*Have you ever had a SUPER long duel like this one was? I want to hear all about it!* 👂🏾 FULL SERIES - ua-cam.com/play/PLR9jhO9W17H7po0TLCKbztZ5ozo952juO.html
Idk if I ever said this in here but I do in fact have a long duel to talk about I was playing a level 2 beast deck and my friend was playing an aromage deck and so there we were going back and forth as one does...with my opponent gaining LP at an alarming rate and suddenly it happens.....my friend flips a fiber jar....and we all know how that plays out but what should I draw off this fiber jar? oh how about my own fiber jar! thats right we were both playing a copy of fiber jar...and after countless resolutions and many aromage LP gains later we found that we had been in the same duel for 8 HOURS! we had dueled through the night.
Whenever my brother and I play, we both have an old school structure Deck with all the banned cards, then more old school cards we add into those to modify them, so those duels can go for an easy half hour, sometimes longer
I was a part of a singleton version tournament at the end of last year, and I was playing a kuriboh deck against a hero deck. Let's just say my opponent didn't like going into time
The second game could have gone very differently if they had done -50 life points instead of -500. I think the only fair thing is to nullify that game and make them do another episode. Simply for fairness, and not because I want this series to last longer. *cough cough*
My rule is, if I play a duel and we do mistakes, but no one notices them until the end, we live with them. Its kinda hard to recreate the gamestate anyway. Not that I would mind them doing more duels though
@@TeamAPS You could always build a cube of this set, and just reset decks once you run out of "packs" in the cube. This would also allow you to tweak what cards are in the cube, like adding the cards to make Flame Swordsman so it can actually show up. I mean... just rolling back the la jinn would only ever put Alec in a worse position so the out come would have been the same. And the 1800 to paul's face didn't end up mattering.
@@thrusteavis Ah, missed that one (becase the editor comment was non-specific and i was still thinking about the game state if la jinn wasn't summoned would be). Yeah, that would leave him with 400 and be able to remove the big boi. That could change things.
So keeping up with the Exodia pieces Alec and Paul both have the arms while Alec has the left leg and Paul has the right leg. It's looking very close, both need the opposite leg and the main card itself Exodia. It would be interesting to see Exodia make an appearance but who knows if it'll actually happen, I'd sure like to see whoever gets it first and I'm predicting it's gonna be Alec.

I think if blast sphere doesn't say "original attack" it should be the current atk. Especially with relinquished because it adopts the atk of the monster it takes.
The person who has 4 out of 5 wins has to go for an exodia win for the last battle. That would be the most epic episode ever. If they can get an exodia win within one of the last 2/3 duels they automatically win the whole series and dont have to go in to another game.
@TheAdrianPardo did you not watch this video? Paul has one more duel to go to win. And i would have 1000000 million amounts of respect it it was with exodia.
@@TheAdrianPardo they have an exodia head in their collection. Who cares if they haven't pullled one. Just go get it out of their collection and use it.
I'd like to believe Paul did notice the 2nd normal summon and made the neuron calculation error in response hahaha We all love this so much it would be criminal for it not to go 9, so get it together Joey, err, I mean Alec!
