Pretty much Australia in space
Psychic space Australia.
noice reference 😅
The production value in this is beyond amazing, you did a fantastic job at bringing the story to life. Can't wait to see what else you do, particularly with the zerg.
Thanks a bunch, glad you enjoyed it!
@@RekkinOnTheInternet I am a long time fan of Starcraft 1 and 2 and didn't know most of this, great work 👍
20+ years of playing Starcraft and I never knew any of this. Kickass video
Thanks!
This is a lot of backstory that ended up being completely irrelevant for the game.
@@Yora21 Yeah, the Terran section definitely spends the most time on things that just don't really matter. Neat to know, but probably could have been summed up in a paragraph or two and then spent more time on the various factions that do show up in the game.
Much of this was found in the instruction manuals from the original release. I used to read the lore before bed as a teen. These days, whenever I hear rich people talking about living on Mars, I think back to this lore and it reminds me that it'll be the poor going to these crappy planets.
Yeah well every book or game or idea has backstory on why. Starcraft was originally an idea put forward to the Warhammer universe to be a part of it, but they denied and didn't like it. So the people created it as Starcraft and now Blizzard has it's major success lol.
If it wasn’t for all the atrocities he committed, you kind of feel a bit for Arcturus, especially given at first he didn’t want to rule the korpulu sector.
His mother and sister were killed, and his homeworld was devastated by nuclear hellfire.
You gotta wonder what clicked in him to go from freedom fighter to dictator. Especially given how charismatic the man is prior to the end of Rebel yell.
Power corrupts.
Mengsk is a fictional interpretation of real life dictators like Napoleon, Julius Caesar, Augustus, Chairman Mao, Vladimir Lenin, Fidel Castro and Adolf Hitler. Many starting off as Charismatic individuals who seek to change the system. But end up becoming the new system.
Anyone else feel that the origin story of the Terrans is basically Australia but in space? Just as the British Empire sent its prisoners to Australia to fend for themselves so did the UPL send its prisoners to outer space to fend for themselves. The difference being that in Starcraft's case it wasn't supposed to be a penal colony but rather human experimentation on surviving in space, but other than that the 2 stories are eerily similar.
well ... i dont think the Australians got lost.
Yes, and arthropods dominate)
But even in Starcraft, the atmosphere of colonization of the New World, and the terrans themselves are very international.
Your ability to turn words into cinematics with your visual skills in the map editor are something to be proud of.
How in the hell does this not have hundreds of thousands of views. This is great. Super informative.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
Zerg happened : )
HBO needs to get their hands on a Starcraft tv show
More positive algorithim clout!
I had no idea the history of the Terrans in the Korpulu sector was as turbulent as it was. This is another awesome video.
Very well done - at 40, I cannot wait to show this to my kid (13) whom I' taught Starcraft I to. Also - nothing to do with the video, but sound design (and design of one of the most feared Terran units - the mighty Siege Tank) - is better in SC I than in SC II. Greetings from Latvia, keep up the spirit!
Glad you liked it! And for sure, the SC1 siege tank was an absolute beast.
The amazing atmospheric feeling of the starcraft 1 ost with the graphics of 2 is so good
I had figured this before but it's even more obvious now: the backstory of humanity in StarCraft and Subverse are eerily similar.
*"Live for the swarm!"*
- Future Terran
Basically what the extremists in our world want us to be but they will not succeed.
@@Dragonaight just pointing out infested terran exist.
I love how this was done. No preamble, just right into the good stuff, with solid production value to boot.
Ah, a StarCraft lore channel now?
Keep going. Your efforts to tell StarCraft's story will not go without people watching, like us. :D
+ @Max734734 We shall not let it die !!!!!
This was incredible, I always tried reading about the lore, and it seemed messy to me. You’ve put this information into a format that is not only very professional, but incredibly interesting! Thank you so much!
It’s hard to read the text in the manual.
