First I was wondering why you didn't chose to replace Torchic so you had to fight a ground type. Then I remembered how insignificant the rival in Gen 3 is :D
It would be far too difficult. They do this sometimes. They pick the wrong Pokémon to replace, on purpose. It's even worse when it wouldn't be too difficult. They clearly made a mistake. But, it was when they already put a ton of time into making a video.
3:04 I'm gonna guess level 30. I'll return when I find out if I'm right or not 5:20 UPDATE. now hearing if he's gonna Have to be level 30 makes me think I'm right or I didn't guess high enough. 6:13 2nd update. Looks like I was right. Well damn. All right onto the rest of the video 6:32. It has to be a 1st try victory. Probably a 1 shot to everyone. 9:15. It gets me how the proper pronunciation of Manectric is in fact Mane-eck-trick. I've been pronouncing it Muh-Neck-Trick for so long it astounded me. It literally has the word MANE in the name. Also i find it odd that his Ace is Ruby/Saphire is Magneton and in Emerald its Manectric. Manectric IS the correct ace for Watson so the fact that they go back to Magneton for ORAS grinds my gears 11:04 I remember being walled on Flanery for a while during my Articuno only run. Whenever he does a Nuzlocke and he gets an Absol its always named Milkshake and the chat loves donating to kill the Absol much to his disliking 19:56 there's a ROM hack for emerald that speedrunners like to use for Emerald call Emerald Speedchoice. They mainly use it for meme runs and catch em all runs. It has a feature where u can do things like holding A to instantly run through text, skipping the Aqua/Magma events and other Quality of life changes. My friend Myzlstyx is in the middle of an Emerald EX CEA where he has to catch all 898 pokemon (Emerald EX has all pokemon up to SWSH) in order that the names would score in Scrabble. I've been wanting to see this run for years. Thanks for the video MDB these runs really make my Saturdays 😃
I guess level 30 for the rock gym. The secret power TM exists. It's used to make a secret base. It also has secondary effects. The root fossil is always good to take. I thought the fire gum would be hard. But, you got return so it didn't use up too much time. I'm guessing level 70 for the psychic gym. The video was quite entertaining. It's not every day we see a mareep used in a Pokémon run.
Small advice for grinding EVs in Emerald: If you have a need for stat you can't reliably get early, like in this run and you want to "save" some free EVs you can fill with special attack just grind against wild whismur only. They can be very reliably encountered in the tunnel and you will get health EVs from them (which are always a good choice). You might max out on HP-EVs but not on any other so you will have some free to go for Special Attack later in the run.
I think you’re amazing at sponsorships because you sound genuine and convincing when talking about the sponsor rather than lifeless and generic like the 10,000 RSL advertisements. It makes people actually see it as good products rather than desperate shilling.
Mareep is so cute! I shouldn't hope for a Shinx run anytime soon then, but I really loved this run! And there's so many Pokémon to use in all kinds of games
Insane endurance to do such a brutal grind! Almost don't know how you do it, much respect for managing to put these out weekly. And a suggestion: A run with only one Haunter! I know you normally do first stage mons, but Gastly is so fragile and doesn't hit that hard so I'm not sure that would be feasible.
This is indeed my best favorite serie in your channel, and the best cathegory for me about Pokemon challenges. Nice gameplay as always Mr. MDB, greetings from Chile. 👍😁
Hey! Been a huge fan for a long time and taken up challenges myself! one thing i've learned and something that would've helped here and in other gen 3 runs (FRLG and RSE) is secret power, in gen 3 its 70 base power physical move usually with paralysis as its added effect so a decent upgrade on tackle when you hit roadblocks like Maxie when you cant get return yet! most pokemon learn it including mareep and you can grab it on cerulean cape in FRLG and By the old healing ladies house in RSE, hope this helps for future runs and as always love the content!
I'm not sure, but maybe Cotton Guard would've helped out in the first gym more than growl? You only need two to max out your def, and I know it still leaves you vulnerable to crits, but I was surprised to see you pass up on it! Still though, amazing run as always, had a blast watching. Would love to maybe see a starter only run at some stage? Like, just to put one of the starters to the test and see if you can bring your first Pokémon all the way to victory!
An interesting challenge idea I have is a Leaf Green challenge. You must only use Female Pokemon (except for Pokemon that are always Male such as Tauros), you can't use any that you didn't capture at lvl 6 or less, you also are still trying to fill the Pokedex, you can evolve the Pokemon, and you must also do the Post-Game & Challenge your Rival again, you can breed Pokemon but similarly you can't use any that aren't Female (except for the ones that are 100% Male).
at 0:57, I really thought Mah-Dry-Bread was going to say "We might just need Thunderbolt & Lightning... Very very frightening". This would've been awesome
Thank goodness you're finally using speedup to grind! You've proven your patience and perseverance enough, it got to the point where you were unnecessarily torturing yourself. Hope you are enjoying doing these runs a bit more now!

