There’s definitely risks with taking supps - like quality, purity, and does-it-contain-what-it-says in the quantity that it says. My rule of thumb - only supplement when there’s a true need. And find a GMP certified brand that’s ultra transparent about their ingredients!

That's kind of part of their job you know. And it's irrelevant that doctors tell you it's pointless to take supplements, what matters is _scientists_ say it's pointless - at least, in most cases. These supplement companies prey on people's ignorance. People get drawn to supplements because they think 'natural' means 'safer,' which it doesn't. Natural vs unnatural chemicals are still chemicals, and they may or may not be safe. The difference between drugs and supplements is pretty simple: the former have been proven to work and tested for safety, the latter haven't.

I can agree multi vitamins can most likely not help. But I disagree with certain things your saying. I know there's beef between functional medicine and conventional medicine but It's crazy how you think most people get all the vitamins that is required to not have a deficiency and in AMERICA of all places. Vitamin D and zinc and potassium are one of the most deficient vitamins out there. And just because you can get these vitamins from foods doesn't necessarily mean it's process in your body correctly aswell and or it's from a good source. I guarantee you almost everyone in this country has or will have a bad gut issue that has been proven to give vitamin deficiencies that leads to emotional and mental disorders just to name a few examples. So yes it is necessary to use supplements specially if you don't consume what your suppose to eat. Conventional medicine bloodwork doesn't fully show all vitamin deficiencies btw... essentially you won't really need to take vitamins if you know what you're consuming but odds are people can't afford quality foods or don't simply know how to nourish themselves properly.

I was recommended to take a vitamin C tablet along with the iron to help with effectiveness. I had the same problem as you, with not feeling any better after about two months. Luckily, vitamin C is water soluble, so it can’t hurt you. Maybe talk to your doctor about it.

Kind of the same: if the doctor prescribed them, they may help. If you take them on your own, probably you don't need them.
Calcium can actually hurt you (my aunt had spasms in her hands and nervousness) so your doctor needs to prescribe the exact dose, which can or cannot be the one in the label.

Hey Dr. Mike, idk if you’re going to see this but I was taking about $600 worth of supplements every 200 days consisting of different herbs, vitamins, and minerals thinking it was the “best form” that will help my body long term. After seeing this video, I decided to look back on my supplements and see if I really needed it and I really found out that I didn’t. I saved around $560 every 200 days because I only take a multivitamin and fish oil now. It really helped simplify my life and I feel even BETTER now but if it wasn’t for this video, I never would’ve reflected back on what I was taking. Thank you so much!
