What about a similar style format but instead you lay out multiple random packs in front of you both, and take turns claiming packs to add to your card pools to build from? could use all kinds of older yugioh packs!
Retail rivals? Set a weekly budget and you guys can build custom decks to battle each other, whether that be from specific sets or seasons or the whole card list, even banned cards would be an interesting episode to highlight why certain cards were banned first hand. No matter what love the content; thankyou :)🎉
Could also create a custom game mode like duel links where you guys get an ability to use throughout the duels. I think retail rivals would be great for your current channel interest and algorithm though :)
These types of videos, Rare Hunters, Slifer Slackers, and Retro Rivals, are my absolute favorite on the channel, followed by theme/structure deck duels, and friend tournaments
My favorite part of this series was when you guys pulled a different Exodia piece every episode but never got the head. Thank you for this series. It was awesome.
My favorite moment was Paul playing Toons even though it didn’t work. It was hype when he finally set his board and then Alec broke it everytime before he got to use it 😭
So sad to see this series end. I genuinely looked forward to every episode. I do not care at all for modern yugioh. Never played it, never will. These duels bring me back to my childhood and its why I keep coming back to this channel. I always hit like. Well done my brothers.
i am always annoyed that konami releases new stuff for yu gi oh, and never cared for a "retro" competitive duel mode, we had something like that at duel links, but eventually that went bad too
Best moment: When Twin-headed thunder Dragon first made its appearance in the duel. I feel like you gave us the full "early days" of Yugioh feel. Classic tribute monsters, rituals, and fusion really gave a great nostalgic touch to the series. Thanks for the work and passion you guys put into the series! Looking forward to the next one!
There's too many favorite things about this series and I'm so glad it went 9 games! Rather than a moment, I'd say watching Alec embrace the Joey Wheeler that was inside him all along was such a fun side story in all this. Great work as always guys, so fun and great to rewatch for a quick hit of nostalgia!
My favorite moments were Paul finally getting Cyber Harpy Lady; (wish he had of gotten to play it though), and Alec's huge aggro push in game 1 that exactly gave him game. I also think it was cool that not a single coinflip in this episode went bad for either player.
As someone who has went from being a hardcore competitive duelist to definitely casual and comes up with fun deck building challenges for my friends. My favorite moment is when the series started. I love seeing any kind of deck building challenge with a limited card pool and seeing what fun interactions happen.
I was there when yugioh took off, and I can still remember collecting the cards and dueling while watching the anime. My brothers and I were our only constant opponents since we were not allowed to bring the cards to school anymore. Watching you guys duel each other brings back so many memories and how much I miss dueling. My brothers and I are grown now but I think I’m still that young kids trying to be the best duelist 😅. I can’t say which part is my favorite in the series but I can say that just seeing those old cards again on every pack openings still gives me that same feeling when I was opening packs as a youngster. Thank you guys for this awesome series and hope you guys do something similar in the future.
A fitting finale to one of the most satisfying Yugioh products I've ever played with! We could've had this much fun in 2007?! Here's hoping Konami gives us Retro Pack 2 🤞🏿
so sad to see this series end. i'm only just getting back into yugioh after like 15 years away. these are the most fun non toxic duels i've seen on youtube. i even went out of my way to buy some thunder dragons to make a retro deck of my own after seeing how cool it was in this series. i'm looking foward to whatever you do next.
This is the ONLY yugioh channel for me, your team’s enthusiasm has single handedly gotten me into playing this great game. This series, and the previous series like this that you’ve pulled off, are my absolute favourite thing to watch on UA-cam right now! Please keep content like this coming, it is so fresh and fun with some amazing moments. It was so hype to see you fiiiinally pull the cyber harpie lady! (even if it didn’t end up getting played). Looking forward to what comes next! :)
This series was really enjoyable to watch! My favorite parts were probably the initial openings every episode and seeing you guys build a deck with the cards you were dealt, deckbuilsing always peaks my interest.
My favorite moment in the series is just how you guys got me back into YuGiOh. I came across you guys with episode 1 and have since been watching a pot of YuGiOh content on UA-cam. I order a few starter decks for my friends and I to play, and I'm so pumped to give it a go. Thanks for the nostalgia.
My favorite part of the series is seeing all the cards I used when I was growing up learning the game, I recently started playing yugioh again and started competing in tournaments for the first time about a year ago. I use Hero’s because that’s been my favorite archetype ever since episode one of GX. (Jaden is the goat) Keep up the great work love you guys!
