The sad story behind a sequel not being made until after Harold Ramis's death goes all the way back to Ground Hog Day, where the feud between Bill and Harold started and sadly was settled right before his death. 21 years of not speaking to each other and impending death is what brought them back together to bury the hatchet.

"Are you all right, son? You just singlehandedly defeated a manifestation of Gozer."
"You gotta be on my podcast."
    "Sure. What's it called?"
"Mystical Tales of the Unknown Universe."
    "MTUU, that's you?"
    "Wait. You're my subscriber?"
"Really found its voice in the 46th episode."
Fun Fact: Director Jason Reitman is the son of Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) late director, Ivan Reitman. He is also the heckler kid at the birthday party at the beginning of Ghostbusters II (1989).
Hook And Ladder 8 Fact: Ray (Dan Aykroyd) tells Phoebe (McKenna Grace) during her jail call that "some actor bought up most of Tribeca" and that the firehouse is now a Starbucks. In fact, it is still a firehouse in the Tribeca (Triangle Below Canal Street) neighborhood of Lower Manhattan in New York City and it has a very large Ghostbusters II (1989) sign hanging inside. The joke about the actor refers to Robert De Niro and his ongoing efforts to help his favorite neighborhood.
RIP Harold Ramis Fact: The Egon seen in quick and obscured glimpses during the opening scene was played by Bob Gunton. For his appearance in the finale, Harold Ramis's likeness was aged and recreated with computer-generated imagery based on clips and photos from the first two movies. The images were then digitally pasted onto Bob Gunton and Ivan Reitman, who played out the scenes. Special permission was obtained from Ramis's children to create the effect. They called the finished scene: "So satisfying. They could have done him as this jolly Santa-type, but that wouldn't have been true to the character. He was in great shape, nice and trim. My dad would have loved that."

I saw this movie 6 times in the theaters I cried when the OG showed up. I cried at the end I also cried when Phoebe was on the phone with Ray. I feel this movie had a great story and great score and that the children of Ivan Reitman also worked on this film and with the tribute to Harold was well done. I believe Ivan died at the conclusion of this film. This is the sequel we needed and I love all the Easter eggs. Some of my favorite scenes are the first scene with the baby stayt puff marshmallow
Men, when the OG’s show up and the scene where phoebe almost
Shoots The sherif with the proton wand. For me This film Is a 10/10. The end scene with Egons ghost they didn’t a lot facial scans from older photos and movies to get it right for the tribute. The actor who stand in did a great job as well.

Don't worry about crying. While there wasn't a lot of people in the theater when this came out, every one of us were crying at the end there.

I also cried when Egon made his ghostly appearance and I felt it was a movie that paid homage to the original and Harold Ramis. Haters are gonna hate but I loved it!

Did anyone mention that Paige and Meemaw from young Sheldon are here, since he mentioned that Phoebe reminded him of Young Sheldon?

Funny how you said that Phoebe reminds you of young Sheldon because she actually is in Young Sheldon. She plays Missy's friend Paige - also a genius.

Always good to see Ernie Hudson. Especially loved him in "The Crow" & "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle".
I highly recommend both to anyone who hasn't seen them.
JL has reacted to "The Crow" already. I'd love to see him do "The Hand...". I think he'd have a lot to say.✨️

8:49 -She's got good nerd material, but her delivery sucks.
    9:58 - SUPERnatural causes...
13:38 - Just follow the bouncing psychokinetic energy readings.
18:58 - THAT is probably the most brilliant call-back in the entire movie. It's Egon's collection of spores, molds, and fungus.
24:09 - It wasn't in the movies...but it was in the cartoon.
31:50 - Or maybe Southern California's _beautiful_ San Fernando Valley.
    37:08 - It's not a 'problem,' it's just a 'thing.' And it's not just a 'you' thing.
    37:39 - Your mom's a bitch.
    38:02 - That WAS J. K. Simmons.
    40:36 - Walmart.
    41:12 - The brother's girlfriend.
    43:18 - She's got help...
45:08 - Just in case there was any doubt that Podcast was the 'Ray' of the new gen.
This movie was a perfect love letter to the franchise.
