DISCLAIMER - ALOT of pausing and talking. How fitting, my longest video to date and it's Dreamcatcher, who has quickly become one of my favorite groups I discovered this year (Regardless of genres). Enjoy the reaction, hope all the pausing wasn't too annoying!
The breakdown part is exactly the thing we, insomnia, are comming for (and off course seeing you enjoy this amazing group), great reaction! Already looking forward to your insights on Odd Eye, the last part of the dystopia trioligy.
The song's another deep meaning is about the school ragging and those things The first 2 times "Devil Eyes Come" means that she is going to face the devil, but the last "Devil Eyes Come" means that she is telling the DEVIL to come inside her. This can be interpreted by the previous line of "Devil Eyes Come", the previous line for 1st 2 times is "Please I don't want to Scream", but for last time it is "I just wanna make you Scream" and also the last "Devil Eyes Come" is AUTOTUNED to show that she is now going to kickback.
Your interpretations and analysis of these songs are on another level man. Definitely one of the top reactors on here. You deserve so much more recognition!
Dreamcatcher doesn't tolerate bullying in real life either. Someone insulted Gahyeon during a livestream and without missing a beat Siyeon said "Just because you have a hole beneath your nose doesn't mean it's a mouth.". 😂👀
Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.
I literally stan Dreamcatcher and had no clue about any of this, so thanks for the info, definitely adds even more depth to their already amazing music.
It's always so striking when someone who's in their field starts explaining things that the average layman might never even think of, making the knowledge they've built up accessible to the masses. Came here for Dreamcatcher and stayed for the analysis
PLEASE... NEVER stop pausing... I'm begging you. I love your deep dives and insight! It makes me appreciate Dreamcatcher on a whole new level I've never known before 🥰
I'm so glad, and the disclaimer was more for those who might have expected a quick reaction rather than an analysis, I just wanted to make sure they knew this video might not be for them :) Thank you!
Just like the last time you caught SO much and it’s fascinating to hear your interpretations! So, the original meaning of the devil horn gesture they do was to ward off evil. So I think that those lines-devil eyes come, I open my eyes-can also be interpreted as them kind of trying to remain clearheaded and keep believing in goodness even when all that’s coming at them is hate. And that fits with JiU’s line in the beginning that her eyes are covered and stained with blood: she’s seen too much pain and death in the world and can’t see the hope anymore. The shift to “I just wanna make you scream” I think also has a double meaning. It’s about their MV characters deciding to kind of become warriors and actively fight the haters, but I also think it’s about them being idols. Their job is to make people scream and cheer for them at concerts. So I think they’re saying “all idols want is to make their fans happy, why do they get so much hate for that?” I also love that you picked up on Gahyeon (the girl who broke the purple crystal) possibly being an antagonist in the story, because it’s something I think as well. You’re going to love finishing up this trilogy with Odd Eye, and whenever you jump into the Nightmare series. Dreamcatcher’s MVs are always SO story based and there are so many cool theories about them.
Thank you! I'm definitely excited about Odd Eye, and I appreciate your insight, I definitely agree on the double meaning especially the first one (seen too much pain and death in regards to the "covered eyes stained with blood"). Thanks again!
While SuA has the sword, she is talking about words being like swords. The one she is holding/ dragging around is notably a double-edged sword. That kind of sword must be wielded differently than a razor or single-edged blade, with more care. I am pretty sure the meaning is that you can also hurt yourself by speaking if you don't know what you are talking about. Say the wrong thing to the wrong person at the wrong time (or even just getting one of these things wrong) and you are in trouble of your own making.
Gosh you're really the only one who spoke about the difference of the last chorus, like this 'I just wanna make you scream" is actually gives me chills almost everytime, it's such a vibe and it's definitely what I wish for the haters.
12:58 during this part (Siyeon's bridge) during their live performances as part of the choreography, Siyeon makes the devil horns in her hand but then "flicks" the horns away, as if she's purging the devil that has tried to influence/attack her... which leads to your analysis of fighting fire with fire, "now it's my turn to make you scream". great commentary!
More Dreamcatcher reactions are always great. Due to their uniqueness, they are one of my top three K-Pop groups. Though you didn't comment on it, you might have noticed one person in a mask the entire time. The woman in the mask is a stand-in for Handong, the 7th member. A bit before this song came out, she went home to China to compete in a competition show. I believe she was still competing at this point. By the time Boca came around, she was stuck there due to COVID protocols. She did eventually make it back to Korea. It was interesting how masks were used for both dealing the story and keeping their final member's presence still felt.
I noticed the masked figure but had no idea that it was more than just furthering the story, that's really cool thank you for sharing this information!
