Agree with most everything you say Chris , but the water issue really should be sorted by now with the price of these bikes being what it is.

Its still an electric motor, putting it under water may never be a good idea.
I agree it should not be bothered by water its an off road bike, my dirtbike can go thru 3.5 feet of water no problem.

The first summer I had my Canyon found me taking the wrong path and into a part of the SW Coastal Path definitely not suited, unless you're a trials rider. Amazing views and some very sympathetic walkers, and a fair amount of sitting atop large boulders figuring out the best way down/up. Lovely day mostly though...

Recently fitted them to my bike, just got back from a ride and found 2 thorns embedded in the front tyre that would have been 2 punctures, it was a devil off a job to instal them though.

Another thing with boost mode, if you are going flat out in boost pedaling as hard as you can?
And you do a pedal strike on a rock, you can be thrown SO far over the handlebars..................pedal strikes are different on E bikes.

Good video Chris. Having just had to get my Cube Stereo Hybrid fitted with a new motor, I can second the water one.
I can understand what you're saying about no deeper than your BB, but I don't think I waded very deep, certainly not that deep. What about secondary water damage like splashes through shallower water, or from being on the back of your car through heavy rain for long periods? Be interested to hear your opinion

Only a squid would do this. We do local road rides and some 80 year old women will show up with their E roadbikes.
And yup a motor beats no motor. Not a huge accomplishment .

i am about to purchase my first e bike and was planning on just turning the motor on when i come to a very steep hill or climb. my thinking was i can still ride most terrain but is it harmful to the motor riding it in the off position? for me the assist would be used only when i needed it and not all the time. does it cause excessive wear on the motor or drive train?

Pedaling a 50+ lb bike with out the motor, is like riding with both brakes dragging, it doesnt work real well.
ECO mode on my shimano motor'd bike is a great workout, I can go 85 miles that way with the 900WH battery.

Ebike advice- "use eco mode". No, because it's as dull as shit and I bought my bike to have fun. I'll tell all the mx'ers to get their bikes power restricted by 75%, sure that'll catch on. Great channel btw.

I think its polite etiquette for ebikes not to overtake roadies. Its a bit like jumping a line. Unless your riding with them, dont do it.

THIS is the deal. It is extremely poor form to make a big deal out of going faster with a motor.
Of course a bike with a motor beats a bike with no motor up a steep hill. Its not a skill.

Exactly, all this clap trap about "my e bike is so fast". With what 1/2 HP? My last 300 KTM singletrack bike was the normal 46 HP and would wheelie at 65 mph. There is fast, and then there is fast.
