Suggestion for your columns wrap them in cedar. It will break up the stone look and cedar is naturally rot resistant. Stain it with a semi transparent high quality stain. It will look amazing
Those pancake lights are great, easy to install, cheap to operate, best invention for the home. As long as the soffit is open don't forget to put in outlets for xmas lights, something I forgot on my house. For the pillars, there are so many different tiles I wouldn't know what to recommend but there should be something to satisfy that.
What a beautiful looking home!! Dougo’s fire pit story still has me wiping tears from laughing. Glad you weren’t hurt. You could use that thing as a forge.
Doug love your deck you have a very pretty view there with the lake as far as fans go either with a hunter or Westinghouse very good products you won't be sorry
Dougo! DIAMOND PLATE those pillars! 😉🤣😂🤣 It all looks great, don't skimp on the ceiling fans, you'll be replacing them before your eyebrows grow back! Larson's always do quality and have great taste! Thanks for updating, I'm still crying from the fireplace story!!🥸🤣
Cedar or redwood last for 20-30 years, but black locust last for 100+ years. Cedar is easy to get and redwood or black locust is the hardest to get....
Amy it’s so good to see you I wish I lived near you all I would love to come help you all on the weekend work but Washington is a little bit to far to help
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Black Ceiling is AWESOME..!!!!! GREAT on all the Stone,,,, WOW,,,, When the Grass goes down, it is going to make a World of difference....
Hey Doug, don’t ever forget. Propane is heavier than air, and Natural gas is lighter. With no breeze propane will settle and fall to where you are igniting. 💥🔥
Hi Doug,, I retired from the military 5 yrs ago after 30 yrs of duty, moved back to the family farm in eden valley, I’m rebuilding the farm house also , having my fun to as you say ,, I watch Larsen farm’s videos weekly, I’m happy to be a farmer again
House looks great! Stay away from the wood. Plain concrete looks the best. Saw a glimpse of Stone at the end of video. You should introduce him. Family forever. Great content as usual. Thank you Larson Farms.
Hunter cellin fans only. Looks vary nice Dougo. You could rap the pillars with the same soffit material. The color would make the pillars stand out. That OCD thing isn't all bad.
Im a concrete guy been in the industry for 10 years….the Pilars you can acid stain them and chose from a variety of colors then seal them with a acrylic sealer and they would look very nice 👍
Home projects are never done! Looking good so far. I can recommend exterior 12v BIG ASS fans. Perhaps investigate black slate stone tile, just did a shower and it turned out awesome.
Guys: 5 years ago, I gave my lovely bride an UNLIMITED budget to remodel kitchen, dining room, deck, and lower patio. She Still went over budget. But I love the results- may not recapture on future sale value- but doesn't matter as we will get to enjoy for 15 years- until we need to downsize and retire. Enjoy. Looking awesome there. Nice video.
I know some people who have a similar fire pit with the same problem. They use charcoal lighter fluid to light it before turning the gas on. Propane is heavier than air so having the fire going first creates an updraft.
I have installed that exact same cable railing you guys got. (Advice) do not tension cables past snug, if you go to what the instructed tension says, You will regret it in so many different ways
About the pillars, you have stone on the house and the retaining walls, may i suggest wood on the pillars. It would look sharp. You could use composit deck boards on the pillars, no maintenance. The place looks terrific!!!
Looks great Douggo and Amy. If lol you do not go broke and have to get off farm jobs to pay for all the upgrades. You will really enjoy it for years to come. Congrats. Thank you for the tour/update.
Place looks really sharp! Would be wonderful to sit out under that canopy in the evening in summer. Ground & landscaping by Amy is aces. Need to sew in some grass seed though.
That deck is gonna be there 50 years after the house crumbles!!! Lol!! Nightmares a dreams too!! Great work y’all!! All the love from Michigan!! #savetheturtles
Quite Bespoke bar/grill/pit! I'd first, spray paint a couple of kitchen fire extinguishers black...then mount one inconspicuously to the end seating area of the pit, and another near the grill...and then...if you know...you know...Dougo! I'm thinking that too much darkness(as on columns) will eventually get "dated", while merely sealing the concrete will work...pending completion of design desires! 🤔 The house should be featured in Gun & Garden or Architectural Digest...just sayin' ! 🍻 Amy(for your patience) and Dougo (for drivin' the struggle bus with your hair on 🔥)🍻🍸🍹👀‼️
Having been raised on the ocean…my dream home is yours….just sit on the deck and look out on the water…Married a farmer, but no water in sight…just fields and fields of crops…but that’s OK ! Love you guys…
Beautiful looking house, deck, and stairs. I know how expensive soffits materials are We put an addition on last November and December cost a lot to soffit under the addition and eves. Amy good to see You in the video again My Wife liked Your corner flower bed by the deck.
Hey Dougo, you haven't learned to stand upwind of dangerous gasses? A long long time ago we were at an anhydrous ammonia leak from a farmer hitting a tree. so we stand by for all fires for the just in case scenario. Well to make a long story short, I asked my Paramedic partner if he was having any issues breathing. we knew within seconds that the Fire personnel forgot to tell us the wind switched directions. It wasn't like we didn't notice right away, but with anhydrous you all know, it adhears to moisture molecules, so in another word it adhears to the air and moisture in your lungs 🫁, needless to say we did a quick evacuation then had to alert the surrounding neighbors. Boy those were the good old days oh I'm sure it's affected my lungs but we never thought about those things when your young. So here's some words of advice never stand down wind of any type of gas. Always figure wind direction, then before you light a match check wind direction before you light it. just think if the explosion would of been bigger. You would of been like the puppy dog and go woooooof, or you could of started the house on fire. Beautiful addition though, even cooking with gas grills, never close the top unless you know there's no gas underneath the cover, yep, seen that before and like your explosion, those explosion took out houses, garages, and burned people bad. I hope you've taken the little fire extinguisher of the combine so you have one for grilling and lighting the fire, might be a good investment! Please ask Amy to record it next time so we can at least hear what's said!LOL I'll end with this all Grain is going to be worth twice as much by the spring of next year certain countries are in really bad places, and if World War breaks out, even if world War breaks out, it's going to be worth twice as much by next spring! God Bless and stay safe my friends.
Hay guys, wow man ya all done a great job on the deck, it will be a great space to watch the sunset or sunrise, or just to unwind from the farm, you are very lucky to have place on the lake, now for me I too am surrounded by water,, LOL better known as PEI Canada, thanks for sharing Dug and Amey, just please find the time to enjoy it,, thanks again for sharing,
Best logo montage on youtube....thanks Stone
Suggestion for your columns wrap them in cedar. It will break up the stone look and cedar is naturally rot resistant. Stain it with a semi transparent high quality stain. It will look amazing
We just did that looks like a million bucks