I think you're right; Youth With You would have finished by the time Boca came out in August. Unfortunately, as well as the COVID situation, apparently her visa ran out while she was in China, and being from Hubei Province (specifically Wuhan - yes, _that_ Wuhan) meant there was a lot more red tape involved in getting her visa renewed. It had probably been sorted by Boca, but South Korea was still restricting entrance from China for a while after. She finally returned as soon as she was able at the end of September 2020, and re-joined the girls after quarantine in the middle of October, pretty much a full year after she'd left. She didn't hang about while she was stuck in China, though. She actually learned her choreo for Scream by watching the masked dancer in the Scream video, and she also recorded her redistributed parts, and learned choreo for the other songs she missed so she could take part in their Seven Spirits concert. In addition, she had a cameo in ONER's _epic_ Struck/Evil Wave short film (which is kind of an album teaser; Dongie's part is about 2:30 out of a 15 minute video, in the Hacker segment, but it's well worth watching the whole thing: ua-cam.com/video/UNeQSE8tpj0/v-deo.html _And_ she wrote and recorded her _debut solo single,_ First Light of Dawn, released exclusively in China: ua-cam.com/video/dHV3x-c6dzA/v-deo.html
The horn gesture is actually an italian gesture against the evil eye (malocchio). The evil eye is a superstitious belief in curse believed to be casted by a malevolent glare. The sign of the horns is a gesture to defend against the evil eye and here in Italy it's still very used. The horn sign is more known in every country as the rock music sign and the devil horns, but actually Dio (the singer of Black Sabbath) said he took this gesture from his italian grandma.
Okay, yeah, I'm usually annoyed by too much pausing but MY DUDE your commentary is SO worth it!!! As a fellow video editor/photographer, your understanding and interpretation of visuals, lyrics and the deeper connection between both is so mesmerizing and utterly inspirational. There's things that you catch that I agree with and things that I hadn't thought before! I found your channel through your breakdown of BOCA and it's obvious how much work you put in each video you produce. Thank you for the reaction and the analysis! And thank you as well for sharing your experiences that help you relate somewhat to the song. 💜🐯
Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it! BOCA blew me away, my only regret is taking almost 2 months before I went back to DC, hopefully the next video won't take this long haha! Again, I appreciate the kind words!
This, when other react channels pause it’s mostly to just read a lyrics, say something that might not even have anything to do with the video and to then go on. They don’t really analyse or add anything that makes you think more about the video or song. This man does, he is very actively watching and reacting to the video and lyrics and does it so respectfully.
@@amelievandecasteele4998 Indeed! And I appreciate pauses for like "Oh that beat drop was everything" or "that visual was fire" but pausing just for the sake of pausing is rather exhausting sometimes. Makes me appreciate this type of reactions even more 🐯
Thank you, it's definitely a lot of fun reacting to DC but at the same time the Scream and Boca reactions have been some of the toughest reactions I recorded yet, Scream is probably the toughest lol, but a lot of fun nonetheless!
DREAMCATCHER SCREAM Welcome to Dystopia The world we see being depicted in “Scream” is a setting unlike anything we’ve seen thus far in Dreamcatcher’s music videos. While some videos had a few fantasy elements, notably “Deja Vu”, they primarily focused on horror/thriller themes and imagery (ghosts, curses, witchcraft, etc.)But “Scream” has much heavier emphasis on the fantasy elements; specifically, dark fantasy, since it still contains the darker, horror concept that has been consistent with the group. In the “Nightmare” series, although the girls are seen performing rituals and apparently dabbling in witchcraft, they were never actually called witches. They were “Nightmares”, girls who were cursed by a strange dark force, some of them corrupted or possessed by this entity, to be trapped in a never-ending dream. But in “Scream”, there is no doubt they are now a real circle of witches. We see the girls not only wearing matching robes that you’d see a coven of witches wear (and we’ve seen them wear before in “Good Night” and “Fly High”), but Siyeon and Yoohyeon actually release magic from within them.JiU in particular seems to have a strong connection to the titular “tree of language” that appears throughout the video, several scenes of her shown in a temple that might represent the inside of the tree itself.Considering JiU is the leader of Dreamcatcher in real life, perhaps she is the guardian of the tree, and gathered allies to help her protect it, thus forming Dreamcatcher. We see two girls on opposite sides of the tree. A girl with white hair, who we shall discuss the identity of in a bit, and a girl with dark hair, who I believe is JiU. In any case, the tree is clearly an important part of their world, and may likely be the source of the girls’ powers. But more than that, the tree is also connected to the power of words and language. JiU actually said during their rooftop VLIVE: “When people say good things, the tree bears white fruit, but when they say bad things, it bears black fruit.” Perhaps this tree actually holds ancient archives of every event in history, or that it holds a great influence over everyone and its presence is what keeps peace and balance in the world. And JiU, as the guardian spirit of the tree, helps it bear fruit of good, virtue, and light, and protect the balance with the fruit born of evil, negativity, pain, and darkness. The very first thing we are given at the start of the music video is this…“One day suddenly the light did not come, People forgot how to say good things.” This means something catastrophic happened that influenced the power of the tree of language, disrupted the balance, and thus changed everything in their world. People began to spread words of hatred to those around them, because something had corrupted the tree. The world