This is more like a romance novel! 300,000 POINTS?! Awesome, with a side of awesome, smothered in awesome, with everything covered in awesomesauce! And thanks for introducing me to Gear Guts!
And that's why I play Epic. Fielding 30 Leman Russ tanks is not only legal, but viable. I just knocked a list together where I could probably make it work at 3000 points, including artillery, a scout screen, and air defence.
Oh yes, timelapse would be awesome. And next time get some minions to dispose of the dead? Maybe have a row of tables for the deadpile, a huge junk/graveyard ... Maybe a place to roll dice is handy, with a camera pointed down?
We did like a 572,000 point game divided between 44 armies, and I think we did it in about 12 hours. Could have been like up to 16 hours. This was like 20 years ago, so it's hard to remember for sure how long it took. It was the grand finale of the Eye Of Terror campaign. Every Games Workshop was holding a big lock-in event for the weekend, where all the players were supposed to come, and just bring EVERYTHING that we owned. So far as we knew, our store held the biggest event out of all stores anywhere. It was insanity. It was so sweaty and gross. That air conditioner could not handle 44 people crammed in one gaming room. Modern Games Workshop stores aren't even big enough to accommodate that sort of event anymore. I think our store had like 84 ft of main gaming tables? Something like that. That was about the same time that the Firewarrior game came out, and the third edition Cadian Imperial Guard. And I won both. I think we won the Imperial Guard Army Box in a raffle, and I forgot what I did to win the Firewarrior demo disc.🤔 Well, technically my brother won the Imperial Guard Army Box, but he didn't want it and just gave it to me. LOL Crazy ass weekend.
I'm in the middle of a game where there is a total of 2,483,235 points, with 200 army's. Have been at this for just about 2 weeks. It is a fight to the last man.
@@okanakasugimoto8254 damn! That's insane. The most I can tell you about mine was it was a birthday party for a friend of mine, with his friends from his mom's house on one side and friends from his dad's house on the other. However everyone on the side from his Dad's house (except me quit after a few hours). So there I was controlling 3 armies. Two of which I didn't plan, and 1 was orks who I had never fought or used before. Thankfully I was a Tyranid player so it wasn't a big jump. The other was my younger brothers Eldar army which I was very familiar with. Going against the Birthday boy and 3 others, so I felt super obligated to keep fighting. Again, I was facing an army I had never fought before (the Catachan, a brand new army at the time, and Dark Eldar)... as the birthday day really wanted to beat me, I think it was planned everyone else quit. As I was basically his white Whale opponent. I was the kid he introduced to 40k, but after a few games I basically mastered it and I was basically the kid, that would rarely lose but when everyone finally beat me it was like finally beating their dad in chess. They cherished it... and I was super sporting and loved a great challenge. That day I lost, not to the birthday boy but his friend, because my Hive Tyrant and its Guard couldn't get past the Shadow Field endlessly never rolling a 1. No matter how many hits I landed. xD It was a great game. Loved every minute of it and all of it's wackiness. I really hope your battle will be as fun and memorable as mine was.
Honestly guys, I’m honoured and humbled to be a part of this. And your excitement is shared with my excitement. I cannot wait to jump on the live premiere chat with you tomorrow.
No it's like advertising a video about climbing Everest and giving 15 minutes of rock climbing basics and a couple of still shots of Everest. Unsatisfying.
That was quite the big battle! Most painters are impressed to see one nicely painted yellow figure. An entire squad is even better, and an entire army is quite something, but an entire room full is unbelievable
This is 100% true. When I first came across 40k I was a young teen with not nearly enough money to be able to afford even one larger tank miniature lol.
I dont even play warhammer, more of a d&d type but man. Seeing this is just pure unfiltered amazement im in awe at the sheer size and quality of the armies
Kinda disappointed. This really needed a Timelapse from a top-down perspective. I feel like I didn’t really get to see the flow of the battle, or much of the battle at all for that matter.
I'm glad to read this criticism because, as someone only familiar from a distance with 40k and wargaming, I was worried I just wasn't groking the game. A lot of time was spent explaining gameplay basics-as if this was supposed to be approachable for those outside the community-and I was able to follow along just fine with that stuff, yet it was totally impossible to understand what was happening overall with the battle. I don't envy anyone having to play AND record AND edit a 60 hour game with 10s of thousands of minis, but it really felt like they didn't know what they wanted the video to be and as such it ended up being very unsatisfying.
I read the description and it seems to indicate he's trying to basically reach a broader audience with this. Show the coolest stuff and kinda hand wave the dice rolling. It's fine, but yeah I definitely wish there was a cooler time lapse available
The battle of waterloo was played back in 2019. Now this have been done plenty of time where each historical infantry battalion was represented on the table by a unit. But this time they used a scale of 3x 24 miniature units to represent one battalion. So They had 22,435 28mm miniatures in use. ua-cam.com/video/gMoTMr2Qk9o/v-deo.html But obviously this was limited to infantry, cavalry and artillery models in addition to some supply wagons and similar. No titans or super heavy tanks. Also a huge number of people was involved in painting the miniatures for it and actually playing the game. So what really makes this 40K game impressive is the big models and the fact that it did not involved large number of people painting and playing.
This video made me miss the Apocalypse games we had in our local gaming club. The Battles took literally all day, and it was one of those rare occations where you got to se the almost every model ever made and some that had not bin made officially, but was still represented by home made models.
Only MWG could pull this off! I am forever thankful for Dave, Matt and all MWG Staff (past and present) for keeping this hobby at the level of fun each video brings. That would be pretty cool
Henry would be calling to participate I guess
I've never had the opportunity to play the tabletop game itself (for multiple reasons, i.e. money), but I do enjoy painting the models very much. I don't really understand what I just watched, but I know it was beautiful.
Battle can be lead by 1 man but for war like this you need commanders other people around you to lead different categories.
Congratulations on such an epic game. I can only imagine how tedious it was to move all those figures and keep track of everything each turn.
Need to see a battle report. That was amazing!!!
Don't play 40k, but wow, what a game.
Thank you for saying so and welcome to the wargaming community! I can only imagine what you must think of all this.
@@miniwargaming very epic in scale.
🎵I have forty thousand dollars worth of credit card dept. When they ask can I pay it, I say I can't quiet yet🎵
I don’t play it , I’ve never played it, but I love the passion and skill of these guys. Brilliant.
Same here. Shits crazy
Waaaaaaa!!! this is my dream!!
When I finish my Ashen Angels chapter I will contact you! XD
Amazingly well done. Good show all. Highly Satisfied Silver Vault member for many years, love the channel, love the growth, love the love. Keep up the great stuff.
I'm glad that my fandom of Warhammer is essentially reading the books. It's a lot of work to get this far into the gaming. I'm not knocking anyone that would spend this much time and money on something they love, but I'm not doing it.
Production quantity on this is fantastic. Love to see how far you guys have come.
Nothing like 1 dice roll determining a 60 hour game...
That is an insane battle there! Well done in organizing it and playing it out.
This is the amount of models I want to put in a diorama
Damn. Here I am planning a combined 40,000 (get it?) point game and thinking this is the biggest apocalypse game I’ve seen, then Dave beats that 6 times over. Oof
I remember seeing a lot of Warhammer stuff growing up now this is just getting me more hyped for Warhammer space marines 2 game
I would love to be able to see the whole battle, this is something I would love to be able to do someday
Now I kinda hope you do a imperial guard vs someone with 300,000 points
