I remember seeing Fred Armisen do impressions of his SNL pals and when he got to Bill Hader his whole thing was that he was just getting into bands that were big 30 years ago. After watching this, I can totally see that.
Zappa, Bowie, De La Soul, Minutemen, Bad Brains, Thee Oh Sees, Art Blakey & Thelonious Monk, horror movies, documentaries, etc. This is, for sure, one of the greatest selections of any What's in My Bag? episode. And, on top of that, Bill is just the most genuine person. I love people who geek out like this.

There is nothing more profound that making an obscure reference aloud and having someone interpret it immediately and that moment creating a connection. Bill seems really cool and definitely put me on to some cool new stuff!
I knew before even clicking on this that it would be a wonderful mix of eclectic taste. Both him and Fred have always amazed me with their extensive knowledge and taste of SO MANY great shows, movies, bands, songs, actors, comedy, you name it. It makes a lot of sense being in the industry and all but it's always refreshing when you see that passion doesn't escape people after they've struck fame.
I started my daughter young on the misfits too!! And now she wants to be a stand up comedian and loves john mulaney and bill hader so freakin much!! I guess thats kindof a full circle moment??!!🤔🤔😂😂🤘🤘
One of the things I remember about the fabulous Vincent Price from my childhood, in the late 50s, & 60s, is that he appeared in the Sears and Robuck catalogs, Christmas issues, promoting this weird ribbon like hard candy. There was a huge picture of him, with this sinister smile, holding the candy. As a kid I thought the candy might be poisonous because of the look on his face.

Bad brains are the greatest rock and roll band of all time! Im never surprised when someone is a bad brains fan! They started out as a jazz fusion band, which is why theyre so exact, they helped invent hardcore and made it an exact science! Good stuff!!!
For him to go get Live as a second choice is perfect. Whenever I get a wild hair to go back and here some Bad Brains, it is Live. It's full of fiery versions. Hits like a truck. It's so good!