which was once a “utopia” became a “dystopia”, and chaos and war erupted everywhere. And I think it was Gahyeon who did this, but why and how? Pandora’s box opened When they released the album story spoiler teaser, we were given a glimpse of the story that “Dystopia” is telling us.We get these shots of JiU and Yoohyeon in the snow (which is often used to symbolize death), as well as shots later on of SuA in a black dress and umbrella. This shows all the members are in mourning over the little girl’s death. However, I think Gahyeon takes the girl’s death the hardest. She doesn’t want to accept the fact that she’s gone; she wants to bring her back. This leaves her vulnerable to the spirit of evil’s influence, as it lures her into the tree of language.JiU can sense that something sinister has awakened, and hurries to try and stop Gahyeon, but as we see later, she didn’t make it in time. When Gahyeon reaches the center of the tree, she finds a glowing crystal with strange symbols and a purple mist surrounding it. I think this represents the heart of the tree and source of its power. Perhaps, under the influence of the spirit of evil, Gahyeon believed she could use the power of the crystal to change the events of the past and bring the girl back from the dead. But that’s an impossible wish, one that could never be granted. And the moment Gahyeon touches it, it shatters and that’s when everything starts to go awry. The inside of the temple represents the inside of the tree turns red, meaning it’s now starting to become corrupted by the spirit’s influence. The purple flames that surrounded JiU (which represent the tree’s power) are red as well.Strange red markings start covering the walls. And a red burst of magic energy is unleashed from the tree. (Even the leaves turn blood red). This is even reflected in the dance shots, as we see the girls dancing in a room lit up in red light, and choreography itself, as in the second chorus, Gahyeon stands at the center while everyone circles her and points at her. JiU is trapped in the tree of language, Dami feels betrayed by her friends suddenly turning against her, while SuA goes to fight in the war.Gahyeon feels immense guilt for what happened. Meanwhile, Handong goes missing (evident by her mask being left on the ground). However, not all hope is lost. Siyeon and Yoohyeon both feel deep down that their memories must be wrong, so they each go searching for answers on their own. Siyeon searching through the thick fog is symbolic of her searching through her own memories, trying to find out what really happened, while Yoohyeon just wants t reunite with her friends.
I already know the meaning of the song. But my guy just made the song even more sad with his interpretations 🤯🤘 And this is actually what I love with dreamcatcher. Besides how good their music was, the meaning of the songs was not something to be disregarded
dreamcatcher \:D/ the tree is actually symbolizing the internet. you can see words on its inner walls and its roots are portals. yeah it's abstract but becomes more clear in odd eye where you see it actually hooked up to fiber optic cables. the gem you were talking about is it's seed which was tainted by hate and poisoned one of the members. the general plot is that the members are guardians of the 'tree of language' and have to restore the tree to save one of their members, presumably handong since she was missing in both scream/boca due to a real life travel restrictions last year which delayed her return to korea. it's best to usually separate the video imagery from the lyrics because the mv is telling a story while the lyrics are conveying a theme.
The way you analyze and explain every part of the song and MV, it gives me goosebumps. I love that you were able to see the progression in the lyrics, starting from them being the attacked, to them being the ones attacking, and not just by noticing the change of the lyrics from "please I don't want to scream" to "I just wanna make you scream", but by actually following each and every lyric, not skipping a single word. I can't wait for you to react to more of their other stuffs, 'cause they really have lots of great bangers, and amazing concepts. Odd Eye (part 3 of Dystopia Trilogy), Deja Vu (story of betrayal), BEcause (love that grows into obsession), The Nightmare series (their story as nightmares/dark entities), really great stuffs waiting for you man. 😊
Man you need to react to their MVs when they come out, you will save me a lot of time of reading theories from other people and it will be more interesting watching you :D Great reaction :D
I have seen many reactions and none like this, you are great. The analysis has been incredible, it is also appreciated that someone pays so much attention to the lyrics. This group usually has very deep lyrics and especially the subject they are dealing with. And finally someone notices in a reaction to the change of lyrics in the chorus at the end (i just wanna make u scream). It seems to me the most important of all, Don't give up and give in to bullies. You are incredible, i waiting for nore videos! Greetings from Spain!
I always had the feeling that the bridge and lead up to the final chorus was about those who spread hate 'erasing' their tracks. Delete their comments, use different names, etc. after someone has made a choice to fight back (be it ending their life, be it completely emotionally shut down - where they can't get their 'fix' of power bc their victim doesn't react the way they want anymore, or be it fighting fire with fire) where they can pretend that they had done nothing, that they are the ones being bullied, and all of that nonsense. For Gahyeon's rap part, I personally think that she recognized what and who these people that spread hatred are - freaks behind a mask. The internet can make anyone and everyone anonymous and there are those who will take advantage of that. They put on their 'mask' and suddenly do what they want and without consequences (or so they think). The final part of the trilogy is Odd Eye that finishes up the 'hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil' motto that goes through the entire Dystopia series with the themes of 'past present future' for Scream, Boca, and Odd Eye. Damn I love your analysis and breakdown! (Also in Odd Eye we get Dongie back!)
