Whoever’s idea it was to change MINX to Dreamcatcher and give them a rock concept deserves an award because their music stands out so so much. The whole album is incredible! I highly recommend it. Also, I hope Cherry Bullet - Hands Up is on your list to react? I’d love to know your thoughts - the instrumental is so fresh and quirky.
AznIntegra521 it was his idea personally? That’s awesome. Sometimes it’s managers or producers or members who suggest big changes to groups. So that’s cool that the CEO is hands on.
kylepop the ceo really cares deeply for the girls, which was y he disbanded “Minx” coz they flopped. Although the rock part im sure the girls had some say in it coz Siyeon and Jiu are into that type of music.
AZODi yes! Dreamcatcher began as MINX in 2015 with a cuter, summer concept but they completely rebranded a couple of years later and added a couple of new members :) and clearly it paid off.
I feel like although this is definitely their loudest title track I actually feel it has the most pop approach compared to any of their past stuff. Which definitely makes it feel really unique up against their past title tracks
I don't know... I'd say that Deja Vu is simultaneously one of their softest tracks and their hardest/loudest. The chorus is so immense and the verses so sparse.
@@VII0777 oh no by poppy I don't so much mean soft. I'm more meaning that the song has a very pop approach to it's writing and song structure Like it has a lot of qualities where If ya switch out the more rock instruments and played the song with more synth based sounds. It'd still work. Where's I feel their other title tracks stay very faithful to rock or metal writing
DREAMCATCHER shares the same music producers, LEEZ and Ollounder, with ATEEZ. Music wise, u can even notice the similarities btw both groups: epic feel to it, ethnic and cinematic drums at the background, a lot of layers, a lot of progression changes and different sections mixed with trap-like percussion. Other aspect is that they know very well how to incorporate the traditional music attending to both groups concepts into modern music. On one hand, DREAMCATCHER we have a Medieval concept mixed pretty well with hard rock/metal and EDM by using of ethnic drums and reverebrated and soft grand pianos that transport u to a Games of thrones type of scenery. On the other hand in ATEEZ we have that typical pirates/vikings melodies and battle drums in a lot of songs. In addition, they used a sample that I figure that is like there signature, and Im talking bout music FX like a synthetized brass or horn (pretty creepy but dope tho) at the very beginning of DREAMCATCHER's Piri and in ATEEZ's Pirate King remix and All to action's Outro. Sorry 4 my English :)
Woah that’s really interesting I didn’t know that! Yeha I got the GOT vibes from the videos, very epic haha yeah that’s true with ATEEZ!! I haven’t watched much of their stuff but the one song I did was on a ship haha
@@AZODi Hahaha yup! U should do it, u won't complain. I honestly recommend u 2 listen all their discography when u can and I would highlight Hala Hala, Pirate Ming, Treasure, Wonderland, Win, Answer and Horizont with choreography and Desire, Dazzling light, Mist, Precious, Better, Wonderland remix as b-sides. Also all their Intros and Outros since they are literally (from what I know haha) orchestras inspired by pirate melodies and English cinematography. Thx u 4 all!

Being Black-Japanese, raised in Japan and in the US, I definitely think of many of Dreamcatcher's pieces to be very J-Pop related. They are certainly unique, however. They're great. Thank you for your reactions (as always)!
Try listening to Over The Sky, that sounds so much like anime opening song I forgot I was listening to Dreamcatcher at times when that played on my Playlist.