My favorite moment of the series was watch Paul play with toons as an avid toon fan it was nice to see him attempt to win with it. And Alec is always so funny with his one liners 😂
Honestly, this was such a fun series to watch. Definitely seeing all of the fusion and rituals coming together and how much faster and more consistent it was seeing you guys get them out over the course of this series was so awesome. Sonic Bird, Senju, Thunder Dragon all made things much more interesting. I did also enjoy Paul's attempt at the Toons even though it didn't go too well. Here's to hoping Retro Pack 2 goes down in price eventually so we can bring this back down the line!
I rarely think to comment but I just want to say that I absolutely loved this series. Looking at other comments here, I'm clearly not alone in my love for older Yu-Gi-Oh! so this throwback was a blast to watch. Thank you!
I literally wanted to get this product to have as much fun with my little brother, but unfortunately we've been told that it was made only for the US market. What a great series. I especially loved the longer duels, since they remind me of my childhood the most. Bravo!
I have LOVED this series. Thanks for the time (and money) that it took to make it happen! I loved the first moment that Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon hit the table. Seeing it happen, the damn-near biggest, baddest thing of them all was fantastic to see! RIP Flame Swordsman!
My favourite moments in this series was probably all the Solemn Judgement shenanigans. But I'm gonna be honest, as much as I had a blast watching these episodes, at the end I was getting tired of seeing the same cards over and over again, and the absence of some of my favourite monsters like Gorz, Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, Megarock Dragon, Monarchs and Dark Magician of Chaos stung a lot.
My favourite moment was Copycat's introduction! Sadly it saw less gametime later on, but it and Time Wizard carried a bunch before Relinquished became the star of the show.
Couple of ideas: 1.) Make an "imposter" deck. Meaning Paul makes and plays an Alec deck. And Alec makes and plays a Paul deck. Best of 3 wins. 2.) Twist off the first idea: Each member of APS is assigned someone else in Team APS. Who you are assigned is how you theme your deck. (Ex: Alex makes a Paul deck.) Then tournament style to see who has the best deck strategy, or is it all skill? 3.) Build close to true anime theme decks and have them face off. (Ex: If Joey had beaten Yugi in Duelist Kingdom, would Joey's deck stand up to Pegas' deck?) (Ex: If Rex had beaten Joey in Duelist Kingdom, would he have stood up to Mai's deck?)
Holy shit the 3rd idea could've been such a cool 2 player starter deck Like for example A pre-made battle resembling Jaden's battle against Phoenix You learn how to fuse and re-live a cool battle
Definitely the best episode was episode 3 when Paul pulled Thunder dragon like the only card that could save him to turn the duel all over 😂. The true heart in cards to win the duel like in anime.
This series has been amazing. As a Yu-Gi-Oh novice, who hasn't played the game in many years, I love being able to follow along with the duels. More modern cards require me to pause the video to read and re-read cards and really takes me out of the duel. I love being able to just "know" what the cards are, so this series has been so engaging for me. Thank you so much!
A fun series, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. As for a favorite moment, any of Alec’s Ritual shenanigans. Relinquished is one of my favorite retro cards, so seeing my boy get the play he deserves is peak content.
My son and I have enjoyed this series very much! Watching your videos really inspires us to duel! My son loves you guys. Hate to see the series end but our favorite part of the series was watching you guys open the packs! We would like to see you guys duel more with these retro packs. It really does bring you back to the golden age of Yugioh. Can’t wait til the next series!!!
My favorite part about the series might be that you guys took it all the way to game 9! I also enjoyed watching the openings and I liked how impactful Solemn Judgement was in the duels.
Actually, my favorite part of this series has been this duel when you were literally 25 life points apart from each other. Talk about an anime moment in a series finale! Honestly, though like watching you guys play with these cards took me back to when there was so much less toxicity in this game and I just had fun playing with my friends. Never really caring if I won or feeling like I didn’t get to interact or play a game.
Heck yeah!!! As a Joseph Wheeler enthusiast, I was rooting for Alec here and I’m glad he came out on top. Wonderfully done, and I think this series was the first that even inspired me to go and buy some packs.
I would love to see another series like this. I hate to say this Paul: I love you, but I was rooting for Alec to win this entire series. It definitely made me look forward to watching the next match every episode. Please do another series like this!
