I so appreciate you making this video! Traveling from JFK to Manhattan tomorrow and was uneasy about the uncertainty of it all. This was just perfect! Thank you!

Absolutely brilliant vid mate, well done, this is invaluable to me as a guide to get from JFK to Grand Central and 42nd Street, im now more confident, thank you😁👍
Great info Sifat...thank you very much
Thanks you so much I have taken full notes for when I come to New York so this has been a huge help 😊
Thanks for the video. I’ll be visiting NYC at the end of April and I’ll be using The LIRR. This was a lot of help honestly. Thank you!!
Great video, Sifat. New York is incredible. It is on such a massive scale that no other US city remotely approached. Like London, Paris, and Tokyo, it's a world unto itself.
Wow! Such a cool video! Thank you for making it! Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank You! Very informative.
This was tremendously helpful. Thank you!

The Best!
You did a great job!
Thank you so much for the guidance, it really makes me feel so much more relax from worrying about how to pay and buy tickets. Everything are quite digital now with tap and go credit card payment I don't even need cash!
Thank you for this detailed video. It saved me a lot of money especially considering I left JFK past 10 pm. Don't know how I would have made it to midtown Manhattan without having watched this video.
thank you do match for this vidéo excellent ❤❤
Afternoon sifat hope your well my friend
Excellent and very useful
Welcome to NYC
Thanks for the trip. Greetings from Germany.
Good job 😊😊😊😊
Thanks for this. This is the video I will use when we travel to jfk airport, coming from albany.
Hi SiFat great 👍🏾 informative video. I saw the woman who runs the Roosevelt Island Kiosk (Judy) in your video. She passed you wearing a red coat when you got off the Long Island Railroad and headed out of the terminal.
. I am from IRAN 🇮🇷 and really enjoy watching your beautiful video. Thanks for sharing 👍
I LOVE THIS CITYYY
I love this city, for Rock & Roll ! 🇺🇲
Very helpful video Sifat! The first time I visited NYC I made circles all around Terminals with the AirTrain!! There was no Long Island Railway back then (2010). It would be great if you toured guide us the neighbourhoods as the LIRR passes through!!
The LIRR has existed for more than a century.
Good morning from GA.
very helpful video !!! thank you so much
Thanks for the video. Quite a long walk from Madison Concourse to 42nd street especially if you carry any luggage - in a future video you could show all entrances and exits to/from 44-48 streets between Madison Concourse and Madison Avenue. Those save walking distance and time. Some escalators seemed to be under construction, though.
Mobile app to pay LIRR fare? I guess you can already use Mobile phone instead of Metro card - also a major time saver to avoid queueing to ticket machines.
Don't you have to queue to pay the Airtrain fare? Newbie here, heading to NYC soon.
I am making this journey for the first time soon, I'm a bit confused as to why you bought a City ticket instead of a regular single ticket?
Thanks!
Thank you so much 😊
you are welcome, going to NYC this week. Maybe ill run into you! regards
Hopefully 🤞🏻
Thanks for a great video! Is there a way to purchase round trip tickets on your phone? If so when do you recommend getting tickets on your phone (24 hours before?). I know you can't get Airtrain MetroCard on your phone but where can you get one at Grand Central Madison roundtrip?
Awesome video. It's probably nice if you want to save that $50-$60 and have a little faster experience than a yellow taxi. I do however think that someone who just got off a very long international flight may possibly not be in the mood to get on different trains, do additional walking and eventually still use a Taxi from Grand Central to get to their Hotel. Also, the scennery with the Long Island Railroad is in my opinion not so nice and for a first time visitor to have that scenery experience as the introduction to the city may not be so pleasant. I can definitely see a lot of benefits to this way of travel, but I think a yellow taxi for my first experience will be better. Maybe a great way to go back to JFK after the visit. So thankful that you made this video thanks Sifat. :-)
An update should be that the airtrain also finally accepts contactless payments (OMNY), so you no longer need to buy a metrocard and can just tap your phone/card :)
As that ol' infamous phrase goes - 'New York City, city that never sleeps' ! 😎
What a beautiful idea it's like orly and roissy CDG in Paris in France !
Correction: I always take the Airtrain "Howard Beach" last station to transfer to the A subway line straight to Columbus Circle and up along Penn Station. (You can transfer to the 5, 4,5 or 6 train at Fultonstreet if necessary (eats Manhattan and Grand Central. Back to JFK it's easier to take the E train from Times Square to Jamaica Station. Costs: Airtrain $8 and subway $2.90.
Thank you.
Hi 😀
Good night Sifat, would you recommend this route / transportation type if your flight gets in very late at night or extremely early on mornings?
Thank you so much for this interesting question! In that case I am not recommend this! Then taxi and Uber is the best! But you can take subway 24/7 or but most of the time you will land a time that you can take this route! This is just a demonstration! It’s not necessary to take! All depends on your comfort!
That reminds me from the movie Madagascar in Dreamworks released in 2005
👍🏼
Thank you for the very informative video on traveling from JFK to Penn Station but my plane is scheduled to arrive at about 10:05pm and I must know what LIRR I could get at that hour or would I be required to wait until morning. Personally, I'd rather wait at the airport than at Jamaica station as.a matter of better security .
