    I just started taking a multivitamin because, recently, I've been so busy with work and full-time university classes that I haven't had the time to prepare healthy and balanced meals. I feel like a multivitamin can at least help me get whatever I might be missing during this temporary crunch time.
    2 month update: So, I've been taking them on an off (I'm really bad about remembering to take meds all the time), but when I'm really good about it, I do actually notice a little difference. My nails break a lot less! I think it's helping. But I'm going to go to my doctor when I get a chance to see what I should be doing long-term.

    • @yutehube4468
      @yutehube4468 5 місяців тому +1

      I doubt you'd overdose taking the 1-a-day type tablets. Look at broccoli for example - a 300g serving has 378 micrograms of vitamin K but you only need about 75 micrograms per day. Eating 300g broccoli you're "overdosing" on vitamin K at 5 times the recommended daily amount. Are you actually overdosing on the vitamin? No. Your body simply won't use any more than it needs. I don't know if this applies to all 13 vitamins but it's certainly true of vitamin K.

    I believe the reason for the names “micro” and “macro”- nutrients is actually because of the size of the molecule. Micronutrients are usually small molecules, like elements such as Ca, Mg, Fe, but protein, fats, and carbs are all long carbon chain macromolecules.

    • @kylejordan6484

    So, I have narcolepsy, which means I have a really slow metabolism. I don't restrict my diet, but I have no appetite. I end up eating around 1,000-1400 calories a day. I used to count, and I don't now but I am good at guestimating with all of my past experience with counting. With this amount of food I maintain a healthy weight, I am not underweight at all. but, I wonder if I need to supplement with a multivitamin in this case. I also know that I am nowhere near enough protein. I am doing intuitive eating, and for important reasons, so I do not restrict or do any kind of diet. I eat whatever I want. To push only high protein foods would undo my progress and that is not what I want. I do incorporate these foods, but I eat such small portions and only twice a day usually. Do you have any recommendations for getting more protein and/or if I would need a multivitamin based on my intake? Thanks!

      yup... need a Multivitamins to topup some of lost nutrients, but just take it 4 x a weeks so that we not dependable on the OTC supplements much & Multivitamins act a backup. a real nutrients should be come fm natural foods. check the Multivitamins label & some come with a bit low in doses especially the want that we need to buy seperately; Magnesium, Vit D3 (some with D2) & Vit K2 MK7 (some with K1 or K2 MK4). others like Potassium & Calcium, i dont think so need to added. some may add 2 more minerals aka Boron or Iron (boths depends which preferable)

    Can you have too much of any vitamin in you? Just say you eat really well eat lots of different foods, and have a daily high enough calorie intake. You are getting enough vitamins from you’re food, so can you take a multivitamin also? Hypothetically? I just want to know if you can have too much of one vitamin or another. Thanks

    No, the RDV is enough for 95% of all people to get all or more than their possible intake of that nutrient. That is literally what the "recommended daily value" means.

    I use your multi vitamin, and a separate 2Oug of Vit D. I follow a good balanced diet. But train as a triathlete between 8-12hrs a week. Is it wrong to just take these as a safeguard to make sure I have all I need?? Or do you suggest some of your other products ( male 44yr-old )

    So I take Ghost Lifestyle's Multi and the daily% is way over 100% for some. An example would be Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is at 100mg which is 7692% of the daily %? Does it matter that you are getting more than 100%? I assume that your body will just excrete what it doesn't need, right? I would like you to do a video on Riboflavin - when I first started taking the Ghost Multi, my pee went neon yellow and I had a panic. I learned that it's normal and it's just your body excreting what you don't need and that;s just what Riboflavin does. I would like you to cover it. I was very concerned and I'm sure i'm not the only one. I would like your opinion on the Ghost Multi's ingrediants list - but I understand you won't cover another company's product.

    I have taken a multivitamin for 20 years. And I do see benefits. However, my issue with them is most of them have things like B6 and B12 in such massive doses (up to 10x the RDA) that it's a problem. Any suggestions on a multivitamin that provides no more than 100% of the RDA???? (I have nerve pain due to the B vitamin overload, which goes a way not long after I stop taking them) I don't want to cherry pick, I want a broad range of vitamins in one pill

    You did not comment on the fact Multivitamins generally have poor bioavailability. Also suggesting that Multivitamins are a good buffer to a lacking diet is just plain wrong.

    • @rkirwan1
      @rkirwan1 2 роки тому +13

      Actually, multivitamins tend to have quite good bioavailability whereas multiminerals can have poor bioavailability depending on the form provided. As for the buffer comment, I think you've taken it completely out of context as I did specify at the beginning of the video that people should be using a food first approach to get their nutrition. IN THE CASE that someone CAN'T or WON'T do that through diet (for all the reasons I mention), supplements are the only option available unless you have another suggestion within the context I discussed in the video. If I left something out, I'd like to know as I realise the videos I make are far from perfect and can always be improved.