Your comment about saving the world creased me XD I cant believe that at level 91 you were still getting out-sped by Flygon! Congratulations on the long term sponsorship too :) Week 42: would you be able to beat Pokémon Crystal with a team of only one Porygon
Your Pokémon runs have inspired me to do random challenges I think are fun. I beat Crystal as a bug catcher, and I’m working on White with only water types and Emerald with only 1 Seviper.
My guesses for levels were 28 for Roxanne and capped at 100 for Tate & Liza, and I'm very surprised that you were able to beat them before that--kudos! It's so nice to hear that you have a sponsor you enjoy working with and trust; that's such a rare thing--and believe me, every time I worked in sales, my own stubborn honesty was what sold things, and I always did worse when they expected me to read off of a script. I'm glad it's working out, and I just wonder whether they sell more than shirts! I unfortunately have a *sea* of shirts and certainly don't need any more, but I love to support my favourite content creators. But will you ever take the Claw Fossil?
A way to grind in gen 3 is to get the phone number for trainers (automatic after you beat them, look up a list) and just walk in and out of their route repeatedly. Check periodically to see if you've triggered a rematch. Note that this only kicks in after Norman. Alternately, you can rebattle the camera duo repeatedly.
hey mah dry bread ive been watching u for a few years now and recentley came back to you. All of your content is great and i watch ur playthroughs as well. I also like how u do the fallout and elder scrolls challenges so could u bring them back? i dont know if u said anything about stoping them but they are really entertaining
4:42 the poor guy watched as mareep learned a grass type attack, went in to see what it did, and quickly moved on with his life. I felt that pain, ngl.
I don't think I can unsee this, but during the end credits at 25:45 (and I might be the only one to see this), May and Brendan look like they have goatees
An idea just occurred to me: Having a team made up of the signature pokemon (usually the highest level one) of every gym leader with the moveset they have when you face them. Maybe only pick the last six leaders and leave out the first two so the moves aren't totally awful. Game of your choice.
i think, keyword think you could have gotten the tm for secret power next to the hold lady who heals you right after firey path. there's a cooltrainer staring at a tree and he gives it to you, the same one to make secret bases. i don't know if that would have helped against maxie first battle, but just a thought for any future runs that struggle against camerupt.

Congrats to your sponsorship. Rreally like it, that you are very honest with it. Even if it was an advertisement, it was really fun to watch, cuz you was honest and had no really idea what to say and how long you had to do it. Made it way more personal and enjoyable to watch.
Man, I wonder what fossil he took.
Also, I think a Ledian run could be cool.
What about a Ledyba run?
Jesus, Ledian is so terrible
Mdb is gonna suffer lmao
It's a shame because I really like Ledyba and Ledian. I played a rom-hack once which made Ledian very useful with higher stats and better abilities, and it was very fun using him, cause he punch 😄
@@RazorIvy470 not even MDB deserves that
@@RazorIvy470 omg that’s such an evil idea. I bet MDB could do it though hahah
Awesome job; I normally use Mareep (technically for an Ampharos, but you get my point) when I play Emerald as my electric type and you're one of the UA-camrs who inspire me to create more video content.
My guess: First gym beaten when lvl 25.
I look forward to these runs every week, great job as always.
I'm so proud of you dude! So happy to see you getting a wicked awesome sponsor and just able to live life doing what you love. So cool to see you get this far from day one. Here's to many more years to come of your success 🙌
1: beat Roxanne at level 25
2: Brawly will not be a problem
3: what fossil did you pick
4: beat Tate & Liza at level 75
I was close on some of these
I typically don't comment on your videos however i thoroughly enjoy these challenges.. I really gotta thank you for this awesome content bro.. I've been feeling sick and nauseous from my cancer medication and your videos help so much. don't ever stop man it helps people like me out a lot.
Thank you!
FINALLY! THE BEST SHEEP!
Mareep's one of my favorite Pokémon! I have fond memories of catching one early in Silver and using it for the entire game. =D This was fun to watch!
Not even sure if anyone pointed this out, but I love how well Drake's line fit with what Mah-Dry-Bread said at 21:31.
Sounds like a level 24 Roxanne fight!
My guess was 22.
Finally! My run has finally seen it’s fruition. Awesome video!
If I remember correctly, doesn’t lax incense give a slight evasion boost? Why not use that against flygon?
