Tbh, the answer is a simple, straight "Yes" and not a complicated "yes and no". The speedrun technique of glitching to the final boss helped you achieve the goal of the challenge. The way you did prior to using the glitch can be chalked up to just looking through possible ways.
@@cryptidcloud The criteria to have it count as "beaten" in this video is defeating the final boss and encountering the credits. It's like a Any% speedrun where they know the game is beaten when they arrived at the same place as a casual player can described as the end.
5:20 That's CCA, or Collectible Counter Abuse. If you go to an area with a collectible counter whose cap is higher than another area, you can get enough of the collectibles from the higher cap area to exceed the number of collectibles needed in another area with a lower cap. For example, Dowtown has the wheels, and there are 11 of them, and Goo lagoon has 5 Kids. So, if you collect 6 wheels in Downtown, warp to Goo Lagoon, unlock the Save the Children task, warp back to Downtown, then immediately back to Save the Children, you'll get the spatula without saving any kids.
I cheesed most of rock bottom. It wasn't easy, but the decorations helped me get to places I couldn't before as sandy. Rock bottom felt way too open for me so I kept getting lost and confused

I think that would be cool, but don't get your hopes up. The biggest reason BFBB was remade was it's continual support from the speedrunning community, and Movie is not anywhere near as strong in that regard. However the games were both made by Heavy Iron Studios, published by THQ, and use a lot of the same assets, so a remake of Movie wouldn't be the most unlikely thing in the world if enough people want it.
There are two glitches that speedrunners have found that you didn't use in this video. There's the infinite glide glitch with sandy which would be very useful for goo lagoon and sand mountain, and there's a glitch called spongewarping, I'm not sure where it could be used but it gains you a ton of height.
This game actually combines elements from Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, and Sly Cooper. The enemies and crates (or in this case, tiki statues) are similar to the ones from the early Ratchet & Clank games, the golden spatulas and socks are similar to the power cells from the original Jak & Daxter, and the movesets are similar to the ones from the more recent installments to Sly Cooper. Specifically, I got this: SpongeBob = Bentley, Patrick = Murray, Sandy = Sly.
I'm gonna be honest... I would not compare BFBB to those games at all. These games are platformers... these games are basically supposed to do what you're describing, I wouldn't say it combines elements from other games. I'd say it uses the elements that a platformer is supposed to have
I personally prefer the question of 'how many jumps does it take' over 'can you do it without jumps', so that if the optimal goal of the challenge isn't possible, or like in this case cuts out almost all of the game, the challenge wouldn't just end, but instead force you to do some advanced interesting routing in order to minimize the amount of jumps while still letting you complete it without using gamebreaking glitches.
Yeah. I've found that most spatula's in the game have a prefered player. Teleporting to "Learn the Ropes" in Downtown spawns you as Sandy, Sea Caves as Spongebob, etc. For whatever reason, Patrick's Dilemma lets you carry over being Patrick or Sandy or Spongebob.
19:10 as Patrick you can throw the stone tiki from where you obtained it back to the area you were trying to bounce to. It's alot easier and helped me save so much time.

I’ve always preferred and loved the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Video Game to Battle For Bikini Bottom so it made me really happy to hear the music from that game throughout this video

For instance CCA (Collectable Counter Abuse) allows you to take the collectable amount from one level and write to another just long enough to trick the game. Just warp from an area with a lot of collectibles. Sandy can also infinite lasso by ledge grabbing while holding the L trigger.
wow i played this game so much with my cousins but watching this i realized i don’t remember much after the goo lagoon level! that one was my absolute favorite as a kid
I played with the taxi glitch, it IS in fact possible to taxi to different locations in levels by selecting the correct spatula. This being the case, you should now be able to get past the patrick road block in jelly fish fields and the other characters dreams.
Dang... this game is broken. I couldn't even beat the original Battle for Bikini Bottom without double jumping. And this man comes along beating the rehydrated remake without even normal jumping.
Cool video. I attempted a similar challenge myself with the only difference being that I didn't walljump, but I can't argue with your logic there lol. At first I was only able to get 27 golden spatulas but tried again and this time used Sandy's infinite lasso to get a lot of spatulas I wasn't able to get before. I've been using other glitches I didn't know about before too and was able to get 64 spatulas. I'm pretty sure it's possible to get the one in ball room for 65 but I wasn't able to do it either. It's really cool to see some of the differences in strategies we used. The way you got through museum was amazing, I needed to rely on infinite lasso for that.
By definition you can "beat" the game without jumping, but you cannot "complete" the game. In order to beat the game, you simply win against the final boss and unlock the credits. To complete it, you need to get all the necessary requirements. The game wants you to complete it in order to beat it, but this is not necessary thanks to the power of jank.
Its somehow more broken than the original version, but in the right ways. I actually had so much fun messing around with some of the odd physics and discovered ways to sequence break that didn't exist in the origonal (unless i just never figured them out as a kid).

