  • On this Fleet Friday the crew from Firehouse 34 in Lone Tree provides an in-depth tour of Tender 34. The tour gets interrupted by calls twice and at the end, Tender 34 responds to a fire!
    Tender 34 is a 2018 Kentworth T800 with a Pierce body. It features a 3,000 gallon water tank and a 1,000 gpm pump.

    Absolutely love and impressed by the flexibility and team work. Capt. Pickford giving an excellent presentation... opps. Has to respond with tower to a fire... NO PROBLEM. Jame Vasquez (Paramedic Firefighter) steps right in, picks up and completes the presentation PLUS takes us to the brush fire. Great to see the equipment in use. Thanks again to all. BRAVO ZULU!

      Good luck. It's super hard to get into the good fire districts. Hiring season you'll be competing against several thousand candidates for 1-2 slots per district on average. There is a reason the pay is comparatively low for fire/ems. The supply of people willing to do the job who can pass CPAT far outweighs the demand.
      Don't let that be a deterrent though. Be willing to move to a new community or another state or work private fire/ems.

    That was really cool to see how the Tender actually operates and how versatile it can be too refilling and fighting fire at the same time. It is good that there are so many pieces of equipment available to deal with a variety of different types of fires. These videos are probably of real value to those seeking out information about what it is like to be a fire fighter.

    that happens all the time when we fill our tankers to. Its hard to tell usually what we do is watch the indicator light once the top light starts to blink we starting slowly closing the hydrant but most of the time the water over flows most fire engines and tankers have over flow valves on them. Most of our town does not have hydrants we have only 21 pressurized hyrants in town.Our tankers tend to go mutal aid often to other towns we have a large mutal aid agreement

      Do they have to pay for receiving mutual aid

    • @hihfty
      @hihfty 4 роки тому

      Theres usually a tank fill valve that you can open and close on the pump panel that would make shutting down the 5 inch intake faster then spinning the hydrant closed. Although im not sure if the back inlet on this tender is just a straight waterway and is always open much like the back of ladder trucks.

    • @EricWhiteTheGamer

When I moved from the 2k souls town I learned to be a firefighter in to a quarter-million city, I constantly was like: "One tender? How do you run shuttle?" or "Three rescues? When are you ever going to need more than one simultaneously?" :D

      South Metro has 6 tenders that all carry 3000 gallons of water. Tender 40, 45, and 46 are similar in design and specification to Tender 34. Tender 39 and 41 are older tenders that might have some differences in appearance and pump capacity, for example they both carry their portable tanks on the driver side and Tender 39 has a 500 gpm pump.
