can you tell?
Excellent, evening sorted. Been meaning to ask, if you don't mind, how have you acquired your skills? Self-taught? Mechanic dayjob? Regardless, congrats on the growth on the channel - well deserved.
Thank you for Russian subtitle 👍
Ооо, я ждал твое видео сегодня))
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Круты channel. No Muzik no chat.. only goodnes
If anyone's engine is going to explode at least you know your next move. I'm sure my anxiety level is higher just thinking about what to do if mine kaput 😄.
Too bad Gopher Motors went out of business. You could get a short block for cheap and rebuild that 300.
I love that cat
Well Simon it looks like the antifreeze washed out one of the rod bearings and dropped everything bro so that really sucks I hope you put a new clutch and pressure plate and all that stuff in there have the flywheel turned because you have a good little truck by then if not let me know brother I'd be interested
THE REAL FORDMAN !!! :D

I ❤ simon fordman
Liked for the video.
Subscribed for the cat.
عمل رائع جدا لكن الفورد تحتاج سمكره صاج وطلاء جديد بالتوفيق
I always hated when that happened
I would give you my old 429 for this truck lol
you look like the guy from the band Enjoy on albums like Punk Planet
try ovencleaner next time saves a ton of work👍
Bravo!
Hope you make enough from ad sense to buy another banger !
An extreme cheap-skate would have pulled the head off the old engine and tried to sell it for a hundred.
That's the life of us who buy old, rusty and clapped out stuff for cheap. It sucks but in the long run you're still financially ahead
Yes Yes yes I love these videos 😂🎉
I thought maybe he would drop a 460 in it not a 6 cynider
En mi opinión es mejor instalar el ford v8 460 con el sistema de inyección 😊
I like older FORD...
Almost like in initial d...
you didnt gap the plugs
I don’t suppose you checked the connecting rod nut/bolts for torque? While you had the oil pan off ?
No way a 300 went like that! What caused it, just miles and age?
As far as I could tell, a nut vibrated off the connecting rod cap. But I’m pretty sure this engine was living with loose bearings for a while.
А зачем кота по жопе хлопаешь? Я теперь тоже своего хлопаю... а зачем не знаю)))
She loves it, it’s a cat thing.
Bummer!