"It's not even funny" yet I'm laughing and laughing. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Beautiful place to call home. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
Wow, that rock work is gorgeous!
I love the firepit from Hell!!! Doug's story about it had me crying! Great video, love the family stuff.
On the pillars,Cedar wrap on them would look great, plus the weather resistant and life of wood
I agree Cedar is the way to go.
Agree some sort of a timber rap. Redwood wood be another good option.
agree, done this myself looks great!
Cedar or redwood last for 20-30 years, but black locust last for 100+ years. Cedar is easy to get and redwood or black locust is the hardest to get....
Redwood wrap would look good.
Great video Chet Dougo and Amy
It's amazing all the upgrades you can get done, once the kids move out.
So nice to see Amy. she's Adorables!

Hello from hurricane ravaged Sarasota Florida
He's as mad as a box of frog's. My favourite on UA-cam.
The best videos right here!
Rough sawn Cedar would look good on those posts. Or you could do some sort of tile on them aswell
Happy wife Happy life
I would love to be a fly on the wall at a Larson family dinner . It would be hilarious.
I have hunter outdoor fans, I have had mine in central MN for 7 years now no problems. They were reasonably priced.
Absolutely gorgeous. TY for the fire pit tips!!! Nice seeing Stone!!!
Where did that two years go good grief!! all the heck you've been through it looks amazing.💯
really looking good Doug and Amy you sure do deserve it for all your hard work
Looks nice Dougo

