I'm back
Finally! We missed you and your amazing builds man!
Welcome back bud!!!
yay!! missed ya!
Yes!! Welcome back.
I have never been so happy to see a UA-camr upload a video! Been checking on your channel over the last few months and I'm so glad you're back man!
You sir are human, and to express what you did at the end of the video, is incredibly brave. You never need to apologize to us, the subscribers; we want you to be safe and healthy above all. Glad to see you back, but you know we all understand if you need a moment or more 👍
Couldn't put it any better, I feel most of us would understand and feel the same way, mental health needs to be taken care of.
I agree with this 100%. My wife went through some really bad health issues a few years back and I still remember the stress, fear and anxiety I had to carry while doing my best to put on a strong face for her. We have to give each other grace and someone that’s given us a ton of great content for free deserves that as much as anyone, if not more
Indeed. Taking time to heal is never wasted, especially remembering family and friends come first. There will be time to make more content, and breaking that negative cycle and having it being something that gives rather than takes energy is definitely the right move ❤
No need to apologize for taking time off to take care of your wife and yourself.
this is a wonderfull comeback, really interesting how you did that ocean, looking forward to the next episode.
Wow the production and polish in your videos are crazy, I honestly clicked this video to play in the background and I watched the whole thing eyes glued to the screen. Love how you explain your process for all of this, especially the 3D parts!
As somebody that has had a wife go through a difficult patch with her health I totally understand what you’ve been through. I’m glad you took the time you needed to get back to a point where you feel you are healthy. Wishing you and your family all the best in this regard.
As for the project, one of the reasons I will quite happily wait 6 months for a video is the fact you took something so wildly esoteric and make it reality. Frankly I’m in awe of the fact that you used around five different processes to make the 3D printed waves and they fit so snugly, that’s some epic project management skills. Can’t wait to see them when you are finished!
Welcome back Neil! It's our true honor to work with you on your first come-back video!
Hey, thanks Jack🙂
It was my pleasure to be able to work with you guys
No need to apologize. Health and family come first. I'm glad your channel is still active, but take your time to get everything in order and yourself in a good place. No matter how long it takes, your videos and builds are worth the wait. I wish you and your family the best and hope all will be well, all the way from the Netherlands.
You should be proud of yourself for doing what you need to do to get through. I'm chronically ill and have anxiety so I completely understand that negative cycle loop. I find watching your videos so calming. Sending love to your and your family.
Glad to see you’re back and I hope your wife and family are doing much better! The ocean in the wizard tower was what led me to discover your channel so it’s only fitting this video is your comeback. Can’t wait to see more, take your time and take it easy. 🙏
This is groundbreaking in the hobby and utterly mindblowing. What a return! Plus, never, ever apologise to us viewers for anything. We get to watch amazing videos like this for free - it's our privilege. You will experience nothing but love and positive wishes from this community.
This man is absolutely incredible
Neil, you are an amazing artist, and though we missed you, we CAN WAIT. You are the master at realistic landscapes, but real life is harder. You need to take care of yourself first. We will always be here waiting for another epic project. I've learned so much from you and will continue to support this channel even if it takes 6 more months for another video.
I'm nowhere close to as talented, but as an artist myself, I know that you can not force creativity. Take the time you need. Be with your family. Take care of your wife. Take care of yourself.
We are here. We will wait. We will support. ❤
Missed you're videos man! No apologies are necessary, take the time you need to get better. Glad to see your back and sorry to hear about your wife, she'll be in my prayers
we're glad you're back, don't worry, I had a tough semester of college and have spent the summer getting better and getting help, the lack of motivation and the overwhelming stress is something I really relate to. in a weird way it's somewhat comforting that a random stranger who lives so far up north from me can share some of the same struggles, it reminds me that those hard feelings aren't just me, they're human emotions that everyone goes through in their life. If you're feeling this way reader, a reminder that there is nothing wrong with you, there is nothing wrong with asking for help (from friends and family and professionals), and the things you're feeling don't define you, they will pass
Man, glad to know this is a help to others. Wasn't expecting that so thank you for sharing. Good on you for taking the time you need to get this stuff figured out and you are absolutely right on all of that. Cheers my friend and best of luck to you and the coming semester. You go this🙂🍻
These feelings are absolutely not just you! One of the things I learned almost at the end of my Ph.D., which I wish I'd known earlier, is that almost more Ph.D. students than not end up feeling that way at some point -- but, for cultural reasons, a whole lot of us imagine that we're the only person feeling that way and so we don't talk about it and keep imagining that we're alone. (And it's not just Ph.D. students; it's just that the factors in a grad degree are often an ideal place for it to spring up.) It's really good to hear that you're getting help and getting better.
