The first comment on the mentioned video says it all. This guy selling just he’s name and “history” that he doesn’t even know. This patent has invented from a Russian tattoo builder. The cost of the production of this machines is under 200$ with all material and labour.

Yeap, on this price tag somebody would expect at least a japanese motor (if not a Maxon or a Faulhaber one). Some chinese motors do work great and last really long though.

Fancy motor would probably add couple hundred to price

A maxon or faulhaber motor is only €80/100

Weird they ask for a repair price if it's still under warrenty. V3R is assambled by Workhorse but it still should be Dan giving the quality. I think you might want to ask Greg Howie for a different motor. They used to use cheap chinese motors but use Japanese motors now for their sidewinders. Don't forget to reset your impact screw from time to time.

As long as it works I don't care what motor it is on other hand it's a bit weird that it so cheap

I’ve been using dan kubin since the very first sidewinders. Those trashy motors make me want to never buy them again. They are so overpriced to use cheap Chinese motors. This is ridiculous. Now the latest v3/23 use different motor, better I believe.
Since they don’t use fancy electronics like pen machines, you can put a good precision Swiss motor inside of this crap and forget about it. Theres is a guy on Spain that does this repairs

For this issue fix is like 5-10 minute job

The positive pole of the motors supplies power and negative pole is grounded to the frame. In this case positive side touch the frame where negative side makes contact. This create a “short circuit”. If you don’t take action fast this may cause the brushes inside the motor to wear out very fast and completely destroy the motor from overheating

While I was having this issue it felt like it's warming up more than usual

Dan Kubin has a lot of good videos on UA-cam about tuning his machines, probably just adjust the contact screw

I tried adjusting contact screw and it did nothing but so far it feels that I have sorted my issue

Tthey are really reliable I first thought this now that im building and traveled many builders use them just cause they last long have higher torque at low volts and dont cost 100 dollars to replace the v5 v6 dmv mojosñider and dmc and dmcv2 uses faulhaber motors .i think dan got fed up on how unreliable and expensive they were
