I saw this one year to the day my father died. The ending really hit me hard that day. That last shot with his daughter having finally forgiven him, tear streaming down her face as his ghost fades away just really took its toll on me.
My condolences to you about your father. I lost my father to cancer in 1987 when I was a kid. Ghostbusters was our favorite movie to watch together and we both loved the character of Egon. I remember watching it with him several weeks before his passing, it's one of my favorite memories of my dad. Egon was our favorite character because of our love of science. When Egon's ghost appeared I also teared up. So sorry for your loss❤🙏🏻😢

That ending choked me up. The first thing I thought about was Ramis's kids and how they felt the first time they saw that. Then, I thought about what it would be like to see my mom again. Very touching, very personal.
Ramis's daughter was actually really involved in the production of the movie. Both actresses who played Phoebe and the mom used her as a reference for their characters' relationships with Egon.
This isnt a movie, its a love letter to the franchise, the fans, and the memory of Harold Ramis. Fortunately for everyone it's also a GOOD MOVIE! Very funny, very heartwarming, good character writing, and a nicely done update! I was 4 when the first movie came out, didnt have the courage to watch the first two until i was 13, and was really impressed with the visual effects, the comedic timing, the sense of humor, and how the ghosts managed to be sometimes hilarious and downright chill inducing as well. Just a damn good time.
Fun fact about the house set on the farm is it was a real house they built from scratch to simulate fake Earthquakes, Adam Savage did a tour of the set and they explained they chose to make it shift as one practically.
@@christopherdeguzman1137 You could still recommend it, she happens to read the comment, the seed is planted, then by the time Halloween rolls around she thinks it was her own idea. 😂
As a huge Ghostbusters fan, this movie was pitch perfect. It is just so delightful to watch. Fun, funny, scary, heartwarming. Totally different vibe as the originals but undeniably a Ghostbusters movie. Great reaction!
This movie hit every single thing I wanted it to. It had nostalgia and throwbacks, but had a very new feel to it. The casting was incredibly perfect. Phoebe was channeling Ramis the whole time. I love that they kept the original cast out of it for almost the entire thing so it wasn't a reunion tour. Solid jokes and humor. It was just a damn good fun time at a movie. And I'll happily watch more with this cast.

@@josephamoraz7990 No, you're allowed to think it wasn't good. It just didn't do it for you. that's totally okay. Just understand that for a lot of people this was absolutely what they were looking for. Having an opinion is fine. Generalizing it across the population is where trouble happens.
@@mycroft16 "trouble happens" ? Lol nah this movie was lame. Only good thing about it was harold ramis and the guys passed away... They just made it for the younger generation and checked off all the boxes - female lead - annoying white kid - mixed cast - parents know nothing. I stand by what I said, in 20 yrs people will reach for the original movie before they want to rewatch this
Lol, I'm watching your award show now and it's really great to see the love people show you and your mom . She truly raised some very nice young ladies , I pray God's blessings and protection over you, Ben , Carly , momma and your family....
It honored the original while introducing new characters the right way. I would love to see those kids get their own stand alone ghostbusters movie in the future.
I agree, I hope the kids and the guys will come back for another film and train them. This story is about family. It must have the same magic as the earlier films👍🏻☺️👻
I was Very emotional throughout this movie. I love the respect this movie has with the original flick and the original crew. When the credits started to roll and the theme song came in i cried my eyes out. This movie for me is perfect. The right amount of respect and homages while still estabeleshing a firm foundation for a new crew and more movies in the future!
100% here too. I barely managed to hold it together through the Spirit Egon scenes, but the moment the theme song began to play I lost any remaining composure I had. It was just so cathartic. After the past ten to fifteen years of bad reboots and remakes of treasured properties of my childhood (and especially after the monstrosity that was the 2016 film) it was amazing to see a movie done right. Sure, there are problems with the film if you look hard enough, and there are things that I personally would have done differently… but that really doesn’t matter. It hits all the right notes emotionally, and made this old, cynical man feel something again, and even better, feel like the franchise and the fan base were respected by the movie makers. This film was a passion project, made by people who love the franchise, and it truly shows.
I loved how this movie stuck to the old saying of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I'm glad that we heard the original theme song instead of some abomination of a remake
Don't feel bad about crying when you saw the 'For Harold'. I saw this in theaters on opening day and literally EVERYONE in there shed a tear there too. Myself included. And billions of more tears around the world.
I ugly cried at the ending. My grandfather passed away in 2018, and of all the Ghostbusters, Egon was the most like him. This movie felt like a touching sendoff to my own grandfather as well as Egon. He was a mathematician, a teacher, and he even taught jail inmates in an attempt to reduce recidivism. I miss him so much.
Just like with Ghostbusters: The Videogame, this was a true love letter to fans of the first two films; this was also the perfect passing of the torch, within the film and from father to son; there are a mid and post credits scene
I've been replaying it along with The Last of Us. I wonder if Cassie and Carly would play The Last of Us for a second channel? "Popcorn Let's Play" or something like that
@@ShuffleUpandDeal32 Not sure either, but I've thought of sending Cassie my copy of the game for PS4. They can play one day in their spare time. I can imagine how they would think of the story of TLOU. It's an epic story that plays like a movie