And it's also remarkable just how much of a help it was for me in getting better to find a small community of people that actually talked about these feelings and commiserated and supported each other. Hearing other people talk about it, and talk about getting through it, absolutely helps.
WELCOME BACK! ♥😎 When you complete this, it deserves to go to a museum. IT WILL BE EPIC! Sry to hear about your wife. :( Hopefully she gets better. ♥ Sending good wishes all the way from Serbia.
Great to see you back Neil! Love the idea of combining the 3D scanning and printing with realistic programmed waves... kind of make my brain hurt. Looking forward to the next video :D
Thanks Michael!!!😁
This is insanely impressive. That modeling in blender is awesome. Well done.
Glad you are back, but mental and physical health are so much more important than a new video. You were definitely not letting us (the viewers) down.
A few weeks ago i finished the blacksmith, i'm so proud of it. Thanks to your great tutorials and selection of material i'm feeling confident to build more scenary for my miniature display case.
That is sooooo so awesome. Really glad to hear you've finished your blacksmith, are proud of it, and that it's inspired you to continue on. Thank you for sharing and for the encouraging words.
So glad to see you are back. I have really been missing your content. I checked on your channel a few times to see if maybe I just wasn't getting notified of your uploads. You do exceptional work and I am always inspired and interested to see what you come up with next. I know the feelings of guilt you speak of, but you and your family are most important. No need to carry the guilt any further. I'm glad to hear you are doing better. Can't wait to see what you create!! Thank you for sharing your talent with us. All the best to you and your family. 😊
Sir, this is clearly next level ! I wish you and your family all the best !
This is my favorite build on youtube. Glad to see you using blender once again. The way the pieces fit together shows how seamlessly the scanning program works.
Ive never seen anyone do anything like this before. This was amazing!!! Def worth the wait.
No need for apologies, and welcome back!
I love yout videos and missed you, but its absolutely understandable, that family is the priority! I hope yout wife gets better!
Welcome back 😊 Taking care of yourself is more important than UA-cam 😊❤️
Without knowing what exactly is the idea, i already can answer yes, go for it. It will work, or fail miserably, I wanna see it either way
Maybe a dumb question but why not use translucent resin to print the waves and filling them from below with resin afterwards?
Glad to see you're back!
I'll pray for your wife's healing and your continued strength in supporting her. You're a real man for taking your vow in sickness and health seriously. UA-cam can go on the back burner for however long you need. God bless you both!
Life happens. I hope your wife is doing okay, and glad to hear you're doing better. Family and health always come first of course. Wishing you (and your wife) the very best!
Welcome back. So good to see you at it again. I wish you and your family all the best heath and happiness.
Thank you for continuing to inspire. You are so talented
Holy moly, this indeed can be considered a masterpiece
Neil, I am thankful that you were able to take the time to heal. It's not worth YOUR health on top of that of your families to let content creation cause you any pain. We love what you do, but without you, and without you enjoying it, there would be no point.
It was super brave to talk so openly about your life here, and I am so happy to see your inspiring videos back on UA-cam!
Never apologize for prioritizing your health.
Dude, life happens. It happens even more when you've got family that needs your attention. I'm just glad you've found a balance again and have come back. Love to you and your family.
It’s all good bud! Looking after and watching loved ones struggle with health issues takes a giant toll on every one. Glad to see you back, take it easy and get ‘er done.
