I wrote this about a yr ago but never posted, thought I would now: Some FAQ: Why not call police? Because I could not do so. My phone had broken a few days before. It would not accept SIM cards anymore or even open the dial pad. So, it could only make calls using wifi. I had told the hotel employees this days before they started acting inappropriate. The wifi in the room was weak, so I asked them to use their hotel phone. They told me go buy a SIM card, so I explained the issue. Because of this, they knew that if they turned off wifi, I would be without any way to call for help. The phone inside the room was a hotel intercom only. The only people I could call on that would be the hotel employees trying to get in. Why stay in such a cheap hotel? This is the type of hotel we were staying in all over India (I had been there about 1 month already). Never any problems. $12 was pretty typical. We were recommended the area by both travelers and local friends. We stayed at a 5 star hotel ($100/night) when we first got to India and did not like it. We tried again to stay at a 5 star hotel (over $150/night, very famous in Connaught Place) and that was where I had my 1st bad experience. As I say in the video, that’s where the hotel gave my room number and information to a stalker trying to gain access to my room. I felt extremely unsafe at the 5 star hotel because of this, so we went to the $12 hotel (we’d actually stayed there before, about 1 month earlier, back then the employees were nice and it was fine). Do you dislike India? No, of course not. I am only against the few bad men that did this. See the first few seconds of the video for my thoughts on this. Why not call front desk? The hotel employees were the ones doing this. It was a small hotel. The same people working at the front desk were the ones trying to get into the room. Why didn’t employees use mastercard to get in the room? There was no such thing at this hotel. Also thankfully all hotels in India have locks inside. There were 2 deadbolts. They did try to unlock and come in but the door was locked from inside. Are you making money off this video? No. I never monetized it and I also turned down all of the many paid offers I got for interviews. I never wanted to make any money off of this, only to share the experience. If they didn’t get in the room, how is it assault? The assault happened in a separate incident while I was walking on the street (with my boyfriend at the time), as I mentioned briefly. It was enough to leave me with bruises that lasted for about 2 weeks. Why not yell out window for help? There was no window in this room. Why not open door and attack / beat them up / punch them? I’m a petite woman weighing about 100 lbs (45 kilos). There were around 3-6 men outside the door at different times of the day. That just wouldn’t be smart. How did you pay the final bill if you had to escape? My ex and I paid in advance for the entire week upfront, sometimes hotels would ask for that if they were giving you a discounted rate, which they were. I don't check comments on this video anymore. Thank you so much for the support!
You are right few bad people won't destroy Indians image, if your mobile was working then there will be a different story but unfortunately you had bad experience.