I saw then 1st and 2nd original Ghostbusters movies in the theater and introduced them to my son we both love watching them together so when we heard this movie was coming out we were very excited and this was the way to end the trilogy of the original cast especially for Harold Ramis who passed away it was just so great to see them honor him this way! Now my son and I have seen a Ghostbuster movie together in a theater and now we can introduce this trilogy to our next generation of our family! Thanks Cassie I loved your reaction and it was great to see your reaction in a theater!!!
Just finished the movie and then watched your reaction too. This movie was everything I hoped it would be. Definitely cried a bit at the end with Harold's ghost. I thought the two post credit scenes were really good as well.
I loved this movie, Honoring Harold/Egon at the end was such a amazing tribute. I’m not gonna lie I cried few times at the end. McKenna Grace (Phoebe) was such an amazing character she was like a young Egon. From the hair and glasses to the personality. Out of a 10 I’d say it’s a 9.5 only cause there were some parts that were drawn out. I own all the movies on 4K and they are by far my favorite films in my movie collection.
Laughing so hard at your at Dan Akroyd dead comment and the caption you added after the fact. You’re so precious. Haha. Love your ability to make fun of yourself. Keep doing what you do! You are great.
I know. I was about to have a heart attack seeing that in the video. I love Dan and was like "OMG Dan died?!?! her caption made it so funny, whoops lol! 😲😂
What's cool is the son of the director of the original Ghostbusters is the one who made this movie. I thought it was a great homage to both his dad and Harold. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Your reactions were great Cassie. Also, I was scared at the beginning of the video because I thought you were driving. 😉
They did a real good job with this film, especially respecting the OG film and cast. Also, loved the theater reaction. I know you can't do it all the time (imagine it could get expensive) but definitely a cool setting.
I have lived the Ghostbusters my whole life, and had no desire to watch the 2016 remake. But with the involvement of Ivan and Jason Reitman, I knew this couldn’t be missed. Cried like a baby. So much heart and love was put into this movie, and you can feel it. Loved it so much.
I'm not a HUGE Ghostbusters fan, but I teared up when the OGs showed up, and then I cried with full on tears when Egon showed up (loved the Dragon Ball Z moment there with Egon and Phoebe 😁), and the the hug with his daughter... I think the fact that Harold Ramis really passed is what hit me hard. This movie was very respectful to the OG while not overdoing it. 🥲
I never got to see Ghostbusters 1 and 2 in the theater, so watching this on the big screen, hearing that music, and sound effects in there, it was something special.
I finally watched this last month and wow. I felt like the child I was when I watched the original. It was beyond charming and clever. I also appreciate that they took elements of a few proposed third entries that never came to be, and used them for this story. While it had a few call backs to the original, it did not go down the route of Force Awakens and lean on them (and become a greatest hits of the original) to attempt to be good. The way they brought Harold Ramis into this movie, and handled it with such respect and love was beautiful. It was also great seeing the original cast as well, and in a time frame that worked, where they are not forced into the story and overstating their welcome. And the theme of passing the torch to the next generation is also beautiful when you consider the director Jason Reitman is the son of Ivan, who directed the original.
@@IR4TE The references however do not overshadow the new story. Rather they are there to be reminders and a tip of the cap to fans. And as I said, it took elements from many proposes 3rd films, and used them... these elements dealt with Ivo Shandor and Gozer, so it was almost inevitable. Whereas you compare it to The Force Awakens, which used those as a crutch to redo the entire trilogy to attempt to tell a new story... this one did it right.
@@ChipJones421 Agreed. Considering the average audience age of kids seeing this movie first and not knowing the orignals existence is probably pretty high. ... When I talk to 20 somethings these days "old"movies are pre-2000. .... the callbacks are definitely appropriate
RIP Harold Raimis A fun movie, I too missed the end credit sequence as I had been busting to go to the toilet for about 50min and it was hurting to hold, but went the next weekend to watch it again and managed to watch the whole enchilada. A great send-off for Harold and Egon, they will be missed 😭
It's a great movie. I grew up with the original classics and this was a very good movie. IT'S NOT perfect... , it got some flaws but the emotional ending was a love letter to the fans.
I'm with you, I went to see the release in theaters on my birthday. Haven't been to the movies in like 2 years since we moved like 50 miles away from any decent theater. So glad THIS movie released for my birthday last year, got to make it a thing to go see it. Glad you got to see it and share with us, thanks. And yeah I cried then, and I cried again. Just picked up the bluray too, so I gotta watch all the special features. Lastly, it might be a lot over the top, but Adam Savage's Tested here on UA-cam has a bunch of in-the-weeds videos into the production of the movie.