i dont know if i love how soothing your voice is more or how careful you are with every detail in the music video and lyrics im literally going to have to pay rent for living in this video
Omg I'm so happy you're reacting to Dreamcatcher! They are really amazing and they are my favourite band of all time. Thank you so much for spreading love for them ❤️ I love your reactions and I hope you're well and wish you the best because you deserve it ❤️
I, again, love your reaction. Done with so much thought and so much respect. And that really shows in how you analyse a part of lyric, make a prediction and then that prediction is right. I don’t know though if anyone has commented for you to read what the trilogy is about and since I both wanna wrote it down and wanna inform you of it because I think you are a person that might appreciate it, I’m gonna post it. (Other insomnia please correct me if I’m wrong on anything) This trilogy has the basic premise of “Hear no evil, Speak no evil, See no evil” Scream is “Hear, and adapted to the internet-age, Read no evil” flowing into “Speak no evil”. The “Hear/read” is the girls singing about how hearing or reading “evil” or hate can affect a person. How people can make you scream in pain. This flows over into “speak no evil” in the last chorus where the person has had enough of their suffering, so they themselves start to speak evil. (Also fun fact, since you liked the “scream” before the chorus. That was Ollounder’s, one of their producers, scream edited. [Sourced from one of Dreamcatcher’s Vlive’s]) BOCA of course is “Speak no evil”. Where they talk about how they will shut up the haters, how speaking evil can affect someone and asking what the point of it is. This is especially clear in the bridge with (translated) lyrics like: “Why do you fill your precious time with this hate? To many angels dying now. I’m gonna change your mind.” Then lastly Odd Eye is about “See no evil” or tolerate no evil. (If you do not wanna continue reading because you first want to make your own interpretation that’s fine. Just scroll further, if you want to. I’ll mark the end of the explanation of Odd Eye with a ✨) Odd Eye, in it’s lyrics, talks about how everything was pretty and nice, but now that they have opened their eyes they see that the beauty was a cover-up. That everything they ever saw was a lie to cover despair and sadness. The veil has been lifted and can not be brought down again, they have started seeing the evil they used to tolerate for what it really is. And in seeing so, they found that there is no more hope, that there is no more Utopia. Which brings us into the title of this trilogy, and the opposite of Utopia, Dystopia. ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ Giving you some space so you don’t accidentally read anything from the Odd Eye explanation if you didn’t want to. I see you have taken a liking to Dami, welcome to the Dami-bais club. Always nice to have a new member. I, of course, suggest you check out more of Dreamcatcher. But if you want to, I can also suggest you check out ATEEZ. The writing team that writes the majority of Dreamcatcher’s song, LEEZ and Ollounder, are part of a production team called Edenary, which also writes a majority of ATEEZ’s songs. Personally I recommend Answer, Inception and Say My Name highly, since they are 3 of my favourite title tracks. For b-sides I also recommend Utopia and Take me home, but those don’t have a music video. Edit: Spelling
An often missed small detail is how all three of the Dystopia releases have their own place in time and do some metaphors with that. Issues of those times that were born of misguided rage and that affect(ed) mostly women. For Scream, since it has more of a medieval aesthetic, they make references to the burning of witches, both visually and in the pre chorus lyrics. For Boca, in the contemporary period, we have catcalling and chasing For Odd Eye... You'll see, haha.
your dreamcatcher analyses are PERFECT and SO insightful! you really do justice to the message of the trilogy and dreamcatcher as a whole. some might be bothered by all the pausing but I can tell you are enjoying the music just as much as you are putting effort into analyzing
I definitely wouldn't want to react to this song any other way, I'm fine with people not liking these types of reactions but thankfully there's many other reactors so it's not that hard to find a good fit for anyone. I appreciate your comment and I'm glad you liked the video, thank you! 🙏
I love when u react to Dreamcatcher man! They are my favorite group and what brought me to your chanel! Your interpretations are on point and Im so gratefull for more people enjoying those queens! Thank u!!
I smiled when you said "There she is!", and swooned over Dami. "Scream" was my first exposure to DC, and the instant I heard Dami's voice, I completely fell in love with it.
The thing I like about this song is that they don't just say that they are above the haters like many other songs seem to (not that theres anything wrong with that either). Instead this song shows more of the process. Starting with showing the negative affects cyber-bullying (or bullying in general) can have on people and then taking us through their process of fighting back and coming out on top. It shows that it's not an easy thing to overcome and you really do need to fight and that even when things seem to be at their darkest there's still a way out
I know that this is abot Dreamcatcher and their fantastic song, but, when I got into Kpop and realized the hate that was so prevalent, I also realized that Korea and Kpop are insular communities and there's no place to escape. This seems borne out by Blackpink. After they had their world tour, and went around the world, playing to sold out stadiums of fans screaming for them, I haven't seen any responses from them that show that they pay the haters any mind - except for when Lisa was accused of cultural appropriation. It seems like, if you're only frame of reference is just one community - or country - then it can seem hopeless. It might be beneficial if these groups could do some concerts outside of their normal haunts and get a fresh perspective on all of these criticisms. Sorry for the rant, but, like you, I can't stand negative people. They're causing actual harm just so that they can temporarily feel better about themselves and that is ridiculously selfish. Great react.
