Thanks for the video, customers ask me all the time the difference between the gen 3 and gen 4 and its nice to be able to have something i can reference them to if they don't want to take my word for it
A very professional and informative video. I am a military veteran, and a casual gun enthusiast. I have a few guns, and I enjoy target shooting occasionally to keep my skills sharp. One thing I've noticed that a LOT of gun shops alienate their customers by having a condescending attitude that is both unprofessional and unhelpful. It is that type of attitude that keeps more folks from enjoying gun ownership. Thank you for being an exception to the rule! Now I know where to buy my next gun.
who would dislike this video? seriously 88 dislikes? lol this guy lenny is top notch with the gun info, and keeps it classy. whats wrong with youz guyz?
I take a gen 3 all day long better all gold standard model. Who need back straps that stay losse pin s and the original springs work fine no trouble lk with dule but I hear gen 3 Glock has dual springs for um
I have a Glock 27. It has the gen 4 slide with the hole ,but the mag release is not ambidextrous its only on the left side. I'm trying to figure out it's generation.
Great and informative video. I am buying my first G19 next week and this gives me even more confidence in the purchase. I am purchasing the Gen 4, but have only shot a Gen 3. Thank you once again for such an informative video.
Great video. When I bought my last Glock 26 I was debating between a GEN three or gen four and one thing that you didn't mention was that the gen fours come with three magazines opposed to the Gen threes only coming with two. The gen four was only about $25 more and for the money you get the extra mag and all that stuff you mentioned and it's hard to find a 10 round Glock mags for under $25 so that's what made me buy the gen 4. The extra mag plus all the features you mentioned. Not sure if all the gen fours come with the extra mags but if they do and the price is close I'd buy the gen 4 every time.
Just wanted to say thank you for your videos Lenny. Very professional and informative and I will probably be buying some parts from Glock Store soon. Thanks again for the videos!
So all of the upper parts on gen 4 are still compatible with the gen 3? extractor and spring assembly, firing pin safety, firing pin assembly and back plate?..... So can I still use a gen 3 UPK on a gen 4 slide? (other than the guide rod, obviously).
I bought a Glock 29 about twelve years ago and was very impressed the way the spring functioned in working the slide. Especially when handloading hot 200 grain projectiles. It handled the loads better than my Glock 20. I'm surprised they decided to change the spring since the old one worked so well. The upgrades they made from the original Glock 20 were needed.
Just bought what I was told was a NIB G27Gen4. However, it doesn't say Gen4 on the slide though it has the dual recoil spring. The frame has the Gen3 mag release. So WTF?
a question abut the LaserMax Sight: Glock GAN4 comes with a dual and upgraded spring on the Guide Rod. The laser has only one spring. Does that bring me back to "Glock GAN3"?
Thanks, this video cleared up, and corrected a ton of 'Gun Store Guru's' who had no idea what they were talking about. Mags being compatible with all both Gen's is usually what most 'Gun Store Guru's' get wrong.
Thank you for the info I've been a right-handed man all my life but a recent injury required me to use my left hand which incidentally is now my dominant.
going to outfit a Glock 21 with 460 Rowland; makes it hit like a .44 Magnum. The bigger round mean stronger magazine needed (best way to put it). was curious about the gen 4 vs gen 3 mag difference.
I ordered a trigger. It said it wouldn’t bill me till my order shipped. It took my money right away. Then I call 12 days after I placed my order because I didn’t get a response to my 3 emails. Then they tell my is on back order. At this point will never buy from here again. They didn’t even seem to care.
This is old & times have changed 🤟 I bought a $200 Gen 3 PSA Dagger SW4 GatorMouth cut, RMR milled, threaded barrel, suppressor sights in FDE, Complete Slide for my Gen 5 G19X & it fits & performs perfectly.. I bought the G (SAP) Adapter to fill that small gap between the frame & slide in the front but just swap out the backplates if you have a complete Gen 3 slide for your Gen 4 or 5 frames 🤟
I have to say that I like my Gen 4 G22 trigger much better than the trigger on my G19... not sure if they did anything different on the trigger, but I recently picked up a new Gen 3, and the Gen 3 G19 trigger noticeably pulls harder than the Gen 4 G19 - at least the one I have... does anyone know if they improved the trigger? Or did I just get a lemon trigger on the Gen3?
