Question: My chimney needs replacing, I've got a gas fireplace so not necessarily needed but still need something to vent. Is it cheaper to rebrick or knock down and seal it and vent from the side of the house?
Where else would you nail the Lomanco vent? The top and bottom? It doesn't hold well unless you nail it all around, his nail pattern I copy for the vents, never knew after a long duration it would leak since I cut a channel around the vent for water
Holds just fine if you nail the top and use water proof grommet screws for bottom. The water channel you cut out is key as well. Makes a huge difference. I'd say it's okay to nail sides of vent if you cover nail with caulking
Caulking the base of the vent before you install will help it remain seated, then a nail on either side of the top flange and two at the very to keep it from slipping. We like to Ice/water shield the flange after this step to seal in those nails and help seal it down to the deck. Then secure the base with grommet screws.
what's up with the sad background music? haha.. Are you not happy to be able to destroy this unfixable chimney that you probably gave so much of your free time trying to fix it and nothing have ever worked? Acdc would have been my background music lol
My kind of guy. No elaborate safety bullshit
Can you link the hammer you are using for the chimney removal?

Would be nice if he stuck to just removing the chimney on this video and explained what he was doing every step of the way.
No harness for safety? Why?
These guys float on roofs its creepy

Great work. But, dust control is a legal and ethical responsibility
Safety line.
