- In this episode of Station Saturday, the A shift crew takes you for a tour of Firehouse 12 on S. Broadway in Littleton, Colorado.
*Due to the large amount of responses, Lt. Becker's email has been taken down so the Station 12 A shift crew can go through the current recipes they already received. Thank you for all of the great entries!*
Love that the tour was passed off through the crew. Obviously a great crew.
I live right around the corner from here these guys are great and super friendly
21:38 Wow, amazing that you framed the german "Feuerwehrmagazin" article of Ladder 12. I still have this magazine at home.
Thank you Connor and Eric for everything you do
I have an Idea for a video (series) I would like to learn more about the history of South Metro Fire Rescue and the departments that have merged with your department. I would like to learn about when SMFR became a full time department and did SMFR operate as a Paid on Call or fully Volunteer Department. Nice video Connor. I would also like to learn more about the ARPS group also please.
I worked there from 79 to 2012 and wet through the mergers. I can probably answer any questions you may have. If you would like to, look me up on FB and message me. Thanks Dave Hoff
One of the best tours yet! And very educational for someone who wants to join the South Metro team, keep up the good work guys!
AWESOME VIDEO Tour of Station 12 😎 Thanks to All who toured us around your Beautiful Station . Very family oriented crew and great descriptions of every room there 👏👏😀
very cool love the tour
Thanks guys awesome tour I send my best to you all, looks like a fine group of people!
Just got my patch!!! It’s absolutely gorgeous!!! It’s a piece of art!!!
Very well done video. I can't wait until the next episode
Conner and Eric thank you so much for the south metro patch.
Received it in the mail today.
Awesome video, and great group of guys. Looks like a really fun and educational place to work.
You did a great job thanks to the walk thru.
Hello to everybody at Firehouse 12 from my wife and myself. We got married about 1 month ago. We enjoy watching these videos and Hello from Brunswick, OH. (20-miles south of Cleveland). I am trying to become a firefighter at SMFR, I might be old but recruit office I should be ok. God Bless everybody and thank you for your service and I hope to work with all of you when I'll be a rookie/old man (lol). :)
Nice video. Love the station 12 doors and logo
Station 12 is The Pirates Of Broadway
wow Ladder 12 is pretty cool good people
So thrilled to have this tour
stay safe out there
I thought that was Connor filming this one. Like the Pirate Logo. Great Station Saturday review of Firehouse 12 Eric. It is always better the prevent fires than fight them. I thought that was door number One and door number Two, but nice paint job. Part of my family lives in Littleton so I am glad you all are there to provide them with protection. I take that that's the Dinner Bell on the wall. That is the downside of 24/7 service someone has to work holidays. Been there done that way too many times. The "Beatings will Continue, Until the Morale Improves" eh? OJT in the kitchen just makes sense. Awesome prizes and public involvement.
Awesome station, very cool theme and logo. I wish my department had some badass hoodies like that!
@SouthMetroFireRescue- Centennial, Colorado Connor Great job putting this video together. Keep up the good work.
I noticed a Backdraft poster that was near the Battalion office and that is a Good Movie
Excellent tour
I don’t live in Colorado but I love the video
Love the “ the beatings will continue until morale improves “ flag in the weight room! Lol
I know this isn't a station but could you guys do a station Saturday of your fleet maintenance or add it to the bag
That
would be so cool!
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Do it of Matt West

Those hoodies are sweet!! Wish I had one!
I like the recepie idea! That's cool!
Hey Conner and Eric I just got my patch in the mail thx soo much
I love all of this. My wife is in training right now. You should invest in a fumble for the camera.
Looks like a big fire station!!!
South Metro Rocks!

Nagyon szerencsés vagyok itt élni és dolgozni. Vigyázz magadra!
I can’t wait until there is a fleet Friday on ladder 12!! When would that be?
Fleet Friday on rehab 12 and truck 12
what a cool station :0)
Quite an improvement from the previous Station 12 located a few doors to the south on Broadway!
LT Becker, we got a chicken enchilada here at SLCFD..
Rehab 12!
Rehab 12!
Rehab 12!
Can you please do a Fleet Friday or two on any of your Fleet maintenance equipment?
Your videos are really motivating me to become a firefighter it looks like an amazing and fun job. Keep up the amazing work with the videos!! And I was wondering if you can send me a hoodie because they seem really amazing and I’ll love to have one
I know things have been said in past videos "this rig was acquired in the merger with so and so" or "this rig was speced out before the merge". Is there anyway at some point you could do something along the lines of "History of South Metro Fire Rescue" explaining all the merges and so on. Just some food for thought
Awesome looking station and can't wait for the fleet Friday of Ladder 12. Station 12 must be the pride of South Metro or is just more popular all together being it is the only ladder station and seems to have an awesome crew each shift because more vids were made out of that station. Not complaining nor is it a bad thing though
AWESOME LOOKING STATION AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FRIDAY OF LADDER 12 STATION 12
Seems like a solid more senior (mature) fire station crew!
