Hey Mack, i usually don't comment on video's but you might want to read this;
First of all i really appreciate what you do here on UA-cam, i like the way you tackle the most annoying problems that others tend to ignore because they ''love'' a certain game, pointing out the pros rather to take an honest look at the cons. You on the other hand inform us wether the pros and cons are worth the money but also *why* that is, and i like that. I don't like to waste 60,- on a game that ends up on a dusty shelf so prior to purchasing a game, me and many others are open to hearing your opinion, 95% of the times i find that you call out exactly that which annoys me the most once i get into said game.
The people in the comment section that bash you for YOUR OPINION are simply retarted, peasant/ puppets that use up 50% of their parents electricity bill and ignore their real life friends -if they have any-. You guys need to understand that his videos and or reviews are HIS OPINION and no matter how many dumb comment you guys leave, it will not change that.
What mack is doing here is focussing on the majority of SERIOUS gamers that like get worth for their money and letting people know beforehand what they are getting into before spending good money on something that might be a big FLOP. Mack doesn't get brainwashed by the same old recycled ''lets milk this out as long as we can'' nonsense that games devs have been giving us for the past 15-ish years. If you dislike his content, there's a little button on the upper left corner of your screen to back out and browse millions of other videos that are out there on YT.
Tldr; Mack, my dude, dont even spend time on replying to these jackasses that get 8 thumbsup from their 12 y.o picklesucking fellow-brainwashed using-mommys-bandwith minions. Every now and then i like to scroll over the comments to see what the haters have to say and it is my opinion that you respond wayy too much to these suckers.. let them hate and keep doing your thing.

I bought this game the day it came out and already have 20 hours into it. I haven't seen the review yet but from me it deserves a buy. Where I live its only 25 bucks and its really fun.
Edit: after watching it I would like to say some things. I play from Brasil so I will always have 150+ ping and have to deal with shitty lag, so I need way to get around that. You got smokes, blowguns, tazers, pepper spray, spears and bows (even dynamite and granades!) to deal damage without getting hit. I agree the combat itself is kinda shitty but you can make strategies. For example, each weapon does max damage of 16-26 (sledgehammer does 30) so you will have some time to react getting hit.
Blocking forever will only get you killed if you are playing against someone who knows their shit, its a simple push-attack strategy. Spamming attack will also get you killed since one block stuns you and the enemy will have a clean shot and rape your face. You need not to rely on the combat system but on your gadgets, like smoke bombs and blowguns which can be EASILY crafted at the beggining of the game and can incapacitate someone while YOU are the one raping their face. Although people may say this is a skill-based game I think its around 60% skill and 30% actually planning out what you are doing. Preparing for a fight with bandages, throwing weapons and a good damage outcome will surely grant you victory, except when you get outplayed by someone else who also planned ahead. If you read until here thanks and I would recommend buying. (BTW They added EU servers last patch so Mack doesnt need to lag anymore :D)

Sometimes just because Mack says it doesn't deserve a buy doesn't mean the game is not good. It will improve and once its a complete product im sure that I will put 100+ on it

The crashing is due to the latest Nvidia drives.
+Rex Zer0 the latest ones were removed due to the issues they were causing. However, the issues aren't game specific nor do they have anything to do with this game crashing. They are more specific to completely fucking up your Windows registry or unable to boot back into Windows.

jesper hausted Rock-paper-scissors style combat is something many people like. And I wouldn't say that it's not for me, since something like Dark Souls has it too to some extend. But this combat kinda reminds me of elder scrolls combat but without all the fun stuff.