the hand gesture could be the "devil horns" that dio made famous when he took an italian hand gesture and transformed it into it... or and i am more on this interpretation,. its the original meaning... the gesture for "warding of the evil eye" which would fit better in my opinion regarding the crystal.. i am pretty sure that theban script,..in the crystal, but i dont know the translation i remember reading somewhere that it was something along the lines of "hate" .... but that could be just me
I hope you will react to "Odd Eye" which is the last one of this trilogy. Then there is their newer one called "BEcause" which talks about loving someone but your obsessed. (Which I think it is about)
Man, your analysis is very good, Bravo ! love it so much ! in Scream : you can see the past, medieval style, antic building, witch hunting et magic stuff, the TREE is surrounded by the wild nature in Boca : you can see the present time, urban style, big city alley, girls are hunt by dangerous unknow people and the TREE is in a garden in Odd Eye : you will see the future ... ;-) I think that mean the bullying words exist in alltime :-(
Nice reaction. Dreamcatcher is my top favorite K-pop group ! When I went to see Dreamcatcher's New York concert 3 years ago, I was amazed at their great vocal and dance skills, and I, my friends and all the audience were enthusiastic about the three-hour performance. It gave me goosebumps and admiration to see them dance and sing brilliantly at the same time. The concert fever still makes my heart flutter. As always, Dreamcatcher is Dreamcatcher. I think you must check their B sides. You must be shocked. 😉 Many thanks. From N.Y.
This song is my favorite k-pop song ever, because I love rock, metal and k-pop and here I got everything beautifully expressed... that hard drop in the chorus, you can't just stay still it makes you wanna move. I keep listening to this song on a daily basis 🔥 thank you again for the breakdown, your analysis are amazing as always ⭐
Watching your reactions actually make me go back and listen to these songs with more appreciation. Really love these breakdowns cuz Lord knows I don't have the brain power, but the way that you were so right with the end part (the "I just wanna make you scream") was really cool.
I love your reactions they are fantastic good luck Dreamcatcher has a lot of songs pointing to society's mistakes and they are all amazing Listen to piri _odd eye_because_deja vu too
Really really loving the reactions, the way you break things down and talk through things. This just feels like a safe space to me. I look forward to future reactions from you! I do hope you can react to MAMAMOO killing voice one day. It's all live vocals.
Great reaction! Two songs and you are hooked! Welcome to the club!! Dream Catcher is one of my favorite girl groups. If you want a fun video check out their song SAHARA. I think they shot it themselves. Looks like they just uses a smart phone and made a music video. Fun and goofy.. You can tell they are having a lot of fun. Also, the song is awesome! By the way, how are you feeling? Hope the recovery from your surgery is going well. Take care man!
Awesome breakdown as always. And you’re eloquent too. Well done mate 👍🏻 You might want to check their short Story Spoiler video for this song, ua-cam.com/video/41oftK_91PI/v-deo.html for some extra context for the story. The tree is actually is the Tree of Language (Which is the name of the album by the way, and a masterpiece. No single bad song there). In the tree, there’s a little child/lady, supposedly the guardian of the crystal you saw in this MV. The crystal was guarding the language of the world, and over time seems to be corrupted by all the bad & hate language around, in turned corrupting the little lady as well turning her into older looking witch. In the Scream MV, you may notice one cloaked figure, presumably the little lady that’s always there with the tree. And here come the ladies of Dreamcatcher into the story, where they trying to restore things out. They sent one of them (Gahyeon) inside the tree to get to the crystal (the scene where she tried to grab the crystal) but the crystal just exploded, probably cause it’s beyong saving already. So now they’re taking matters into their own hand , just like you explained where the lyrics changed from Please i don’t want to scream to I just wanna make you scream. Mannn exploring and trying to understand the story behind any DC MV is just so fun. That’s why they’re my ultimate group 🤯 Sorry for this essay btw
Seriously dude. I couldn’t understand their songs this deep at all. Your explanations were smooth like buttah and calming to hear. It was actually soothing lol
The tree in the trilogy is actually called "The Tree of Language" because this trilogy mainly focuses on criticisms about online hate or cyber bullying in general. I could go on and on about how amazing this trilogy is but here's a bit of something that I really like to say about this Scream = Hear No Evil Boca = Say No Evil Odd Eye = See No Evil
Hey DG, I wanna thank you for exposing me to these girls. I'm definitely a Blink (My bias is CheaLisa JenSoo... lol I love them all), but Dreamcatcher had never been suggested to me, and these girls are fire! So thanks for that and the excellent analysis. :)
I love your reactions! You are so good at understanding the meaning of things, both in lyrics and in the MV's, even at your first listen. Other Dreamcatcher MV's you should check out are Odd Eye (the third part of the "Dystopia" trilogy against haters) and Deja Vu ( my personal favorite, I would love to see your analysis of this one)
I really enjoy your reactions & interpretations! I'm glad you've continued your Dreamcatcher journey. They are truly top tier. You're going to love "Odd Eye," the conclusion of this series. Whether you go forward with "BEcause" or back to their Nightmare series, Dreamcatcher does not disappoint. ALSO. I think you would really enjoy two other groups that have delved into horror/fantasy concepts & a different sound than typical Kpop, PIXY & Purple Kiss. They get compared to Dreamcatcher (usually positively) but truly have their own unique sound & story. You might also really enjoy (G)I-DLE who sonically jump around with wildly different musical inspirations, but always bring a unique spin all their own while also incorporating beautiful, detailed, & thought-provoking music videos. Regardless, I definitely look forward to any & all of your videos!