It's so good to see you appear in my subscription feed again! Good on you for taking the healthy option and taking a break - you're a legend!
Hey awesome work man! Life happens and you did the right thing, family first and health of course. Take care and just do your best.
I'm glad you're back. No need to apologies for you to have some space to recover. Hoping that your wife gets better.
I'd be curious to see if it could be painted to look like water rather than casting. Wouldn't have that nice translucency, but often the ocean is hard to see into anyway
I considered that for sure, but you know me, I like to push things a little over the top lolol
@@RealTerrainHobbies yeah, lol. It certainly wouldn't have the full effect that resin has
I love the concept but I can't help but be put off by that tower at the bottom seemingly taking heavy waves straight to its' wattle and daub wall construction... That thing's gonna get destroyed in less than a day lmao.
I hope both you and your wife take care of yourself...and there is no need to apologise for being human!!
Cant wait to see the end result. Very nice. Missed your vids but do what you gotta do, we understand. This is youtube, life is real.
Keep your head up, Neil! Welcome back and I hope you and your family are on an upward trajectory now. You focused on them, which is infinitely more important than an (admittedly amazing) model castle or dragon or ocean. Great you're back, but I'd take another six month break from you if it meant you and yours came out better on the other end of it. Cheers, mate!
You are a legend❤️ so glad you’re back and i hope everything works out and gets better iA
So happy to see you back & the continuation of this epic castle but, like many have said, no need to apologise for being absent. Family first. Prayerfully things are getting better all round for your family 💙
Can tell you put a lot of hard work into this 👍
Neil, your family and your own mental health come first. We will always be here when you feel inspired enough to put out videos. I hope your wife gets better soon. Prayers for you abd your family
Glad to see you back on track, hope all is well. Missed you
Can’t wait to see the results… prayers for your family 🙏✊
It's great to see you back, I hope everything is well with you! You're one of my favourite UA-camrs!
First of all we hope you are doing better with each day. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Secondly, never feel you have to apologize to us, or ever the need to feel guilty about your content. Take care of yourself first, find your creative soul, and take care of your family.
Dude you are so amazing at going above and beyond on every project! You don’t owe us anything, I’m glad you were able to be so honest and inspiring
I was checking your channel everyday for the past days or kinda weeks and even u can say months well so glad to see you back Neil. I was also checking your insta too but not much updates but yes indeed so happy to see u ❤.And the finish of the video i mean the talmburg castle is a true masterpiece indeed.
And yes Neil well ur a good and great human, yes and u can do it dont worry god will take care of u and your family. I will pray for u and ur family's health.
How Dare you! .... to do something with Blender, without showing at least 1 Donut ?!
XDDD
wow what a process! Really great video as always 👍
No worries man, always here whenever any new vid drops!
As always, your dedication to driving the craft forward is such an inspiration! More than worth the wait.. Prayers for you and yours
Thanks Josh, that means a lot coming from you man. btw I may need your expertise for this ocean pour mold making...
Omg...looks so real. amazing, beautiful!! congratulations!
p.s. Has anyone told you that you look like Novak Djokovic?
Greetings from Serbia😉
Don't worry about us. Your family is more important. May your wife get better and God keep you all with good health, peace and faith. You are an excellent teacher, I like the experiences, because they teach us a lot.
A big hug and cheers from Brazil
You are a genius! This is incredibly impressive to watch,& I can’t wait to see this build completed! Sending much love, thoughts, prayers,& positive energy to u & your family. Ever since 2020, the world has changed. It’s become unbearable at times, so don’t feel like you’re going thru it alone. Your fans have your back, along w/your family & friends. Take care.
You are probably the best terrain crafting UA-camr around. I have been a patreon backer for a while now and never thought of stopping just because you hadn't posted in a while. The effort you put into your builds and the quality of just one of your videos are topnotch. Its good that you're back and in a better place. I know watching your videos has helped me many times. So thank you, but don't push yourself too hard! You're half effort is more than everyone else's maximum put together!
I was literally just thinking earlier today that I hadnt seen anything from you for AGES... and then all of a sudden a video appears! Creepy!! Welcome back though, we've missed you!
