@@Unbaguettable they said it would be a train game like season 3 but taking place in japan. it probably wont be tag but maybe another game like it (unless it does end up being tag again lol).
Adam and Ben definitely have great chemistry, but I think it could be good to experiment with mixing up teams sometimes. In some seasons the Sam+guest dynamic can feel a bit awkward/overshadowed by the Ben and Adam show. Like Dave said, it's important to make sure the guest looks good and has time to shine
I did a version with my friends in December and we're planning one for May, too. The first was tag in our city and now we're going to do connect 5 of our city's districts. It's totally doable, when scaled down.
I think Toby was the best guest so far, she really leant into the competition but was also fun and interesting. Brian is good for the comedy as he can drop the comedy bombs when needed. Even though I watched the round the world one with Joseph, I found him completely bland. But I’ve loved every season so far and can’t wait for the next season.
I don't know HOW you will do it, but i hope Toby comes back on future seasons. She was so much fun and so strategically tuned to the show. Just an incredible guest
I’d love to see a Nebula podcast on game design- maybe 5-10 episodes on how the game is designed, considerations you have when you design the game, obstacles you’ve hit, etc. a real behind-the-scenes on the logistics of Jet Lag. Something we the fans could take to make homebrew smaller versions for our friends.
I don't think they should break up Ben and Adam's partnership for the more traditional game styles, if only because traveling is so much less stressful with someone you're close with. Also they created the Snack Zone in NZ and I don't see that kind of thing (or drunk Ben's antics, etc.) continuing if they were to swap partners.
I did really like the Europe dynamic of three teams, I would like to see four teams one day just because it might allow for some temporary alliances to be formed during the game play and with the dynamic of the curse cards, it should create a crabs in a bucket dynamic as far as ensuring the game stays close to the finish line.
If people want a version of jet lag they can play, they just need to scale it down to the city level and base gameplay and challenges around that. Even the Tag across Europe could get kindof expensive. Train travel is inexpensive but it isn't cheap either but most cities you can get transit day passes for a much more reasonable amount of money.
Saw another comment about this on one of the episodes and I absolutely love the idea. A small scale game like tag in New York with a few friends would be awesome.
You know I remember this old board game I played with my cousins and it was I think called 'Scotland yard' or something, it was basically about catching a thief around London using various forms of public transport, but you would only know the thief's location periodically and you would have to guess and predict where the theif would go and somehow catch him. And you had like different tickets for each form like taxi, underground, ferry and stuff like that. So it could be a cool idea to replicate something like that in jet lag. (Kinda similar to the special episode they did with Tim Scott on his channel but on a bigger scale)
The first round of the newest season was all set in Tokyo, so it's definitely something that could scale down to a single city and still be a lot of fun.
or just one country, honestly. Sometimes you can get good offers for transport for a day in a certain country. But yes, a single city certainly would work too
36:30 I believe at this point, my greatest reason for watching Jet Lag in general is my wish to have the chance to experience the games in the same way as you guys do. I totally would get as competitive as Sam, and love the seriousness vs laid back attitudes of Ben / Adam. Realistically, you have created something that a lot of Geography 'geeks' would love to do, given the opportunity at some point in their lives, and you are able to share it in an interesting way. In the UK, we have had gameshows such as Treasure Hunt and Interceptor in the 90's which inspired using the earth and known local areas as a 'gameboard' to more recently the series called 'Hunted' in the past few years, which allow folks to experience 'non threatening' simulated experiences of travel under pressurised situations which the viewer can then compare with their own experiences and agree / disagree with the decisions made at the time by the 'contestant'. It is a winning formula for folks who have that 'global' interest for what is around them, and there are even opportunities to introduce new places, just like this most recent series, where I've never been to New Zealand, but had some limited knowledge, so found the places visited around the country very interesting and often found myself googling these locations to find out more about them. If you haven't guessed, I really appreciate the work that you are all putting into the series / channel, and long may it continue, as you will have a Nebula subscriber for as long as you do! Many thanks!
I think New Zealand with Toby was perfect. She knew how to strategize, she was fun, and it was one of the only instances that sam and the mystery person won.
Talking about the possibility that Sam might pull rank never occurred to me. Since Sam stated at one point that Ben and Adam are the ones who come up with the rules, while Sam is busy with Wendover and HAI. I always figured that Ben and Adam were the ones who had final say on any rules disputes.
