Do u do this only for washing or before going to bed nightly? How often do you braid and band...im about to micro loc in 2 weeks and my hair is really thin and i want to keep as much hair as i can...lol...thank u Ur hair looks great...
Hi! I only do this when I wash every 2ish weeks. If your hair is thin, you probably want more locs on your head to give the illusion of fullness. The rotation you use to maintain it will also affect the fullness as your hair matures. And thank you!!
just curious how mature your locs were here?! my micro locs are barely 2 months old but I really need scalp relief and washing is the only way. my loctitian usually reties me before washing but I AIN DOIN THAT LOL 😭 how long did you wait into maturity to start washing at home?
Thank you!I literally started washing it myself from like week 3. My locs were about 4 months old in this video. If you don't feel comfortable washing it, I recommend buying Taliah Waajid Ditch the Itch serum. It has helped me with itchy scalp since I was a loose natural. It's like $7 at Walmart or the beauty supply.
At the end of the day though, washing it will bring the most relief. This is also the first time I've heard that a loctician reties before washing. Doesn't that just lock in any buildup in the new growth?
@@astoldbymeso thank you for the recommendation! so I have very soft hair and on my first retie by loctitian was worried about bunching, unraveling, and maintaining my grid. so she retied me first then washed, and it went well!! I typically don’t have product buildup bc I only use water on my locs, water only. other than that, I have dermatitis so the clarifying shampoo/treatments I do are super clarifying so there’s no residuals left behind anyway (I shampoo 3x). my locs are 2 months old as of tomorrow so the fact that you started washing earlier makes me feel a little better. I started using two strands, did you as well? I assume bc u said micro instead of sister ur not interlocked all the way down. I’m going on vacation and I wanna wash my hair so bad!! I think I will try to using ur tips, I honestly feel more confident after seeing someone else do it!
Yes! I started with two strand twists and wasn't interlocked all the way down. I'll say though, my hair is not soft or fine, so it was easier for me to start washing earlier with no issues. Also I don't have a grid so I didn't have to worry about that. Hoping you've gotten some relief at this point!
Great job! I didn't have to keep rewinding to understand! Thank you!
I'm glad!

I think you should! Regardless of how you start your locs
I have braided microlocs and I think your locs would stay well intact afterwards.
@@astoldbymesoonly for washing your hair?
Thanks for sharing! I was wondering what was the difference between the two.
Please do we have to braid and band before bed or just on wash days?
Personally, I only braid and band before washing