My recommendation for a new series? Try using these same retro cards you've pulled to make sealed packs which you then draft and use as your new sealed pool. (This is basically just to save you money for having to buy new ones, lol.) Build a deck, but keep in mind you will then play according to the old Duelist Kingdom or Battle City anime rules! I've always wanted to see someone actually try and play according to them. Although, for a few of the rules, I don't know if you even have cards that are relevant to them in the Retro Pack... For both/either ruleset: Similar to only one Normal Summon per turn, a player can only activate one Spell and one Trap card per turn, and can Set only one of each on their turn. You can activate Spells from hand during your battle phase. All Set Spells are Quick-Plays. A player can Normal Summon in face-up Defense mode. (I always thought that doing that in the anime was dumb, but maybe it actually can matter in some of your games, like as Fissure protection or summoning a defensive Copycat.) Graveyards are hidden information; you can keep them face-down. (For example, no Monster Reborn of your opponent's monster card unless you can correctly name a card that's actually already in there. If you're incorrect, then the card just fizzles.) No attack replays from a monster leaving the field, only from Monster Summons. (If an attacked monster leaves the field after the attack against it has been declared, the attack just fizzles. "Sacrifice Escape!") For Duelist Kingdom only: No tributes are needed to Normal Summon higher star monsters, and the players' have less starting life points, at only 2K. However, there is NO attacking your opponent directly! A player also gets only one attack per turn. Also, a player loses at the end of their turn if they have no monsters on the field at the start of their turn and don't Summon any that turn. (I think this is to punish having an empty field, since the opponent can't attack directly to try and end the game.) Any Set Traps with conditions MUST be activated immediately once their condition is met; there is no choice on their controller's part. (So a player can bait out a suspected opponent's Trap Hole or Solemn Judgement if they're willing to waste one of their limited card plays per turn. Sequencing matters!) When a monster is destroyed by a card effect that doesn't deal damage, the controller of that Monster also receives effect damage equal to half of that destroyed monster's ATK. A Field Spell is a 30% increase in the affected monster's ATK/DEF stats. Also, a monster with a Field power bonus ignores their opponent's Equip card's stat bonuses during battle. Toon Monsters' effects do NOT allow them to attack directly. Instead, they cannot be attacked by non-Toon monsters. Ritual Monster cards are in the Extra Deck, not Main Deck. [I think there's also supposed to be some similar kind of weird rock-paper-scissors to battling monster's Attributes and Types, that's similar to one of the video games, but the anime never goes into what all of them specifically are, so I'm just going to say to ignore that. ;) ] For Battle City only: (Ignore the DK-only rules above, obviously. So direct attacks and Tribute Summons are back!) Players have a hand size limit of 6 cards. Players have 4K life points. Cards without any conditions that deal direct life point damage or destroy monsters are banned. (So something like Hinotama or Raigeki is banned, but Nightmare Wheel or Fissure is not.) Fusion Monsters, Ritual Monsters, and monsters Special Summoned from the Graveyard cannot attack the turn that they are Fusion/Ritual/Special Summoned. Fusion monsters that are Tributed count as the sum of their Fusion Materials. (For example, Twin Headed Thunder Dragon counts as two Tributed monsters, not just one.) Effects that Special Summon monsters of a certain Type are symmetrical. ("The Flute of Summoning Dragon" and "Dark Magic Curtain" also allow the opponent to summon a Dragon, or Spellcaster, respectively. ) Probably forgetting something, but this comment is already long enough!
I think a fun thing to do for this series for possibly the last game would be allow flame swordsman to just be in your main decks since you can't actually fuse it in this set alone. And also Joey had it in the anime in his main deck and just giving Alec access to it seems unfair 😂 great series y'all!! Sad to see it close to finishing up but it's been a wild ride and very joyful experience atleast! Hope you guys had as much fun filming as I did watching ❤😂

Still loving this series & really want it to continue past the 1 somehow, that said I have to say this was not a great episode for the nearing series climax. A LOT of major "cheating" going on. We're all human & mistakes are made but that last duel was a tough one to watch. I'm still super excited for the next one though.
I feel Blast Sphere would just destroy the equipped monster attached to Relinquished on field, thus not dealing dmg. Since BS’s inception was at the time assumes it was going to destroy monsters that don’t have Relinquished like effects. I joked about it, but maybe (Quarter Century) Bonanza Battles? 🤔 If anything, it’s good alliteration. Also, great set guys! Going all the way to Game 7 is hype AF. You’re both winner 🏆
Im loving that black pendent is being used. It was one of m favorite cards as a kid and i took crap for running it. My logic is i just need a boost to beat over one of your stronger monsters and when it goes to the grave it allso burns and has won me duels. It allways catches players off guard and just like what happend to Alec it can put you in a real bind if you forget about it.