I found that pretty interesting. Finished it in one sitting and didn't realise it was 52 mins long. Looks like Sam only found it half as interesting though.
The New Zealand game format is so good, you got to see so much while having to solve challenges, I would love to see more countries done like that, tag across is amazing as well, new favorite channel by far...
This show is one of the best parts of my week when it is on. It’s wholesome, I learn a lot. It’s just fun and life is hard. I appreciate you guys for this.
I wonder if Sam/Ben/Adam ever watch UK panelshows / gameshows like Taskmaster. They have a very similar dynamic of "this is a competition but also entertainment" which you don't really see much in the US
They do - the challenges in the Tag across Europe are based on Taskmaster, hence the creative solving of the challenges. Of course then there was backlash from the viewers so they've done less of it now.
I like the talk about their collective, hopefully this extends to the whole team at Jetlag. Employee owned structures are an incredible way to run a business and create productivity eutopias because people don't fight to move up the latter but instead everyone is growing and moving up together.
I think it would be interesting to see a season where BOTH teams have NO idea what the game entails. Get a third party to plan the game, and have ALL FOUR of the competitors along for the ride. That would be a true equaliser and allow for pure raw strategy on the fly to shine through. Love all the seasons of this game though!
Loved the latest season of Jet Lag, actually got me into the show, so I went back and watched them all on Nebula. If it's any kind of compliment, all y'all from Jet Lag showed me a great deal of my own country that had never seen and knew nothing of in Season 5, so thank you.
Obviously I want them to focus on the show, but something that immediately comes to mind as being a fun thing for a large group of people to do may be a city-wide capture the flag game in a city with ample public transit. I think it could be similar to tag, with a budget for transportation, but it would be per person and only apply when in the opposing team’s zone, and then you could maybe add challenges that people have to do in order to pick up the ‘flag’. Or maybe multiple ‘flags’ depending on number of people? Idk. I think it’d be fun, relatively accessible, could reuse a decent amount of previous work from the games to make the organizer’s work easier, and would be relatively cheap
I could see a New Zealand-style game played in Canada, which has a similarly linear road system due to all the ice and snow to the north. A max level of miles on the TCH would be imperative, but the insanely huge map would make for an AMAZING game!
If they do Canada, I think they should incorporate more "wild" and human powered transportation, like canoeing, hiking, biking, skiing, etc. Canada's calling card is wilderness.
A Vancouver to Halifax trip would be interesting, plus it would be another excuse for Sam to try his French out, although it would be set to the Quebec difficulty level. I’ve thought they should do a season with US National Parks.
@@loganleroy8622 YES! I've said that before - specifically, they should include ALL the NPS units, which is currently 424 or 387 in the Lower 48 states. You could get some great challenges at some of the lesser known, out-of-the-way historical sites (Nicodemus? Arkansas Post? Pipestone?)
oh, tbh, good shout, though yeah, it'd need to be much more fast paced, or it'd be unreasonably long. But I think any country with good transportation and safe is always a good candidate and they made sure to check off most of those by now, so Canada would also certainly fit the bill
I think one of the things that I like the best about a potential translation from Show to like IRL public events (ticketed public event, of course) is the pre-determined routes (obviously, speaking about the NZ season). That makes it fundamentally different than (as discussed) the Amazing Race or even other similar style city races. By setting the course/game board you’re keeping the focus on the challenges and gameplay and fun rather than say map knowledge or city layout or shortcuts or just general speed (like if you were running). I feel like this element makes it more accessible for different types of people and abilities (ie mobility issues, children, non-residents, etc.). Already rewatching the whole NZ season! Cheers guys. And special shout out to B&A - clever, creative, engaging editing is an unsung skill and talent.
oh i never thought about that. Cause like I can do this game as a person who uses a wheelchair. Maybe with different challenges related to just looking at different unique landmarks or monuments
couple weeks ago I legit clicked in to learn science stuff, instead I am introduced to the best game show I've ever seen on this platform and binged every episode of it.
How about a jet lag season on bikes in the netherlands? Enough cycle lanes thats for sure, and tiny enough country to be able to do distances on bikes.
Well, sometimes the fun content comes from difficulties, limitations and challenges. Biking in the Netherlands is not a challenge at all, so maybe it creates a better game if you biked in a place where it's just about doable.