Is it possible to have a Gen 4 upper and Gen 3 lower on a Glock 27 but have the same serial #?? I just got it a few days ago, used from a gun shop and I'm new to Glocks. But from almost everything I seen in this video is pointing to that. I have the dual spring guide rod with the bigger end and the little hole in the end of the rod, but no replaceable grips, the same texture on the grip as a Gen 3 and it DOES NOT say Gen 4 on the slide. I'm not even finished with the video yet but I have a feeling their will be more differences.
Does this go for the "new" g30sf ? I bought it in early Feb this year and it has features of both . the test fire date was 7/28/2011 does the date make it gen 4? there is no gen 4 mark on slide
Many of the subcompact (G26, G27's, etc) Glocks had double recoil springs way before Gen 4's came out. Based on the hump you describe, I'd say it's a Gen 3.
My Glock 26 and Glock 30 di NOT say "Gen 4" on the slkde. However, both guns DO have the "gen 4" style recoil guide rod. So are my glocks gen 4 or gen 3? Or is GLock making hybrids?!? Please advise.
This got me a little confused. I just purchased a new model 26 and it does not say Gen 4 however it has everything in this video that the Gen4 has except for the grip knurling and grip panels. The guide. hole, guide rod and the clips it came with are the same as the 4. I know he said that they are making all Glocks now with the Gen4 magazines. Is this video correct?
I recently bought a 17 Gen4 and am a left handed shooter. Is there any way to switch the magazine release button to the right side of the pistol so I may use my thumb instead of my index finger to release the magazine?
SO.... other than the guide rod assembly and guide rod hole, can you put a Gen 4 slide on a Gen 3 frame??? Can you use a Gen 4 slide on a Polymer 80 frame with the use of a Gen 3 guide rod and adapter??? Thanks!
I have a gen 3 G27. I bought some gen 4 Glock 22 mags to reload with. I have found that that every once in awhile the gen 4 mags will cause a malfunction in my gen 3 gun. It seems like its usually around the 4th or 5th shot the slide will stay locked back and will not cycle the next round.. Anyone else run into this? I don't know if maybe the mags just need to get broken in or what I never had this problem putting a full size glock 22 gen 3 mag into the 27. typically use remington or winchester ammo thanks
can plastic rod be replaced with either steel rod or tungsten rod if you are using its pistol as CCW in California? changing such as guide rod considered as customization which state do not allow if it registered as CCW?
Paul Son California is obviously not the place to be if you intend on protecting yourself. The fact that someone has to ask this type of question should throw up red flags for everyone. one word....INFRINGEMENT
Does a gen3 barrel will work on a gen4? I want to get a glock 32 barrel for my glock 23 gen4. All the barrel websites won't show a gen4 glock 32 OEM barrel.
will a gen4 slide fit a gen3 lower the gen4 looked a little fatter where the guide rod is than the gen3 I am asking because I am doing a build from polymer80 the Spectre 80% but it's compatible with gen3 only and I have a Glock 35 gen4 slide and how would I go about changing a gen4 trigger bar so it will work in a gen3 lower, Thanks found your video helpful
i want to bye the gen4 10 mm but i went to hoffman and they dont have it in stock,,and i dont want to bye it with out try it,,how many sizes they comming ??
all subcompact glocks have had the dual nested spring assembly for a long time. All they did is transfer that to all Gen4 models (full size and compact)
I have small hands and I use it without the extension grips. It interchangeable, so the grips will not be an issue. It made for everyone. Only thing I don't like about the gun is the the handle is to wide because of the double stack magazine and it is very hard to conceal with fitted clothing. Other than that, the gun is flawless.