Spending time with my son at 72 and 44 is the best time i spend and if we can actually accomplish something better yet
Nice shirt Dougo!! The house looks good
Guessing when fire pit was lit. Brian's Farming video of working words were said.
I would wrap those Pillar's with Gray Slate Tile to match the wall and steps Great Video 👍
Looks great. Wrap the pillars in rough sawn stained lumber from a local mill. I think it would look nice with all the stone
I know some people who have a similar fire pit with the same problem. They use charcoal lighter fluid to light it before turning the gas on. Propane is heavier than air so having the fire going first creates an updraft.
Thank you for sharing. God bless!
The look on Amy's face , priceless
Place looks great. Want to sit out there a bit. Amy, another reason to keep you in my prayers.
Thanks for the update!!
Was that a little glimpse of Stone we saw? Not often we see the entire family in a video
But the house, deck and garden are becoming beautiful.
The house is looking good, great job maybe by 2024 you can through a party. Stay safe and positive things will get done
Thanks for sharing. My neighbor decided to redo their lake side porch. Tractors and trucks in the yard for the last three days.
I have installed that exact same cable railing you guys got. (Advice)
do not tension cables past snug, if you go to what the instructed tension says, You will regret it in so many different ways
I installed an exterior rated ceiling fan. Big difference. 5 years still going strong.
Watch you guys all the time. You all are awesome!
Congratulations on the almost completed project. That is looking awesome Amy and Dougo! Great video Chet, hey to you and Stone!
Was that Stone in the short clip near the end of the video? Been waiting for him to make a video appearance at some point.
@@garett9510 Yes, introduce Stone to the viewers. We would appreciate a family update.
About the pillars, you have stone on the house and the retaining walls, may i suggest wood on the pillars.

The place looks terrific!!!
As has been said before. Never a dull moment at the farm and home 🎉😂😊
Looks great Douggo and Amy. If lol you do not go broke and have to get off farm jobs to pay for all the upgrades. You will really enjoy it for years to come. Congrats. Thank you for the tour/update.
Love the stone on the house.
It was great seeing your mom again.
A very very sweet crib Dougo and Mrs Dougo
Place looks really sharp! Would be wonderful to sit out under that canopy in the evening in summer. Ground & landscaping by Amy is aces. Need to sew in some grass seed though.
The love that family has for each other, beautiful to see, thanks for sharing.
The House looks amazing ,great job
With the stone on the rest of the house I think wrapping the pillars with wood would look good
Cypress wood the pillars, it will never rott and bug resistant, it ages beautifully, its a southern thang 😉
Awesome video Chet, the house looks great. Gotta love hearing DougO' getting all excited about things.
Take care.
House looks beautiful, don't stop now, end is insight.
That was 2.5 yrs ago??? Still remember you guys starting the project!! Very nice design!
If you cut the railing posts make sure you cut the bottom. That way your holes will still line up
That deck is gonna be there 50 years after the house crumbles!!! Lol!!
Nightmares a dreams too!!
Great work y’all!! All the love from Michigan!!
#savetheturtles
Fantastic video! Good to see Stone in the background.

Love you guys…
DougO - do stone the pillars bud. But with a lighter color stone. Like the color on the side of the stairs.
Dougo's house looks great, didn't know the Larson's owned lakefront property.
Hi Stone !
Dougo is the BEST and now he's got a "Dougo" shirt. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
And ITS BEAUTIFUL!!! Great job. Really a nice up Grade
Beautiful looking house, deck, and stairs. I know how expensive soffits materials are We put an addition on last November and December cost a lot to soffit under the addition and eves. Amy good to see You in the video again My Wife liked Your corner flower bed by the deck.
Doug, Amy, the home is what we all work for. CONGRATS for all those hours farming, you've certainly earned it.
Hey Chet! Tell Dougo! Wrap them pillars with some good cedar. Or tile with the wood look
Concrete works really well with acid stain. Simple efficient and low maintenance.
I would wrap the pillars in wood somehow as an accent to all the stone. VG Fir would look awesome!

Concrete stain we stamped out back padio and stained it dark grey looks amazing
Thank y’all that started my day with a huge smile on my face.