**NEW UPDATE - Great news guys, the hotel where this happened is being SHUT DOWN. Other women have come forward and said that this happened to them there too!! Now something is being done. If I have helped even ONE WOMAN be spared this same experience, this is all worth it. Thank you for your support. Also UA-cam is filtering out a lot of your comments because they contain words like "rape" and such. They aren't gone, they just need to be approved. I am mass-approving them whenever I can but with hundreds of comments coming in, your comments might take a few hours to show up. I'm sorry about that. Thank you for all of the support. Guys my heart is pounding right now to actually press publish on this video. It has cost me a lot to share this. I still don't know exactly why, but I knew that it was very important for me to speak out about what happened. Thank you for listening. Edited to add hotel names: The hotel where I was trapped in the room was OYO Hotel on Main Bazaar Road, Delhi (now shut down! action taken!) The hotel where they gave out my room number was the Lalit New Delhi in Connaught Place (action also taken! yes!) There is an ongoing police investigation on both these matters. Both hotels have been contacted and upper management has been supportive. The employees are or have been removed. Questions you guys have been asking a lot: Why didn't I call the police? As I said, I had no usable phone or wifi to do so. Why didn't the employees unlock the door with a master key? Thankfully the door locked from the inside, and there was also a big padlock outside the door that only I had the key to. Why didn't I call the front desk? The hotel employees were the ones waiting for me outside my door. How was I to know who at the hotel to trust or not? Thank you for all of your support!
I'm glad you are SAFE!!!!!!!!!! next time DONT do that.. If they are disrespecting with luvio then its dangerous for you alone. I'm glad you made the video. You educated me and everyone else. Just learn from this, make adjustments. I'm glad you are safe.
Cows r killed on daily basis, in Kerala congressmen killed cow in broad daylight. How can u equate two different instances? Those who respect cow, respect women also since our culture teaches us to respect not only animals but trees, rivers, nature etc. Our culture teaches vasudhev kutumbakam ( whole earth is my home and all humans r my brothers and sisters). The one who molest girls don't believe in this ideology and these type of ppl can be found all over the world. It's quite funny logic of urs where u held whole nation guilty because of bad behaviour of few. And ppl like u can only make fun, we hindus respect cow to show our gratitude towards them since we get so much from them.
Yeah, Indians will be the first ones to tell you this, even male Indians like me can tell you horrifying stories about stuff that has happened to my girlfriend and sisters. While there are many good, law-abiding, and helpful Indians, there are a significantly large number of no good, practically illiterate and sexually deprived Indians with a medieval mindset, enough that you cannot avoid them no matter how hard you try.
If a woman gets raped, the families will not find the rapist, but go on a witchhunt to kill the victim because she's now "unpure". Fortunately nowadays this is slowly changing
As an Indian women who has been groped, teased, stalked, I never felt safe in India. And neither did any of my female friends, sisters, cousin. It's UNSAFE FOR WOMEN, which is a sad reality.
I went to Delhi and stayed there for 3 helly days. I hated everything. I remember being robbed in the metro by a girl while I was pasting my photographs on a form. I was taking out my photographs from the wallet and while doing so I put it just besides my lap. The metro was really much empty that's y I felt easy and put my wallet besides me while pasting my photos. This girl quiet craftily tool the whole wallet and left at a station just before I was about to wrap up and pick up my belongings. My ID, my only debit card, 4600 indian currency were robbed by that girl. Thank God I had the passport with my friend who was travelling besides me. The only thing that I wanted to do that day was to see the footage of how she did it. I asked the police and the response was like they could do nothing even when they could have done. I hated Delhi from that day on...