I think it would be interesting to do a game in the UK and bring someone like Geoff Marshall in on Sam's team, who knows local routes extremely well. Or something similar in another country.
Great interview, can't wait to see what you come up with next. Now a bit of a review, I watched all of your NZ season on Nebula, and while I liked it, but it took a few episodes to get enthused, and I don't know why, maybe because it was a semi-fixed route, maybe because it was all car based.
Speaking of always keeping it fresh you've done trains and planes but have yet to conqour the seas. Maybe a boat season in the Caribbean. Some SCUBA challenges would be super cool. Would defininitly get some great footage and it could continue to show the world the beauty of our reefs and raise money to help them. For Nemo!
Wonder if they could do a river-based season too - like the Amazon Trail game but some place a bit more habitable lol. Making it down the Mississippi or Rhine or something.
I think the only way to do a Jet Lag game for us to play would be a set of card like curses and challenges that we can have so we can just do a scaled down version in like city, or state
43:16 I love the discussion here after hearing y'all try to explain "What do I do?" All 3 kinda flip-flopped on the term "creator" which I totally understand cause that's such a simple undynamic answer, however, after the timestamp you so eloquently summarize why CREATING QUALITY CONTENT is what you strive to do and actively achieve imho. Love everything about it. Thanks!
If you did make an “at home” version of Jet Lag, it would be super fun (and a bit niche) if there was a version that would be directed towards those with Non-Revenue Space Available travel benefits. While I understand that a certain rule (that you can’t use such benefits to make a profit) prevents the Jet Lag team from having a season based around this (it would be amazing), providing a framework for a game based on Non-Revenue travel would be epic for those of us in the travel industry.
I will be really excited when the day arrives that we receive a playable version of Jet Lag. But there's no rush. The fan base is definitely still going to be here no matter how long we have to wait for that.
Id like to see miniseries's, maybe something like "We turned Texas into a giant board game" Or some state or region or whatever And it lasts 2 or 3 episodes
Would they be willing to put themselves through using the US public transit system just to demonstrate its quality compared to that of Europe and Japan?
One thing that's also nice about Jet Lag is, aside from the obvious travel aspect, is that you aren't forcing the game on account of production costs; you're doing all the filming yourselves with selfie sticks. With a show like The Amazing Race, there's no point in working hard to gain a lead because you'll lose it on account of everyone needing to be on this one flight to somewhere.
3 things are certain in jet lag Adam screaming "babbyyy" at the end of a sentence Sam calculating 3/4 of the route in his head at the start Ben getting drunk
the fanbse is engaged but this is desirable reality content like what used to be on cable televsion 10-15 years ago, that is back is a clearly superiors quality.
I am definitly not like the best producer of shows like this, but would the New Zealand season been more interesting with more teams? I just think with 4x different teams, all the pathways would have been used and so much more drama. But also maybe not? I don't know.
i feel like that would lead to some teams having more screen time than others, and someone has to decide what we see about which team and i think that would be less natural. Maybe each team has their own channel/video. Like each week you get four videos, one per team. In the current seasons, we get to see exactly everything that each team is doing. We barely miss any of their strategies
Well that might give them a chance to entice more viewers to episodes behind the paywall or have a midweek release of extra content from things that don’t make it to UA-cam. I’d like the idea of four teams because there’d be temporary alliances formed out of necessity during the gameplay.
When I think about it, while it'd be nice to know what all the challenges were, some of the challenges could also run into liability issues if people tried to recreate it, such as the beer mile.
if they want to create a jetlag game that anyone could play, i feel like it has to be real but on a smaller scale: 24h in London or Chicago or Seoul for example. Maybe not entertaining enough as a full show but crazy enough to be a special thing in the hearts of fans who would play it
In reading the comments, most people love Ben and Adam together. I would agree. I think Sam's dynamic is always a little off with the partner because it isn't as solid as B/A. Sam also sounds incredibly busy, in addition to him being the "boss". I think the show would find success in having Sam stick to higher creative roles and narrating, while allowing guest couples to make up the second team.
I super agree with Ben. When I went to Korea last year I bought a total of 1200 plastic straws... I'm hopefully now set for life and hopefully I will never have to use another paper straw ever again.
Glad to be one of the twelve people to make it to the end of the video who don’t follow any of them on Twitter! Wait why am I glad to be one of them? Hold on let me go do that one second Ok I’m back there we go
I really appreciate the honesty with the timeline. I was watching the race across the US and I was wondering if it was really that close. It was nice to feel that it wasn't a made up timeline.

