So yeah, the change in the team name and logo was necessary if it meant the new owner would not get sued by Disney. Plus, they won a Stanley cup championship with the logo and uniform change.
Feel free to use the time stamps: 0:31 Cleveland Browns 1:38 Memphis Grizzlies 2:39 Miami Marlins 3:41 Indianapolis Colts 4:53 Dallas Stars 6:01 Charlotte Hornets 6:44 Arizona Diamondbacks 7:31 Detroit Pistons 8:42 Anaheim Ducks 9:50 Los Angeles Rams
For next season is the Ducks 30th anniversary season yet there's the possibly for a jersey rebrand due to the Reverse Retro 2.0 keeping the modern colors but going all classic hopefully due to the R.R. 2.0 jersey, they'll make a black version of the jersey or revamp the 25th anniversary jersey from instead 9f black sleeves to all teal sleeves to match with the jersey and the front crest removing the orange sticks to yellow & the silver from the triangle to its classic color
No kidding. Logos, and branding are decided on by people, just like this content creator, but have an actual attachment to the teams. So no opinion is really any better than another, except to those who actually are allowed to have an opinion. Meaning those who own, or run the team. I spent 30+ years in the commercial graphics industry. Job one is to satisfy the taste of the customer. Two? Hope it doesn't alienate the paying customer. BTW, I like the Dallas Stars . . .
I’m a detroit fan, and I absolutely agree with you on the pistons, their logo is so bland, but when I see the throwback alternates to the Flaming Horse, 👌
I’m a bucks fan and I honestly would love to see them go back to their early 90’s uniforms because I’m not a fan of the current ones, but anyways I honestly love the Detroit pistons bad boy’s uniforms from the 80’s-90’s it’s just nice looking and I love the blue and red colors I think they are fine. The horse logo is nice but it’s just a bit to much. But hey we all have our opinions.
People hated the stallion head, and especially the turn toward the Miami Vice color palette nearly EVERYONE was going to, when they were first revealed. They wanted them to have kept the colors, and the "going to work" look of the traditional logo. Which is what the latest design is. IIRC, the NBA has or had a rule that if you change your branding, you must keep some major element of the one you just changed from. That's why they had the DP in the font style of the previous one on the right leg of the short(? pants? Hard to tell nowadays). Pistons is not in homage to the Motor City. It IS however why it was kept when the Fort Wayne Zoellner Pistons moved to Detroit. Zoellner Pistons was/is an auto parts maker located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. They owned the local basketball team, hence that is how Pistons snuck into the name. With the auto industry at that time, companies NOT of the Big 3, were moving to or closer to Detroit, and Detroit being home to Historic Ft. Wayne, it only made sense to hang on to those as tie-ins to their history.
The Dallas stars logo I remember when they were the Minnesota north stars and moved to Dallas they should have changed the name to Dallas lone stars and then change uniform design
Thank you sir. I am also an ND and Browns fan, and what I love about both helmets is that less means more to them. They don’t need logos to make their team stand out, their play does that for them. That is what’s awesome about the browns helmet being the browns logo, they are named after an awesome football coach, so they should have a football related thing as their mascot
I came here just to say the Browns do NOT need a new logo! The plain orange helmet is so iconic. We grew up with it, like our parents, grandparents & great grandparents. If they do play in a Super Bowl, I want it to be with the helmets we grew up with.
To be fair, the Cleveland Browns could change the logo and keep the current helmet design. As for what the new logo could be? Might as well have Cleveland Brown from Family Guy.
The Grizzlies owners actually wanted to change the name to Express (like FedEx that is based in Memphis and currently sponsors their arena) but the NBA said it was too much like a sponsorship for the team name. I'd love for them to be the Memphis Express.
As a Miami Dolphins fan, I wish they would go back to the 80's logo and uniforms. So much better than what they have now. The Anaheim Ducks should go back to their old logo as well.
Part of the problem with the Ducks are they’re not owned by Disney any longer and Disney owns the rights to the Mighty Ducks name and logo so they had to change it and the name. What they could do though is make a new cartoon duck and have it posing in Hockey uniform for logo though
With the "dog pound" being a staple for the Browns, for many years, I always thought the Browns could adopt a logo in the image of a mean faced bulldog. The Colts and Rams are classics and should be left alone.