Id say gen 3. Check the side of the slide. The baby glocks have always had a double recoil spring. The larger gen 3 models have the different guide rod springs. Probably got a new gen 3 with new gen 4 mags.
I have a glock 27 gen 3. I'm a left handed shooter. Can I switch the mag release over to the other side? I do understand from the video I would have to use gen 4 mags but you never really clarified if a gen 3 mag release can be switched over for the lefty's.

Anybody else having a problem with the Gen 4 mag release when shooting it seems to be too big and my magazine will drop while trying to shoot especially one handed
You keep referring to the grip panels as grip angles. I dont believe the grip angle changed, or has it? Obviously without a panel the grip is smaller. But same angle.
I wouldn't call Gen 4's mag release "ambi", it's reversible. Ambi mag release is something like HK's paddle release, or a thumb release that you can push from either side without changing it.
If a Glock could talk it would sound exactly like Lenny. Thanks: always simple, clear and to the point.
That gen 3 slide finish ❤
Thanks for the video, customers ask me all the time the difference between the gen 3 and gen 4 and its nice to be able to have something i can reference them to if they don't want to take my word for it
Yes, Gen 3 subcompacts (26, 27, 33) already have dual spring guide rods.
You have a great speaking voice - you should've been a radio DJ.
I’m sure he makes more money doing this. Lol.
Covered all my questions in this great video. Thank you!

Glock haters.
Definitely Top Notch
Glock haters I bet. 😈
Visited his store yesterday. Well I won’t be back. Spent money at 2 other stores today. Customer service was horrible.
I take a gen 3 all day long better all gold standard model. Who need back straps that stay losse pin s and the original springs work fine no trouble lk with dule but I hear gen 3 Glock has dual springs for um

Gen-4 is great, but I still love the Gen-3!😍👍
Such pointless banter.
I'm a gen 25 pimp
@@GeneralZap pointless comment
Gen 3 better
I have a Glock 27 gen 3 and it has a dual recoil spring with the larger guide rod hole
The 'baby' sized blocks always had dual recoil springs. Gen 4 incorporated them into all the guns
That's what I figured. I had to prove it to a few ffls lol
Watching this video in April 2022. Lenny doesn't look so young any more but still looking great, and still making great videos.
Great and informative video. I am buying my first G19 next week and this gives me even more confidence in the purchase. I am purchasing the Gen 4, but have only shot a Gen 3. Thank you once again for such an informative video.
I just bought my first hand gun...a gen 3 glock 19....fuckin' awesome gun...I will be buying more glock's in the future...
U got the better one those dumb back straps on gen 4 gets loose as the dule spring s had problems to I heard gen 3 all day
1:00 im sorry im new but what are those for? what is the purpose of a guide rode hole?
Great video. When I bought my last Glock 26 I was debating between a GEN three or gen four and one thing that you didn't mention was that the gen fours come with three magazines opposed to the Gen threes only coming with two. Just cause the mags wtf 😂 weirdo
Hopefully Glock will keep on making the Gen 3. I have friends in CA who love Glocks and I myself prefer the Gen 3.
Juan Rosete Absolutely, Gen 3 is a MASSIVE seller in restricted states.
Gen three. A better Glock true
This guy is awesome, their whole Co. is just great, love how he stays making all the vids we want to see on Glocks!!
My glock 30 has a big guide rod hole. But doesn't say gen 4 on the slide?
Thanks for the video. Your guys are always helpful when I call the store.
I have just learned to overcome my left handedness... i just use the middle finger of my firing hand to operate the mag release. it's worked so far...
I'm a lefty and I've always used my trigger finger to drop the mag. It was never a problem.
(other than the guide rod, obviously).
the trigger is harder on the gen 4 cause of bump it has that when file down is a lot better

This guy has the best informative videos
a question abut the LaserMax Sight: Glock GAN4 comes with a dual and upgraded spring on the Guide Rod. The laser has only one spring. Does that bring me back to "Glock GAN3"?