I actually found some of these at a target down by a medical office I was at, the first "good" yugioh product at any local stores in my area that I have found in years. I picked up a couple and got some solid foils. Raigeki, solemn, reborn, and sangan. I probably won't get more but I had fun ripping packs for the first time in nearly 12 years. By good, I mean it wasn't years old structure decks and mystery blisters. Most places near me don't actually carry much product in the first place.

5:47 I did what you asked me, Mr. Paul. Here's the list of both Mr. Paul and Mr. Alex pulled Exodia Pieces and what episodes of Retro Rivals they pulled from the beginning to now. *Mr. Paul's Exodia Cards* - Right Arm of the Forbidden One x2 (Ep. 3 on the first one and Ep. 6 on the second one) Left Arm of the Forbidden One x1 (Ep. 5) and Right Leg of the Forbidden One x1 (Ep.7) *Mr. Alex's Exodia Cards* - Left Arm of the Forbidden One x1 (Ep. 5) Right Arm of the Forbidden One x2 (Ep. 5 on the first one and Ep. 6 on the second one) Left Leg of the Forbidden One x1 (Ep. 7) In Conclusion, both Mr. Paul and Mr. Alex have 3 pieces of Exodia.
Maybe a fun suggestion but how about a new Retro Rare Hunters season in the future? Combining what you did with the Rare Hunters series only now with the 25th anniversary OG booster boxes combined with some retro packs inbetween? Seeing as both individual series of yours are an absolute blast to watch maybe combining the 2 might make for something fun aswel. Anyways keep up the awesome stuff.
It's so cool to see as he gets outclassed in brute power Paul's deck becomes more closed off using cards like illusion wall to stall and win in tempo plays
Loving this series and I hope more like it come in the future. I think that alec missed an opportunity in game 1 with copycat, giant germ and penguin solder. he could have used germ to attack and have it die for 500 to paul and 550 to himself then get 2 copies out, then use copycat to take it down then deal 2k with germs and then extra with penguin soldier. nifty little combo if I do say so
Hmm… I wonder what would’ve happened if Paul had subtracted the proper 50 life points when La Jinn attacked Wall of Illusion instead of 500? 🤔 Alec should’ve been at 3950 not 3500. Redo!!!!
Paul cheated! By accident of course, but in game when Alec attacked your wall of illusion you took away 500 of his life points instead of 50. Which means that Alec should have ended with 900 life points after that Relinquished attack, so when black pendant went to the grave yard he had the life points to take it and left with 400.
in game 2, Alec summoned twice in one turn; summoned Senju to get Reliquished to his hand, then after special summoning it, he normal summoned again when he played Lajinn
My experience on Duel Links has taught me that Blast Sphere doesn't negate the attack, it equips to the monster, but the attack continues. So Alec won that match.
Video Suggestion: Play a game of Rush Duel format with traditional cards (it probably won't go as well, but it would be so fun to see you guys play this format in physical form).
I really like these classic duels. It's nice to see Paul and Joey having fun
Paul having Blast Sphere against Relinquished is almost Anime level! Always so hyped up for these duels!

5) and Right Leg of the Forbidden One x1 (Ep.7)
*Mr. Alex's Exodia Cards* - Left Arm of the Forbidden One x1 (Ep. 5) Right Arm of the Forbidden One x2 (Ep. 5 on the first one and Ep. 6 on the second one) Left Leg of the Forbidden One x1 (Ep. 7)
In Conclusion, both Mr. Paul and Mr. Alex have 3 pieces of Exodia.
Paul must be one of the best duelists in the world if he keeps beating Joey like this.
Ah dang, that misinput on the calculator is unfortunate since that would have drastically changed the ending of the game. Oof. Oh well, it happens~
Alec wouldve won game 2 if the life points were input correctly! Black pendent wouldntve done enough damage. I declare the duel scuffed!