Public transportation in NYC operates 24/7--including LIRR. after midnight, LIRR trains from Jamaica into Manhattan are less frequent, but so many lines go through Jamaica station that you won't have to wait very long. And the trains are clean and pleasant and the staff friendly and helpful.
Great video - as always. I'm arrivng at JFK at the end of next month and have two questions. Firstly, I believe the full timetable will be operational by then - so what is the latest time trains will be running to Grand Central by then? Secondly, I couldn't see from the video but do the AirTain ticket machines at Jamaica have a contactless faciity? I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating these superb videos.
Hi, Thank you so much for your feedback. I appreciate it.
So the train timing will be more or less same except it won’t be express! But not a huge difference and second i don’t think so for air train there is any contact less way, you have to insert card or cash 💵
@@TheNYCWalkingShow Thank you. That’s very helpful.
Do LaGuardia and Newark airport as well......
If im correct do we have to use metro card
Hi there thank you very much for all your help. We are two people with Luggage (two suitcases) and our flight is landing in JFK on Saturday 3rd June at 1.00 pm. Considering time of the day and that we have two suitcases would you recommend to take a taxi or the air train? As we are staying only 4 days in New York we do not want to lose too much time in traffic but have two suitcases. Cost is not a priority. Thank you in advance for you help
Hi 👋 Thank you so much finding it helpful. Since it’s Saturday at 1.00 PM. It’s very good. You can use either a texi or air train. Saturday right around that time it shouldn’t be that crazy traffic to go to manhattan unless any accidents. On the other hand, you can take air train and because of the weekend it will be way comfortable in terms of crowd. So you have two options ♥️ I hope you will have a wonderful time.
My recommendation to take air train. Just to have a different experience ♥️🙏 hopefully it will be a smooth ride.
This presentation is good, assuming you don't have large luggage or aren't disabled person. Here is my take
1. I have seen too many people (mostly European tourists) take stairs down to Jamaica LIRR platform like you do, which is unwise when you have super heavy luggage. Take elevator instead, just behind the stairs.
2. From Grand Central LIRR platform to Madison Concourse, there are elevators, especially for people who can not handle high-climbing escalators, as you point out.
3. From Madison Concourse to Dining Concourse, there are elevators to choose from; the first is to your right of the other side of blue mosaic, second is in the Vanderbilt Avenue exit which to your right before making a left up to Dining, and the third is to your left by the blue double door; simply take the ramp and make a left U turn, or make a right to the corner
JFK to Manhattan March 5th 2024. SIMPLE. After spending best part of 2 hours in customs we were on our way. Having picked up bags we followed signs for Air Train to Jamaica Station. It’s a shuttle train goes every few minutes. You pay as you exit Air Train and into Jamaica Station. Cost $8.50, pay by just touching your credit card on barrier. Staff there to help. 20yds in front of you follow the large sign which says Long Island Rail Road, can’t miss it. Once you enter the LIRR there will be a ticket machine on your left. Again staff in red high viz will help you. Ticket from Jamaica to Penn Station, off peak only $5. Yes that is a total of $13.50 from JFK to Penn Station. You could catch a different train to Grand Central. We did the reverse on the 9th again $13.50. Time from catching Air Train to Penn Station, 30 minutes.
They don't have OMNY on the Airtrain station yet ?
I wonder if taxi prices are now even higher cause of congestion pricing in lower manhattan
I imagine there are also elevators to take instead of escalators at grand central..?
Can we say LIRR is safer and neat as compared to Subway?
Hi Sifat! I want to make you a question, please answer me, from JFK Airport you can travel by Air train to Howard beach, so you can take there a Subway A to Penn Station is that right? This Will be $8 for Air train and $2.75 for the Subway correct?
Hi! You are absolutely correct ✅ soon I will make a video about it!
Thanks a lot Sifat, we, will wait for your Next video, have a bless day!! 🤩
Where do you buy a Airtrain ticket/metro card at the airport ?! Cause you already had it done at the beginning of the video ...
Hi, i need help, if i landed at JFK after midnight, can i get to Penn station taking LIRR late , it is 24 hours service. I am worry because i Will be taking an Amtrak to DC
LIRR run 24 hours. Don’t worry. Just follow the instructions 🙏
Ether blows in a particular direction
How About Operational Hour for Airtrain?
JFK air train is 24/7
I understand there have bean some reform since this video was made, I understand that I don't need a metro card any longer,, I can use my cc card_
👍🙂💖🎁🎄🎈🍀☃
maybe
however
Since NYC taxis charge by the length of the ride and not the number of passengers it may be a lot easier for a party
of 3 or more to take a taxi door-to-door
and
Taking the AirTrain to Howard Beach is a good option bc it allows you to connect to the A train
and
For many New Yorkers who work in Lower Manhattan taking the LIRR to Flatbush Avenue Brooklyn and then connecting
to subways into Manhattan is a better option
and
Grand Central is a less-than-an-ideal destination bc only a few subways connect to i
lastly
NYC mass transit is designed to carry people NOT people and their luggage
The visitor will get no joy from schlepping themselves and their luggage into and out of crowded buses and trains
and schlepping themselves and their luggage up and down multiple flights of stairs
🚅 🤩💗
What are you saying? Are you saying Grand Central Madison?