Narrated like this, really puts into view how incompetent the Confederacy was at keeping order. Their only solution was to imitate the United League of Powers, and they didn't imagine it would backfire terribly... even more by the fact they weren't realizing their hold was fading. Until the Protoss and the Zerg came knocking at the door.
Really good telling of the story. It's been a long while since I read both the manual's official terran history, as well as the novel I, Mengsk.
UED history and lore when? xD You do an awesome job with these, im stunned every time
I love how you recreated this in the SC2 editor, you should make more of these!
Got some good news! I have the history of the other two races, an adaptation of SC1's secret mission, and a full 45-minute adaptation of the original demo/prequel campaign as well, check them out!
@@RekkinOnTheInternet I think it would be cool if you created the events of the Great War and the Brood War in the Editor, it would be a lot of work tho lol
got a sub. Holy crap with the production value. most lore blurbs are just reading from wiki ect. but my dude made a legit movie with in-game assets to give context.
This is great evidence proving StarCraft 3 can still happen: The Terrans of Earth have more then enough power and tyrany to be the jain bad guyss/invaders in StarCraft 3.
This was really well done and I love the addition of the in-game music.
Awesome video, great quality and storytelling! Congrats :)
Thanks very much, I really appreciate it!
Watched this a few months ago and wow it is even better than I remember, especially the way you craft cinematics.
Love the back story. Been looking for a vid like this. Poor Arcturus
LOVE THAT YOU USE INGAME UNITS AND BUILDINGS TO TELL THE LORE
Nice video, i really enjoyed it all the way through.
Thanks for the kind words!
You did a very good job piecing this all together, man. I appreciate it.
I miss the days of big-box PC games, especially Blizzard's. The manual included with StarCraft had an absurd amount of lore.
I loved reading through that. It was closer to a book than a manual. I might still have mine squirelled away in my battlechest version I bought many years ago. Sitting in a box in my garage.
I discovered these videos the other day and I’ve watched each of them at least 3 times. I wish I could see them for the first time over and over again. So well done
Thanks very much, I'm glad you're enjoying them!
These are awesome man! I'd love to see a summary or recap of the nova campaign. I fee like it doesn't get the love it deserves
I really appreciate this I’ve been playing Starcraft since I was 8-9
This is astonishing production quality for the size of the channel, subbed!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
@@RekkinOnTheInternet the manual for this game, these lore stories, were /literally/ my bedtime stories as a kid. Hearing them red aloud again is such a treat. Thanks for doing it!
Man i had no idea there was this much lore! thank you for making this video!
Gracias por este vídeo. Me gusta ver contenido audiovisual de StarCraft enfocado en cosas como trama y lore. Me voy a suscribir a tu canal.
How dose this not have more views it's great
Your channel is criminally underated! This is the best video I've seen on Terran lore.you earned my subscription.
Does anybody else think that Amon could have caused the navigational error as the Terran faction was instrumental to creating his hybrid.
Doran Routhe is very sus. Even that word, "Doran" already feels way too sus.
@@Nevermore2790 Yes, very close to Duran indeed 😉
@@TheRogueminator fuck that's good
Damn, that's an amazing theory. Considering Amon plays the long game it could very well be true.
You deserve way more views, my friend. Great videos, keep it up!
Much appreciated, thanks!
Very good custom maps and script you made for presentation for this video.😊
Fantastic Work! Subbed and happily awaiting whatever content you bring next!
This is a really really great series you made, seriously impressed 11/10
Incredible video. I’ve been searching for the history for a while and this was perfect. 🙏
If only we could have gotten this type of story in Starcraft 2.
This video is very well narrated. I saved it to my channel playlists for others to watch.
Good stuff, hope to see this channel grow!
Amazing quality and narration. Keep it up !
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it!
this was absolute amazing you must have put so much work into it, it paid off, i wish it got more views and coverage though
Criminally underated channel
Wow I didn't know this much about StarCraft so thanks for the video!
this was masterfully done
Great content You got yourself a sub! Look forward to hearing the rest of the story
This guy has talent. Good presentation of the story. Very entertaining.
Oh god I remember reading over the manual religiously as a 10yo. Good shit
Incredible work!