I had just finished watching movies that made us for the original ghost busters not even a month before this was out. Let me tell ya it was Niagara Falls for me at the theatre seeing the love letter to Harold. I still see that end scene now and get like dust in my eye or something. :)
"That guy" that died at the beginning was Egon Spengler. The actor that played him, Harold Ramis, had died a few years or so before this movie began, so that death scene, as well as the end, were sort of a send off. Harold Ramis had written the screen play that would be Ghostbusters with Dan Aykroyd, (who had originally written it to be a buddy cop, future police force movie).
I bawled like a baby the last 45 minutes. Even though Rick didn't want to be in it, I think they could have snuck a photo into the second end credit scene. Winston needed an accountant lol
It made sense, too. Winston didn't become a Ghostbuster for riches, excitement, or the science. He just needed a job. So, after they went broke the first time, and Vigo brought them new business, he was practical enough to invest in a side business.
While in Walmart running from the terror dog, Gary runs past a display of track suits just like what Louis wore in the original. Do wish they could have gotten Rick as well but it was a nice touch.
Cassie, nice job doing this from the theatre. It added a nice ambiance. I have yet to see the movie, but will get to it. Your reaction was priceless as always. The tribute to Harold Ramis was touching and the ending was quite emotional. Thank you.
hey! ya know, during your intro, i saw that snow on the mountains in the background and thought, hmm, that looks familiar.. looked in your info, and sho nuff, Provo.. lol! i don't know why i didn't know this yet, but it is a small world sista.. I'm up in Park City! so, Hey Neighbor! .. hahah, lol, how fun! keep killing it girl, i love this new theatre experience, high five! p.s. Cujo wen?? ;-)
I like how they brought back the lesser known 'eerie' soundtrack bits from the first movie, that made it feel more like a Ghostbusters sequel than if they had the main theme here and there.
This made my Top 5 list for 2021. Such a great movie. It honored the original while letting the new cast stand on their own. Phoebe is a great character, I hope we see more of her. Side note: Sour Patch Watermelons are my favorite theater candy.
Adam Savage (of MythBuster's Fame) has been doing a great series about the art production. He was even the propmaker for the Aztec Death Whistles. He also did an interview with Jason Reitman (director of this movie and son of Ivan Reitman, the original director) here: Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/XhBSibI2nuA/v-deo.html Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/u5CDKWnWpPs/v-deo.html
Just had a chance to watch this movie and it was far better than advertised!! The movie connected so well with the original. I loved how fearless Phoebe was, no matter what! A message that came across to me is never miss any chance to make amends or reach out to someone before it may be too late.
I really love this movie. It might be my favourite Ghostbusters movie (and I loved Ghostbusters I AND II). I'm not normally a fan of kids in films but the cast are really good and Mckenna Grace is outstanding. It will be a tragedy if we never get another movie with Phoebe 'Spengler' (I guess that wouldn't be her last name but I don't think we get to know their last name). Also, "Did Walmart OK this?" is one of Cassie's all-time great lines of reaction 😂
I absolutely loved this movie. The Ghostbusters movies and cartoon series were a big part of my childhood. Went to the theater with my son to watch it. It was awesome to see how into the movie he was. The ending literally had him on the edge of his seat and the same for the boy that was sitting next to him. Very awesome to see and to share that experience with him!
I love that you do the diet coke/cherry coke thing. I thought I was the only one! Something about popcorn and cherry coke at a movie theater is pure nostalgic love for me!
I literally stood up and cheered when they showed up at the end. Was watching it on the computer and hubby came in going "What are you doing?". And then I cried when Egon showed up. I really loved that they dedicated this to Ramis. Gone but not forgotten.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife has the same feel as the 80 films and fit well with them, with a great young cast and ties up well with the original cast. Thank you for letting us watch your reaction in your 30 minute video. I think people of all ages will enjoy this story of mystery and humor and childhood adventure. It reminded me of watching the originals as a kid. I am looking forward to more sequels knowing that the Ghostbusters is in good hands if they include Jason Reitman and the rest of the team to make more movies with love and heart.
I liked this one a lot. It was charming and did not try to be a simple rehash of the first one. The girl really carried it, however all the cast were great.
Cassie, Seeing you reacting to this in a real movie theater was stunning. I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone has ever done that before. What a great idea! It was so nice seeing a blending of the new with the old in this film. Wonderful. It would have been nice to see everyone washing and cleaning up Ecto 1 in the end credits.