I don't understand why people are afraid of telling their horror storires from india in fear of offending indians. Like, SAFETY is more important than hurting the feelings of indians. WOMAN ARENT SAFE IN INDIA! The word needs to get out DONT TRAVEL TO INDIA!!! People need to know that they are in danger while ANYWHERE inside india. People are afraid that saying things like this will hurt tourism. BUT THEIR TOURISM NEEDS TO BE HURT They need to feel the financial blow of losing most of their tourim. That is the only way that things will change When their politicians feel money fading away, they will INMEDIATELY TAKE ACTION and hard change will occur, then once they implement huge changes tourism will come back in droves because india has a lot to offer for tourist but not as it is today
Atleast when this type of news come whole India unite to give justice to victim but when Indian get in trouble in America or any western country they don't even care about it and even in some cases officer mock Indian with racist comments instead of serve justice to them , in 2024 within 4 month more then 12 Indian students has been killed in America,50% of Indian face racism in western world, even if we see recent event in usa when Baltimore bridge collapse all Americans criticizing Indian , but Indians are who saved many lives of Americans by giving sos 🆘 alarm, and Americans captain are who crash the ship , so first make sure is your country safe for tourists or immigration you racist person
My good friend is indian and female, she lives there alone with her mother and tells me constantly how afraid she is for her safety if anyone ever found out that there wasn’t a man of the house.
Ha ha, nice storyline.. Can you tell me a country where women are safe? And you're talking like as if your country only have women and we don't have women living in our country. if you visit to cheap places of Delhi or mumbai or whatever else just to explore and showcase the poorer side of india , definitely you'll come across some illiterate and uncultured people, this also happens in USA and other countries too. So if you're going to india or other places , you should always avoid those places where you can have risk of snatching, assault etc. Before going there make some researches.. Neither india is full of all gentlemen nor any other countries do. Evildoers can not have boundaries, no religion , no race..
Bikram Debnath I wish this was a storyline and not a reality. As was commented earlier, my comment wasn’t an attack on India but was to raise awareness of a societal issue that effects many parts of the world. I think the whole point of this video in general is to raise awareness for women travelling.
Being an Indian i would suggest all the foreigners & even Indian girls not to travel alone in India & if very necessary then pls pls take all the legal & all type of precautive measures to be safe. BEING AN INDIAN IT IS VERY EMBARASSING & FEEL SO SO SORRY FOR IT.
well that's like going to middle ages ok. that is not an option. my grandmother was working and drove a car, my mom worked and so did my masi often late night as she was called for operations and here i am living with a bunch of goons coming into the city with their sick mentality and born to illiterate mothers and fathers , i am sorry that is not an option. the only way is if some one is stalking you confront them. they are like criminals if they sense you are mustering strength to stand up to them they will try to subdue you you best option is 100 % to call the cops. not travelling alone is not an option. i travel alone throughout my life in trains, flights , taxis , uber you gotta set them straight. even if that means calling the cops and clicking their pictures and abusing the suckers.
@A 2k20 yap by putting up posters of tenage girls for a night stand on electricity pillars openly for childrens to see, yap china is way ahead of india.
That's really terrifying! I hope you're ok! First rule of thumb when visiting India alone - never stay in cheap hotels or use cheap mode of transport. Always stay in mid- range or if you can afford, high-range hotels. If you're using trains to travel, always book 2nd class AC or 1st class AC seats. Never book sleeper couches. I'm an Indian, and when people say India is not safe for women, they're not very wrong. There're many many good people but you can't deny there're many bad too among 1.25 billions. I'm glad the hotel is shut down and you've continued your travel. If you come to India again, do visit the seven sister states in north east! You won't find fancy building or palaces there, they're all about raw natural beauty. These states are called the unexplored paradise of India and are generally less crowded and the weather is cooler then the rest of India. Best wishes for all your future journeys!

They stole my food in my hotel room. The manager don’t care even I reported it. The taxi guy took my money and said he has no change and take off. Even for guys, be careful going alone.
As an Indian who was born in the states and brought up here, I don't like visiting India. The last time I visited I got strange looks from men when I was wearing jeans that fully covered me, not even shorts? Wtf. Also, a guy at a shopping center followed me around for twenty minutes when I was with my mother. I wanted to cry. Luckily, my father came and told him off. All of this happened when I was just 14. I'm now 18 and I never plan to visit that place again. Sorry, it's just a scary place for me.

One thing girls need to understand while traveling India is to never stay in cheap hotels, it's not the same like Europe or US, these hotels are shady at best. U need to make sure u stay nothing less than a 3 star hotel in upscale areas avoid shady areas not located right in the heart of the city. Be always safe!!!!
Nvd khan so what is the suggestion for the 5 star hotel that gave out her personal information, full name etc. to a stalker? That had prompted her to check out and stay in another hotel?
Please do not blame the fault of those people on the whole country. Bad people exist everywhere. What happened with her is truly tragic and I am sure that any Indian in their right senses would be disappointed that she had to go through with this. We are not blaming her for anything but just providing precautionary information to future travelers that it is not advised to stay in cheap hotel near the outskirts of the city. Even, we would avoid staying there. I am sure there are places in every country where it is not safe to visit at a certain time.

This is terrifying. I am so glad you decided to share this. This is a good warning for anyone, especially women, thinking about traveling to India. It doesn't matter if the "men" at the hotel didn't actually end up doing anything to you. Just the fact that they lingered around your door for so long, harassed you, deprived you of access to calling and AC, is violation enough, and (I hate even having to type this) it's clear what their intentions were. Ravi Sankar In June 2018, a global survey of about 550 experts on women's issues conducted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation named India as the world's most dangerous country for women. This was mainly due to the high risk of sexual violence and being forced into slave labor. Imagine its worse than Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia and Saudi Arabia.