Great start, Keep it up!
You, good sir, have earned a new subscriber today.
I sure hope that Mengsk fellow doesn't end up doing anything reckless in his pursuit of vengeance.
Nah he seems like he's on the level.
With all this back story......maybe Blizzard should make a prequel/spinoff game where we play as a young Acturus?
Thanks for making great content :)
Great content!!!
Wow, the original lore was actually surprisingly dark. I'm almost happy for the Terrans that they managed to get away from Terra, and its tragic to see Earth's fate in this world. Glad the UED fleet never managed to return to Earth, cause as evil as Mengsk is, the UED would've been so much worse. Such a tragic, authoritarian future...
Still, i now the comment is a bit late, but good video! Old Starcraft lore is so much better than some of the newer stuff.
very enjoyable thanks
Terran was always my race I would play other races but Terran was for sure my race.
You just won my loyalty sir 💕
Please make the Protoss next!
Just following the order from the manual so the Zerg are up next, but work has in fact begun on the Protoss!
Imagine this with the UPL First Light mod units
This timeline is starting to sound all too familiar....
WHY have I not seen this video until now?!?!
wow... this was great
I miss playing the original StarCraft, the national sport of Korea in the 90s.
great job.
Talks about genocide of Project Purification while chilled country music starts. Very Terran.
Ahhh that intro music
Where did the CGI come from. It looks amazing.
This is lifted word for word from the instruction manual that came with the game. That’s not a criticism, merely a observation that most kids probably don’t even know what a game instruction manual is. Never mind that you could wring out a 25 minute video from what is probably 25% of the manual.
Yep, all three 'History of' videos are adaptations of the info in the manual! I'm starting to think I should have put that somewhere other than just the video description...
amazing
Only 800 subscribers? Keep going bro, and I'm not even a Starcraft fan!
Well hey, appreciated!
Man, you should definitely make a diablo story or a warcraft story
I thought Terrans are the descendants of defeated people from a civil war and exiled to space.
The imperium of man from Warhammer 40k is much worse than the Terran dominion, the imperium of man turn people into servitors or they will sacrifice people souls to the god emperor from Warhammer 40k
Need a video about the UED
Ah that opening theme in first few seconds.
From playing pretend with starcraft as a kid to many hours of booting up tarpit defense
awww man why didn't you include what happened on Earth after the departure of the colony ships? what happened to the ruth guy, how did upl change to ued, etc
I thought this was moistcritical for a sec
Makes you wish for an rpg were you are a Terran pirate
So does the Kel-Morian Combine not exist anymore since it was absorbed into the Confederacy?
There is speculation that Doran Ruth is Samir Duran/Narud.
The History of the Earther.
I thought the UPL came back to Koprulu in some capacity?
Between SC and Brood War, the UPL transformed into the United Earth Directorate, who play a big part in that game's story.
So basically the Terran storyline could show our future if China becomes the world leader instead of US.
These marines need a primarch
2:04 bro who put the jiggle physics on the civilians-getting-murdered-by-their-own-government animation
Thirty Seconds to Sub. I'm here for this!
Poor Mengsk 🥺
so bassically the prisoners meant to mine other worlds instead mined them they built gallactic empire while the humans on earth still shiting on earth on their primative ways...
The "primitive humans on Earth" absolutely destroyed everyone on their way after they came back to Korpulu lol
Err, no. Original SC lore has terrans having OP weapons. What they sent to the koprulu sector was only an “expeditionary” force, meant for scouting, not outright invasion and conquest.
they were still a terrifying force that deposed Mengsk and pacified the Zerg, which only means that if Earth uses it's entire power they would have absolutely wiped the floor with Korpulu
16:05 why have I never noticed before that Goliaths and Spartan Company have Crotch Guns
after watching the zerg and protos history i wonder if xel naga was also responseble for genetic ingenering of mankinde
If they did Humanity would have been in the Overmind's database rather than a discovery.
Worthy of the source material.
Boy this history is starting to sound a little too close