I think the part where siyeon comes in with the white veil on her face ( towards the end ) saying stuff like when everybody is gone and forgot the rest, i think ( could be wrong ) that in that moment she is dead. Open my eyes everyone is gone , then yooyheon says dont cry / be sad for me no more ( implying that she isnt in pain anymore ) and then Dami comes in saying basically " yeah you bunch of trolls just go on about your day like nothing happened until everyone goes crazy ( probably meaning until your next victim ) then they switch to i want to make you scream which is directly meant for the haters/trolls/bullies saying we wish we could make you feel this pain.
Some other recommendations from dreamcatcher: BEcause: a little more sinister deja vu: visually stunning, a little more sad black or white: a little more laid back piri: some of their earlier work if you ever feel like checking out more from them :)
I'd like to recommand dreamcatcher [Endless night] this is kind of Rock music.
The song's another deep meaning is about the school ragging and those things
The first 2 times "Devil Eyes Come" means that she is going to face the devil, but the last "Devil Eyes Come" means that she is telling the DEVIL to come inside her.
Please react to girl group Stacy 'asap'
Your interpretations and analysis of these songs are on another level man. Definitely one of the top reactors on here. You deserve so much more recognition!
You're too kind, thank you so much!!! 🙏
@@DGReacts yeah your interpretations and analysis is so good! 👍👍 Impressive.
Dreamcatcher doesn't tolerate bullying in real life either. Someone insulted Gahyeon during a livestream and without missing a beat Siyeon said "Just because you have a hole beneath your nose doesn't mean it's a mouth.". 😂👀
Hahaha that's a good one!
oh please i wanna see it so bad
That's wonderful, I'm glad you enjoyed the analysis!! Thank you!! 🙏
14:21 was so satisfying wasn't it? You were on point the whole time and got rewarded. Love the reactions man.
Thank you so much, I was so happy haha, such a cool feeling!
So I think they’re saying “all idols want is to make their fans happy, why do they get so much hate for that?”
I also love that you picked up on Gahyeon (the girl who broke the purple crystal) possibly being an antagonist in the story, because it’s something I think as well.
My theory this is why Gahyeon has pink hair in BOCA 😅 since the crystal basically exploded in her face
Their choreo is tight! Really like this reaction - they've such deep lyrics and visuals.
Indeed, the choreography was 🔥And Thank you!
Oh that's awesome, thanks for letting me know!!
In addition, she had a cameo in ONER's _epic_ Struck/Evil Wave short film (which is kind of an album teaser; Dongie's part is about 2:30 out of a 15 minute video, in the Hacker segment, but it's well worth watching the whole thing: ua-cam.com/video/UNeQSE8tpj0/v-deo.html
_And_ she wrote and recorded her _debut solo single,_ First Light of Dawn, released exclusively in China: ua-cam.com/video/dHV3x-c6dzA/v-deo.html
The Dystopia trilogy also references the "three evils". See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Boca is speak, Scream is hear, Odd Eye is see.
👍🏽
@@DGReacts Hopefully not as long 😹 but if it's this high quality, you take your time! Appreciate ya! 🐯
@@amelievandecasteele4998 Indeed! And I appreciate pauses for like "Oh that beat drop was everything" or "that visual was fire" but pausing just for the sake of pausing is rather exhausting sometimes. Makes me appreciate this type of reactions even more 🐯
"I wanna hear Dami's voice once more"
Bruh, I'm sure we all think the same everytime we hear some Dreamcatcher's song 🤌🏼🛐✨
Good job. It's really refreshing to see a reactor understand Dreamcatcher MV's so quickly because most do not.
Thank you, it's definitely a lot of fun reacting to DC but at the same time the Scream and Boca reactions have been some of the toughest reactions I recorded yet, Scream is probably the toughest lol, but a lot of fun nonetheless!
That was really deep, man... Loved it... I think you were the one of the first to really get the message DC is trying to convey... Well done!!
I appreciate that, thank you!! 🙏
DREAMCATCHER SCREAM
Welcome to Dystopia
The world we see being depicted in “Scream” is a setting unlike anything we’ve seen thus far in Dreamcatcher’s music videos.
The very first thing we are given at the start of the music video is this…“One day suddenly the light did not come,
People forgot how to say good things.”
This means something catastrophic happened that influenced the power of the tree of language, disrupted the balance, and thus changed everything in their world.
But my guy just made the song even more sad with his interpretations 🤯🤘
And this is actually what I love with dreamcatcher. Besides how good their music was, the meaning of the songs was not something to be disregarded
DC likes taking my mind into very dark places haha, thank you!
underrated reaction. One of the best breakdowns
Thank you! 🙏
dreamcatcher \:D/
the tree is actually symbolizing the internet. you can see words on its inner walls and its roots are portals. yeah it's abstract but becomes more clear in odd eye where you see it actually hooked up to fiber optic cables. the gem you were talking about is it's seed which was tainted by hate and poisoned one of the members. the general plot is that the members are guardians of the 'tree of language' and have to restore the tree to save one of their members, presumably handong since she was missing in both scream/boca due to a real life travel restrictions last year which delayed her return to korea. it's best to usually separate the video imagery from the lyrics because the mv is telling a story while the lyrics are conveying a theme.
they are the only kpop group that has made metal songs - No More, Don't Light My Fire, Endless Night
You did awesome! Can’t wait to see more dreamcatcher !
