    can confirm this works with the prius prime xse 2024. Bought the Focuway T6 Dashcam which came with front and back dashcam for 100$, and this literally allowed me to hide all the wiring for the front cam. Thanks for the fantastic video

    Thank you so much!!! Installed yesterday on a Prius Prime 2024 XSE Premium 👌🏾 The wires were longer than your model which made it harder to place everything but I managed 😅 Thanks again so much 🙌🏾🫶🏾

    I ran through this install with the Dongar adapter, and noticed there's now noticeable rattling coming from the that area over a bumpy road. I've used fabric velcro ties to make sure the adapter isn't moving around, but there's still rattling. I'm hoping I didn't damage the front cognition cover when removing/replacing it - have you noticed anything similar? The cover snapped back into place, but I'm not sure how to further diagnose this issue.
    Thanks for the video!

    Hey I’m trying really hard to do the first step where you pull out the plastic shroud, I stuck my finger in there and tried pulling down but I pull and it’s bending the whole part out. Feels like I’m about to snap it. Any tips?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  8 місяців тому

      Hey Liam - You should be able to pop that little piece down easily. Tbh, that whole assembly is plastic and can appear a little flimsy. Try holding the larger plastic shroud in place with the other hand and then pulling down on the smaller piece. It will work trust me.

    Very Nice Informative Video. I bought the Toyota dashcam and its wire harness kit for my 2023 FWD Limited. It seems the installation process is similar except for mounting (adhering) the cam onto the windshield, hooking the cam from the headliner and running the cam wire in between the headliner and windshield into the wire connector socket behind the rearview mirror. Does it need any modification in settings via multimedia screen or programing by Toyota dealer, or would it be ready to go after powering it up? Thanks in advance.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Рік тому

      Appreciate it my man! As for setup, this won't require any modifications/changes to vehicle settings. This wiring harness doesn't interfere with any of Toyota's safety features. Once installed, you should be good to go. What kinda dash cam are you running? Did you want your setup to be even MORE hidden than how I did it? haha I can appreciate that.

      @@Auto-Minute Thanks for the quick reply... I just installed Toyota integrated dashcam in my 23 Prius yesterday. It's very much hidden with no wire hanging...! The challenging part was to hide the harness wiring into the black shroud.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Рік тому

      @@netmann1492Nice man! Yeah the shroud space is quite tight and requires a bit of patience to make sure everything is securely fastened and you're not crimping any wires. In any case, I think having a dash cam (regardless of who you get it from) is a good move! Cheers 👌

      if you didn't add integrated camera as an option from the factory it comes with a gps block on the left side of windshield. if you take this aftermarket toyota part to a dealer, do they replace that block or do they add another block (harness kit), making it a total of 3 blocks on the windshield. you mind making a video of the integrated toyota cam you installed?

  • @demdunk3808

    Hi, I'm thinking about buying the adaptor and installing it. What is the connecting port originally connect to? I just don't want to mess up the car. Also does it with the SE?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  3 місяці тому +1

      Hey there! The port in question is the one that goes to your auto-dimming rearview mirror. It does not interfere with any of the safety equipment on the vehicle. Toyota Safety System uses the 14-pin (grey) connector that goes into a little box up there. I'm not sure about the SE. You should have this if you chose the option of an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

  • @firstlast7152
    @firstlast7152 9 місяців тому

    Seems like that harness plug doesn't exist on the LE trim, I pulled the cover on mine and didn't see it (and I don't have the dimming mirrors). That's a shame. And from the product page it's noted that the safetysense line shouldn't be tapped, which is fair.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  9 місяців тому

      Ahh man, that's a bummer. Yeah Toyota doesn't have the whole wiring setup on all trims unfortunately....and you are correct, not sourcing power from the TSS system

      @@Auto-Minute If you guys find an alternative and out of the way safe and generally accessible tap-in point I'd appreciate if you did a reply here and let me know. • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Рік тому +3

      Hey @thanhpham4388.....the adapter powers ON and OFF with the vehicle. If you want it to run 24/7 you'll need to hardwire it to take power directly from the car battery. Most vehicle incidents happen during driving and this setup works for most folks...but if you want a 24/7 feed, then you'll need something like this - dongar.tech/products/garmin-parking-mode-cable?_pos=4&_sid=340f67082&_ss=r

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  3 місяці тому

      Hey! Does your Prius come equipped with an auto-dimming mirror? That's what you'll need for this adapter to work. I wonder what the 4-pin goes to. I know there's a 12 or 14-pin up there, but that's for the Toyota Safety System.

    is DONGAR SAFE FOR THE CAR?! i don't want to spend 10k replacing the battery because a 30 dollar dongar damaged it! I'd rather then bite the bullet and pay 650 for the integrated toyota Dash cam!!!

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Рік тому

      @@Auto-Minute the goal is to spend the least amount of money that is not damaging to the car and myself.. this car is expensive and i want to use it years on end...and dont want the dongar device draining my 12v battery

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Рік тому +1

      @@jinsu0504 The unit is only active when the vehicle is ON and switches OFF when the vehicle is turned off. Now if you DO want 24/7 parking surveillance, then you're better off with the Toyota Dash Cam which has this feature and does source power from the battery. This can be achieved with other hardwiring kits as well (for much cheaper), but with Toyota's integrated dash cam, your paying for an OEM product from a dealer. So if spending less is the goal, there's plenty of options out there for cars...it just comes down to whatever you are comfortable with 👌