When I was in Italy I had traveled to a village in the Alps by myself. The friend that had come with me had fallen ill, so I took the trip by myself. I had a great day, however I made the mistake of getting on the wrong train going back. By the time I realized my mistake, and had gotten off, I was in a very rural area and the station I exited had no more trains departing for the night. I knew no Italian... but I asked whoever I could passing by if they could help me. One man who spoke English very well offered to help me. I called my friend's mother who spoke fluent Italian and had her speak with him. She told me he sounded like he could offer help and that I shouldn't worry... so I went to his house and I met with his mother and they were able to get me a taxi to another station. On the way, my phone died... Once there, I found the station empty, save for a group of men. I bought my ticket and went to sit for my train, having an hour to kill before it came. One of the men came to sit beside me once the others had left... At first he seemed kind, but things quickly turned unsettling. Asking my age, if I was alone, where I was from, why I was there alone so late... He said he'd like me to come back to his house. That he thought I was beautiful. I told him no, I needed to go. He was persistent, saying it was empty and no one would be there. I could leave in the morning... When I was firm with my decline a second time he started getting upset. I could feel the situation escalating, at a loss as to where I should go for help... if anyone was even around to offer it. After nearly an hour sitting there with him, truly beginning to worry for my safety, a train came. Then a bunch of passengers exited and stood near me on the platform. I don't think I breathed easy until I was at my friend's apartment 2 hours later and just fell apart from the anxiety of the whole ordeal. I only share this story because I don't want other young women making my mistake. I thought I could travel alone in a foreign country, but if you don't know the language and you make one (or several in my case) dumb mistakes, you're setting yourself up for failure. I'm lucky things didn't turn out a lot worse. The man who initially helped me could have had ill intentions as well. I was at the mercy of whoever could help me... and I just hate myself that I let it all happen. Just... make smart choices. NEVER travel alone. It's not worth it.
As an Italian I apologise... We are generally kind and warm people, but the problem is that misoginy is still strong. Many men still think that when a woman is alone at night she's practically asking for it and that any man walking by is entitled to her body. Luckily times are changing and women are starting to speak up and face harassment, but it's not always easy because it's a system that is resisting. As a girl living here I can tell you that in general Italian men are nice, in general. Now I'll probably be labeled as a racist, but the only catcalling or harassment that I experience is from immigrants, coming from Africa, India, Middle East and Eastern Europe. When rape happens keep in mind that the levels of victimshaming are over the roof. Nowadays, when the one that committed the rape is an immigrant usually it's only the immigrant's fault in the public opinion. If he was Italian she was asking for it definitely. We have many issues to solve.
Just remember it was never your fault. Never. You could walk the earth naked and nothing should ever happen to you (except a fine lol) Remember this ❤️
Thank you for your comment... during my visit I found that many of the Italian people I encountered were very welcoming and kind. It was an Italian man that helped me find the new station, something he honestly didn't have to do. I also don't want to assume that all immigrants are the issue here, because that's a huge generalization, however I will say that in my case the man who harassed me was originally from Egypt. He told me a lot about himself before assuming I was to go home with him. Not that I asked to know, he told me on his own... I think every country deals with varying levels of this issue, and as a woman (or anyone, honestly) you have to keep your wits about you. It was my first time traveling alone in a foreign place, and I must have looked like an easy target... but I learned a lot from this incident and I won't be making the same mistakes again.
@@kizzy3563 I'm sorry that it had to happen in Northern Italy, where is actually safer than many places in the rest of my country. Yes, we still need feminism because with the right wing back in power many idiotic politicians want to erase abort and gay marriages... Hope they will never win. The only good thing that the right needs to give us is less taxes, more jobs and more independence from Europe in matters of immigration. THEN STOP.
You have to be extremely careful when you travel in India. As an Indian woman I don't feel safe in this country. I avoid going out after dark. I was grabbed while on rickshaw in a crowded place. I had a car following me in a crowded national highway. I had men asking me how much would I charge for a night while waiting for my cab and it happened while a Police van was just few meters away. I was sexually harassed in a crowded public bus. There was a time when I used to walk holding a stone in my hand if by chance I could not reach my PG before sunset. I'm not even counting staring and eve teasing as harresment. It becomes a part of your daily life for many Indian women. I'm not justifying it by any means. God forbid if you're from the Northeastern part of India you'll be treated as an easy and cheap woman. I'm not saying everyone is bad though. But this is the reality of India.