He could’ve also banked on the 1/256 glitch if it’s in this game, I know it’s rare but for some reason MDB gets it every second or third video
@@ApatheticHamster that’s only in gen 1, not gen 3. But yeah if this run was in Ben 1 he could’ve also done that too
Congrats on the success on your Khimyra sponsorship, that's really awesome. Really enjoyed the Mareep efforts too!
3:04 I'm gonna guess level 30. I'll return when I find out if I'm right or not
5:20 UPDATE. now hearing if he's gonna Have to be level 30 makes me think I'm right or I didn't guess high enough.
6:13 2nd update. Looks like I was right. Well damn. All right onto the rest of the video
Manectric IS the correct ace for Watson so the fact that they go back to Magneton for ORAS grinds my gears
11:04 I remember being walled on Flanery for a while during my Articuno only run. Mainly on Torkoal. Overheat and sunny day were too much of a Wumbo Combo for Cuno for a while. I did manage to beat her after like 15 tries
11:45 Hey which fossil did you take? 😃
13:24 I'm gonna guess level 69 for the memes. 😃
16:12 to my knowledge all I had to do on tate and liza during my Cuno run was blizzard their whole team since Blizzard works on both pokes at once. It still took me a couple tries but it wasn't that bad
16:43 well looks like it was higher than I thought but that's ok. The video is great so far. I'm really enjoying watching the video. O and Commenting while I'm watching it
17:36 Screw Juan and his double teaming Kindra
18:08 I think you're gonna win but not without being in the high 80's
18:37 my good friend Overlordzetta1 has a meme about an Absol he lovingly calls Milkshake. Whenever he does a Nuzlocke and he gets an Absol its always named Milkshake and the chat loves donating to kill the Absol much to his disliking
19:56 there's a ROM hack for emerald that speedrunners like to use for Emerald call Emerald Speedchoice. He's currently 53 hours in. It's segmented of course so he's not doing it all at once thank God. Otherwise he'd be dead after the first 30 straight hours
20:22 I had a feeling we'd be in the low 90's by now
21:11 FINALLY! SO LONG FLYGON!
21:38 I now call Gyrados "Water Onix" thanks to ur videos. Thanks MDB
22:06 Milotic isn't actually a Psuedo-Legendary. The only 2 psuedos are Salamance and Metagross
22:38 I doesn't SEEM impossible but will you win? No clue
23:23 what a way to end the run. Loved the video from start to finish. Can't wait for the next run
23:45 A pokemon Black run on my Birthday? Sign me up. I'm excited 😊
23:58 I'd love to see Crystal with Hitmonchan. I've been wanting to see this run for years. Thanks for the video MDB these runs really make my Saturdays 😃
"in order that the names would score in Scrabble"
0_o
I guess level 30 for the rock gym.
The secret power TM exists. It's used to make a secret base. It also has secondary effects.
The root fossil is always good to take.
I thought the fire gum would be hard. But, you got return so it didn't use up too much time.
I'm guessing level 70 for the psychic gym.
The video was quite entertaining.
It's not every day we see a mareep used in a Pokémon run.
Me: Imma guess level thirty for the first gym.
Wooloo: “You can rest now”
Also milotic isn’t a pseudo
Small advice for grinding EVs in Emerald: If you have a need for stat you can't reliably get early, like in this run and you want to "save" some free EVs you can fill with special attack just grind against wild whismur only. They can be very reliably encountered in the tunnel and you will get health EVs from them (which are always a good choice). You might max out on HP-EVs but not on any other so you will have some free to go for Special Attack later in the run.
A good advice!
Are you overweight/obese?
I think you’re amazing at sponsorships because you sound genuine and convincing when talking about the sponsor rather than lifeless and generic like the 10,000 RSL advertisements. It makes people actually see it as good products rather than desperate shilling.
MDB I love you man. Interacting with you on twitter is so fun and you just made my day with the little shout out ❤️
Mareep is so cute!
Love your content as always, dude. You deserve so many more views. You’re an absolute mad lad
Mareep is one of my favorite pokemon, and my favorite electric type.
Shoutouts to Peeram, Luchajin's Mareep in her first playthrough of HeartGold.
Excellent run as always! Love the Wooloo gag. Hoping to see Gen 4 only 1 driftloon
Have you ever noticed how much Drifloon looks like Tentacool?
I'm not sure, but maybe Cotton Guard would've helped out in the first gym more than growl? You only need two to max out your def, and I know it still leaves you vulnerable to crits, but I was surprised to see you pass up on it!
