Hey there! I hope these tips were helpful. Want to book your ticket to India?? I recommend opening the Venture X card to book with points. It's my favorite travel credit card AND it even has lounge access and Global Entry.. definitely needed 😅 capital.one/3hIJcip
#1 tip would be to use Uber? Why do Westerners forget Uber exists when they come to India? Going into a taxi is hard for us Indians when we are not local. Use Uber and avoid 90% of the scams which originate from taxis.
So true! The reason it’s not in these tips is because you need a working Indian SIM card to use Uber. The SIM card at the airport takes about 8 hours to activate. I did enjoy using Uber in India but many can’t access it until their SIM card gets activated. Thanks for the comment! Very helpful for others to know Uber does exist in India. It’ll also be in my next video. 🎉
@@miaonthemap, you don’t need a working Indian sim to use ride-shares (Uber or Ola) in Indian International Airports like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, etc. There is a dedicated Uber terminal in select garages, which the Uber contact employees will arrange the Uber ride for you. Another tip is, if you are from US, and have Mint Mobile, or EU and have T-Mobile, is to charge a 10 USD or Euro international credit. Both companies offer that. That will be enough to use the internet for the 1st day before the Indian Sims works. Also, get Sim from Airtel in the airport and get cash from State Bank of India (SBI) in the airport.
I am also a traveler but I am from India if you want any help or guidance I can provide you ...... 1. For taxi you can use uber or ola 2. Good people and bad people, everywhere so be aware 3. Always take advice from local friend
For foreigners, one advice i will give you leave delhi as soon as possible when you landed in India. Best place to visit majority foreigners know only Taj Mahal , Varanasi, Delhi, Jaipur etc.. I will give some best places North most states( Himalayan states- 4), southern states ( 5 states), western states(3), northeast states(8 states). Totally 20 to 22 states are best for travel.
Would you say rishikesh is safe for an American woman traveling alone? I am signed up for a yoga teacher training but I am a bit scared about getting from the airport to the ashram alone. Thank you so much for any advice or tips!! ❤❤❤
Prepare to get toungue burn by spices in our food usually WESTERNERS cant tolerate such spices and during summers temeperature can go beyong 40C and last always have large amount mineral water with you coz we also drink filtered water at home not tap water
Love, love, love all these tips! Seeing India through your eyes has made me want to visit so much! Can't wait to watch your adventures and learn more from you!
The best way to avoid SCAMs in India is to Avoid big Metropolitan cities. And for A vibrant experience Visit the Hill stations, visit the northeast states of India, visit the tropical islands like Lakshadeep.
I once interacted with an American from Tiger Global Management LLC. He told me he spent 5 days in India, 2 days in Gurgaon and 3 days in Bangalore. He had come to India for work. So I asked him what he thought of India? He told me that India is dynamic, vibrant, creative and technologically advanced. He spent his time evaluating various startups in India for investments. He met Indians who created video games, made e commerce portals, made computer peripherals, created drones, robots and fintech companies.
I got scammed in Finland, on my first day to my hotel a taxi guy come to me and told me he knows the place, unluckily I had no local sim to call uber, latter i learned it only takes 35 euro to that distance traveling whereas this guy charged me with 85 euros, so this is common in todays world even most happiest country with only 5.5 million people has this kind of people then imagine India with 1.4 billion people, do the math ! and P.S I am Indian !
I request foreigners, please avoid Delhi, Mumbai, and other big metropolitan cities at first because you will be very disappointed with pollution, honking, chaos, scams and a large population. Go to Himalayan states, beach states, north east states. You will really enjoy and have a peaceful time. At last, you can go for large cities and observe the rich diversity in India. 😄
Mia, I always love your adventures and you know India has been on my list for a decade or more. I want to make it there soon. I will be in touch with you before I do, but this is extremely helpful information. BTW, I shared with Sourav! Remember him? Hugs
If you are apprehensive, you could just use a tour agency - they are pretty good, they are affordable, give you a well thought out, curated, diverse & wholesome experience. And are generally not bad. And you won't have to worry about safety or anything else.
