The first replacement timing chain that I put in was loose, brand new out of the box! (See part 3 on this channel). Almost as loose as the old chain! So, Cloyes makes a more expensive, and much superior "true roller" chain, which, if you look at both videos, is the way to go!
I put one on my 5.9 magnum and have had rough since. All marks lined up and chain movement minimal but I can hear slap and was “ok” but mow cant go more than 40 mph without p0301. Pulling all out and putting oem in Both are Cloyec but the first double roller was supposed to be adjustable and bottom gear was not. Even came the right directions but the normal gear and had no choice but try it. All seemed fine but not now. Have checked everything I can think of so dumping the double roller
Isn’t a P301 a misfire on cyl 1 ? Why are you assuming the chain is the issue - I installed a chain in one of these today (nit completed, not yet tested), I looked at all those different double roller cloyes things they all looked kind of cheesy to me, I settled on a melling set very similar to oem looked better to me but it installed like a dream, better than other brands I have tried in the past - finished product was a perfectly tight beefy looking chain
It comes with both gears. And supposedly a good name on it. Mine was the dual roller Colyes Brand. Loose as a Goose. More loose that set I took off .compared pictures. I guess it's not a good brand.I have installed a lot of them you have to work to Get them on.
When will people learn just cause it’s a namebrand or a good shop doesn’t mean they’re gonna treat you right or show you how to do something. … I swear to God I’m doing mine and I’m gonna show you how to do it. …. Remove your fan.. and plastic cover I like how they do this little shit they don’t take off everything and show you like let me get technical Remove your AC compressor your throat on the side Move your alternator… move your bracket that hold on everything …. Remove your water pump. .. remove your harmonica bouncer then finally remove your gasket pan… then you proceeded to take your pull off I’ve never done one before but I’m attempting to do one. I got the book all you assholes are doing is digging around making people run all over to get a bunch of different videos. …💯💯 Like a mechanic, all you wanna do is waste peoples time and make them do the hardest way I guess people like us is what makes America great again, huh?

Yes had the same problem. Question is why. Years ago had a neighbor Chevrolet Gear Mark was on wrong spot yes bent pushrods.
I replaced mine on my 318 LA with the same set and it was nice. I oiled my chain before install in a plastic bag.
It seems as if aftermarket companies really struggle to make good timing chains.

you never said why the chain was loose ???
They stretch when they get worn, the gears wear off too - when you’re inside it that far you slap a new chain on I don’t wait for them to get way worn
