Eh the more I look at the game the more obvious became to me that it was a planned scam from the get go -they designed a good mascot to put in the cover to lure unsuspecting victims into buying the game -did about 50 power up but half of them are the same with different customs and none of them are useful which means they were always meant to be a number to be put on the cover not something to enjoy -the only good models were used in the cutscenes because that's what people see when they watch the trailer -did a platformer game in only 2 years which we all know is impossible for a game that cost 60 dollars since all platformers need at least 5 years to be decent (two years for art direction and level design then three years to code and make the models) - the finished product is a game full of bugs with bad level design The only conclusion I get from this is that the game was always meant to be easy money without actually working hard on it

yeah, same. theres even a way to skip almost all of act 2 in chapter 6. you just use the sheep costume to glide over the small gap between the beginning checkpoint and the area where you get the air cat costume. it is literally that easy. you dont even need co-op to do it.

Remember everyone, this is why testing your game is one of the MOST important things to do when developing a video game. This allows you to spot bugs, glitches, or even worse, glitches that can break the game!
Most of it isn't even glitches. They're straight up oversights in the level design. They were so caught up in trying to add as many costumes as possible that they didn't fully consider how certain costumes can just break a level. There's a reason Mario Odyssey doesn't let you actually keep your transformations between levels.
Exploits galore, and many times you don’t even need op costumes or coop combos, you can cheese a lot of things using the level’s decoration and weak ass costumes
I feel like this Balan Character is like Cappy's father who just left, but life's never been the same for him so he just ruins the lives of children now by making them fight monsters and wear multiple costumes.

And the birdwatcher had to watch an endangered species of bird go extinct because of society. Also, the car crash that _almost_ killed the girl's cat *_definitely_* killed the white haired girl's parents.

I realised that this game is Skylanders but without the toys, move sets, appeal, consistency, decent co-op, etc Public apology: I’m sorry for doing Skylanders dirty like that. The main comparison is large platforming worlds and a variety of characters/suits/abilities- even if the abilities in Balan are utter rubbish
Some people actually defended the game before release saying people only think it's bad because it's actually meant to be a Co-Op game and your supposed to play with another so you can combine abilities. The obvious issues being that doing so halves the already little interaction each player has. Not to mention, not all levels have power-ups that flow together. So it's not like it actually makes you feel like you have a full moveset.
And the fact that the second player doesn't even get nor retains costumes for each level so they start out with nothing and are a handicap. There are games that use coop in a way that requires team work or is uh aed to create chaos, however balan isn't suppose to be "chaotic" with its coop and the second player cant really do anything without either messing up the first player. This is just a lazy mess.
From what I've heard/can remember, Lance created Balan to "help" guide people who end up in Wonderworld because of . Later Lance decides it's better for people to stay there in their fantasies instead of letting them go and deal with their issues; subsequently Balan rebels and looks for ways to undermine him. Cue Emma and Leo. Apparently Balan wasn't strong enough on his own to try to take Lance down completely and needed Protagonist-kun's help to convince the Wonderworld residents to wake up and stand against Lance's imprisonment. Or something.
This video is making me realize that being able to use two costumes at once would already be a massive improvement as the whole looking for different synergies thing could actually be kinda fun. Edit: I guess that would require 2 buttons though, so it’s impossible...

I seen this on your friends channel and this was hilarious, the fact that you two combined the costumes abilities to break the game should have been the main selling point of this game
I'm not sure if the developers knew about each of the broken co-op abilities but I can imagine that they don't even have anything against it. As far as I know, they developed the game with a focus on exploration regarding the worlds as well as the costumes' powers with the intention of getting rewarded for it. And moving around can be pretty fun with the right costumes. Some broken team combinations I've found so far for everyone interested: - Two Double Jumpers obviously give you four jumps. - Bubble Blower can reblow their bubble infinitely and travel like three times its usual speed (the latter only when used by the second player) - With Frost Fairy (and maybe some other costumes too) used by the first player Soaring Sheep and Floaty Flower as the second player let you glide nearly infinitely while moving around. And my favourite so far: - When you equip Frost Fairy as the first player and Speedy Cheetah as the second (other way around doesn't work for some reason) wait until the speed time of the Cheetah activates and jump forwards with the Fairy: You get extreme height and distance in nearly no time and feel like a rocket (Not like the actual rocket costume. That one is kinda lame ... or maybe just needs the right partner costume.) All in all, there may not be many people who enjoy Balan Wonderworld but I can tell you that the speedruns and especially co-op speedruns for this game are full of potential and can get really exciting in the future.

The saddest part about Balans Wonderland is it feels like the creators are some what "good" in game making. A lot of the bosses designs along with Balan and Lance both have not too bad of designs and they don't look half bad. I hate the power up looks but I feel with tweaking those can look better. Its just, I wish they had hit that mark gameplay/animation wise.
Isn't it funny and depressing that in super Mario odyssey you have all the movement that is enhanced by cappy but in this game you need the power ups and Co-op to get some fun movement?
Balan's like a DMPC in a D&D campaign who has all this ridiculous power and could solve every problem, he just doesn't feel like it, instead sending the players off to go and handle the menial stuff and then he swoops in at the last second to have cool extradimensional fights with the actual bad guy and steal all the glory. Is Balan maybe a self-insert for Yuji Naka? He's responsible for this world and is having a lot more fun with it than the people in it.
The novel explains that he doesn't have enough power to beat Lance on his own and needs the player to convince the other NPCs to rebel against him. Well, literally nothing here makes sense without the novel.

A lot of the bosses designs along with Balan and Lance both have not too bad of designs and they don't look half bad. I hate the power up looks but I feel with tweaking those can look better. Its just, I wish they had hit that mark gameplay/animation wise.

Isn't it funny and depressing that in super Mario odyssey you have all the movement that is enhanced by cappy but in this game you need the power ups and Co-op to get some fun movement?

Balan's like a DMPC in a D&D campaign who has all this ridiculous power and could solve every problem, he just doesn't feel like it, instead sending the players off to go and handle the menial stuff and then he swoops in at the last second to have cool extradimensional fights with the actual bad guy and steal all the glory.
Is Balan maybe a self-insert for Yuji Naka? He's responsible for this world and is having a lot more fun with it than the people in it.
The novel explains that he doesn't have enough power to beat Lance on his own and needs the player to convince the other NPCs to rebel against him.
Well, literally nothing here makes sense without the novel.