"Bins for miscellaneous parts of things we took apart and couldn't put back together..." Wait, when were you guys in my garage???
Pierces are excellent units where I live in Bangor Maine my communities Fire Department has a fleet of them
Thanks boys and girls in red
Will you guys ever do anything on Station 14? I don't think I've ever even seen them mentioned in one of your videos.
Out of curiosity, how did this station gain it's pirate moniker and theme? You mentioned something about stealing calls, and I'm curious what you meant by that.
Is this the same station that yall did the day in the life of a firefighter vid?
Yes it is
@@Brandon.1521 thanks
No problem
3:43 Hi Connor.
Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
I've got a question if you was to have a big fire at the fire house would you be able to put it out your selves or would you have to call for back up?
They will fight it just like it's any other structure fire however if they're unable to get the rigs out in enough time then they'll use the other rigs that come on in for backup
Great video! Can I ask from Eric Szabo, that is he from Hungary? Szabó is hungarian name, "sz" letter is hungarian. Szabó means tailor. Gyula Kiss, Tata, Hungary
Great video, although i think the little things like making the drone footage less choppy and snappy would make it flow better!
This is going to be a good video and a super good station
Bit late, but what is the story behind the Hoff (2007?) framed in your foryer?
That is a sexy truck! US flag and Pirate flag just gotta flip flop :)
Questions:
What the ranks of the North/South & West Metro Fire Rescue?
Whos the head Chief of Training of South and West Metro?
What’s with the white tarps over the occupied gear racks? Never seen that before.
Would be cool to see what the old station 12 use to look like.
I can’t wait !!!!!!!
Hey, isn't this the same station that was used during the 'Firefighter - A Day in the Life
' video
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Cool!
Anyway to buy shirts from the firehouses, would love to rep the brothers and sisters
In SMFR is their 1 person thats always on a apparatuses like someone is always on Medic Passenger or like Engine Crew?
The apparatus that are staffed full-time are the suppression (engines and aerials), medic units, and command units. These units will sometimes be unstaffed in favor of specialty apparatus (e.g. brush, tender, rescue, dive, hazmat, etc.) for special call types. SMFR cross-staffs the specialty apparatus with their front line units as they are only used in specific cases and therefore do not need a full-time crew.
They still taking recipes? I am actually the shift cook for our station out in our dept and I've got quite a few ideas that I've tinkered with that our guys really like
Good job South metro.
Yes
dident dise staysen sowe up on the taye in aye layfe ave aye fire fiter?
Wow very nice firetruck I'm a fire volunteer in Philippines
I was looking forward to submitting my recipe
☹️
When is the next station Saturday?
I can’t wait
Can we see another day in the life of a firefighter here soon?
What is the background music called?
Next station tour can you do a talk about station 20 please?
Can I send Lt. Becker recipes again at some point?
woooop
what if you got a call while doing thiss?
Do your fire stations ever get food donated by local restaurants?
👍🏼👍🏼
What is the difference between a ladder company and an aerial and a tower?
Ladder company is a crew that is assigned to a ladder truck whether is be a tower ladder or straight stick. Straight stick is an aerial ladder that looks like a normal ladder (the one featured here). A tower ladder is an aerial ladder with a bucket at the end of the ladder.
An aerial is a catch-all term for any truck with some type of device that can extend above a building. For South Metro, a ladder is an aerial without anything at the end of the ladder and it is also known as a "straight stick" because of that. A tower is a ladder with a platform at the end of it that allows people to stand in it.
Yea
Connor where was Jo? I thought he was on A shift
Do you guys have a LUCAS cpr machine or something similar?
@captain tackberry There are 5 Battalions, I believe 1 District Chief, and Battalion 5 covers 6 stations. 31,35,42,22,23,& 21
@captain tackberry I believe there is DC1 and there is DC10 but he rarely responds. DC1 is the main district chief though
South Metro inherited some LUCAS devices from Littleton, but they are not being used. From what I have heard (not from an official source), there are studies that suggest mechanical CPR devices (all devices like LUCAS) are less effective than doing manual CPR by hand. If that is really the case, then using a mechanical CPR device would be providing a lower level of service and therefore South Metro has opted to continue using pit crew CPR with manual compressions.
Could you provide more information on the “Delta” and “Charlie” firefighters, etc. and what those terms represent
Alpha, bravo, Charlie, and delta represent where the people sit on the truck I think
It's not consistent across all fire departements, but "Alpha" is usually the fire fighter in charge (company officer for an engine/ladder, paramedic for a medic unit) - there are a lot of traditional names for B, C and D like "line" and "backup" or "can" and "irons" etc. but the modern thing is just "engineer/driver" and "firefighter 1/2"
For South Metro, Alpha is the officer seated in the front right seat, Bravo is the engineer seated in the driver front left seat, Charlie is the firefighter behind the officer in the rear right seat, and Delta is the firefighter behind the engineer in the rear left seat. The visual representation is below.