Thank you for not being angry towards the country because it really is wonderful and has so much to offer. I am just so mad the uneducated and disgusting MEN in it have to unfortunately create uncomfortable and disturbing situations. This is a real issue in India and thank you for speaking out about your incident. I am happy you still enjoyed some part of the trip and I hope you will still return one day and give India a second chance. Again, I am deeply sorry that this happened to you and I hope you were able to recover from the trauma of it and got the support you needed.
You must be ashamed to have perverted countrymen like this going around your country. Terrorising women. if they did these acts in Australia they would get lynched mobbed. By the goverment and the citizens.
what are you doing in India to prevent this from happening? and why is this actually happening? because it looks like you have a serious problem with people. Also, Indians are multiplying extremely fast. What's going on with you?
India is extremely unsafe for women of all ages and who wear any type of clothing - I live in an okay neighborhood here but I know gangs of men often roam about (say 4-5 km away) in bunches of 4-5 in giant SUV's looking for victims to harass. For many of them it's genuine fun. Lots of random men - so called decently dressed - often stalk or chase women for the thrill of bullying. Lots of rapes are often spur of the moment gang decisions. You just can't trust men here, unless thoroughly vetted. As a suggestion, I'd tell any woman traveler to not come here ever whether with bunch of people or alone. Oh and I am Indian myself, making it through :/

As an Indian, I want to apologise. I have severe PTSD having been born and lived here my entire life (in Delhi) of being touched, groped, commented on, stalked, etc. There are many a great things about India. Unfortunately, for women that goodness is masked by the creepy men here. So much so that even the good guys are looked at with an eye of suspicion. If you ever do decide to come back, come in a larger group and this time, try either the North-East or South India. They're much more civilised than us North Indians. I am sending you all the love and hugs I can muster. Stay safe and stay happy. :)

India is a population of around 1.3Billion people. And i think that we Indians who really wanna to do anything regarding this matter should do something. Like protest and please i think that every guy who is a rapist, his head should be cutted down and hanged at any corner of street. So that there will be a strictness. And many people do take advantage of our laws. So thats Why I want to be PM of India and if i get this chance once in my lifetime I will actually do it. Mark my words. Cmon we need to do something

For foreigners and especially women travelling alone, it is best to either not visit this country or visit calmer and relatively peaceful places here. Places like Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh Bihar etc should be a strict no no. People in North and Central India are the people with this sort of backward mentality and are highly uneducated. There are much better people and beautiful places in the north east of India or South India which is far better than the densely and overpopulated streets of Delhi.