It is pretty cool, no? She has done one before, but the audio was terrible, and it will never make it to UA-cam. She rented out the theater for DUNE, and watched with 30+ friends and family. It's available on Patreon, and she interviews her whole family afterwards, its really fun. -Jon
@@jedijones You can hear about 90%, but she didn't have the best Mic back then, It was a real learning experience! SO much has improved, with the Ghostbuster reaction, and coming soon, another in theater reaction. In the DUNE reaction, the sound from the theater is really loud, so it kind of drowns out her voice a lot. Biggest issue is the edit for UA-cam, since the film sound cannot be muted, it would get copyright strikes.
@@jonjohns65 Okay. Hmm. I haven't watched any since the Matrix 2 and Afterlife reactions because I either haven't seen these movies or thought they were kind of boring. I'm assuming she'll be reacting to No Way Home in theaters next? I think she needs to get back to watching some cult classic sci-fi and action movies or more iconic comedies. I can think of Commando, Animal House, Blues Brothers, Abyss, 2001, True Lies, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles, Naked Gun. And she should definitely watch some of the all-time turkeys like Troll 2 and The Room.
This was the perfect wrap up for Ghostbusters to be a trilogy. It was so beautifully done, and a wonderful tribute to Harold Ramis. Dan, Bill, and Ernie did Harold right by this film! But it does give us that thirst for more and Phoebe is a super badass ghostbuster!
Even watching it again, It still gets me in the feels. I really enjoyed this sequel! I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I hope you filmed your post credit reaction. I was looking forward to seeing your reaction.
I love how this film is such a love letter to the fans of the films from the 80's and a tribute to Mr. Ramis; Mr. Hudson's line towards the ghost of Egon felt like he was talking to the ghost of Mr. Ramis.
My favourite part is when Phoebe is ready to straight up fight the cops with a proton pack - the look in her eyes was amazing. It was a perfect movie IMO but I think McKenna Grace really did most of the heavy lifting - she absolutely nailed it.
Pretty much loved this movie, I found it heartwarming, fun, charming, cute and nostalgic all at once, with great kid actors and an interesting story connecting to the original movie. It has the right mix of humor and spookyness, together with some adult wink-wink nudge-nudge for those of us who were young when the first movie came out. Although things have been amped up versus the 1980s (because you gotta amp everything up in a sequel it seems), the movie doesn't go overboard too much about it. So yeah, I approve. Solid 8/10 production.
For a moment I was horrified at the idea of doing a reaction in a theater until you said it was rented out...I was afraid you'd turned into one of those people that made me quit going to theaters. This is essentially what the franchise needed after the unsuccessful reboot attempt a few years back, though it has a few small issues. One, not enough Paul Rudd. He fits with the Ghostbusters tone so perfectly with his style of humor. Two, not nearly enough Ivo Shandor; it was really weird to introduce the idea that he's actually still alive only to kill him immediately after he rises. And given that Gozer has no specific form, there's no real reason it should still look like an 80s pop star...they missed a perfect opportunity to have it come as a giant Sloar, just so we could see what that was. But these are small complaints. And of course they aren't telling the adults. These may not literally be 80s kids, but this is still an 80s kids movie in spirit, and we 80s kids went it alone-we had to, as our parents were always at work. I feel sorry for kids today, who have so little independence. What are they going to do when an ancient Sumerian demigod tries to take over the world, attack it with mean tweets?
I guess that's just how Gozer has chosen to manifest in this world before becoming the Destructor. I mean she stuck her head up in the 80s, maybe she dug the style. Just because it's an apocalyptic monster deity doesn't mean it doesn't have tastes.
You're gonna get covid eventually. We all are. It's endemic now. The avoidance strategy is pointless and it's beyond time to let everyone go completely back to their lives.
Saw it in the theater as well, (all 3 actually and not just the re-release of the first one in 2014) and the entire place erupted when Egon assisted his granddaughter. Such a wonderful tribute to a fine actor and director and human being. RIP Harold Ramis you are sorely missed.
I am an old school fan. Saw the original when I was 10. I couldn't sleep that night thinking about the library ghost and my mum was saying "You wanted to watch it!" And Afterlife was the best film they could have made right now. It was sincere and I can't complain at all. I really enjoyed it plenty. I am looking forward to the novelization.
Saw the original in the theatre as a 17 year old & Afterlife was everything & more that this now 55 year old could have hoped for. Glad you experienced it on the big screen. Perfect ending as the tears flowed. Another wonderful PIB review 👏 🍿
I was disappointed by that. Would have liked to have seen Sigourney Weaver appear in the main story rather than a pointless cameo at the end. Not sure how they'd have written her in, but I felt that her inclusion was completely unnecessary.