He MIGHT have - the game state was already up in the air from the second normal summon, so it's hard to tell which way it would have gone!
@GyroCannon regardless i declare the game scuffed and demand they redo the duel. (I just want more episodes)
@@GyroCannonNot really all that changes is Paul has 1800 more life points
Then loses to Alec going all in with attacks
Can we get a ref to catch the misplays? *Raised hand*🤦
Scuffed but not for the reason you said @@SeanSnow64
Alecs boxing while pauls gone to kick boxing
Really enjoying this series a lot!
Pokémon music + yugioh duel = 🧑🍳 kiss.
Love these retro duels. Takes me back in time of the era I loved Yugioh.
Shoutouts to Pokemon's Gen 3 battle theme. Good choice of music!
It's so cool to see as he gets outclassed in brute power Paul's deck becomes more closed off using cards like illusion wall to stall and win in tempo plays
That's the goal I had in mind!
Hearing this Pokémon music on a Yu-Gi-Oh video is tripping me up
Loving this series and I hope more like it come in the future.
I think that alec missed an opportunity in game 1 with copycat, giant germ and penguin solder.
he could have used germ to attack and have it die for 500 to paul and 550 to himself then get 2 copies out, then use copycat to take it down then deal 2k with germs and then extra with penguin soldier.
nifty little combo if I do say so
You guys should use the DM Life point counter for the rest of the series. To fit the retro theme.
The pokemon music in the background was a wild choice xD
22:03. This was probably mentioned a while ago but. Alec was supposed to take 50 damage from Wall of Illusion but he lost 500 instead.
The GBA Pokémon music punched me in the nostalgia.
LETS KEEP THE SERIES GOING!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!! 🎸
you guys make yugioh more enjoyable every single video
I feel like we can revive Rare Hunters series if they combine the retro packs with old yugioh sets to make it a more interesting experience
0:51 WE ARE GOING TO FIVE GUYS???!?!
Love these series with classic packs. Keep em coming boys.
We need an Exodia duel, without draw card effects 😂
Hmm… I wonder what would’ve happened if Paul had subtracted the proper 50 life points when La Jinn attacked Wall of Illusion instead of 500? 🤔 Alec should’ve been at 3950 not 3500. Redo!!!!
I really enjoy this, but I miss the card wagering with Rare Hunters! Great job
omg, the Scapegoat plushies! xD
It would be amazing if both get Exodia in the final duel and it becomes a race to see who can draw all 5 pieces first.
500 damage, duelist! 500 daaaaaaaaaaamage.
Hoen region background music for duels top tier!
The misinput in game 2 ended up being so gross
Paul cheated! By accident of course, but in game when Alec attacked your wall of illusion you took away 500 of his life points instead of 50. Which means that Alec should have ended with 900 life points after that Relinquished attack, so when black pendant went to the grave yard he had the life points to take it and left with 400.
Has the Pokémon battle music been there the whole time?? This is awesome
Sad to see this series come to an end. I would love more of these.
There's still at least one more episode to go! We'd love to do Retro Pack 2, but... sheeeeeesh it's expensive!
This is a fantastic series. Draft is just too good. Hope you guys run it back with another set or something after someone gets to 5
in game 2, Alec summoned twice in one turn; summoned Senju to get Reliquished to his hand, then after special summoning it, he normal summoned again when he played Lajinn
My experience on Duel Links has taught me that Blast Sphere doesn't negate the attack, it equips to the monster, but the attack continues. So Alec won that match.
Absolutely continue to do this series! Also would be cool with the 25th bonanza boxes since they’ll be be so shiny lol
Love the gen 3 pokemon BGM!
Video Suggestion: Play a game of Rush Duel format with traditional cards (it probably won't go as well, but it would be so fun to see you guys play this format in physical form).
Could this series come again with a collection of boosters from old sets? Basically making your own Retro Rivals pool of cards
First person to get the head of exodia should get all the other pieces and has to use it lol
I 100% need more Joey
