That large flame off of the barrels indicates a defeciency. Basically, there is incomplete detonation of the charge within the barrel so the incompletely burned charge is detonating outside of the barrel. I am wondering if a round passing through this detonation would reduce the accuracy. MAybe that is why they had to use 11 barrels. They need more rounds in the air to compensate.

that muzzle flash seems to be common for all rapid fire cannons in the 25mm to 30mm class the GAU 8 the A 10 carries spits flame 6 to 8 feet when fired and the Mauser 27mm rotating breech the German navy uses doe about the same length of flame cone it has little if any effect on accuracy the 11 barrels are there for rate of fire mechanically you need a barrel per 1,000 rounds in the rate of fire on a Gatling style gun and the rate of fire is there for 2 reason one bragging rights on the rate of fire over NATO guns and two the inability to aim and track the target as fine as western systems can!