Thank you for taking care of yourself!
Always a good day when you upload
Man I was worried about you glad you are back
You've hit on a technique that I think really complements 3D printing. You've obviously chosen a very ambitious version of this, but there are many applications in which this would really work well. For example, using it on a small scale diorama, or lava, or snow. Using Blender/Zbrush allows for a lot of control and variation in the the liquid that I think looks fantastic.
Waaaaaaaiiit don’t use silicone on this it will react with the 3D print and the silicone won’t cure and then both print and silicone will be ruined! I am talking from experience!
I'm really happy to see you back Neil! I hope you and your family are well! And do not apologize for not being here, health is more important than a youtube video!
Welcome Back, I was wondering where you were but this is a very good reason. I hope you're wife gets better soon and hopefully my small contribution from buying the builders kit helped you out trough these hard times.
Mentioning it, I would really like to thank you for the builders kit. it was an amazing thing to make and stands proudly on my wardrobe. after that I made two more things that I couldn't have made without your amazing tools and knowalge from your video's. My last project I am still amazed by, Gandalf vs the Balrog on the bridge of Khazad-dum with al the flame effects like your dragon's breath, but with realistic looking flames powered by a micro controller (arduino).
with you're amazing return I would like to give you the code I wrote for it if you are interested. it is nothing that special but makes it possible to have multiple flames independent from each other unlike most codes I could find that use delays for the flame effect. just let me know!
Hello, Neil! The waves are great! I hope everything will come perfect!
I wish your wife to get well. She needs your love and care. We can wait for new videos, she needs you. I hope everything will be okay.
Yours, Alex
Man ... I'd wondered whether you and your family were doing OK not two days ago, and then you drop this absolute insanity haha
I'm very glad to see you're doing better, hope your wife is as well. And don't you ever apologize for taking time off when you need it. Your health is more important than anything else. Including youtube. We'll still be here and marvel at your ideas and craftsmanship whenever you decide to get back into it.
Still. It's great to see you upload again, and I'm really interested to see how this monster pour will turn out. I'm sure it'll be bonkers.
Neil this is a fantastic channel, and we're all happy to see new content, but it's not more important than you and your family, so you don't need to apologise at all. Your creations are absolutely amazing and are great thing to do when you feel like doing it, but only when you feel like it, so don't feel obligated to put out content when you're burned or health problems come in the way. Work when you can, we'll be here to support it whenever it comes out.
Mental health is real, take good care of it, and if it means taking time, then take time. My advice, take supplement Vitamin D a lot during the winter especially, as well as a high quality Omega 3. Add a bit of routine exercise (doesnt have to be much) as well and it makes A LOT of difference in moods. At least i found that for myself.
Crikey.. wish I had the room for this I would make that wizard's house with waves and water... love that one and that castle.. is a work of art... !! And just seeing this wow....!!! I didn't know about all that at the end part.. sorry for what you and wife and family went through.. You don't have to apologize.. and glad you and everyone is doing better.. just take it one day at a time... stay safe ... ❤😊
Dude! This was absolutely bonkers! Amazingly done, but...stay sane man, 😅
Okay, a few thoughts here: First, glad to see you back. How's the wife doing?
Second: although I understand the interest in crashing waves artistically, wont it make the board less playable as a gaming piece? Like no ship action..
Last of All: as a guy who spent a number of years building molds for polyurethane architectural products, if you are really committed to following through on this ocean pour; you need a two part mold. Meaning you need a backer to subtract from the needed pour material. In short you need to build the ocean floor as a backing plug. Your textural surface molds of rubber need to be poured into and then the backing subsurface pressed into the still liquid pour material. You are going to need a surrounding container to hold it all while it sets. Realistically; you may need to do it in sections which you then blend together with wave caps and foam trails. Figuring out the amount of resin needed for doing this between the mold surfaces and backing plugs is quite tricky math, so I suggest you mix more than you estimate you will need and have small supplementary molds to handle any excess resin just in case. Believe me; too much in this situation is better than too little especially since you will be coloring your resin.