My favourite part of the series was seeing Alec actually make a functional Relinquished engine out of sealed packs, and quite early on in the series too. All the ritual searchers being decent bodies helps a lot.
Rare hunters and this series without a doubt the best series so far. The mystery mayhem is pretty good too but the Rare hunters is just pure gold. I hope we can see these kind of duels again in the future. Love you guys. Also..I'm still waiting for the head of Exodia
Honestly, my favorite part of this whole series was when Paul finally pulled his 3rd nimble momonga but didn’t use it I was legit cheering Paul on every episode for him to finally get that third one but sucked that it was on the last episode I really appreciate you guys work. I know you guys work really hard to make content for all us young and old viewers and honestly, I wish I was like Elon Musk or somebody in that price range because like your team there’s another few other teams. I would love to contribute for the hard work you guys do to entertain all of us thank you guys even if I don’t win you guys are awesome and never stop what you’re doing
Thanks for everything guys! ❤ My Favorite moment from the Series was seeing Amazoness Chain master "Yoink" the Relinquish out of his hand just as he got it. Its my favorite Amazoness Card and one I used to win a Local once. I loved the show and hoped you all did too!
Thanks guys for such a great series. Sort of bittersweet to see it come to an end, but I really enjoyed tuning in every week, feeling nostalgic for old school YGO. Anyways, really hope you folk come out with a cool sequel series (oh, and my favorite interaction whenever Alec's Time Wizard Gambit pays off, or I guess when either of you pull off an insane comeback.)
I definately loved that Alec included time wizard and actually got it to work effectively however, i think my favorite moment is more of a faovrite thing which is the genuine passion, joy, and the slower paced and well explained gameplay in all your series. Ived watched a ton of your videos now and your channel got me back into yugioh with some of the classic cards and my friend and i have started trying to build decks and learn how to play again with some of the new reprint cards they released.
Without a doubt, my favorite moment was the first time Alec resolved and won the flip for Time Wizards effect. Completely changed the course of that duel, real anime moment!!
This series was awesome! My favorite moment(s) was when Solemn was played, and it was the best negate option and it was entirely a shock. Counter traps are always so much fun in these retro duels.
It's been a great series! My favorite parts are always the solemn judgement thinking you're safe only to be solemn judgemented right back. The counterplay makes for great entertainment!
Honestly my favorite moment was in this very episode when Alex brought back Summoned Skull with Monster Reborn in game 1. The setup he had was really strong and it’s the kind of magical Christmasland playground Yugioh I remember fondly.
hey guys i really need to say its sad that the series ended now, but it was a really hell of a ride and i love every episode of it, for me the best times are when u guys use Solem Judgmends all over the places its so funny to watch. And tbh the best part will be always the opening of these packs, the excitement for the cards it is so awesome. And it feels like childhood for me to see u dueling every time with these old cards :) i really love these cards and Decks, i try to build old decks by myself :D keep up the good work :)
It is so hard to pick my favorite moment, I loved the first time twin headed thunder dragon came out no one knew how powerful the combo was so to see a "meta" be defined was really cool to watch. I also loved the forst time time wizard was used such a weird but terrible card that seemed to workout more than fail and the toon deck while it did not works was incredibly fun to watch!
God another incredible series that comes to an end, y’all make such fun ideas with yugioh and I love the tournament styles you create! The duels themselves were so iconic, kept waiting for every time wizard to either win or lose the duel for Alec in true Joey wheeler fashion
I think the best comedic moment for me was the “Wait a minute..”moment when you realized that Flame Swordsman isn’t even possible to make! Gonna miss this series!
Like most people said some of the best fuels you guys have had. It's hard to pick a favorite moment between both of you. You guys are always fun as hell to watch. Can't wait till the next series comes out already lol
Totally was so stoked to see Cyber Harpie Lady get pulled at the same time as the 3rd Nimble Momonga and for Paul to not use either at all. XD I've loved this series even more than Rare Hunters!
My favorite moment was pulls, specially when red eyes was pulled, that’s my favorite card completely! I love the mistakes in the duels, makes it all human and funny, thank you for the series
What an awesome series, takes me back to playing when I was young, and makes me want to get back into the game. I love seeing how you could make such a consistent deck so quickly out of these packs, and absolutely amazing duels
I LOVE Relinquished, so seeing that resolve for the first time in the series and then go on to become one of Alec's boss monsters was soooo awesome! This was a super fun casual sorta series, always enjoy what y'all put out!