dc is consistently amazing basically every song in their album dystopia is great the technical analysis really adds to the experience (especially the part about guitar technique) your comment about 'swing' influence to their metal sound explains why they include eclectic songs like 'jazz bar'
Thanks! Yeah potentially, I’ll need to check it out! A lot of korean and Japanese pop roots stem from jazz, definitely when it comes to certain chords! That may be why they have a song called jazz bar! I appreciate the insights!!
Awesome video as always, I would REALLY recommend Silent Night by them. It's a b-side and not exactly their style but it's really cool production-wise in my opinion.
From what I learned from other musicians, regarding the Jpop qualities you were talking about: Jpop/rock often mixes minor (or just sad) melodies, with an upbeat tempo, which gives it this interesting conflict of emotions, that depicts a sort of drama feeling. Hope this clears up, what you were mentioning, for the people interested.
yeah! its the art form of wabi-sabi in my opinion! the balance between hope and melancholy, there is more beauty in something that isnt quite perfect, but almost! if u look at it musically, try not to finish cadences, don't resolve anything with the I and V etc its a really cool of writing music!
6:30 it's a VIm to V chord I think. feels similar to the end of the chord progression sequence of linkin park's In The End That or a III to II in minor. depending on paralel key stuff it can be either. I can't be bothered to double check it by transcribing the song. but on surface level it feels like that to me.
AZODi Mamamoo...have ridiculous vocals...my bias is Hwasa. EXID...loved for forever...my bias is Solji. Cried when she came back on the masked singer and won 5 weeks in a row. She is also the original winner of the show. Fantastic singer.

Nordic Audio great man!! It’s been really fun, a lot of work but it’s great hanging out with some really skilled interesting people from all over the world!
Me being mainly a J-pop/rock/idol fan might be what has me drawn to Dreamcatcher in the first place. By now they are one of my favorite K-pop groups. I also like metal and hard rock a lot so that definitely played into it. :)
Thanks for the wonderful reaction and explanations. And tbh it's the first time I really saw someone with piercing and it looked so cute on them (you).

AZODi they haven’t been doing well domestically,, there was also a scandal last year where they was snubbed for a music show win on purpose. The higher ups in kpop don’t seem to like them or their concept very much,, probably due to their breaking of the traditional kpop mould. they are considered a success internationally,, but it’s difficult to gain a substantial consumer base in Korea without the “stamp of approval” by the industry through those weekly music shows: the show, music bank, music core etc
Would you consider reacting to SoRi’s I Am Not Alone? It was produced a collab between a rather small K-Pop Soloist and self made producer Folded Dragons, I think it’s quite interesting paired with a beautiful choreography
If you'd like to know some more recent new releases, you could check out Hands Up by Cherry Bullet, Cool by BVNDIT, Eclipse by Moonbyul of Mamamoo, Red Moon by KARD, and Nun Nu Nan Na by Cignature. They're all really great songs with different sounds! By the way, REALLY suggest you listen to Dreamcatcher's album for this song, even if you do it on your own time, it's literally amazing, each song has a different kind of genre pretty much.
A couple of comments for people who want more info: The guitars in Scream probably aren't detuned - the song's in Em, and the guitars don't go lower than E2. It feels like it because I think they have a distorted picked bass underneath on the verses. The Japanese-only Dreamcatcher releases actually go even harder, much more metal IMO. The chord progression he talks about before the last prechorus/end of the bridge is iv VI V. And I THINK the sound used in the chorus that's hard to nail down (the third up on the riff) might be chopped spiccato strings with a heavy OTT. Just my guess though.
please listen to nun nu nan na by cignature! their concept is really interesting and the contrast between instrumental and vocals is really cool yet fitting
One thing I find best with this MV is that the messaging is more on the nose than the Nightmare MV's. Not being able to read Hangul or speak Korean, many of the nuances of the story in Nightmare were lossed on me. Even from the first drop of this video, though, I knew what it was about, despite all the CC's came out as "do woo woo woooo" LOL Thanks for the reaction. I always love to hear the technical side that also includes the emotional. :)
if I am not wrong... the producers that work with dreamcatcher also work with ateez??? I've read an article where Eden tells he got together with different producers to get the sound for ateez? and there was at least one of them that work with dreamcatcher???
Just binged a bunch of your analysis videos. Love your knowledge and enthusiasm and I learned quite a bit. You should check out G(I)-DLE's new song Lion. It was composed and co-produced by Soyeon, the group's rapper. She's had a hand in pretty much all of their music and production. I find her style fascinating and would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks veil I appreciate it!! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊😊 yeah you are right, I def need to do some of them! I’ll get around to doing them soon!! I know Lion, very cool song!! Thanks again!
I cant believe you didn't react to gfriend's new title track. Dream catcher and gfriend are literally sisters who each represents the sun and moon. And last but not least thank you for your reaction to area catcher. I love them soo much.
I think in some respects this is the most metal(y) of their promoted tracks. Sure their past stuff has a more "traditional" rock sound, but the EDM chorus part sounds like it could've come straight from The Browning. Too me this "new" sound is comparable to them, Fail Emotions, newer Veil of Maya; or I See Stars, at the very least.

