Great build, just think u used to heavy steel for this projekt, 1,5 mm steel tube whould have been the right size, and the engine mount, yahhh mate could have been scaled down, but all thrugh, it's a good job ;)
Thanks. Yeah I totally agree with you, I tried to be on the overkill side if things because I'd never done any fabrication before - so didn't really have an idea of strength and stuff. Thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback!
If you haven't any experience at fabrication, i'm kinda more impressed about your work mate, make a new frame, use sqare tube 1,5mm, our 2mm. 25x25 mm. Thats strong enough, and you will end up with a lot lighter frame, just be creative, think about the shapes when you lay your head on the pillow over a week our 2. What i could look like, and how you would put it together, thats the way to do it, but be carefull, you may end up in the garage at 3 PM. when you can't sleep :P
Haha yip, it's literally the second thing I've ever welded together - the first being the trolley the welder sits on. Thanks for the good advice dude, a lighter frame will also save me some $$$
Hey man I live in nz as well just wondering where you got your wheels, axle and axle bearings? Also most of the 6.5hp engines I've seen on trademe have been 160-170 minimum so where did you come about it? Thanks
Thanks man, guess I just got lucky with trademe, the dude selling the engine was moving house and needed it gone. The axle bearings are from aliexpress - just search for pillow block bearings. Wheels and axle I got shipped from Gokartdirect in Tauranga. good luck.
Thanks man. nice they're good fun. It's two wheel drive (both wheels fixed to a live rear axle). With both the rear wheels locked together it's easier to get drifts going and do "burnouts", the downside is the steering absolutely sucks at low speed. With a single drive wheel it'll handle better at low speed but will be more difficult to drift and have less power. Hope that helps :)
That was my thought moving the trike around without the engine. Both wheels are "live" aka turn with the axle but the steering was terrible and I had doubts that maybe the 6.5hp engine wasn't powerful enough to move it or drift it. I know for sure, in cars at least, with an LSD or solid axle, they drift way better than open diff (one wheel drive cars), so I figured the same applies to the trike! Thanks for the answer!
Sorry dude, don't have a parts list as you're best using whatever is cheap/available locally to you. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have though. If you haven't already check out the reddit comments as I think I talk about most of the components
I got mine from Aliexpress, just search "Pillow Block Bearings". In my case they were a 25mm bore, but that's going to depend on what diameter axle you have.
No problem. That's awesome they're so much fun dude! I definitely recommend getting an 'Inverter' type welder as apparently (according to the salesman I talked to) it's much newer technology and is a more versatile machine overall.
It's not a trick or anything, this was literally the second thing I ever welded - the first being the cart my welder is sitting on. So yeah I'd definitely call myself a beginner.
Rob Chesney maybe you did your research, but i put so many holes in the metal i was welding and many welds broke. haha i guess i suck lol. well you learn from making mistakes. or maybe im just a clumsy idiot with a welder.
Aw that sucks man! yeah I'd watched tons of youtube on learning to weld before I even bought my welder. Stick with it though because it's such a useful skill!
awesome man. found you on reddit. great build
Thanks dude
Great work!
great job man.
Thanks
Holy shit this looks like so much fun
Really nice job, thank you for help.
Sick channel Rob!👌
haha thanks bro, I'm diggin yours man! I'm literally watching your shipping container series right now. nice one
We should plan a little colab in the new year man. I have heaps of bikes we can cut up.
Yeah man, I'll have a think on it - I've been itching to do something electric powered
Nice work!
Awesome mate , iv nerarly finished mine 🙂
cheers bro. Nice, yeah they're heaps of fun!

I'm in pogress of making a frame right now, ill post you a pic, when im done.
What is rough estimate of the time and cost the project incurred ??
Time - a couple of weeks after work. money - about $400
What bearings or whatever do you have that your axle spins in? Trying to find out what they’re called.
"pillow block bearings" - I know, weird name haha

Great build by the way!!

Nice build. Building one my self! Did you make it 2wd drive or is only one wheel the drive wheel?

aye bud i'm doing a similar build where did u get the square piping
www.steelcuts.co.nz/index.php?route=common/home However I live in New Zealand, so that may not be the best place for you
Mac Tierney I live in England easiest place is eBay... It's call box section over here.. 50x50x3mm box
great build mate well done! can i ask rough cost?
Thanks man, about $US400
Have you a Part List please
Sorry dude, don't have a parts list as you're best using whatever is cheap/available locally to you. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have though. If you haven't already check out the reddit comments as I think I talk about most of the components
Why are you wearing a respirator while welding. You don't need to it the window is open
Just personal preference. Yeah there just wasn't a lot of air movement so the fumes would get pretty bad in such a small space.
It doesn't actually have a brake, does it?
No, but it does have a brake.
shoe brakes. like you put your feet down to stop
Where did you get the motor for it.
2nd hand from an online auction site
Hola puedo saber que tipo de motor as usado en el vídeo por favor
It's just a basic 6.5hp ohv horizontal shaft 4-stroke engine. similar to the harbourfreight 212cc predator engine.
What was the length of the axle?
880mm. anywhere around that length is fine. But the shorter you go the less stable it's going to be in the drift.

for anyone that's interested. answering a bunch of question
What size were your Axle bearings and where did you get them?
I got mine from Aliexpress, just search "Pillow Block Bearings". In my case they were a 25mm bore, but that's going to depend on what diameter axle you have.
what kind of welder are you using?
This is what I bought:
www.weldtech.net.nz/shop/Mig+Welders/WT160MP.html
It's just a small inverter mig welder
Rob Chesney thanks for the quick response . I am looking to buy one so I can build a trike also
No problem. That's awesome they're so much fun dude! I definitely recommend getting an 'Inverter' type welder as apparently (according to the salesman I talked to) it's much newer technology and is a more versatile machine overall.
keren coba ada di indonesia komonitas nya ok banget 😊😊😊 👌👌👌
where are the brakes
Brakes? what is this word you speak of?? nah it doesn't need them - you slow down by putting it into a slide
Song name?
Updated the description. thank you for reminding me
Colin furze?
That dude is the best
Rob Chesney could definitely see some inspiration 😂
thanks rob and top video
Holy moly! thank you Mr. Furze...you actually just made my day. Not to get all fan boy on you, but you're a huge inspiration!