I would like a game about hunger games concet that is more tactical, deliberate and slower, more of a strategy game than a game about reflexes. I would still like that in an real time combat system, though.
2 factors in enjoying these types of games: game mechanics and player population dynamics. If it says "Arena", "PvP" or "Deathmatch", the dysfunctional kids are going to jump all over it. You could have perfect game mechanics and still never have a game you can enjoy.
Your reviews are normally spot on but I just bought this game on Friday and spent many many many hours playing it this weekend. It takes awhile to get used to but once you have an idea where the buildings are, basic crafting recipes, and how to combat system works, it's a blast.
Man can't get enough of your accent, nice video as always! That plot twist really got me..
In Chivalry, you don't just time the block. You also have to aim the block to the tip of enemy weapon :)

This games selling point is that it puts you in A map where you have to craft or find weapons and survive against other players, kinda like every online survival game ever.

This game is F2P now and it changed alot. Now it is unique hunger games like battle royale game that everyone MUST try. There is nothing to lose when the game is free to play.
Would be a good name for a game, where you get to rampage through the British Parliament with a sword.

Ark: Survival Evolved has a mod called Survival of the Fittest and it's basically a hunger games mod, so It's similar to this, but better and with dinosaurs.

Funny thing, I looked to see if you had made a video for The Culling before I bought the game. Alas, I beat you to it. I got really into it and found the first person immersion a bit of an adrenaline rush (I even wrote a positive review of steam). That being said, I'm already done with the lot. Every match was the same. You can only play the match over and over until you're done. I should've waited.
Your observations are spot on or at the very least comedic. You really answer the question for each game: is this game going to do what I want it to do? Game reviewers tend to miss that question. That's why I'm glad you're not one. You have a unique way to tackle a game that only comes from experience. Thanks. I will wait and not jump into the video-game fever.
I absolutely love it, its a GREAT game. It obviously needs polish, optimization, finishing of assets, and redoing some placeholder mechanics, like everything combat-related.They will remove the infinite block and rock-paper-scissors combat style,i hope, once they can address more easier-to-complete issues like, laggy servers, unbalanced perks, etc.

Personally, I find this game really fun. I don't have lag or game crashes which helps, and I agree that the game mechanics are a little basic but I don't know something about the atmosphere really makes it enjoyable for me. I haven't been playing for very long so maybe I've been fooled by the hype. But I do wish the game was a little more realistic; a focus on surviving against both opponents and nature. Bigger maps, longer rounds, more people, needing/using resources, etc. But idk that's just imo.
also I forgot to add,no micro transactions in game, and u can sell cosmetics items u receive every battle(won or lost) on steam just like in cs go,this game literally buys itself in around ~2weeks

The crashing might also has to do with recent nvidia drivers. Many people reported crashes and it was actually pulled back.
I've been playing for awhile now and have yet to experience the hackers or lag you speak of. I can clearly see the lag happening on your screen play but I haven't had an issue. You might need to look further into that because its probably your end. As for the combat its not Chivalry like you complain about but its still strategy involved. You can't just block all day because when you get pushed you are opened to attacks. For anyone reading this, there is a reason it has a 80% thumbs up rating. Don't take this one review and then think the game is shit.

+Rally Monster Perfect, I used to be subbed to him. Then i figured out that the reason he is popular is because he F***ing complains too much. I have over 100 hours in this game and still haven't had a problem with lag. The combat is like a card game, play the right card to counter others, then you take a stab at them.

That's a nice touch with the Chivalry gameplay. It's a lot of extra editing work, but it worked well to enforce your point that the combat is just bad.

Hey Mack, you should have a look back at Planetside 2, in my opinion it's one of the best first person shooters out at the moment that requires patience, skill and strategy. It is about to get a bunch of new features added in a month or two, definitely worth checking out (it's free to play!). I've clocked in over 1000 hours on it since the beginning of 2015 while everyone was getting disappointed with releases such as Battlefront and I am still going strong with it in 2016!