They are so amazing. Truly.
YOU are amazing, thank you!
@@DGReacts Right back atcha man! You reactions are such a breath of fresh air. Thank you for all you do!
Your interpretations are spot on.
Man you need to react to their MVs when they come out, you will save me a lot of time of reading theories from other people and it will be more interesting watching you :D
Great reaction :D
Haha thank you!! 🙏
You are very kind, I really appreciate it!! Thank you!
Great vid man. Great breakdown! DC never disappoints and always has something to say. I hope you're staying healthy.
Thank you!!! I'm trying to stay healthy haha, hope you are doing well too!
Dude, your analysis of DC videos is deep and spot-on. It's awesome!
Thank you so much!! 🙏
Holy shi- your reaction so Amazing.
THANKYOU FOR REACTION!!
Thank YOU for watching, glad you liked it! 🙏
i dont know if i love how soothing your voice is more or how careful you are with every detail in the music video and lyrics im literally going to have to pay rent for living in this video
I'd never say no to some extra money hahaha, thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Omg I'm so happy you're reacting to Dreamcatcher! They are really amazing and they are my favourite band of all time. Thank you so much for spreading love for them ❤️
I love your reactions and I hope you're well and wish you the best because you deserve it ❤️
That really means a lot to me, thank you so much!!
Ugh.. agh.. ugh..
Why i feel like i should lower my volume lol 😂😂
Great interpretation ❤
Thank you for taking the time for the video
WAOOOO! Me has dejado boca abierta. Me hiciste ver cosas que antes no había conseguido por completo. Thanks!!
THE LAST ONE WAS ODD EYE 👁 ayyy thank you for react dreamcatcher!!! Good analysis. good job!!!
YOU NEED TO FINISH THIS TRILOGY WITH ODD EYE PLEASE ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I, again, love your reaction. Done with so much thought and so much respect. And that really shows in how you analyse a part of lyric, make a prediction and then that prediction is right.
I don’t know though if anyone has commented for you to read what the trilogy is about and since I both wanna wrote it down and wanna inform you of it because I think you are a person that might appreciate it, I’m gonna post it. (Other insomnia please correct me if I’m wrong on anything)
This trilogy has the basic premise of “Hear no evil, Speak no evil, See no evil”
Scream is “Hear, and adapted to the internet-age, Read no evil” flowing into “Speak no evil”.
[Sourced from one of Dreamcatcher’s Vlive’s])
BOCA of course is “Speak no evil”. Where they talk about how they will shut up the haters, how speaking evil can affect someone and asking what the point of it is. This is especially clear in the bridge with (translated) lyrics like:
“Why do you fill your precious time with this hate?
To many angels dying now.
I’m gonna change your mind.”
Then lastly Odd Eye is about “See no evil” or tolerate no evil. (If you do not wanna continue reading because you first want to make your own interpretation that’s fine. Just scroll further, if you want to. I’ll mark the end of the explanation of Odd Eye with a ✨)
Odd Eye, in it’s lyrics, talks about how everything was pretty and nice, but now that they have opened their eyes they see that the beauty was a cover-up.

Giving you some space so you don’t accidentally read anything from the Odd Eye explanation if you didn’t want to.
Great reaction to great group
Thank you for reaction to Dreamcatcher
Thank you!! 🙏
Loved your Boca analysis, and now your Scream analysis is also interesting. Hope you'll do more Dreamcatcher reactions and analysis
This breakdown and interpretations makes so much sense! This is what I love watching.
Please react to BEcause! Dami's rap is amazing. And the whole M/V has a beautiful yet creepy/dark vibe that I just LOVE.
I second "BEcause". It doesn't touch on social issues but tells a very real story of dark love. Amazing both musically and lyrically.
For Boca, in the contemporary period, we have catcalling and chasing
For Odd Eye... You'll see, haha.
I'm really happy that bon voyage reaction lead me to your channel. I really love your lyrics attention.
Love your interpretations. Screem is a beautifull song.
More Dreamcatcher reactions!!
your dreamcatcher analyses are PERFECT and SO insightful! you really do justice to the message of the trilogy and dreamcatcher as a whole. some might be bothered by all the pausing but I can tell you are enjoying the music just as much as you are putting effort into analyzing
I definitely wouldn't want to react to this song any other way, I'm fine with people not liking these types of reactions but thankfully there's many other reactors so it's not that hard to find a good fit for anyone. I appreciate your comment and I'm glad you liked the video, thank you! 🙏
Love the explanation you made for the video made even more sense now
Thanks for the Dreamcatcher REACTION!
I love when u react to Dreamcatcher man! They are my favorite group and what brought me to your chanel! Your interpretations are on point and Im so gratefull for more people enjoying those queens! Thank u!!
I'm very grateful that they brought you to this channel, thank you so much! 🙏
O mundo precisa conhecer o Dreamcatcher. Elas são incríveis.
I smiled when you said "There she is!", and swooned over Dami. "Scream" was my first exposure to DC, and the instant I heard Dami's voice, I completely fell in love with it.