Well stated 👋👋👋
It was also Directed and I think co-written by Ivan Reitman’s son, Jason.
Fun fact about the house set on the farm is it was a real house they built from scratch to simulate fake Earthquakes, Adam Savage did a tour of the set and they explained they chose to make it shift as one practically.
Note to self: Don't forget to remind Cassie to watch Cujo this Halloween.

@@mycroft16 "trouble happens" ? Lol nah this movie was lame. Only good thing about it was harold ramis and the guys passed away...
They just made it for the younger generation and checked off all the boxes

When Egon came on screen..I became a blubbering mess....I also cried in the post credit scene when they showed the coin clip. I LOVED this movie!!!
It honored the original while introducing new characters the right way. I would love to see those kids get their own stand alone ghostbusters movie in the future.
I agree, also in sequel they operate at home base in NYC i hope.
yeah, it's coming.....and it'll be milked until it's ruined, can u say HOLLYWOOD CASH GRAB
@@paulcurran4786 It's actually the continuation of a personal story by the original creators and their family. So it's the opposite of a cash grab.
I agree, I hope the kids and the guys will come back for another film and train them. This story is about family. It must have the same magic as the earlier films👍🏻☺️👻
@@paulcurran4786 I don’t understand why you people always gotta be so negative?
This was a great tribute to the original films. So emotional at the end. Rip Harold
Good to know that I'm not the only one to cry at the ending.
Fun Fact: They made a Ghostbusters video game in 2009 with same cast Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis & Ernie Hudson.
It's so much fun!! I got a jonzing to replay it now~