I have seen logos like the bulldog a few times for the Browns. I just thought of this. Maybe the reason why they don't make it their permanent logo is because they weren't named after a brown dog, they were named after Mr. Brown, like the video says, who did a lot for football in Ohio. Maybe a brown (or actually orange) helmet is not so bad after all!
I think the cowboys need to change their logo tbh. I’m not saying that only because I’m an eagles fan, I’m saying it because it’s literally just a blue star, like they can at least put something relating to a cowboy as their logo, because the blue star just isn’t flattering. Also the giants, jets, commanders, and bears. the jets logo is just a green football shape with the words New York Jets inside, they could do something like an actual fighter jet or a pilot or something other than their trash logo right now. The giants logo is also terrible because it’s literally just two blue letters that read NY, tbh it’s kinda hard to do something with a team named the giants but they could do like massive buildings or skyscrapers in a skyline as their e logo like the New York Mets or something. Commanded is just a big red and yellow W that looks like it got folded like origami. They really just need to change their name again, someone somewhere and I don’t know who but whoever did was pretty smart said Washington RedHawks would be a good name, so they could do that and put a giant red hawk as their logo. The bears have that alternate logo where it’s an actual bear but it looks somewhat distorted, if they made it like a more detailed bear that would fit it so much better. 49ers and packers should consider it as well, 49ers is just a giant red and gold oval reading SF, tbh I can’t really think of any better logos for them but I know they can do better than that (they could do the Golden Gate Bridge but the warriors already did that so you’d be getting them confused) the packers is also another logo where it’s just a giant oval but this time it’s just a big G like the Georgia logo, or other way around I dunno, again I can’t think of a lot of things that would make a better logo than the giant G but there’s definitely better, because it’s just putting the initial of the first word in the name of the city.
As a Cowboys fan, I see where you’re coming from but I disagree. I think the Cowboys logo is just so iconic I don’t know that you can change it. I do agree with the video that the Colts need a new logo.
The Tampa Bay Rays need to bring back their first “TB” logo, the super colorful one, and the word “Devil” in their name Was that part of the name really a deciding factor for potential fans. The only reason I associate that fish with satan is the name change. What about Deviled Eggs? I don’t think this word is all that strongly related to lucifer and is more of an adjective for rambunctious characters
It seems that there are two ways of dividing up this list, either they love the older logos and don't like the changes made or they don't like the classic logos and want teams with classic logos to change their logos. I tend to side with the one where I think the classic logos are better. I think the Browns and Pistons logos should stay the same kind like the Cowboys or Green Bay as they are iconic, and would like to see some of the teams who constantly change their logos go back to their roots ( seeing as how most of the OG logos were better anyway)
The Pistons started as the company team of Zollner Corporation of Fort Wayne, Indiana, whose primary product was pistons. The connection to the auto industry was why the name was kept after the move.
Most sports teams who changed their logos between the mid-late 90s to the mid-late 2000s should change their logos imo, they tend to look too corporate. Heck, my Bengals had the rad tiger head for a few years, but then they went to a striped letter-B in typical Bungals fashion.
You can probably do a series of videos on this. But ima have to go with my Niners. I have ALWAYS hated our logo. Having an actual tough looking 49er on the side would be dope af
2 things I wanna add to this sports logos discussion: 1: The Cleveland Browns’s logo isn’t the only thing the Browns need to change. 2: Why didn’t you TPS folks mention the Oklahoma City Thunder? Have you ever seen how BLAND there logo is???
bro, the florida marlins have the best logo in my opinion the entire world of sports. it’s literally the only good thing about their team. also the grizzlies are pretty good too but i see where you’re coming from for that one
I know current thinking is to devalue all things traditional. But the Browns and Colts are iconic franchises who’s logos (or lack thereof) stand for something.
For the Ducks, I agree that their retro logo was hands down the best logo in sports. It all changed because Disney sold their stake in the team and the team had no rights to use the imagery from the movie (logo, colors, and name).
