Worse advice I ever had was you have have to earn the right to go downhill by peddling your guts outs out on a normal mtb and ebikers are cheaters

i am so sorry but i rode a normal Bike B4 i got Ebike and i agree with that term "earn the right to go downhill by peddling your guts outs out on a normal mtb" that's literally why i got my Ebike bcz somebody zoomed past me on an uphill and i felt like i earned it already by doing the normal climbs on a regular bike. I think it's about lifestyle too. some want the high level condition fitness and some just want to get from point A to B.

Incidentally some bad advice given in this 'bad advise video' - gear oil is proven in lab conditions to be the most effective chain lube, if you're attracting loads of dirt it's because you're applying too much, excessive application of a 'bike specific' lube will do the same. Every 'mountain bike specific' and especially 'e-bike' specific product is generally a rebranded, vastly over priced version of what is available for much less commercially

I can attest to the rack comment. I thought the rack on my car was good enough for the new Trek Rail only to see it fall off the rack on it's maiden ride. Next day, hammered off the old rack and bought a nice expensive rack for the EMTB. Works like a charm now. Morale of the story "The price of the rack in directly proportional to the cost of the bike" . Thanks Chris for this informative video.

Keep your bikes locked even IN your garage if possible. Thieves canvas neighborhoods looking for open garages w/juicy e-bike targets for snatch and grab. My parents lost theirs within 60 days of purchase that way... and of course their insurance company screwed them as e-bikes fall into the gray area between vehicle and property. Neither home owners nor vehicle coverage applied.

@@embn I'll admit that I am a bit on the OCD side, however the Squirt lube is self-cleaning, it dries out and falls away with the accumulated dirt. Just remove the bigger chunks of wax that may accumulate on cage and similar narrow points and you are good to go.

Hi guys. Love the content but never keen on seeing eMTB guys clearly riding along footpaths or rocks that are not actual trails. Let’s not spoil the outdoors for everyone eh, we all know that the increased range and power of eMTBs has seen loads of riders going where they shouldn’t so please do the right thing and encourage everyone to stick to the bridleways and trails. Footpaths in the Lakes,UK, Alps etc very not cool.

Better still run two chains and swap them over every two or three rides. Gives you the opportunity to clean the unused chain correctly and both chains mesh correctly with the cassette

I don't know why they always bash on three in one, is it because they want you to buy their expensive garbage, or they just don't know any better. If there was something better than three-in-one I would definitely use it. Case-in-point remember when bike shops used to push White lightning, with the argument that it doesn't attract dirt, three-in-one is always been the best you just wipe off the excess.

  • @SimonBauer7

any oil will do. am guilty of this myself. the drivetrain for me is just a wear item. it lasts for 1000s of kilometers anyways and a chain is dirt cheap, casette is too (only applies if you dont ride expensive drivetrains like sram eagle or shimano deore xtr).

On the hike a bike, get to know your walk mode. Lifesaver. Also even if it says it's e-bike approved, don't believe it. I had one from Saris that almost dumped my bike off the back of my truck as the wheel carriers broke. Just cheap plastic. Go with something you can barely pick up. Just like the bike.. :)

Bad advice: save money on brakes. Actually, with e-mtb, the ease of climb means that you gain lots of potential energy quite easily. All this energy needs to be dissipated downhill. Even a rookie needs pro level brakes if doing serious hilly rides.