Not just foreigners but if you are from different states like if you don't talk their language and specially if you look different, and stare that's so uncomfortable, and the texi acam is real . That chaos is mostly the older part of a main city it's irritating for me to. Bc i live at a village kind of a town , here we have so many cars but the rods are wide and the air fresh and more green.
I much prefer small towns or villages more than big cities for that same reason of how chaotic big cities can get. Thanks for watching and sharing feedback!
Use Ola or Uber for cab services. And Avoid visiting old cities like Old Delhi, Agra and Varanasi. Instead visit the newly made cities like AeroCity in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, pune , Thane Etc. south India has lot to explore and if travel can be planned precisely then its easy and safe for solo Female Travellers to travel in India. And in Big tourist places Foreigners often get unwanted starred and selfie request because the people who Gomes from rural India they get surprised to see foreigners. But it's not something dangerous just basic human curiosity just avoid it. Otherwise it's great to explore India. But sad part is that just because of slight Negativity India's image today has impacted negatively while in reality India is preety safe and offers diverse Exposure to spend Amazing holidays. I hope you understood ❤️ from 🇮🇳
Being overcharged is better word for it than scams. Western countries have atleast 10 times GDP per capita than India so it's natural that they would expect more from foreigners as paying few more bucks is not too much for foreign tourists but it is huge earning for locals.
Delhi is hub for taxi scam and hotel scam... avoid old delhi is best possible way to enjoy rest of india's trip ✌️✌️ visit northeast region too , try different tribal food and local attire.. is quite interesting ✌️✌️
When you want to escape from all these thing ,you need just good character person. He/She will tell all those things .if you want more help ask them at initially.
there certain areas to be avoided in every nation. just avoid them and you are safe. how to know what is safe what is not? google and talk to people on social media
Well I have made so many friends from different countries and cities so they can help me when I'm traveling outside. You guys can also do that. BTW ever coming to Delhi, India' contact me. It's my home city I would love to show it to anyone how beautiful it is. ❤️❤️ And I'm not gonna charge you anything 😂
Even as an indian i don't prefer local taxi if we are in different cities we prefer ola or uber i guess this common in western as well and this scam are happening in USA as well i guess western don't have that much of money to spend in ola and uber or what
as a local, pls Avoid Delhi. its not worth it, whatever historical structures you want to see, you will get all around different cities in india. especially avoid Old delhi. Visit new states places like tamil nadu, gujarat, maharashtra, goa, odisha etc. YOU wont be dissapointed
Enroll in Karl Rock Videos on UA-cam. You will be amazed to know what kind of people live in this world. Even as an Indian I did not even know such scams happen. #1 tip is not to be kind and polite if someone is rude/persistent/intimidating with you just like she said give a firm "No"😂😂😂
Well I would say there's no country in the world which is 100% safe. Even America have a high crime rate? I would say you just need to be a little smart. When you are travelling in a new country be that India so anywhere else.
India is much safer than the US. No gun violence and one would do fine provided they use common sense. Scams and haggling are common in almost every asian country- not just specific to India. Enjoy your trip in our country.

Solution of scam is bargaining if they say 1000 say 500 in return
I came across many scams in Europe and the USA and theft in Canada. Taxi scam is quite rampant in New York city.
Even we indian got victim by taxi scams when we go to the other states.
Ah scams are the worst!
I once got scammed in Chennai lol. I paid 500 for 1 km distance. This was before smart phone era.

@@Darkergjost that's for only indian users, because we can use alternate number or aadhar verification unlike foreigners who have none.
Not only Uber you can use Ola too but all taxi drivers are not scammer's.

Why would this even be a subject for the world. Let's be real, usa is far more dangerous. The entitled sense of self is preposterous.
Safety depends on you... If you behave properly..... Dress properly... Speak less.... Don't roam at night.... 💯 percentage safe
