    My sister was recently diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and I’ve become her primary caretaker and I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge when you make these types grocery haul videos because they’re so informative and help me decide what best thing to buy and cook for my sister as she continues her battle to fight this cancer! So I just want to say thank you and please keep making more!

      Gus, someone very close to me had ovarian cancer and in my education at that time I found a book that was very helpful that focuses a lot on oils. It's called "The Hidden Story of Cancer" by Brian Peskin. Check it out. (I have no affiliation.) The book backs up the great information in this video (these guys did a really nice job on this) but it goes a lot further regarding cancer. Good luck with everything.

    best for deep frying is 10000% beef tallow. Not only is it the healthiest but you can filter and reuse. Put a bunch in a pot, pour into a mason jar when you're done, and then it will solidify. Highly saturated and stable

    The whole “fat drips on heat source....bad bad bad for you”. I purchased a powered Smokeless indoor grill. The element is suspended under the grill and the grill holes are strategically placed so that the drippings don’t hit the heating element! The fan pulls any smoke from cooking down into a water bath underneath. Avoids the issue when grilling.

    1. Avocado Oil

    I agree for most of the time, deep frying and shallow frying, avocado oil is definately my first choice. However, if I was doing Asian cuisine, I would use expeller pressed peanut oil, as you stated expeller pressed is the way to go when it comes to peanut oil. And it also has a higher smok point like avocado oil does.

    • @NadiaDakroub
      @NadiaDakroub 5 років тому +3

      extra virgin olive oil is used as topical as in salad dressings or sprinkled as a finish on top of foods (hummus) etc
      regular olive oil can be used to cook with, saute etc. Just be careful to read the label as they mix canola oil with olive and pass it off mostly as olive. check ingredients. It should not be mixed with a bad oil like that.
      idk about the different kinds of olives to eat as i would think they are all good on keto

    • @DonyaLane
      @DonyaLane 5 років тому

      Chris Letterio, I would also love to know about which types work best for different uses. I would guess that anything that is further refined (such as, NOT extra virgin, cold pressed) would be unhealthy. One thing I've learned from watching and reading: Olive oil is one of the most commonly "cut" oils. In other words, it's extremely common for it to be blended with a cheaper oil, such as, canola. I don't understand the regulations, but I think the imported Italian companies may be the worst offenders. You really have to do your research on it. I was on another thread, and someone told me to pour a little bit into a cup and keep it in the fridge. If I remember correctly, the olive oil should cloud up, and if it's cut with anything, that other oil remains clear liquid (I may have that backwards, but I think that's correct). The purest brand I have found is California Ranch. Top-quality!

    • @NadiaDakroub
      @NadiaDakroub 5 років тому

      @@DonyaLane
      you can buy regular olive oil that is not mixed with Canola or another oil, for sauteing and cooking
      it is different than the extra virgin pressed olive oil which is more topical.

    Tallow is a rendered form of beef or mutton fat, primarily derived from suet. It is a traditional cooking fat that has been used for centuries in various culinary traditions. Tallow is solid at room temperature and has a high smoke point, making it suitable for high-heat cooking methods like frying and roasting.
    Here are some key points about tallow oil:
    1. **High Smoke Point**: Tallow has a high smoke point, typically around 400-450°F (200-230°C), which makes it ideal for deep frying and other high-temperature cooking methods. Its stability at high temperatures makes it less likely to break down and produce harmful compounds compared to oils with lower smoke points.
    2. **Flavor**: Tallow has a rich, savory flavor that can enhance the taste of dishes. It adds a delicious umami quality to fried foods and roasted dishes.
    3. **Nutritional Profile**: Tallow is a source of saturated fats, which have been controversial in the past but are now recognized as being neutral or even beneficial for health in moderation. Tallow also contains some monounsaturated fats. It is free of trans fats, which are considered unhealthy.
    4. **Versatility**: Tallow can be used for a variety of cooking methods, including frying, roasting, sautéing, and even baking. It is a versatile cooking fat that can add a unique flavor to dishes.
    5. **Sourcing**: It is important to source high-quality tallow from pasture-raised or grass-fed animals to ensure that you are getting a healthier fat profile with beneficial nutrients.
    While tallow has many advantages as a cooking fat, it is important to consider your dietary preferences and health goals when incorporating it into your cooking. Like any fat source, moderation is key, and it's always a good idea to balance your fat intake with a variety of other healthy fats in your diet.
    If you are interested in trying tallow as a cooking oil, consider experimenting with it in your favorite recipes to see how it enhances the flavor and texture of your dishes.

    QUESTION: What's up with GRAPESEED oil? Because it's a seed oil, I have removed it from my diet. Is there ever a time when it's acceptable? Is it ever organic, expeller pressed? And when would you cook with it?

    Wait Bobby, the 365 canola oil from Whole Foods says “refined” expeller pressed. It’s a trick. They refine it with the hexane process after expeller pressing it just like every other crap oil.