Just my thoughts.
Again: glad to see you back!
love to see your work. you are amazing man! I ordered the builders kit you made, and i love it. Its my first time trying anything like that, never build nothing even small before, and now i am hooked.
I messed up my hand at work, and have been home with sick leave for over 4 months now, this hobby keeps me bussy all day, would have been depressed if nothing to do.
I thank you for making me start this hobby.
Hope all goesw better for you, love from Norway
This is why the Flip Fluids add-on would’ve been a better choice for water simulation in Blender. It’s far more stable and realistic. Haven’t used blender’s default water sim since.
Wishing you and your family all the best. There is absolutely no need to apologize for taking care of yourself and your loved ones. So glad to have you back, you are amazingly talented!
Best wishes to you and your good lady. Hope it's onwards and upwards for the two of you. You make make believe worlds in the real world. The real world comes 1st. Stay strong 💪
Good to see you back!
To address the simulation taking absolute ages, I believe the issue is that the model was too detailed so every nook and cranny the water could interact with had to be calculated.
Reducing the polycount and making the overall rockfaces less complex in 3D for the simulation could save time if you do something like this again in the future.
I was wondering where you went. Glad you're back and feeling better. 💐
Honestly, take all the time you need.❤ We can wait for more content
YESSSSSSSSSS today is just the best I got Baldurs gate 3 New Vid from you and new hobby stuff coming in
Welcome back. You were missed. As I was taught, "Family First".
❤❤❤ prayers for your wife and family!! Dont apologize. Life happens to all of us!!!
I am really glad to see you back, but like others have said, you and your family come first. I suffer from the same ailment as your wife does and so my husband and I totally get and understand the stress, anxiety, frustration, and everything else that comes with chronic illness for which neither doctors nor other interventions seem to be able to touch. While I greatly enjoy your work (and use your videos to get me through the hard days), if what you're doing ever gets to be difficult, you lose your joy and passion (anhedonia), or is in conflict with you being there for your precious wife and children, take the time - however long it is - that you NEED. Do not feel guilty about us here. Give yourself that grace, compassion, and space. As my teenage son says, "Take care of you, Boo." Us followers are here, we understand, and we hold space for you however and whenever you need. I will especially pray for your wife because I know what she is going through and how it feels. 💞
Hey Neil, I'm very happy to see another video of yours. Thanks for being so brave! As others have stated: No Apologies necessary!
Just take a break whenever you need. Health is the biggest priority! Best wishes to you and your family❤
Good to have you back. Take good care of yourself because we need to continue learning from you and see your incredible projects.
Happy to see you're back :)
That reminds me, I still have a real terrain hobbies muse kit blacksmith that i need to get started on.
It looks remarkable, sometimes family & health comes first so take as many breaks as you need to help your wife and your health. See you soon friend.
instead of hard and slow water simulation, you could simply had add an ocean modifier !
edit: you just said it literally 5 sec later when i unpaused the video xD
Definitely no apologies necessary. Completely understandable.
glad you're back this project really is just getting crazy with how much work you put into it.
So glad to see you back, and I hope you are able to continue focusing on you and your family’s health ❤
Welcome back and there is no need to apologise.
I wish you all the best, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
My siblings are big mini painters and that isn't an artform for me but your work has been my gateway to something awesome I can do alongside them so we can connect really naturally. Thanks! Take care of yourself and all your own connections!
Fingers crossed! Gratz new studio/workshop space! Cheers!
OMG!!! I have missed you!
Glad you're back :)
Take care of yourself and your family first. No need for an apology, you do not owe anyone on the internet anything. I enjoyed the video but I enjoy you as a person more so do not feel guilty for doing what you need to.
Welcome back! I was worried when I saw you had been gone for so long. It's easy to let excitement and algorithms drive you into unhealthy places and I'm glad you took time off for yourself and your family. I'll happily wait as long as it takes for a good video that you were excited to make, and prefer content like that over the "obligatory" content made to hit arbitrary release schedules.
Welcome back! Seriously the nicest person on UA-cam!