I honestly like the game, but you're absolutely right. The optimization, lag and Combat can be such a load of crap.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't like the game Mack, I've had a lot of fun playing it since it released on Steam. I definitely agree the combat has a ways to go but I think the games' foundations are pretty solid. I don't think your critique of the crafting was fair. I think the crafting is very focused, streamlined and less monotonous (than other games with crafting) and works well with the game to deliver the full battle royale experience condensed into a 20 minute, 16 man deathmatch. It's also worth noting they patched the game so you can't heal with the machines while in combat. The developers are doing a good job listening to the community and pushing updates to balance out the game and fix things that are problematic.
That being said, I always love to hear what you have to say about games that come out and I think you do a wonderful job of helping people to decide whether or not a game is worth not only playing, but being purchased at the asking price. I have saved a lot of money off not buying shitty games because of you! Thanks for the review, despite not agreeing with you on this one!
I'm ok with everything but the melee combat. It's two guys running in a circle jamming buttons until one dies.

This game is totally worth it's 13,49 price. I have even gained money on this game soon by selling cosmetic items on the steam marketplace. The combat might feel a bit off and could need an improvement. But it sure is worth 13,49 according to me.

From what I understand there are only US servers currently out, with more servers arriving in the coming weeks. Which might be the reason you were lagging. And I don't feel like you can accurately judge the combat with your high ping. Also not every game needs have realistic crafting. Quake isn't realistic...

That's pretty much new X-COM, the way the original X-COM (1994) was designed was to have you be very careful in the early stages with your plans of approach, especially line of sight.
With new X-COM(2012) everything is dice rolls ,even core is just a joke.
And I also dislike UE3 and this and the newer game are incredibly buggy, because it isn't made for this type of game.

The reason more people don't know about the first 2 TES games is because they were PC exclusives in an era where Bethesda was a nobody and selling just over 500k units was considered a success.
Not to mention the mid 90's '94-96' were seen as the low years for PC rpgs compared to their late 80s and early 90s releases also the period that TE1&2 and a few other underrated gems got released.
A lot of these games just weren't profitable because of the FPS boom and the advent of the new consoles back then like the PS1.
RPGs in the PC crowd really went big from 97 onward with the release of Diablo, Fallout and especially Baldur's Gate.
Daggerfall was the biggest game they ever made and the most ambitious in the series.
It was also the last game they ever made to not be a borefest.
But because of poor marketing and the game not selling well this also led Bethesda into it's own identity crisis.
*points to Battlespire and Redguard*
Since both TE1 & 2 are free on Bethesda's website, there is no reason not to play them.
You just need dosbox for emulation.
Not to mention you can just pick a preset class(or go really in-depth) and start immediately, none of that unnecesary long intro sequence that you have to endure every time you want to start a new character.
Skyrim is the worst.

I wanted to play this game but Im not going to pay for an early access game with just one map, they might as well call it a demo.
Hey an early access survival game. Haven't seen one of those before! People will defend this yes, just like they did the last one, but next month they'll totally forget about this one as they move on to the next one. Each one has no future, they're just FOTM junk.
Saying this game is garbage is an understatement!
The rock paper scissors aspect of melee should be improved, however theres a lot more to combat that you didn't get into. The game is early access and was a bit cheeky with its 'false-release' - which is actually a pay to enter open alpha. New servers are up and the lag is getting better, but yes, theres a lot of bugs and i consistencies with combat. The premise of the game however is still hugely compelling, and once you work out some viable strategies and win your first deathmatch it becomes massively addictive.

For a tenner a Ive had my money's worth. I think it's a bit of a laugh myself.
This game did sound like a good idea, but this video steered me clear of buying in its current state and price. Maybe whenever it exist early access it'll be more improved and would be worth trying for around $5...

Wow, Thanks Mack for saving me some money. I was ready to go out and buy this thing because it just sounded so good, but now that I've seen how terrible the combat is I'm definitely giving it a pass. The concept in general isn't very original though-before HG there was Battle Royale,The Condemned (a shite film with Steve Austin and erm Vinnie Jones in) and let's not forget (if anyone here is old enough to remember it!) The Running Man!!!
