- So we know that we have come to be big fans of Knob Creek Bourbon in general. The single barrel Knob Creek won us over and then we fell for the Knob Creek 9 year as a great "daily" sipper. So is the Knob Creek 12 year really worth paying almost double the price of Knob Creek 9 year? Let's jump in and find out.

I agree, it’s delicious. I subjectively just like the Single Barrel a little more and it’s a little cheaper with a higher proof.

Been looking for Knob 12 for about a year in Southeast Wisconsin and nothing...Only if you're lucky enough to get it at a raffle. Walked into a small liquor store two days ago, and the guy has about 8 bottles of it sitting on the shelf. Not even behind the counter with the other allocated stuff. I almost didn't believe it... Just a sign saying "1 per customer". Bought my one, then he offers me a bottle of Weller Antique 107... I'd never even seen one of those outside of Kentucky... A littler over MSRP, but less than the secondary I've been seeing... I gladly pulled the trigger on that one. Should have bought a lottery ticket from him too...
Big fan of all whiskies Knob Creek here. Love the 9 year 100 proofer, love 120 Single Barrel, love the rye variations too. However, the 12 variation a neighbor shared with me was heavenly. If he didn't know where I lived, I might have run off with the bottle. The 12's are very hard to find (and I'm in KY) and I buy any time I get the opportunity. Well worth the upcharge in my opinion. @@dominicfrank77 I live in Ky and have only seen it on the shelves (or special counter) 3 times. I purchased a bottle every time, for about $65. Since I can't find it locally, I recently ordered a few bottles online for $70 and paid over $12.50 per bottle to ship it. While $64 isn't chump change, I think ya stole it! I know > $80 is steep, but even at this price, I think it blows many typical unicorns out of the water.
I could never find a bottle of this where I lived and I recently got stationed in south korea and there was a full shelf of these for 60 bucks. Cheers!

The first time I opened a bottle of the 12 year I hated it. Then I let it sit for 2 weeks and came back to it. Wow, heaven knows what was wrong with me before but the flavor profile on this is outstanding. I don't know, maybe the bottle opened up or my pallet changed.
Isn’t the neck pour the craziest thing when it comes to whiskeys?! Haha
First pour/neck pour of a bottle is the harshest. Also palette changes throughout the day depending on what you eat, drink. Bottles start opening up the longer you drink em, more you let your glass sit. Ive had many bottles i loved that i hated later or hated at first and loved later. Had a great glass at a bar and bought a crap bottle.
@@ThoseBourbonGuys I now pour off the neck pour, store in a very small bottle...and use when smoking meat...I make up a Spritz bottle with water and apple cider vinegar...and the neck pour. Awesome on pork shoulder, ribs.

It must be a misprint on their website because the 12 year can also be found in a slightly less available 120 proof and much less available 124 proof if i remember correctly. Judging from all their other offerings it seems 124ish would be much closer to a full proof prduct and likely what website was referring to. Although having tried them I feel 100 proof is really nice for this age. Giving the option and similar price though I would always spring for the higher proof.
This is my go to KC product for one reason, I hate the peanut presence in their stuff and KC12 is the only stuff they have that doesn't have that. I'd love higher proof but all the SiB releases out here have that peanut in them in varying degrees. So that's why this one is a buy for me.
So strange, I can pick up the KC SiB any day of the week in South Texas, but I've only see the KC 12yr once in the past 2 years.
That is crazy. We see it pretty often around us.
Bought one of these today for the first time and completely agree it's better than the 9-year but not two times is better and I would rather go with a single barrel for less money at 120 proof

12 year is excellent. Highly enjoyable and at $60 a tremendous value. I have blinded the 12 against the 15 and surprise!…I am in the minority and pick the 15 every time. Side by side, the 15 is just a bit richer and has a more rounded taste. No knock on the 12 as by itself it definitely drinks well, but that 15 is better IMO.