So she stayed at a $10 hotel that is next to a brothel. It’s common sense you research before you book a hotel. This is not just India, it’s everywhere in the world. Millions come to India for tourism they at least live in a 3 star hotel. You don’t feel safe in United States too. No place is 100% safe. How can she blindly choose a cheap hotel and live alone? Ironic
I was sexually assaulted at the train station while on a group tour. Our tourist bus was also hijacked and windows smashed..we thought we were going to die. Alot of men (not all) have zero respect for women!! The behaviour and treatment is disgusting
First of all, very happy to hear you're safe and you acted smart going after your instincts by not opening the door. I have no words, seriously this makes me so sad. Biggest hugs for you!
Im an indian and i will never let any white female friend of mine travel or visit india alone, what i can understand is that few point that any white girl can keep in mind while coming to india is : 1. It is the second largest population in the world. 2. with that comes lots of social, economical, political, religious and psychological problems with residents. 3. in india sports is not as a form of entertainment or development, rather majority of population sticks to watching media, movies and stuff. 4. in indian movies whenever a white girl is depicted she is depicited as a sex symbol wearing skimpy dresses drinking dancing in bikinis behind the lead, making love scenes 5. Indian men unlike first world countries r not getting sex easily on weekends still men r denied of sex till they r married at age of 26, 28, prostitution is not legalized 6. Because of uneducation rampant poverty some times drug abuse in rural or metropolitan areas rape happens on daily bases even of little female child 7. Even the female who r in government running the country n can do something to rectify the errors says that a women should not b adventurous to the women who work late nights in metropolitan cities of india. 8. Im being an indian is always afraid about my sister or mother going out ALWAYS So if u r a white girl dont ever think of traveling india alone even our mothers and sisters who r born here r not safe....its a third world country
I am sorry you had such a terrible experience. Please mention the name of the hotel you were staying in. If a hotel discloses information like that and the management couldn't take care of the people constantly knocking, then they ought to be punished. Giving reviews and spreading the message through social media might help. But I am so glad you made this video and spoke up.
They were two separate hotels, actually, one Hotel Lalit, and the other, as I've gathered now, is Hotel Vishal (aka OYO Main Bazaar). The latter's the one where the harassment took place.
@Salman Khan you're severely mistaken. There is no place in America, at least, that you could be harassed like that in a hotel and the police would do nothing. They would be arrested on the spot.
@@pointeprincess302 lol just search women harrassment in USA. And ofcourse she is lying. Who the heck will lock herself up in a room for 3 days without food and water when you have a chance to leave. And then leave the property owned by the people you are allegedly saying that harrased her, only when its time for her flight back home.
A very similar incident occurred with a student who had come from Columbia to our college. She was at udaipur and the hotel people had invited her to a party at a terrace. When she reached there, there were just two men who tried to harrase her. She ran to her room, locked it, and she called one of us students. When the student called the hotel, they told him there's no guest by the name. Luckily there were some family members of the student around that area. They along with police went to the hotel, got her free. I am brother of two elder sisters, and since my teens I've been worried about my sisters. I thank you for sharing your story, you've helped put monsters in their right place, you've helped make India better for my sisters. I think generally southern countries have bigger problem about sexual harrasment/ rapes than northern countries. Not exactly about nationality. Even in europe you can see - southern europe men behaviours is completly different than nothern europe men.
Sorry to hear about your ordeal. I came to know about it through Karl Rock’s video. My advice to everyone is first not to reveal anyone including wherever you are staying is that that you have no access to outside help, like in your case, phone was not working, secondly you are dependent upon their mercy of getting wi fi connection and top of it, you were alone and by yourself only. It is very sad that people don’t have moral ethics and you went through mental trauma. May God bless you to come out of this soon.
I am an Indian and right now, I am ashamed of what you had to go through. I am embarrassed to the core. I recommend every Indian to watch this. If this doesn't embarrass you, I don't know what will. Majority of Indians do not understand the concept of personal space, especially that of a white woman. I am so sorry you had to go through this. Coming to how you reacted to the activities of those hooligans, I would like to say that you acted in the most mature way possible. I have lived in New Delhi for 26 years and I don't know anyone who would have reacted in such a sensible way. Every action that you took in such a situation was commendable, from not opening the door to leaving the hotel at 3 AM. Please don't blame yourself for anything. It is just the mentality of a few people that is to be blamed. At this point of time, it totally understandable if you dislike India a lot, maybe even hate us. But, in future, if you ever get the heart and mind to forgive us, please give us a chance to welcome you again.

