i liked the station and the music for the little pt run was nice that song could be good for listening to while running, congrats 47 on the rig and thank you to all of South metro fire rescue for your service.
Nice station the size looks like a lot like a small handful of fire stations that are around the city of Henderson, NV if you are adding other fire departments from around the us to the patch wall you can check off 5 departments in one shot out here in Las Vegas
It's so funny... you guys run rescue in a different country, hell even a different _continent_ - but the old "country stations are low freq, high impact" thing is just a universal truth, innit? :D
Crazy to think that there are paid stations with less then 500 calls a year. We have more than 300 and are fully volunteer and we don't count medical calls into those statistics. I guess having people in the area all the time would be the biggest problem if station 47 would be volunteer
Most household fire extinguishers are ABC dry chem models that can't be recharged by a professional company. For those, purchase a new one for your home and throw away the old one. First, take the old one outside and spray the contents into a trash bag. It can be very dusty and make you cough, so hold the bag tightly around the extinguisher hose. Once the extinguisher is empty, you can place it in your regular garbage to be collected.
@@Cyedae that’s true of any rural station the choice for only 3 firefighters on the only rig for this station is very interesting. Usually a city with the money like SMFR has would employ more that what is necessary at rural stations, interesting reasons for only a crew of 3.
South Metro is currently working toward minimum staffing of 4 on all Engines. Today, all aerials and select Engines have dedicated 4 person staffing. The Operations Division looks at a number of factors to determine the staffing level, including call volume, population and target hazards.
Engine 47 will have a 4th crew member added in the near future, but no additional apparatus will be placed there. Engine and Tender 41 are usually 2nd due with 4,000 gallons of water, Tender 46, Rattlesnake Tender 251 and Elizabeth Tender 273 are close behind with 3,000 gallons each.
@South Metro Fire Rescue Centennial, Colorado what is the current timeline for the 3 new stations and what are the current station numbers/units earmarked for them?
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO what is the Timeline for the new Stations 15&16 and where will the units station there be relocated to during the rebuilds? And thank you for answering my questions here and on the live chat.
Out of respect for the neighbors, station tones aren't loud enough to be heard on the trail. The crew needs to designate someone to bring their iPhone and a radio. During this video the camera operator had the radio.
Love station Saturday. The running track seems maintenance to clear trip hazards eg the small brush over the track. While the track has been there for along time, I see a hazard when running on the wall. The especially with the trip hazards. Then the fall potential with that and a possible miss step. I expecting a different kind of track. Great for fitness tho.
If a call happens when the crew is outside they'll hear it on a portable radio and get a text message on their iPhone. It's similar to when firefighters are doing yard work or training outside. They also have the option of placing their Engine on a 1, 3 or 5 minute delay in the dispatch CAD system. Dispatchers will see the delay and may add a different unit to the call if it will have a faster response time.
A Level 1 RIT is an engine company assigned from the initial alarm on an emergency event to achieve the RIT capability. The trigger is an incident dispatch potentially requiring the use of SCBA, to include structure fires, confined space incidents, or hazardous materials incidents.
At South Metro, "Level 1" means the unit (Engine, Aerial, Medic etc.) is parked near the emergency scene, usually 1 block away, and they haven't passed their last tactical option. That means they're at an intersection or place that's easy to turn around and approach from a different direction.
SMFR has 3 new stations in our future plans including Sterling Ranch in Douglas County, Lone Tree near Ridge Gate Parkway and I-25 and in Parker near Hess Road and Chambers Road.
Why did the dept due away with the larger water tender/engine with a bigger water supply if your in a rural area to a newer smaller engine? Keep up the good work
Operations, Fleet and the Station Captains determined the smaller 1,000 gallon apparatus were sufficient replacements for Engine 40 and Engine 47 since nearby Engines and Tenders carry 1,000 or 3,000 gallons respectively. It will also allow these Engines to become more useful reserve apparatus in 10-15 years since they'll be small enough to fit in most or all of SMFR's stations.
Less than 500 calls a year and 48 hour shifts? I'd go out of my mind.
I can never get over how nice the stations are in South Metro. Very polished, professional department.
Seeing the mascot bear around in different shots what’s hilarious I wouldn’t have been able to keep a straight face 😭. Love the energy
I love carrying the fun little background additions from Station 39! Makes me feel warm and fuzzy
That bear haha! I thought it was a stuff bear until got to the gym haha!
Awesome station and tour. I can see having a good run and workout, getting a call, running back to the rig and heading out. Keep safe and Thank you.

Nice touch with the running of the obstacle course . Great Job guys.
I love how their mascot is literally Icebear from WBB
Same!
Wowser, you guys are truly in the sticks, location wise but beautiful country surrounds y'all.

Thanks 47 and South Metro Fire. Great set up. Good luck with the new rig that is sweet.

Great job on the video. Very well done and it's great you have your own obstacle course right there
A 3 person Station crew - wow.
Hearing Parker Rd makes me think of Smoky Hill High School, Breckenridge, Albertson's and unincorporated Arapahoe County...... great memories
Keep up the gym work Mr.Bear
That track is awesome wish my fire department had something like this
Love the new engine
Loved,the windmill
More Station Saturday antics
Nice, liked and shared 🧑🏻👍🏻
Engine looks great. I’m sure the fingers are crossed a tone doesn’t ring when you’re on the workout course.

We need a Fleet Friday on Engine 47 because its a big eingine

can we get a tour of engine 47? It would be cool how it differs from the old E47
I think the new engine is the same as the new engine 23
@@e.g.o.m.e They are similar but E23 has a 750gal tank and E40/E47 have 1000gal tanks.
We're planning to feature the new E40 or E47, they're both twins.
Reading a book, doing exercice Wow ajaja
Can we get a day in the life of a fire investigator
Yes, we are in the planning process for that video.
I have a question what do if I have expire extinguisher?
you buy a new extinguisher from a store that sells them hope I could help

Why is station 47 a 3 man engine crew vs the classic 4 man crew in other districts in South Metro?
Less volume of calls compared to the other stations.
