    I totally agree with you: the Unna is my absolute favourite too! I have slept over 150 nights in it and still think it is the very best tent (for me).
    Thanks for your beautiful video.

    Hi there, I've just got myself the Unna and absolutely love it.
    I'm the wrong side of 65 now and have some mobility issues; hence I've been looking for a tent with a large area of internal space and ample head room.
    Compared to the Soulo and Akto the Unna seems like a palace. Only used it a couple of times so far but I'm thrilled with it. The One Tigress bathtub ground sheet fits under it perfectly so I'm planning on possibly using it as a single skin shelter in the warmer months. That should reduce the weight to around three and a half pounds I reckon.
    Hilleberg don't do themselves any favours by saying it's got no vestibule. That put me off originally. It was only after watching the review by Tom Heaney I changed my mind.
    Pleased I did. Its It's a great tent. Very underrated and misunderstood in my opinion.
    Thanks for a great video.
    Best wishes and take care.

      thanks for tuning in. yeah you are right. It does have a vestibule and the ability to create more space is a good option. greta piece of kit.

      Hi thanks for posting. I’m looking at the Unna at the moment. Do you see any short comings for the Unna? A friend of mine is suggesting the Hillberg 1.7kg is the way to go due to lighter weight? Could I get ur thoughts on if weight /size of Unna is an issue for you at all?

    • @frederickridall628
      @frederickridall628 8 місяців тому +1

      @@tanjuhassan3836 Hi, when you say the Hilleberg 1.7 is that the Niak you are referring to? The Niak is a very similar design to the Unna but from the yellow label series; designed for three season snow free use in relatively sheltered locations.
      If I didn't have some mobility issues I would probably have stuck with the Soulo. I love the Unna because of the extra space it offers. I've upgraded to 10 mm poles and added a couple of extra guy lines. This makes it an exceptionally strong four season shelter and you can even double pole it using the original 9 mm poles if you want even more protection.
      Hilleberg do offer a dedicated mesh inner for summertime use. However it is both very expensive and currently very difficult to obtain. Trekkertent, a UK based cottage manufacturer, make a tent called the Saor. Apparently the mesh inner for the Saor will fit the Unna after a few minor shock cord adjustments to the internal connecting loops. This reduces the overall weight significantly and makes the Unna a very practical summertime shelter.
      Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me anything else.
      Best wishes.

      @@frederickridall628 My mistake I meant the Hillberg Enan as the way to go. He’s a guide with nearly 30 years experience. Has taken the Enan into snow as well. Mentions that due to shorter fly condensation is less of an issue and any short fall in being slightly cooler can be made up in sleeping bag quality, mat & thermals quality. Many thanks for ur reply, cheers from Tasmania/ Australia

    0nly just watched this Geordie.......i bought an Unna a couple of months ago and i have only had it out on 6 nights so far but it has been 100% condensation free on each occasion which is something that i have only ever experienced with the Lightwave Sigma S15 before. I have owned 4 different Hillys before this and the only negative is that it doesnt pitch as quickly as the others , especially the Nammatj and the Nallo that go up super quickly but i have got quicker with each pitch. I use the middle guy line on the bottom middle metal ring too so that it lifts the sides up and allows more airflow but i was wondering if i have just been lucky not having any condensation so far or is that a thing. The space between the Fly and inner is much roomier than all the other hills so is it that ? Either way i am really enjoying it and i can see me using this a lot unless its high summer and mild weather.

    I've been put off the Unna by the lack of a porch. I like to be able to cook in the porch in bad weather. I know you can drop the corner of the vestibule but that seems a bit of a faff. Still, it's a nice looking tent. Thanks for showing it off for us!

    • @petergilbert72
      @petergilbert72 Рік тому +7

      I have Unna and cook in the porch. No need to unhook anything, just pull the edge of the inner towards you six inches to create an 18” gap between inner and outer. There’s good height over it. I put a boot to right and left of the centre point to keep the inner in place while I cook, with a water bottle in each boot to weigh them down.

    • @casualsteps

    Hello mate, new sub here. I've been properly researching tents for the first time and the Unna has stood out for its speedy setup and spacious inner while being able to cope with high winds. If you know of any others that can compete in all those areas then please let me know! The Soulo tent from this brand looks superb but I'm looking to shave every minute I can off the pitching time for frequent/daily usage. I like your style and looking forward to catching some nice views on your channel.

    • @thegeordiewildcamper
      @thegeordiewildcamper  Рік тому +1

      Hey! thans for subbing. In terms of the Unna I would suggest upgrading to 10mm poles for those really high winds. Its not going to be as strong as the soulo nor is it meant to be. For me it has a certain va va voom compared to other tents ive used. Ive owned this and the soulo and both are very quick to setup. I think you may be better opting for the one that best suits your weather scenario? summer in the soulo is torture!

    • @andrewvickers4487
      @andrewvickers4487 Рік тому

      @@thegeordiewildcamper Thanks appreciate that, yep got the 10mm pole upgrade on the list together with the pricey mesh inner for hotter weather. From what I can gather the 10mm poles (or even double poled) should be good for 50 mph winds. FYI since my post I've been looking more closely at the Nammatj 2 - equally quick setup, more space and strength, and the added expense and weight is a good trade off for my purposes.

      @@andrewvickers4487 I’ve got Unna and 10mm but have just bought a second hand Soulo 😂. Unna is a treat to be in (watch the stars without getting out of bed; you can sleep from either end; getting in and out is a dream with bottom zipper closed creates a taut step-inside space) BUT putting it up in wind is problematic. Ok once it’s secure (though upwind fabric can get pushed against the inner) but at the point when the first pole goes into its cup and the pole arches into the sky the tent is vulnerable and no real way to avoid that unfortunately. So I’ll see how I like Soulo…
