I was introduced to Anita Sarkeesian by a friend I had at the time, in a negative way. He wanted me to laugh with him, instead I found myself investigating more about what Anita was talking about. It's ironic, eh.
Not really, there is a reason why her kick starter made so much money. People want the content she promised but with effort put into it. The only reason she is what she is now is because she is seen as not credible. People saw clips of her "playing games" only to find out they weren't her clips and she didn't credit people. Thats a big no no in most comunities.
True. It revealed the world of online harassment and doxxing/death treats and pushing rage culture for creating traffic and clout which translates to Ad revenue.
Even one click on right-wing rant video increases recommendations by algorithm and Ad money so I actively block channels to prevent toxic garbage from spreading

Anita is a brave woman. Calling out 'ANTI-SJW' types for what they really are back when they seem untouchable online out of fear of harassment
Oh god i remember tropes vs women in video games. God the forum posts about how this lady is the devil. I watch her videos and it was well reasoned, boring and milquetoast opinions. I remember being like “this is what people are mad about?”
But god damn they are all still mad about it 😂😂

You know what you could steal from UA-cam, the community tab. It's usually less engaged with than a video but it does drive traffic.
I still remember vividly when gamergate was happening and i was following TotalBiscuit at the time and it still makes me sad how he and many others got sucked into this stupid conspiracy and their audiences then being turned into soldiers again people like Anita. It was such a terrible time
A lot of people did, but if my memory serves, TB turned against GG later on. I wasn't following Jim Sterling back then, but I think they've said they used to be a shitlord too, but they've since come out as non-binary, and are among the most relentless critics of gamer culture and the games industry.
But you're right, it was a shit time, and the shitty legacy still lives on :/