This memory will not go away, never completely. It is a truly big trauma; you were basically besieged, yes besieged for 48 hours straight and fully aware of what would probably happen if that one door protecting you was opened. Your thoughts, habits, etc., will reform and reshape around it, and the trauma will eventually grow weaker, a bit like a myositis ossificans -- this is a blunt trauma I got from a 220-pound log during a competition that landed square on my left thigh in 2016; for four months I couldn't walk right, but then the lump of bony tissue in the belly of my thigh muscles got smaller and smaller. Even now I can feel a bit of a lump that's still there, but it no longer hurts and I'm fully able to do everything I was doing before this accident. A trauma will always change you one way or another. It's been five years now and I'm sure you're fine! It was very brave of you to get out of your room during the middle of the night, when those animals were sleeping.
It's sad but the assault is not just limited to foreigners, they don't even spare the women of their own country. I won't say every man is an assaulter but so many of them are. I am an Indian woman and I won't lie about the fact that INDIA IS SO UNSAFE FOR WOMEN.
Marie Saunders “Muslim.” I’m not a Muslim, but I have lived in an Islamic country and I’ve went to an Islamic school before, I’ve learned the Islamic culture and most of the Quran in English. There is a story of the prophet Mohammed when him and a friend that was *new* to Islam were together talking, and a beautiful woman came up to Mohammed to ask him about Islam, his friend looked at the woman in a weird way, so the prophet Mohammed told him to have a clean mind. These “Pakistani Muslims” aren’t true Muslims and would end up in hell for rape. Rape is 1092282727% not okay in Islam. The prophet would put the “cloth” thing on his head under his wife’s feet, as a sign of respect. :)

Hi I am from New Delhi, born here and I would like to tell you about mentality of men here , not all but some. In Delhi most of the boys think watching a beautiful girl going by and following them is a normal thing. Trying stalk her and trying hard to become super friendly. Most of them think that girls like it as they have seen many Bollywood movies and Punjabi songs video , which shows stalking a girl is alright thing. Delhi boys are mostly inspired by Punjabi song. They think having a car , girls roaming around them is called thug life which is cool according to them. I have many friends which have a routine time at evening which they spend so called tadane Ka time it means let's go and check out some girls. When I was around 14 year old , I thought what my friends were doing is not wrong as they have girlfriends with them . Which create a prescription in my mind that this is one of the way to girl. But after sometime I came to know this actually not a good thing .

Asian Indian Ethnic bloke, living in Australia as a citizen and a nationality. I am a Gen Z mid 20s. I have spent only a few years of my life in India as a resident for about 3-4 years and also a overseas tourist visiting home every now and then, to catch up with family and relatives every few years for about a week. As far as I am aware, because India is so chaotic, lacking a lot of organised system like here in Australia, navigating for me is quite a challenge. I remember that one time that I was told to buy groceries from the local supermarket just a few blocks away and it’s walking distance, I can tell you that I wasn’t feeling quite confident and comfortable and competent in my self at all. Probably because of lack of experience living in India, even during that small part of childhood. Given that you have had a terrible experience, and given that I do have some prior knowledge living in countries outside of India and understanding how cultural and demographic and complex dynamics plays its own part. Again this video only shows the bad experience which can happen to anyone, anything, anywhere, anyplace, anyone regardless if you’re a tourist or even a local, this doesn’t represent the entire demographic or cultural dynamics, aspects, factors and frameworks. Even if some destinations are rated safe and/or unsafe overall for any body including locals and/or tourists, always travel with someone if you can, it’s all about the just in case crisis unless you can figure it out and prepared by yourself as a solo traveller and/or local, by all means whatever works best for you, no matter who you’re and where you are on your journey and in life.
I wrote this about a yr ago but never posted, thought I would now:
Some FAQ:
Why not call police?

It has cost me a lot to share this. I still don't know exactly why, but I knew that it was very important for me to speak out about what happened. Thank you for listening.
Edited to add hotel names:
The hotel where I was trapped in the room was OYO Hotel on Main Bazaar Road, Delhi (now shut down! action taken!)
The hotel where they gave out my room number was the Lalit New Delhi in Connaught Place (action also taken! yes!)
There is an ongoing police investigation on both these matters. Both hotels have been contacted and upper management has been supportive. The employees are or have been removed.
Questions you guys have been asking a lot:
Why didn't I call the police? As I said, I had no usable phone or wifi to do so.
Why didn't the employees unlock the door with a master key? Thankfully the door locked from the inside, and there was also a big padlock outside the door that only I had the key to.
Why didn't I call the front desk? The hotel employees were the ones waiting for me outside my door. How was I to know who at the hotel to trust or not?
Thank you for all of your support!
Learn about demographics and crime please. AmRen.
Did you make a formal complain with the police or not?

