First step is to finally get that medical degree and then get done with my specialization in order to save up some money. I reckon I still have 6 to 10 years left. Meanwhile I'm just saving up ideas for my future landy's mods😆 I didn't really consider insulating it until now, I hope that will make a difference, thanks doc
Thanks for your comment Gary- Would like to but I don’t know if I could cut the curved roof out... don’t know if my DIY skills have it in them. I did the rear quarter glass- in fact uploading a video of me doing it this weekend
@@thedoctorsgarage it's not to hard to cut them out with a template but I found that don't used the cheap brit part seals as rubber to hard. If you fit the alpines in then you can put a headliner in and would finish the interior off with all the new carpets you have and going to fit.
Hello Sir... Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 Hope everybody is safe and sound... May I make a suggestion..? Get a ORE corner protection for the seat boxes on BOTH sides 👌 So the edges don’t come of or crumble while you getting in the car ... cheap install and HUGE BENEFITS!
@@thedoctorsgarage Any time sir... ORE is putting out a lot of great products... as well a wheel carrier ... that I would of course also recommend... And before you ask ... no ... I don’t get a commission 😜👍
Great video, thinking about the carpet option myself. Couple of questions; water in the footwell - do you have any leaks and how are you dealing with water in the footwell with the carpet and sound deadening? Did you have any issues with the Exmoor carpet with the additional sound deadening?
Hi N Noddy- I sorted the footwell leaks before fitting the carpets and deadening- the main area of leak for my was the air vents that open on the bulkhead- I basically keep them tightly shut now and have an extra layer of foam to seal them so they close sealed. Re: the carpets I had a little bit of excess but nothing too bad and it was easy to fit around the sound deadening to be honest - had to make a few more cuts here and there
Hi Stef- it’s a great idea as picking tyres is a nightmare-will so a video soon. I love the Cooper STT pros despite everyone saying they were going to be too noisy!
Hi Liam thank you- appreciate the support. This was 1 pack originally of the 2mm Mat Bulk pack. I think to properly do a defender you would want 3- can never seem to have enough!
Looks sweet. I have a bone stock 300tdi that needs a few little mods. I still have the old steel wheels but have boost wheels for the future. What size tires did you go with? And do you need to have a lift kit to run that size?
Hi Michael - thanks for the comment - I’m Actually not sure what it is sorry - as was fitted by the previous owner- I think it’s a mountney one but keen to change it to a different one soon
Hiya really nice build. The leather gear gaiters look great but I’m struggling to find them on line any chance of a link or name the outlet you got them from ???
Thanks! Yes of course - it’s actually an Exmoor trim one and came in the interior set but looks like you can buy it separate here. Really easy to fit just a couple of zip ties to hold it in - rimmerbros.com/Item--i-EXT0142--SelectedCurrency-1?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3MXBmcjs7gIVgpntCh1VkgAaEAQYAiABEgK_lvD_BwE
Nice job, it’s a pig of a job to do but when you do it right it looks fantastic. I also used silent coat products on two of my Defenders now and it makes such a difference.
Great update on the car 👍🏻 I’ve currently just removed my bulkhead and fitted it with the removal bar, think it’s the best mod I’ve done so far as it’s given me more room. Would you consider doing it ?
@@thedoctorsgarage I used the Bearmach removal bar. It wasn’t to bad just took a while with quite a bit of planning. You need to take the sides off in order to bolt the top of the bar into the side plates. But definitely worth it as it seems to have double the room inside the Defender
You’re right- and I’m still not 100% convinced it is as my windscreen seal is dodgy....until it’s sorted it’s garaged - I’ve plugged so many leaks so far!
great stuff mate, i covered my td5 and my series 3 in deadmat hex from dodo and their foam layer too makes such a difference. new sub
Sound system is next on the list
Many thanks for this, this is so going on my list!
👌🏻👌🏻
Another interesting video, thanks. Have a look at the uproar 4x4 stainless mud guard holders. They are a bit different from the regular ones.
ThankS Peter- appreciate it. Will check them out

Good luck with the studies- will
Be worth it in the end!
could you make a video detailing how long it took to build and final rough price including all the upgrades if you don't mind please ?
Will make a video about this soon!
Hi Marcus,
I was wondrering how you removed Land Rover letters on the bonnet without scratching the paint?
Regards
Julien (France)
Heatgun/hairdryer first to warm the glue and a piece of fine string or fishing wire under each letter worked well for me 👌🏻 hope that helps
To make the back of your defender look more like a county i think alpine glass windows in the roof would be cool 😎

@@thedoctorsgarage what was the total thickness of all layers of insulation?
10mm - dodo super liner at 8mm and then 2mm silent coat
Great products, I just wish they didn’t make their logos so prominent. Great vid
👌🏼
You never put a link for the Deus ex machina headwear from caangu. I'm assuming your a surfer? Will you be adding a roof rack for surf boards?
I have thought about it but quite like the look
without the rack for this car
Hello can you kindly comment or even do a video on your Cooper STT Pro tyres? How do you find them as a Normal road tyre?
Hi Stef- it’s a great idea as picking tyres is a nightmare-will so a video soon. I love the Cooper STT pros despite everyone saying they were going to be too noisy!
Yes I’ve just gone for the same tyre as again despite what people say they are an unbelievable road tyre. Look forward to it ;)
Love your videos, how many packs of sound deadened did you end up using? A lot of information out there but none seem to state and solid answer.

Hey- I went for 265/75 tyres and have 30mm spacers but standard height
Id love some proper offroad videos!
When lockdown eases I’ll give filming it a go!

Did you install any liftkit to the defender?
Hi Andy- my defender has a 2inch lift kit fitted by the previous owner
I’m tempted to bring it back down to normal height as it does wobble about quite a bit now it’s been remapped!
Great Landy! What tyre size you have?
Thanks! 275/65 if I remember correctly
Cooper STT PRO
The analogy looks perfect. I’m going for STT for mine also.
If you get damp under all that the floor will rot and get smelly.
I did seal the footwells with a paint from underneath so hoping to not get too much damp under them.... 🤞🏼
How much did it cost to soundproof the entire vehicle?
Probably about £500 with the carpets

All that matting is great if your car is 100% leak free, if it isn't you'll end up regretting it..