Raven Hutt yeah for sure, I got the vibe it was less intense regarding the tempo, still heavy guitars but more pop synths / presets used in the mix!

There's an instrumental only version that producers would love as it's easier to dissect the sounds and analyze the mixing done :)

Thanks so much johawk!! I appreciate it!!
AZODi cheers mate! :D
all i gotta say is: they better be getting thier first win soon,, this insomnia is getting mad
have they not been doing so well then? it seems like they are winning to me!
Thanks al, I’ve never heard of SoRi!! Sounds interesting I should check it out!
By the way, REALLY suggest you listen to Dreamcatcher's album for this song, even if you do it on your own time, it's literally amazing, each song has a different kind of genre pretty much.
thanks for the tips skyline!! ive heard a few of those but i can check out the rest for sure!
You get in a fight? lol Also, I appreacite the fullscreen cuts.
kick boxing training yeah haha thanks i appreciate it!!

MisterTracks thanks mister!!

Straight into my female kpop top 10!
oh yeeeeeeeeeeee!!
A couple of comments for people who want more info:
The guitars in Scream probably aren't detuned - the song's in Em, and the guitars don't go lower than E2.
Cool thanks key!!
I love your reaction videos! You are so professional, please do a reaction video of Dejavu which is also from Dreamcatcher, greetings from Perú.
Please, react to Endless Night. The instruments and their voiced are out of this World.
Thanks daniel ill check it out!
interesting to read hugo, thanks for sharing! glad you enjoyed the video :)
I joke with my friends that Dreamcatcher basically does anime music
haha yeah i agree! so much J-Rock / Pop vibe to them!
if I am not wrong... the producers that work with dreamcatcher also work with ateez??? I've read an article where Eden tells he got together with different producers to get the sound for ateez? and there was at least one of them that work with dreamcatcher???
thats cool! i had no idea! they sound pretty different right?
Thanks for your reaction. Please react to Queen by 3YE it's well worth listening to
Thanks me!!
\o/ dreamcatcher \o/
Love the accent, dude!
thanks vette! had it since i can remember :P haha
Can you react to Stray Kids? They also experiment a lot with genres and as far as I know, they're self-produced
yeah i have a few videos of theirs! check them out in the playlist :)
PLEASE react to DUN DUN by EVERGLOW
This is the least heavy title song by Dreamcatcher. Try Endless Night if you want something heavy
I cant believe you didn't react to gfriend's new title track. Dream catcher and gfriend are literally sisters who each represents the sun and moon.
And last but not least thank you for your reaction to area catcher. I love them soo much.
Mutinta Munyungano thanks mutinta! Yeah I agree and need to do some gfriend on this channel!
Please react to their song Dejavu
That was the first song I heard of theirs, very cool!
Ah that’s interesting! I guess you would only know that if you listen to their whole albums right?
@@AZODi maybe...? haha.
React to dreamcatcher dejavu..😍
Great song!!!
How i didn't get the notification °=°
Shin Sara 💔 come on UA-cam!!
Please see Dr. Bebe by Pentagon
That is a great song!!
Please react to the boyz reveal! I think you'll like it
Thanks jaro, I know it well! I’ve written a few songs with the writers of the song!! It’s great!!
Would you do reviews of Jpop, too?
Maybe! It did get voted by my subscribers and it came out 50/50 so didn’t seem super popular with them!