Dreamcatcher 🔥
The thing I like about this song is that they don't just say that they are above the haters like many other songs seem to (not that theres anything wrong with that either). Instead this song shows more of the process. Starting with showing the negative affects cyber-bullying (or bullying in general) can have on people and then taking us through their process of fighting back and coming out on top. It shows that it's not an easy thing to overcome and you really do need to fight and that even when things seem to be at their darkest there's still a way out
your interpretation of the mv is incredible you even predicted the following lyrics! i'm just gonna leave a like and a follow
As Gahyeon's lyric went when she called them a ridiculous freak. Goes right along with what you said here. :)
Holy shit best reaction! Youre the man! 💪
best explanation so far
React to endless night! Most metalheads enjoy that song and the fact that you like coldrain too, their drummer played in that song.
Oh damn!! I adore Coldrain, definitely need to add Endless Nights to the list of future reactions!! Thank you!
🤟😁🤟...💯🤩🥰😍Dreamcatcher...🌛🤗🌜🍀🍀👍👍👍
the hand gesture could be the "devil horns" that dio made famous when he took an italian hand gesture and transformed it into it...
or
and i am more on this interpretation,. its the original meaning... the gesture for "warding of the evil eye" which would fit better in my opinion
regarding the crystal.. i am pretty sure that theban script,..in the crystal, but i dont know the translation i remember reading somewhere that it was something along the lines of "hate" .... but that could be just me
Awesome breakdown 👏👏
Thank you!!
I hope you will react to "Odd Eye" which is the last one of this trilogy. Then there is their newer one called "BEcause" which talks about loving someone but your obsessed. (Which I think it is about)
Man, your analysis is very good, Bravo ! love it so much !
in Scream : you can see the past, medieval style, antic building, witch hunting et magic stuff, the TREE is surrounded by the wild nature
in Boca : you can see the present time, urban style, big city alley, girls are hunt by dangerous unknow people and the TREE is in a garden
in Odd Eye : you will see the future ... ;-)
I think that mean the bullying words exist in alltime :-(
Great reaction. You should react to Odd Eye! The last and third part of the Dystopia series.
This dude gets it.
i love your reaction 😍
14:19 yesss haha hahaha
Dreamcatcher
Watching your reactions actually make me go back and listen to these songs with more appreciation. Really love these breakdowns cuz Lord knows I don't have the brain power, but the way that you were so right with the end part (the "I just wanna make you scream") was really cool.
I really appreciate that, thank you so much! The ending got me so excited, honestly, I wanted to get out of my seat and take a sec hehe!
I love your reactions they are fantastic good luck
Dreamcatcher has a lot of songs pointing to society's mistakes and they are all amazing
Listen to piri _odd eye_because_deja vu too
Really really loving the reactions, the way you break things down and talk through things. This just feels like a safe space to me. I look forward to future reactions from you! I do hope you can react to MAMAMOO killing voice one day. It's all live vocals.
I'm so thankful to hear that! And yes MAMAMOO has been on my list for a bit now, I hope to check them out soon!
Your analytics are literally the best. I would love to see what you think of their BEcause song
Thank you so much Rob! And I'm doing okay, it could always be better haha, hope all is well on your side too!
Awesome breakdown as always. And you’re eloquent too. Well done mate 👍🏻
You might want to check their short Story Spoiler video for this song, ua-cam.com/video/41oftK_91PI/v-deo.html for some extra context for the story.
That’s why they’re my ultimate group 🤯
Sorry for this essay btw
I hope you had caught the witches hunting reference. Nice reaction btw.
Thanks so much for your love for the girls! DreamCatcher is amazing!
I love your analysis and commentaries! please do more reactions of dreamcatcher

Thank you so much! actually I watched lot of reaction videos but thanks to you I finally understood lyrics' meaning
Seriously dude. I couldn’t understand their songs this deep at all. Your explanations were smooth like buttah and calming to hear. It was actually soothing lol
That's wonderful to hear, truly! Thank you!
The tree in the trilogy is actually called "The Tree of Language" because this trilogy mainly focuses on criticisms about online hate or cyber bullying in general. I could go on and on about how amazing this trilogy is but here's a bit of something that I really like to say about this
Scream = Hear No Evil
Boca = Say No Evil
Odd Eye = See No Evil
Hey DG, I wanna thank you for exposing me to these girls. I'm definitely a Blink (My bias is CheaLisa JenSoo... lol I love them all), but Dreamcatcher had never been suggested to me, and these girls are fire! So thanks for that and the excellent analysis. :)
I think you did great. And if you missed anything in the video, that's fine, just a great excuse to re-watch it over and over... :)
Absolutely, I've already listened to this song like 10 times after the reaction!
@@DGReacts :)
Usually I dont prefer lots of pausing BUT your pausing is good I like your pausing and talking your analysis is veryveryveryvery interesting
Woah, you make me understood this song even more and i love love love it even more! Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much!
Love your reaction and interpretation
Thank you so much!! 🙏
After all the YG kids music it's nice to see some quality K-Pop content.. 👍
Can't wait the odd eye reaction which is the ending of this trilogy.☺️
Some other recommendations from dreamcatcher:
BEcause: a little more sinister
deja vu: visually stunning, a little more sad
black or white: a little more laid back
piri: some of their earlier work
if you ever feel like checking out more from them :)