Watching this is honestly having me question if they’re friends outside the game rather than just employees and a boss 😵💫😵💫
It's true that all the games in jet lag are doable. Unlike other game shows, in jet lag you can actually gather your friends and do it.
I love how you ended with a twitter shoutout but only did Sam.
oh how i would love to see the uncut straw conversation!!
I will be really excited when the day arrives that we receive a playable version of Jet Lag. But there's no rush. The fan base is definitely still going to be here no matter how long we have to wait for that.
I would love to see Jet Lag: Scotland with train vs bus around the country.
Bless the algorithm for this video suggestion
didn’t know ben and adam were ivy league, they definitely don’t give off that vibe
Jet Lag is literally the best thing on the internet
Id like to see miniseries's, maybe something like "We turned Texas into a giant board game"
Or some state or region or whatever
And it lasts 2 or 3 episodes
Now I'm imagining JET LAG THE MOVIE and it's just NYC subway system stuff the whole time. be ironic with the name but would be fun.
Would they be willing to put themselves through using the US public transit system just to demonstrate its quality compared to that of Europe and Japan?
I know of a UA-camr (Jeb Brooks) who does that very thing.
Really interesting seeing these insights.
"The kids go NUTS for a Trapper Keeper."
At this point, one of Ben's core competency to Wnedover is getting drunk on camera.
This interview is excellent!
Dave and the 3 beasts
Will Ben get drunk again in the next season because that's always funny!!
3 things are certain in jet lag
Adam screaming "babbyyy" at the end of a sentence
Sam calculating 3/4 of the route in his head at the start
Ben getting drunk
@James Miller or Adam calling Ben hey buddy....
This trio is like Jeremy, James and Richard from grand tour.
What an awful thing to say about somebody
I hope not. Those three turned out to be awful people, especially the maniac and the little one
we’ve finally reached a generation who refer refer to them from GT instead of Top Gear. Sigh…
the fanbse is engaged but this is desirable reality content like what used to be on cable televsion 10-15 years ago, that is back is a clearly superiors quality.
I’d like the idea of four teams because there’d be temporary alliances formed out of necessity during the gameplay.
love these guys!!
I think that they are all important parts of the channel but Ben and Adam just usually overshadow Sam.
I always see B/A as the comic relief team that usually also much more cunning in how they play the game.
@@loganleroy8622 yeah, because they are solely focused on it, therefore they can play it very effectively.
I wish you guys would market your challenge cards. They are very creative & fun!
I'm one of the 12 who have seen Jet Lag, don't follow the folks on Twitter, and have watched this video through to the end. Hello! 👋
Dave where did you get your jeans? For years I've been searching for the holy grail, grey jeans with a contrasting turnup. Thanks in advance
Boss
@@dwiskus thanks, I'll start searching.
I super agree with Ben. When I went to Korea last year I bought a total of 1200 plastic straws... I'm hopefully now set for life and hopefully I will never have to use another paper straw ever again.
I dont exactly buy into the "i bet X is doing Y" moments followed by a clip of exactly that, but since its just too hilarious its okay with me lol
Also can we talk about the drip Ben has like i guenuenly never care about looks but dammn
I need a sequel to this video just being the straw argument
Yeah. Release the Ben cut. Nebula exclusive is fine.
release the uncut straw convo 👏
Tag across the British isles
I'm yet to watch Jet Lag but it's the backlog. Seems like a cool idea and it seems like a good show if it's that popular.
Nice goggle tan Sam I got one going too
Glad to be one of the twelve people to make it to the end of the video who don’t follow any of them on Twitter! Wait why am I glad to be one of them? Hold on let me go do that one second
Ok I’m back there we go
This is masterful
we demand the straw cut
I wanna hear this straw conversation!
Sam, i can tell you why the fan base is so deep. Trains.
I really appreciate the honesty with the timeline. I was watching the race across the US and I was wondering if it was really that close. It was nice to feel that it wasn't a made up timeline.
Ben's controversial take isn't even that controversial, it's just flat true.
Yes but whose money was being spent on the first season
I would listen to 50 minutes of them rambling about straws.
Do one in india. Its going to be awesome
Cant wait for Japan
I didn’t have any of you on Twitter so there you go!