The narrator is ignoring the fact that theres a lot of rich history behind many of these logos. If the team changed their logo altogether than perhaps in their eyes they'd be disrespecting their own team history
In my opinion, I think the Washington wizards logo needs to change white gold from a wizard doing a layup to just a basketball that just reads Washington wizards with the Washington monument in it
Agree about the Rams. Should have the goat as all time logo. Admittedly they do display it at home games at the 50 yard line from time to time. Also the Rams should ditch the “Pacific wave/kinda a rams horn” stylized helmet and go back to the ‘73 to ‘94 era classic design of Royal blue and Hollywood gold (yellow).
When I heard Vancouver was getting a team, I wanted to call them the Vancouver Chill. You would have letters, with what looks like water dropping, like ice cubes, or melting snow.
The Browns logo is ok. There are Grizzlies in Tennessee, hello the Great Smoky Mountains where Cocaine Bear is. They could have kept the old Marlins logo and slapped Miami over Florida. Let the horseshoe stay. The original Stars logo was amazing!!!! MJ as owner is horrid, so not bringing back the original logo makes sense. The Diamondbacks, idk what you can do with the logo. The Pistons logo is homage to the 'Bad Boys' era. I get Anaheim Ducks wanted to shed the Disney image but the original logo was amazing. Kronkie is an idiot.
I was waiting for the Green Bay Packers & Milwaukee Brewers to be in this video since everyone who isn't a Packers fan makes fun of the name & logo in every NFL group on Facebook as do people making fun of the Milwaukee Brewers in every MLB group on Facebook
The fact is that the Grizzlies name doesn’t suit the Memphis team or surrounding area very well. If the NBA decides to give Vancouver a second chance I think the Memphis team should retire the Grizzlies name and bring it back to Vancouver seeing as it suits the Pacific Northwest vibe and that way Memphis can choose it’s own team that’s iconic and unique to the Memphis area
The Ducks changed when Disney sold the team. All the previous logos and wordmarks are Disney property. To use them constantly would cost a lot of money.
Idea: rename the Indianapolis colts to the Indianapolis racers to make them rhyme with the Indiana pacers, also because it represents Indianapolis history more then a “colt”
Taxes I think (Correct Me Guys if this story is wrong)when the Ravens (the "first" Paul Brown founded Cleveland Browns that had moved to Maryland by Art Modell)was created, Modell requested to Isray for the "Colts" name around 1996. Bob Isray from what I read, had just took over the team from his Dad to transfer the name to the new Baltimore team, Isray said no. Thus the Colts name in Indy is not the worst one for a relocated club.
You absolutely CANNOT change the Cleveland Browns' uniforms. The logoless helmet IS the Cleveland Browns. It would be like saying the Dallas Cowboys should exchange the star on their helmets for something else...
The new logo is an upgrade after the first Miami Marlins logo, hated that logo, but the OG logo was the best, they should go back to the teal if they ever make a change again
The old might ducks logo was so badass. I've always loved this logo!!! Once some one told me, when you change something you better do for the best not for the worst... the same thing happened to the raptors of toronto , just common bring back that dinosaur asap 4 real!!!!!!
I’ve never disagreed with video more “The diamond back logo is boring an unexciting” because the 50 other logos of nothing but white letters is SOO fun to look at And while I agree the grizzlies need to change the logo, the reasoning of “that’s not even what grizzlies look like” blew me away. No duh they don’t look like that. Hornets are blue and purple, bucks aren’t green, horses dont have flaming manes, and bulls aren’t Clifford red. It’s meant to be eye catching, not realistic.
I’m a Detroit boy. Bring back the Pistons teal uniforms with the horse logo FULL TIME. We got it this year as a special throwback, but it should be the prime boy
I kinda disagree with the diamondbacks logo (I live in Arizona so I’m probably biased). I think making the A look like a snake head is pretty creative. And let’s be honest, it’s more creative than every other mlb logo that’s just a letter in a fancy font, it just makes the diamondbacks A look more unique
The Might Ducks' original logo is still owned by Disney. Back when Disney sold the team they didn't allow the new owner to use that logo.
So yeah, the change in the team name and logo was necessary if it meant the new owner would not get sued by Disney. Plus, they won a Stanley cup championship with the logo and uniform change.