What's the difference between the tungstun and stainless? Which is better? And which weight should I go with? 22lb? when shooting +p ammo?
I must have a freak gen 3 Glock 27. I bought it new and never altered it. It has the large guide spring hole.
@Kevin Fair - I believe many of the subcompacts automatically come with the large spring even way before GEN 4
Same here gen 4 style recoil spring gen 4 style slide but no gen 4 on the slide. I know my 27 is a gen 3 for other obvious reasons. Please advise
Same here
Glock 42 is the same way, all the Gen 4 features but nothing on slide. Maybe it's a glock USA thing?
going to outfit a Glock 21 with 460 Rowland; makes it hit like a .44 Magnum. The bigger round mean stronger magazine needed (best way to put it). was curious about the gen 4 vs gen 3 mag difference.
won't that wear the shit out of the slide? i suppose depends on how much you shoot as well
Gen 3 gold standard model
I ordered a trigger. It said it wouldn’t bill me till my order shipped. It took my money right away. Then I call 12 days after I placed my order because I didn’t get a response to my 3 emails. Then they tell my is on back order. At this point will never buy from here again. They didn’t even seem to care.
I do not see an advantage of the gen 4 over the gen 3's or previous Glocks. Why change something when it works?
This is old & times have changed 🤟

The gen4 also has a beaver tail back strap which is why I bought one
I have a glock 19c and bought it 15 yrs ago.. i dunno what gen it was?
I have to say that I like my Gen 4 G22 trigger much better than the trigger on my G19... not sure if they did anything different on the trigger, but I recently picked up a new Gen 3, and the Gen 3 G19 trigger noticeably pulls harder than the Gen 4 G19 - at least the one I have... does anyone know if they improved the trigger? Or did I just get a lemon trigger on the Gen3?
Not sure on this one, I only own gen3's for comparison
What about the extractors are they still having problems
My g30 wich is Gen 3 has same spring as as 4th Gen

He should have pointed out something I saw in another video--the Glock 26 and 27 Gen 3 already have the dual recoil springs.
How do you tell the difference between a gen 2 and 3?
I have a Gen 3? G30, but it has the dual spring guide rod spring/slide. Ser # SUV 9XX. Do I have something unusual?
I bought a brand-new Glock 30 GEN three but it had a double recoil spring not a single spring
Does this go for the "new" g30sf ? I bought it in early Feb this year and it has features of both . the test fire date was 7/28/2011 does the date make it gen 4? there is no gen 4 mark on slide

Lenny,
Not having held a Gen 4 with a +4 grip panel, to what would you liken it?
I recently bought a 17 Gen4 and am a left handed shooter. Is there any way to switch the magazine release button to the right side of the pistol so I may use my thumb instead of my index finger to release the magazine?
SO.... other than the guide rod assembly and guide rod hole, can you put a Gen 4 slide on a Gen 3 frame??? Can you use a Gen 4 slide on a Polymer 80 frame with the use of a Gen 3 guide rod and adapter??? Thanks!
You have a gen3, the 26, 27, & 33 already had the dual spring as a gen3.
I'm not a fan of the gen 4 models, I've always liked the gen 3 models
What makes gen 3s better? just curious because im deciding between a 3 and a 4 @Captain -
very informative and well spoken, just wondering why the change?
how about the barrels? Are you able to take a gen 3 barrel and use it in a gen 4?
I have a gen 3 G27. I bought some gen 4 Glock 22 mags to reload with. I have found that that every once in awhile the gen 4 mags will cause a malfunction in my gen 3 gun. How reliable is the gen 3 mag in a gen 4 gun
Will a Glock 22 Gen 4 magazine work in a Glock 22 gen 2 pistol?

We here in CA can't buy a gen4.What is going to happen if the gen3 are discontinued? Will your shop close? lol
Packed full of info... I am looking to add a G19 to my Glock 26Gen4.... Thanks
Would a gen 4 barrel fit in a gen 3
i want to bye the gen4 10 mm but i went to hoffman and they dont have it in stock,,and i dont want to bye it with out try it,,how many sizes they comming ??