You didn't even have to double jump in the marmalair tbh. If you use the bubble helmet move and the robot explodes next to you you can actually be launched on the first platform. Then all you have to do is that same move in range of the checkpoint and die. You'll spawn at the checkpoint next to the computer
You actually can do this without the first wrong warp, using the hand out of bound glitch, which deactivates the hand. Watch Nathaniel bandys video on the no enemie run
Of course you can beat it without jumping! All you have to do is: Go like thissss, spin around, STOP! Double take 3 times,1, 2, 3. Thennnnn PELVIC THRUST, stop on your right foot DON'T FORGET IT! Now it's time to bring it around town, bring it arounddddd town. Thennnnn you do this, and that, and this, and that, this and that, this and that, and then...
You wouldn’t be able to do this in the original, seeing how most of the time when you die, you don’t just get respawned next to the platform, you go back to the beginning.
I hate to be that guy but technically when you are initiating the bubble bash attack Spongebob is jumping. His feet are leaving the ground in a jumping animation. So, with that said, it is impossible to beat Spongebob Rehydrated without jumping (Spongebob's feet leaving the ground).
You catually don't have to do the walljump in the mermelair. You can damageboost for the first walljump walls. And for the second one it is enough to bubblebash to activate the checkpoint :) Also I managed to do the ballroom in mermelair. All I am missing in mermelair is 2 socks (I got the bungee and the ballroom sock; not sure if you can get the other 2) Oh and I was able to get 100% in downtown bikini bottom, altough I used the infinite lasso hover.
When you were in the 'Cavern of Advanced Darkness", you mentioned something about not being able to do anything else without the cruise bubble? You don't need the cruise bubble for anything in Rock Bottom
There definitely some spatulas you could get using some crazy glitches in the game, but I don’t think it’s currently possible to get 75 without jumping before entering the Robo spongebob fight.
You could also get the arts by warping from downtown to rock bottom, you didn't need to collect all of them. Try watching some more runs Shift does, there are some other glitches that let you get a few more of them.
Beat BFBB for the first time ever on the rehydrated version , beat the movie game for the first time 2 days ago watching this vid makes me want to play rehydrated again 😭
aside from the cheaty way of menuing to the final boss to beat the game there are still spatulas you can try again at to reach the final boss room with the spatulas required because alot of the areas you deemed are blocked by the jumpless restriction are not actually impossible to get to. Here are just some examples: -jellyfish fields infinite lasso with sandy after using the slide for air use the platform directly infron to infinite lasso off of and fly all the way to the cave section of jellyfish fields -rolling ball can be bashed into the hoop skipping the puzzle and after the bash you are closer to the switch to make it there faster for the bowling shot -in sand mountain you turn around in air with sandy gain height by grabbing tikis behind you to hover then to next slide -kelp forest you can complete challenges going backwards through the boxes utilizing a glitch with patrick at the bus stop _______________________________ those are just a few spatulas that can be freed up but im sure it is possible utilizing a few more strats to enter the boss room with the required spatulas without abusing the menuing glitch to arrive at the final boss area and truly beat the game jumpless.
Huh some of the spatulas were golden underpants that would increase spongebob's health. One spongebobs house. Next on shady shoals. And one I think on the chum bucket
For the puzzle in mermalair you can bubble bash the ball into the hole from the start and then you can hit the button. Look at BfBB speed runs for info or go ask SHiFT for info if you need some. Or anyone in the BfBB community.

Pressing the buttons normally would be way faster. You should check out the Speedrun of the museum section of rock bottom though, it’s pretty sick.

For the puzzle in mermalair you can bubble bash the ball into the hole from the start and then you can hit the button. Look at BfBB speed runs for info or go ask SHiFT for info if you need some. Or anyone in the BfBB community.