Loved this series! Got me back into Yugioh after a long time. My favorite moments would have to be either when blast sphere came out of nowhere for that anime moment with Paul, or when Paul willed the Cyber Harpy Lady into existence. Don't worry Alec I still love you, the consistent Relinquished plays had me feeling like Pegasus was right there laughing at me 😅
Favorite moment was the last duels, putting it all on the line to see who would come out on top! And seeing the creative deckbuilding and the evolutions of the decks over the episodes
This has been a really fun series to watch, it has taken me back to the early days of yugioh and how I wish I'd have had more money or better luck with cards as I absolutely loved seeing Relinquished being a star here.
I have rekindled my love for yugioh thanks to you guys. Seriously, keep doing what you are doing because you are doing great! My favorite moment from the series has got to be that first fusion summon of twin headed thunder dragon. So much nostalgia. Alec's commitment to time wizard is also right up on that list. It helped more than it hurt lol 😂
My favourite moment was when Paul got his 3rd Nimble Momonga. I felt invested in the search for the 3rd because I love that card. Pretty sweet it showed up with the secret Cyber Harpie Lady too.
Thank you guys for creating an awesome series with old school yugioh cards. I will miss these episodes now that the finale is out. As for my favorite moment: it is when Paul finally pulled cyber harpies lady. I didn’t think it will ever get pull. Sadly it couldn’t be shown in a duel due to being the final episode. It was still a nice way to send off the series along with this episode’s duels. Keep it guys. I look forward to your future series.
My favorite part of the series was watching how your all's decks and strategies progressed. This was so fun to watch. You guys have gotten me back into Yu-Gi-Oh after a 15 year hiatus. Thanks so much!
Such a great series! My favourite Moment of the Series was when Paul pulled and played with Cloning because i also pulled this Card when i was a kid, it just gave me Flashbacks of some Great Moments with it.
This HAD to be my favorite series each week to watch. My favorite moments were the first time twon headed thunder dragon was summoned by Paul cus he's such and underrated card, only for Alec to start the same thing after he realized how powerful it was. And I LOVE my boy Relinquished
I always enjoy seeing Alec really embody a Yugioh protagonist in any duel he's in. I honestly can't help but root for him every single time he's dueling just because he has extreme protagonist energy
I remember playing old school Yugioh at my friend’s house when I was… probably 7. So much of this series encapsulates what I love about the original TCG. It’s unbalanced and broken, but so fun. Seeing Relinquished pulled was especially neat since I remember not understanding how that card worked as a child 😂
Truly my favorite part of the series was when Paul pulled his cyber harpie lady AND in the FINALE duel two: he solemned the solemn and strait up said no way bro! No wayyyyyyy no wayyyyyyy! He took the win in round 2! lol loved that! I love having old and new decks even though I don’t have but a few decks. Having 1 of these decks I would definitely post on my channel and buy a special case for and everything! You guys rock! Can’t wait to see more videos like this series! These are my favorite kind of series❤🎉
I’ve been following for a good while now and this series really ignited my excitement for the channel and Yugioh as a whole. Please don’t end it guys 😢
My favorite moment was just seeing relinquished being used so often I love relinquished it's definitely one of my cards but I loved this series low key got back into playing again! Thank you guys for the fire series can't wait to see what's next
Favourite moment is honestly the very first episode because it was going to be a series, I enjoy these type of videos the most where you build on a deck each episode keep up the amazing work and looking forward to what ever series you guys come up with next
Had a lot of favorite moments. I really loved seing relinquised in action and in the firts episode, seeing the dissapointment when milling a good card from gravekeeper's servent was honestly pretty funny. Loved the whole thing. Keep up the great work !
absolutely loved the series it was a blast , my favorite part was actually from this last episode and it was when Alec summoned time wizard (like a true joey player!!!) and actually had a huge pay off which won him the first duel in this episode ,cuz if Paul kept his "wall of illusion" and "jurai gumo" he would have won 100%. last thing is that i would like to see one more bonus episode with Paul using the harpy lady engine , again this was a great series just like the rare hunter one you guys did a while back , would love see something similar some time in the future
Without a doubt, my favorite moment in this series has been Alec's clutches with time wizard! every time TW got summoned to the field, I'd start sweating loool
This was an awsome final duel to close the series. You both pulled the cards u wanted this episode, each of u had a round where u took the spotlight and cleaned the other, then shared it equally in the final round with the tense build up, felt like an old fashioned anime duel. I had so much fun watching, how can I pick a best bit? well Im going with the Time Wizard play! Iv been running him in my dark magician deck with dark sage in modern duels just for the fun of it. I always think of retro rivals when i play it. Thx for this series guys :D
My favorite part about this was the back-and-forth using all the searcher beatsticks you guys were doing, pumped up by the Field Spells for the respective attributes. That took me back! I knew the moment I saw the card list that the MOMENT consistency cards and Counter Traps hit the fray, these duels could literally be anyone's game by the skin of their teeth. It was nice to see these!