No they aren't. Actually, the cows are just for show. They let them it dirt water, plastic etc.

WOMAN ARENT SAFE IN INDIA! The word needs to get out
DONT TRAVEL TO INDIA!!!
People need to know that they are in danger while ANYWHERE inside india.
People are afraid that saying things like this will hurt tourism.
BUT THEIR TOURISM NEEDS TO BE HURT
They need to feel the financial blow of losing most of their tourim.
That is the only way that things will change
When their politicians feel money fading away, they will INMEDIATELY TAKE ACTION
and hard change will occur, then once they implement huge changes tourism will come back in droves because india has a lot to offer for tourist but not as it is today
Indians are huge in numbers and are so insecure thts why

First rule of thumb when visiting India alone - never stay in cheap hotels or use cheap mode of transport. Always stay in mid- range or if you can afford, high-range hotels. If you're using trains to travel, always book 2nd class AC or 1st class AC seats. Never book sleeper couches.

Never.
You could walk the earth naked and nothing should ever happen to you (except a fine lol)
Remember this ❤️
Thank you for your comment... during my visit I found that many of the Italian people I encountered were very welcoming and kind.
THEN STOP.
Don't worry. I'm Italian and certain men are dangerous even for natives.
You did well acting calm and confident, it's always a good move.
@riri I feel really bad for what happened to you. wish I could punch on those inhumane morons face really hard. love and respect from the neighbor. Please don't go out alone, just have your brother or father with you or in group of girls.

@@Where_Is.H I know your kind all too well. I wasn't brought up in a society like yours where you learn to deceit people from your childhood. If you're smart enough you'll understand what I'm trying to imply.
I don't have a strong imagination to cook up stories like these. I'm not you. As for your question you guessed it right. I did approach the police but I got no help. One time they actually came to the site and all they did was repeat questions and persuaded us not to press charges against the person. Another time they said they'll send a PCR Van within 10 mins but the van never came even after repeatedly calling the police station. I did not, however, report each and every incident.
And kindly go out of my comment thread and read the comments on this video you'll know I'm not the only one suffering.

Gosh I am so sorry this happened to you. As a young Indian woman myself, I am ashamed of some of the men in India and the way they treat women and I am sorry that you were a victim of assault during your visit.

So you mean to say educated men do not commit crime.
what are you doing in India to prevent this from happening? and why is this actually happening? because it looks like you have a serious problem with people.
Oh and I am Indian myself, making it through :/
But do you mean as advice to not come to India at all?

1. It is the second largest population in the world.
2. with that comes lots of social, economical, political, religious and psychological problems with residents.
3. in india sports is not as a form of entertainment or development, rather majority of population sticks to watching media, movies and stuff.
4. in indian movies whenever a white girl is depicted she is depicited as a sex symbol wearing skimpy dresses drinking dancing in bikinis behind the lead, making love scenes
5. Indian men unlike first world countries r not getting sex easily on weekends still men r denied of sex till they r married at age of 26, 28, prostitution is not legalized
6. Because of uneducation rampant poverty some times drug abuse in rural or metropolitan areas rape happens on daily bases even of little female child
7. Even the female who r in government running the country n can do something to rectify the errors says that a women should not b adventurous to the women who work late nights in metropolitan cities of india.
8. Im being an indian is always afraid about my sister or mother going out ALWAYS
So if u r a white girl dont ever think of traveling india alone even our mothers and sisters who r born here r not safe....its a third world country

And first of all..How the he'll u think it's real.. OK.. And plus.. In West it's way high crime rate.. OK.. They even exchange sex for rent.. See BBC documentary.. Plz.. See statistics.. Reports.. Simply don't bluff.Coz these movies are influenced by West.. After 1991 after foreigners were allowed to invest in india.. See how cinema in india.. Changed.. (from 1990 only this item song and all came to full force.)
Stalking makes women uncomfortable..that they need to understand..
As an Indian, I totally agree this. We have seen worst than this. I would never suggest any female foreigner to travel alone....or just don't travel...it's not safe