Yet each logo they chose did look awful
The bears would look SOOOO clean if they just swapped to the bear logo
Totally agree!!
The bear head comin out of the C would be cool too
But then I can’t use them to go to the bathroom
Same with the browns dog logo
Bears, giants and bengals logos need to change
That Marlins logo is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 You DEFINITELY buggin…
I’m a detroit fan, and I absolutely agree with you on the pistons, their logo is so bland, but when I see the throwback alternates to the Flaming Horse, 👌

That flaming horse logo was amazing.
I miss alot of the logo design looks from the mid 90s to the early 2000s
a black horse with flaming exhaust pipes
Horsepower

THEY PLAY IN FUCKING MOTOR CITY! HELLO!?
I shill for all things Ben Wallace
I’d love to see them with some crossed pistons, or an engine block. Something like that.
People hated the stallion head, and especially the turn toward the Miami Vice color palette nearly EVERYONE was going to, when they were first revealed. They wanted them to have kept the colors, and the "going to work" look of the traditional logo. Which is what the latest design is.

Please do a power rankings for NBA and NHL playoff teams when it is time it would be awesome
The Dallas stars logo I remember when they were the Minnesota north stars and moved to Dallas they should have changed the name to Dallas lone stars and then change uniform design
I like the Browns' helmets. Notre Dame uses a solid colour helmet. They look great.

Uh no, they need a change.
To be fair, the Cleveland Browns could change the logo and keep the current helmet design.
As for what the new logo could be? Might as well have Cleveland Brown from Family Guy.
Definitely not iconic. Browns are mid and always have been the need a whole rebrand tbh... most lame logo, da helmet ain't even brown🤦🏿♂️
Plus they're in ohio
L
The Grizzlies owners actually wanted to change the name to Express (like FedEx that is based in Memphis and currently sponsors their arena) but the NBA said it was too much like a sponsorship for the team name. I'd love for them to be the Memphis Express.
Memphis Express sounds like a WNBA team.
I don't think it would stick for a team name. Besides, there's already a Memphis Showboats team in the Ufl right now.
In my opinion, the Grizzlies and Jazz should trade logos and names with each other
Good call
@ Michael Chavez do you realize the Jazz was originally in New Orleans? Jazz is not a good name for Utah 😂
@@rocknroll7316 Just like Grizzlies is not a good name for Memphis
I think the colts should at least go back to the blue face mask on the helmets. That brought out the jerseys nicely.
I think blue pants with white jerseys, at least for some road games, would be nice, too.
They will always be the Baltimore Colts until they come up with something original.
Their logo should not be touched. But I’ve always thought that blue or white face masks would be better than grey.
LA Rams logo reminds me of these "Please don't oversimplify me!" memes like what happened to Firefox.
As a Miami Dolphins fan, I wish they would go back to the 80's logo and uniforms. So much better than what they have now. The Anaheim Ducks should go back to their old logo as well.

I would like to see a “spinoff” of this list; ten sports teams who need to change their nicknames, ASAP!
There is one
I think the cowboys need to change their logo tbh. I’m not saying that only because I’m an eagles fan, I’m saying it because it’s literally just a blue star, like they can at least put something relating to a cowboy as their logo, because the blue star just isn’t flattering.

The Tampa Bay Rays need to bring back their first “TB” logo, the super colorful one, and the word “Devil” in their name

What about Deviled Eggs? I don’t think this word is all that strongly related to lucifer and is more of an adjective for rambunctious characters
As a Rockies fan I am mad that our logo was not on here
True
The Anaheim ducks, it’s not just a ‘D’ it’s a duck foot
Plus, they aren't owned by Disney, so why would they have that silly looking Donald Duck 1970s goalie mask anymore?
I feel like some of these teams should've been swapped for the Packers, Bears, and Bengals
The late 90s to early 2000s with the Marlin pinstripes were the best uniforms.
The Hornets should not be on this list, they have literally one of the best logos in the NBA
Can you do the top 10 owners who own multiple sports teams
Cincinnati Bengals need to go back to the logo they had with ochocinco
That Colts logo on the thumbnail....👌
Guy- the hornet is the most scariest insect out there Me- the team isn’t 😂
Pls do 10 teams that need to tank next year.
Anaheim was because of Copyright ©️ snair. Disney owned the Logo, colours scheme and title Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

I know, I know, this isn’t popular opinion but, I’d love to see the Dallas Cowboys switch it up a bit!!! As well as the New Orleans Saints!!!
NY giants could definitely use an update
So does every team with a letter logo
As a Bears fan, we need a bear 🐻 on the helmet
Not a Browns fan
However, they should have the bulldog as their main/primary logo.
Fans of the Teal-era Pistons look remind me of the people who liked The Phantom Menace. It’s not my cup of tea, but younger folks dig it.