Now i got it, glock20 gen 4 and i want the gen 3 with compensator
Ray t I'll bet you're loving you gen 4 Glock 20. Ted Nugent carries one.
all subcompact glocks have had the dual nested spring assembly for a long time. All they did is transfer that to all Gen4 models (full size and compact)
can u put a gen 4 slide on a gen 3 for only the glock 29
How can I tell what gen is my G19? It's neither Gen3/Gen4.
"It says Gen 4 on the side" "that is your first clue it is a gen 4 gun" ......that's not a clue.....it's the answer!
Get the real f****** comedian here huh?!
First time owning a Glock I’m always been a Colt man Which is better in your opinion
if I had a gen 3 barrel, could I put it in my gen 4 if same caliber
I have small hands and I use it without the extension grips. It interchangeable, so the grips will not be an issue. It made for everyone. Only thing I don't like about the gun is the the handle is to wide because of the double stack magazine and it is very hard to conceal with fitted clothing. Other than that, the gun is flawless.
why gen4 is not purchasable in California?
So.. my new glock 26 i just got has: small mag release(gen 3), double recoil spring(gen 4), also a gen 4 magazine. What do i have!?
Id say gen 3. Check the side of the slide. The baby glocks have always had a double recoil spring. The larger gen 3 models have the different guide rod springs. Probably got a new gen 3 with new gen 4 mags.
+BADFISHHHHHH you have cancer. Cheers
So gen4 mags work in gen3
I have a glock 27 gen 3. I'm a left handed shooter. Can I switch the mag release over to the other side? I do understand from the video I would have to use gen 4 mags but you never really clarified if a gen 3 mag release can be switched over for the lefty's.
***** The gen3 mag release is not changeable for lefty use, if you want to be able to have the mag release on the opposite (either) side of the pistol you'll need to pick up a gen4.
Any idea of when aftermarket gen 4 lowers will come out for sale?
Is the striker the same in the Gen 3 and 4
Trigger bar is interchangeable
Can a Glock 19 slide fit on a Glock 17 frame?
i want to know can you use a gen 4 slide assembly on a gen 3 frame and vice versa? would a gen 3 internal parts kit operate a gen 4 slide?
naw
You forgot to mention the different texture pattern on the Gen4 grip.
Hello Lenny
I’ve been wanting to buy a Glock for a while and I finally bought one but when I got mind it’s not like what I’ve been seeing on all the reviews so my question is ( if I buy a brand new Glock from a gun dealer what will it come with it?) as from Glock.
At 2:40: When he says "Shaped like the Glock grip." Does he mean: Shaped like the gen 3 grip?
+Blake Bergener That's how I understood him.
Anybody else having a problem with the Gen 4 mag release when shooting it seems to be too big and my magazine will drop while trying to shoot especially one handed
Gen 3 best gold standard model
Great comparison, thanks.
I've heard the Glocks sold in Europe have ambidextrous slide releases, or are at least capable of having them added. Is this true?
You keep referring to the grip panels as grip angles. I dont believe the grip angle changed, or has it? Obviously without a panel the grip is smaller. But same angle.
I just bought my first glock and why does it look like I have a gen 4 guide rod on my gen 3 G30 SF?
+Patrick My 30SF is the same as yours
Wich one do you prefer ?
Whats better with dual spring from gen 4 vs the one from gen 3?
shouldn't you just stop if it doesn't say gen 4 on it? Just pointing it out just in case I am missing something.
I wouldn't call Gen 4's mag release "ambi", it's reversible. Ambi mag release is something like HK's paddle release, or a thumb release that you can push from either side without changing it.
Great video. Did you ever use that fly rod I traded you Lenny?
Would a gen 2 mag fit on a glock 19 gen3??
Do they make magwells for glock 23 gen 4..???