Another version of this could be done with Dark Beginnings 1 & 2. I'm not sure how expensive they are, but I think it would be cool if you each got 2 packs per week from both boxes, and updated the decks as you went. Also just wanted to say this has been so much fun to watch. Thank you for bringing amazing gameplay and all the nostalgia with it.
My favorite moment has to be the time wizards being played and Alec calling the flip correctly, pure joey moment. I also wish we could see an exhibition game showing off the harpy lady strategy. GGs i'll miss this series.
*This series has finally come to a close! We had a lot of fun opening so many Retro Packs and the these duels were peak! We're still brainstorming what to do next (because as fun as Retro Pack 2 would be, it's ridiculously expensive) so for now, look forward to a couple of Yu-Gi-Oh theme duels and finally a new skit! It's not as fun but online simulator packs are an option

big same.

@@FTomazelli I really enjoyed Duel Links at the start when it was essentially a "reset" of the carpool, but now it's caught up to be modern.
I've played modern yugioh. It's just not fun.
I returned to wc11. Watched some video of modern Yu-Gi-Oh , and I'm amazed at all the nonsense going on.
My favorite moment was when Alec fully embraced the Joey Wheeler inside of him and when Paul went all Pegasus with the Toons
Best moment: When Twin-headed thunder Dragon first made its appearance in the duel. I feel like you gave us the full "early days" of Yugioh feel. Classic tribute monsters, rituals, and fusion really gave a great nostalgic touch to the series.

I think a bonus duel with an alternate deck from the final set would be cool. Use that harpy lady build. Excellent series 👏 🎉 congrats Alec!
Favorite moment(s) were definitely whenever Time Wizard made an appearance. Alec couldn't resist his inner Joey Wheeler
My favorite moments were Paul finally getting Cyber Harpy Lady; (wish he had of gotten to play it though), and Alec's huge aggro push in game 1 that exactly gave him game. I also think it was cool that not a single coinflip in this episode went bad for either player.

This series was really enjoyable to watch! My favorite parts were probably the initial openings every episode and seeing you guys build a deck with the cards you were dealt, deckbuilsing always peaks my interest.

A pre-made battle resembling Jaden's battle against Phoenix
You learn how to fuse and re-live a cool battle
You guys keep using the swords wrong. It gains a counter on your NEXT turn after activation, putting it at 1.

Man, I simply loved all the series. Loved you guys taking us back to old school YGO.
I like it when a series has a beginning, middle, and an end ..and not get forgotten about
I would love to see another series like this.
My favorite moment is the series. You guys got my brother, and I back into yugioh. Thanks, Team APS.
THIS is how Yu-Gi-Oh should still be played
Rare hunters and this series without a doubt the best series so far. The mystery mayhem is pretty good too but the Rare hunters is just pure gold.
I hope we can see these kind of duels again in the future. Love you guys.
Also..I'm still waiting for the head of Exodia
you guys always make me nostalgic for old school yugioh, Love whatcha do please keep it up, big fan of the relinquished plays, always fun every time.
My favorite moments in the series is every time Alec pulled off Time Wizard. True embodiment of Joey Wheeler
My favorite moment is when Alec gets into character when summoning Time Wizard. Just love it
I definately loved that Alec included time wizard and actually got it to work effectively however, i think my favorite moment is more of a faovrite thing which is the genuine passion, joy, and the slower paced and well explained gameplay in all your series.
My favourite part of this series was when he discarded Thunder Dragon to pick up two more copies of Thunder Dragon.
My favorite moment was Paul's insane luck in the first duel of Episode 5.
Also all of the cool OSTs used during the duels!
Loved this sealed-deck journey! Very fun way of playing limited for a long period of time. My favorite was the experiment done with the toon deck.
Favourite part of the series was probably all the times Alec used Time Wizard and also seeing twin headed thunder dragon being so pivotal and useful