Cleveland Browns: Our team is named after a color. So our logo should be a color too!

Agree about the Rams. Should have the goat as all time logo. Admittedly they do display it at home games at the 50 yard line from time to time. I am a Browns fan and I don't want them to change the logo or helmet!
The helmet can stay but the logo needs to go since the logo on the helmets make them look better and it would weird to have a helmet logo on a helmet
As a 49ers fan, we DESPERATELY need a logo change

I would not be surprised if the Seahawks were on the list

I completely disagree on the hornets one. Outside of that, good list!
Put Deshaun's picture on the Brown's helmet.

I was waiting for the Green Bay Packers & Milwaukee Brewers to be in this video since everyone who isn't a Packers fan makes fun of the name & logo in every NFL group on Facebook as do people making fun of the Milwaukee Brewers in every MLB group on Facebook
8:42 And the Ducks weren’t even the only NHL team to achieve that. *cough cough* FLORIDA.
Definitely agree with Grizzlies, Stars, and Ducks. I think the current Marlins logo is pretty cool.
The authors of this video clearly don't understand the purpose of a logo. They were wrong on almost all of these.
Terrible list.
And the color of a logo doesn't have to be the color of an animal.
@@JarodJoseph Agreed.
I hate how he doesn't point out that the Ducks logo is supposed to be a duck foot and the letter D at the same time.

Thus the Colts name in Indy is not the worst one for a relocated club.
As an LA Rams fan, I agree. They should've used the new Ram as their main logo and the LA for digital designs
Chicago Bears could use a logo change. Switch the Bears head as the primary logo than the C.
Video idea: 10 cities with the scariest teams
....or 10 teams with the scariest cities.... 😉
Browns should use brownie the elf on their helmets.
No. A bulldog is better.
You absolutely CANNOT change the Cleveland Browns' uniforms. The logoless helmet IS the Cleveland Browns. It would be like saying the Dallas Cowboys should exchange the star on their helmets for something else...
Saying the Browns should ditch their signature logoless orange helmet is like saying the Yankees should get rid of their pinstripes!
If the ducks went back to the mighty ducks logo, Disney would drown the team in lawsuits so they had to separate the logos to avoid being sued
The Ducks logo is a duck foot lol bro I completely agree with how iconic that original logo is
TPS has a weird hate fetish for the Cleveland Browns.
That Marlins logo hard yall tripping
The new logo is an upgrade after the first Miami Marlins logo, hated that logo, but the OG logo was the best, they should go back to the teal if they ever make a change again
@@Rosewolf92 Yeah the OG is better but the new one looks good too
The old Minnesota Fighting Saints logo was the best of all time.
The old might ducks logo was so badass. I've always loved this logo!!! Once some one told me, when you change something you better do for the best not for the worst... the same thing happened to the raptors of toronto , just common bring back that dinosaur asap 4 real!!!!!!
How do y’all in the comments feel about the hornets colors because that dude lost me when he said they were terrible.
Yeah, I find the hornets to have one of the best color schemes in nba history.
@@jupitervideos7702 THANK YOU
I’ve never disagreed with video more
“The diamond back logo is boring an unexciting” because the 50 other logos of nothing but white letters is SOO fun to look at
And while I agree the grizzlies need to change the logo, the reasoning of “that’s not even what grizzlies look like” blew me away. No duh they don’t look like that. Hornets are blue and purple, bucks aren’t green, horses dont have flaming manes, and bulls aren’t Clifford red. It’s meant to be eye catching, not realistic.
How about team names that are nonsense like Jazz in Utah, Lakers in LA, Cardinals in Arizona, etc
I’m a Detroit boy. Bring back the Pistons teal uniforms with the horse logo FULL TIME. We got it this year as a special throwback, but it should be the prime boy
And the current logo isn’t as dull as the last one. Somehow, it’s more dull
Tell me your not a baseball channel without telling me your not a baseball channel
*Bears should put the classic Grizzlie’s bear on their logo.*
My Pistons do NOT need to change the logo. The teal uniforms are the worst jerseys we ever had.
The Colts need to add a horse about as much as the Cowboys needa white dude in a Stetson jumping out of the star.