What do you mean drawn out?
This movie really connects with me because parts were filmed in Drumheller Alberta and it's something else seeing the local town on screen.
I recommend GALAXY QUEST. Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tim Allen and more...
TOTALLY AGREE!
I love that movie!
Great movie
Absolutely!
Yes!
Egon's house was built specifically for this movie. It was used both inside and out.
PS Cujo is a Stephen King novel that was adapted to into a movie.
I watched this yesterday, AND the extras, I almost cried, this movie was made for Egon.
I actually cried when Egon nodded to Winston!
Yah. I cried at the end. Ghostbusters rule ❤️
So much love for Harold, i thought it was the perfect "In Memory"... loved it...
McKenna Grace really knocked it out of the park as Phoebe. Very well done.
This was one of my favorite movies of the last few years. McKenna Grace stole the show. I really hope they make sequels with her.
I think most of the actors did it, too, not just McKenna Grace.
21:41 that kid has the most convincing face of someone hurt and upset in a movie Ive ever seen, mckenna grace can definitely act
I have watched these movie in cinema for 6 times and still cried every single time i saw egon's appearance.
Such a perfect tribute for Harold
A few call backs? It feels like 50% of this movie are references to the original.
Considering the average audience age of kids seeing this movie first and not knowing the orignals existence is probably pretty high. ...

A fun movie, I too missed the end credit sequence as I had been busting to go to the toilet for about 50min and it was hurting to hold, but went the next weekend to watch it again and managed to watch the whole enchilada. A great send-off for Harold and Egon, they will be missed 😭

The floodgates of tears opened up for me in the theater... I was so overcome by all the emotions
I've watched this a bunch of times already and tear up each time Egon shows up. Great movie.
Doing a reaction in the theater, so cool!
LOL I DIED laughing at her thinking Dan had also passed away lmao
It was a really good horror comedy in the same spirit of the first movie. I love watching movies in the theatre.
I have seen this movie so many times now. It brings me to tears EVERY single time.......For Harold.
Thank you.

He also did an interview with Jason Reitman (director of this movie and son of Ivan Reitman, the original director) here:

(OK I suppose she does say Spengler at the end... that'll do for me.)
I wish Harold Ramis was in this movie R.I.P you just made everyone cry in Theatres
I swear, this was the best long-awaited sequel I've ever seen... well, other than Twin Peaks The Return!
Quite possibly my favorite movie of 2021!! Right up there, side-by-side with Spider-Man!! Way to go SONY that's TWO MAJOR TRIUMPHS!!
I cried in the Cinema, when "Harold" came... and i wasnt ashamed. What a good Movie. Yay.
I am looking forward to more sequels knowing that the Ghostbusters is in good hands if they include Jason Reitman and the rest of the team to make more movies with love and heart.
what a call back lines from Ray. and Peter gives Ray the look, and Winston. says "Ray!" and Ray finally say "yes" to the God question.
I liked this one a lot. It was charming and did not try to be a simple rehash of the first one. The girl really carried it, however all the cast were great.
A very awesome movie. I was so happy for the Harold bits at the start and got teary eyed when his ghost showed up. Can’t wait for the sequel!
This was the first movie I saw in theatres since early 2020, and it was beyond worth it.
This film was shot in southern Calgary, Drumheller and stetler! Alberta film!!
Cassie,
Seeing you reacting to this in a real movie theater was stunning.
-Jon
@@jonjohns65 How bad is the audio in the Patreon copy? Can you hear everything Cassie says?

The afterscene credits....👀👀👀 it was a fantastic movie!!!
My favourite part is when Phoebe is ready to straight up fight the cops with a proton pack - the look in her eyes was amazing.
It was a perfect movie IMO but I think McKenna Grace really did most of the heavy lifting - she absolutely nailed it.
Popcorn you are a trailblazer in the movie reaction genre….this is amazing!!!
Honestly I'm not against the 80's pop star Gozer, that way we got Olivia Wilde uncredited, and she was amazing!
I cry harder every time I watch the ending of this movie.
That worked out really well Cassie. You are revolutionizing the reaction game lol. I hope you do it again sometime.
Saw the original in the theatre as a 17 year old & Afterlife was everything & more that this now 55 year old could have hoped for. Glad you experienced it on the big screen. Perfect ending as the tears flowed. Another wonderful PIB review 👏 🍿
I`ve seen it 7 times now I LOVE THIS FILM!
MY fave was the credits scene with Bill Murray and Segorney Weaver
I was disappointed by that. Would have liked to have seen Sigourney Weaver appear in the main story rather than a pointless cameo at the end. Not sure how they'd have written her in, but I felt that her inclusion was completely unnecessary.
