- TwitchCon took over the San Diego Convention Center this past weekend, and one exhibit left several people injured and in need of medical attention.
The convention was home to thousands of people and some of the internet's biggest streamers and content creators. While the event might have started with many excited visitors, many left disappointed, upset and some even injured.

This is a good lawsuit. Two severe cases of injuries, no padding at all. I hope both women make a complete recovery.
@@iceman2340 safety negligence will make that waiver useless, they have a good case
@@iceman2340 Waivers and contracts only apply to a legal act.

Another example:
Our haunted house is not responsible for injuries related to scaring.
However, what they cannot say:

not only was it shallow (1 layer of over-sized cubed foam) ... but there was no padding on the concrete floor.
bad planning to the T
I work in a factory and there has been plenty of times that i pointed something out to a coworker that "hey when you do that be aware of this cause it happened to me" and other times when people have said the same to me and it prevented us from an arc flash, hydraulic failure ect. but a "foam pit" aka an assumption that the ground is safe to land on that was not safe.... lawsuit time
@Garbage Guy , agree, however there are some high jump mats you can get which are 2ft 4 inches tall (but are one piece not many little cubes). They went with the completely wrong type of padding.
How the hell did they think that would go? WOW. I can’t believe Lenovo was that stupid.
@Garbage Guy Or a few inches of contiguous memory foam as the base layer would have mitigated this.
Shit is gonna hit the fan especially since they didn't close it after the first injury. Whoever was running that pit is in some serious trouble.

People saying things like "You couldn't tell it wasn't that deep?" Don't seem to understand that the pit was too dangerous to be having this kind of event in in the first place, even if she didn't jump she or anyone else could've been equally as severely injured from getting pushed off and landing awkwardly in any way, you morons really don't understand that "You should think first" is not an excuse for badly implemented safety measures in any case scenario.
Look before you leap 😂
That makes perfect sense but it’s still a legitimate statement. It would be like crossing a rickety swinging bridge that is rotted and falling apart over a gorge. Heck no I’m not doing that, I can clearly tell it’s not safe. Liability still falls on the event staff and organizers but think and evaluate before u act. I don’t trust red lights at intersections. I still look before I go all ways because there can always be user error that affects me as well. It’s called just being smart about how u approach things.
@@johnathanrue7547 Something can look perfectly safe at a glance while failing to adhere to proper safety measures or look incredibly dangerous while successfully implementing proper safety measures that logic of yours does NOT WORK in all REAL WORLD scenarios that's why these measures exist in the first place, also looking both ways before going through an intersection is REGULATION, thats not you being smart that's you doing what you're supposed to, this isn't meant to insult you but you don't know what you are talking about.
ehh, i disagree.
its not one sided. everyone is at fault. whoever set it up did a half assed job and might as well put spikes at the bottom. and the girls didnt just fly onto the platform. they stepped on the concrete over the 2 pieces of foam and then decided to jump off 🤣🤣flawless victory
30ish centimeters of foam on a concrete floor. How stupid do the organizers have to be to think that's a good idea?
turns out they had limited padding below the stage, but the fact there was still gaps was probably not the best call.
The waiver would of been there regardless of how deep it was 🙄.. not everything is a conspiracy
I'd be curious to know if the waiver actually specified the injuries you might from this. If it was a generic foam pit waiver they might have grounds to sue since it obviously wasn't up to code
Lol all of these cons have a waiver to sign because it's a lot of people with multiple different spaces within it that are all made & rented/owned by different entities.
You can't just make stuff up when you understand so little about the world. This is becoming too common nowadays. @@OddOtter707 That’s a more absurd take than the conspiracy theorists, did you see the clip? This is 100% the event organizers fault. I’m just suggesting this was most likely poorly thought out by a few individuals than intentionally overlooked. It’s ridiculous for anyone to suggest they were too lazy/cheap to add enough foam to avoid injury, nobody wants to be sued.
I think it’s more ridiculous though to expect those who got hurt to have known the foam pit depth wasn’t more than suffice. The foam pit’s implied purpose is to protect someone from injury when they fall from the platform, so jumping into it is heavily invited.
It's crazy how sometimes we don't realize we're injured until a few moments later. After she flips herself over you can see the look on her face realizing that she wasn't going to walk this off.

Lenovo was only able to provide just enough foam from the boxes of laptops they were able to sell over the years.
Well thank goodness the pit worker was wearing a mask. He was definitely safe.

even if it’s shallow and there aren’t many foam blocks like this video, the big big problem was the fact that there was nothing but CONCRETE underneath the pit. that is overall just dangerous in any way.

Even if she didn't leap out of excitement after winning, anyone and anyone else could have been in the same situation.
It's like getting blamed for getting hospitalized because you lost and fell in an unorganized foam pit. Everyone would jump off because in that kind of situation, everyone would think it's safe and fun, win or lose. And to think she's not the only one, though the one that has a very serious injury.
Praying for the victims' fast recovery and emotional strength. And I hope the organizers get the best decisions to the victims and for their future events.
Lots of people got hurt and they were just falling in as designed.
I think common sense would of helped too knowing how shallow that pit was before getting up there but having foam makes it more deceiving . I would definitely sue if I was those ladies.

Obviously they should have built walls around the pit and filled it properly. Someone had a cool idea and had no idea how to make it safely. All they had to do was put up a sign that said "do not jump into foam pit" and they would have been saved from the impending lawsuits.
Or just assume not everything is safe to jump in
@@kinggamerz2838 no reason to assume that when the announcer and organizers tell you to dive into the pit.

Didn't even realize Twitchcon was held in San Diego. Just Comic-Con. But yeah this injury should have been preventable. Sucks.
The Death Pit, concrete floor and just a couple foams
Well two things, yes 100% twitch and Lenovo are liable, but also how does someone not notice that the pit is 2 feet max you walked by the pit, you saw that the top of the foam barely reached you ankles when you walked by and you still jumped, people have to be more careful and less trusting of things, like the metal slide that was in Chicago or something , shit is dangerous
Plot twist it wasn't a foam pit it was a Lego brick pit

she had shoes on so she probably couldn't tell it's hard ground under it. easy mistake to make

she might be able to argue that the pit was a gross misconduct aka she could argue that the planners for this area in general was grossly lacking safety practices which would make a foam pit, safe.. heck if they word it the right way they can find a way to completely put the blame on the ones who set up the pit in the first place, arguing that safety of the guests was completely ignored in favor of putting a few cubes over a hard ground.
basically showing that NOTHING was done to make the foam pit safe, and it was a hazard for ANYONE in the pit. I don't think the waiver will matter when you stop to think about how dangerous this is.
If someone fell head first into it, they could have cracked their skull open and this woulda ended way different. You can bet the law would allow a lawsuit given those events.
@@TheUltimateRare Didn't Wendy's have a pit of their own as well? From what images I saw, it was a bit higher up (it LOOKED like a couple of feet off the floor just to gt on the platform outside the pit, which was on top of that definitely taller than the injury pit)

@@OddOtter707 Waivers don't just magically "wave away" the responsibility of the organizers to make sure their equipment is safe.
