I just picked mine up, mainly to have a larger liner, but if I soften it and lengthen stroke I could pack color? plus even keep a short throw and slow it down to shade right? Pretty much anything!?

Hey Dan! Great video, thanks for the explanations. My friend has a v6 and we tuned it a few days ago and made sure it sounded the way he wanted it to.. now he says it can't seem to run an open 14 when before he would have clean and sharp lines around 5.5-6v. I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow morning, but have you got any clue what could it be? The only things we touched were the cam, the contact screw on the back of the armature bar and the tuning screw at the bottom of the machine.

@@dankubin5386 oh so basically every few months give it a little turn so it "refreshes itself" kinda like how you file the contact screw on a coil?

Hey one question. It looks like a Coil machine, with the armbar. but there is a rotating circle like in a rotary?

Ok.. taking this back to the whole origin of the idea..
To design a machine that isnt a coil.. but performs like coil.. ie, a more linear motion with the bar, giving an in out hit LIKE a coil.. opposed to a wheel/rotary hit.
    Great bit of engineering..
However.. seeing the amount of tuning/tweaking/ink spitting/set up and weight of the machine..
I'm left wondering WHY!! why not just keep using a coil.. and remove the need for what is in essence VERY similar to a coil, but not a coil.. just as heavy(hand trauma still).. noisy, same set up, nipple, needle bending and tubes etc.. same housing.. etc etc..
These are great.. for sure.. but great at what.. replicating a coil 🤷‍♂️
At $1000 it's a very expensive choice.. just buy a good coil.
Sorry.. but this makes no sense to me.. if it was in a pen, or lighter, or battery wireless powered.. I could maybe see it..
    Maybe it's just me

      It’s just you.
This is an instrument. Not a one trick pony.
I love the concept of how a coil hits, but it has limitations based on the coil wire, springs, capacitor, weight of bar, etc. then it has a sweet spot where it wants to run. This will lay a better quality line, and faster with less cycles per second, because it allows for better saturation and less trauma.
The newer sidewinder incarnations are better than this, but it has a lot more versatility and performance than a coil or basic rotary.
      ✌️

      @@dankubin5386 cool..
I just like to think things through Dan.. so many companies naturally promoting their latest gadgets as the holy grail 🤦‍♂️🤣.. and once you understand the basics you kinda realise to sone degree the laws and realities of the capability of either set up.. coil & rotary. Governed to a greater degree by what they are.. not what the manufacturer assures 🤣
So.. thanks for your reply.. it made sense.. what are the weights of the newer sidewinders.. I am in the market for a new machine at mo..
Been reviewing the Neuna 4.. bit of back n fourth with Carson.. seems like a good concept also..
I have many coils.. and many rotaries, dire t drives, pens, pens with give etc etc blah blah..
But I like the idea of a lower vibration type affair.. less hand m wrist stress.. that will pack a solid line, quickly.. which as we know.. standard rotaries struggle with no matter how much you spend 🤣
Saying that.. I also hear very good reports on the FK Spektra EXO 4ml.. apparently very front heavy helping the machine do the work for you
Just want as stress free and peaceful life as poss in all areas 👍