Still though, amazing run as always, had a blast watching. Would love to maybe see a starter only run at some stage? Like, just to put one of the starters to the test and see if you can bring your first Pokémon all the way to victory!
cotton spore =/= cotton guard.
Thank you for taking my favorite Pokemon to the end! I love your videos and can't wait to see more!
Was waiting for this because Mareep is one of my favorite Pokemon EVER
It’s so thrilling that the sponsorship totally pays off your mom’s rent and you’re so relieved by it, that’s so cute!
The fact that your sponsoring sounds so just- Genuine?? You sound so happy to be selling the shirts that I'm charmed into buying one
Nice! Mareep line is my favorite line, hope they get some love in future games
They don't. They want to give Gen 1 mons all the atention.
So glad the Khimyra sponsorship is going well! I went ahead and ordered one of their space whale shirts!
at 0:57, I really thought Mah-Dry-Bread was going to say "We might just need Thunderbolt & Lightning... Very very frightening". This would've been awesome
Thank goodness you're finally using speedup to grind! You've proven your patience and perseverance enough, it got to the point where you were unnecessarily torturing yourself. Hope you are enjoying doing these runs a bit more now!
Omg!!!!! I was SO EXCITED to see this run!!! If you couldn’t tell by name and pfp mareep is my favorite and this was so much fun to watch!
I don’t subscribe to much. I used to sub to jrose. That ended a long time ago.
I sub to a couple of music channels and one wrestler vlog. That’s it
Welcome to the subs. I officially subbed today. You deserve it. I know it’s minuscule in the wide lens of things but that’s my way of showing appreciation to you, even after you cut your Pokémon runs to 2 weeks instead of 1
👍🏽🔥🏆 you’re the man keep kickin dix
So glad you keep making these Pokemon challenge love them so much keep up the great content enjoy your videos so much
Wooloo and Mareep are my 2 favorite Pokémon
Great video! Always looking forward the next one! May I suggest a Sudowoodo run on either a Fire-Red or Emerald? :D
Your comment about saving the world creased me XD I cant believe that at level 91 you were still getting out-sped by Flygon!
Congratulations on the long term sponsorship too :)
Week 42: would you be able to beat Pokémon Crystal with a team of only one Porygon
Congrats on the long term sponsor! You really deserve it.
Congrats on getting past the psychic gym lmao I struggle with that one big time even in normal runs. I usually get to it and then I quit xD
Oh my gosh, I was spot on with the level you needed to beat Roxanne. I guessed level 30.
I guessed level 30 as well.
I’d love to see a shiny only run from you, with longer to do the runs it may be more viable than the past!
Please no. That's be pure masochism.
My favorite Pokémon evolution line! Very excited for this run!
Love the challenges! Hope you keep making them!
The "psuedo legendary milotic" line actually hurt my brain and heart
hey mah dry bread
ive been watching u for a few years now and recentley came back to you.
Wooloo was a little lamb, its fleece not quite like snow
And everywhere the Wooloo went, you better have some ohms
I don't think I can unsee this, but during the end credits at 25:45 (and I might be the only one to see this), May and Brendan look like they have goatees
If you ever stop this series, I would literally cry
MDB: I'm not good at these sponsorship things
Also MDB: *breaks sponsor's record*
An idea just occurred to me: Having a team made up of the signature pokemon (usually the highest level one) of every gym leader with the moveset they have when you face them. Maybe only pick the last six leaders and leave out the first two so the moves aren't totally awful. Game of your choice.
Live commentary on the fossil? You’ve earned a like and comment. Already subscribed
i think, keyword think you could have gotten the tm for secret power next to the hold lady who heals you right after firey path. there's a cooltrainer staring at a tree and he gives it to you, the same one to make secret bases. i don't know if that would have helped against maxie first battle, but just a thought for any future runs that struggle against camerupt.
1. Have you ever considered using Hidden Power for coverage? Depending on the type (eg. water) it could save grinds.
2. Can you beat Pokemon LG/FR ROUND 2 with a . (Jesse and James Team, Ash's Kanto Team, Mono-type, Mono-Color, Gift Pokemon only, etc)
Reminds me of my mono-type electric playthrough of Pokemon Sun. Hapu's Flygon is a beast when your team is all electric types.
I'm glad your using turbo, and am really enjoying your video
You forgot Secret Power, which you could use until you got Return... 70 power, 30% chance of paralysis when used indoors or on the field.
I love the name them after the wrong pokemon gag, in my pokemon insurgence playthrough I had a pikachu named voltorb
5:30 my head went accuracy as well.
Great video as always, I'd love to see a run with swablu, or meditie, last one might be an easy quick one though.
Would love to see a Corsola only run. :)
