    Thank you for the demo!!! Super helpful. I loved the super dry crisp sound of the SD kit and think it could work well in a studio mix where you want to isolate instruments. AD sounded better on its own though. The sound of the SD kit can be made more wet with effects in the DAW.

      You're welcome, and yes you're right, SD is designed and intended to be fully mixed and mastered by professionals as a dry signal. However AD is designed to be good 'out the box' for just throwing on a track without much mixing needed.

    Can you go through an in depth tutorial on how you did these covers?
    I have a TD-15 and AD2 that I'd like to do covers with, but there's not a good tutorial on what to do.
    I can connect the TD-15 to AD2 standalone, but the sounds are "distant" unlike when I just use the module itself. Also, I get a lot of double triggers in AD2 but not with the module. If you could go in depth on your process, that'd be amazing

      I did do an updated 'how to' for superior here ua-cam.com/video/q7-R_oHZtgU/v-deo.html but from the sounds of it you probably want to adjust the volume of the VST up, I notice SD3 is pretty quiet (i think its default is -12db) so turning it up does help. With regard to double triggers I think thats to do with crosstalk, I get it as well, I'm not sure if theres a setting for it in SD3 Itself but your module automatically corrects that, so I'll have to look into SD3 a bit more to see if theres a crosstalk setting.

      @@KeroDean Personally I disagree regarding the tweaking, considering how many presets come with Superior Drummer 3
      When I bought the program I was pretty blown away by how many usable presets it comes with that are accessible only by the click of a button. The fact that there are so many different professionally mixed sounds and kits right in the box makes it indeed superior for me personally. AD2 is amazing and definitely great, but out of the box SD3 is equally as good

    • @KeroDean
      @KeroDean  2 роки тому +1

      @@Andoroid I absolutely agree, SD is superior in many ways and is better depending on your needs (and hard drive space lol). I find that AD works best for me and is light on the hard drive but SD is amazing if you have a good enough computer, large HD and all the kits available to you and are ready to mix the volumes. For me SD, specially the kick were really low volume so required a bit of tweaking.

      @KeroDean  2 роки тому

      Thanks, both of these are actually pretty similar in terms of accuracy and naturalness. I lean towards AD because it sounds the best 'out of the box' without needing to tweak the sound much. SD3 is probably the most realistic and the largest library that has the most articulate sounds, but you have to install a large hard drive of samples to get it, and then really play with the EQ and levels to get it sounding how you want. So I think SD3 for the final mix but AD for just playing on the go the least setup time

    SD3 by a huge margin is my favorite. AD2 is a super great piece of software too. They do different things and have the perks and drawbacks. AD2 takes like 15gb, and SD3 with all I have for it is like 150gb, so that’s something to consider.
    What you’re getting for that extra space though is infinitely more control sonically and infinitely better sounding articulations + the ability to control bleed for every channel and where it’s going, multiple room mics, ambience mics, overheads, and the in/outs for every channel + higher quality source material.
    That being said AD is great for getting an “out of the box” sound with lots of processing applied to already processed source material giving them a more forward and “mix ready” sound which is why I think a lot of people here prefer the sound in this demo (tho imo you picked a terrible SD3 preset and if you mixed it yourself I apologize 😂). AD2 is quick and easy the only issue I have are the very limited hat articulation and the overall mushy sound as pretty much every preset is being smashed to make them sound big, but in turn they sound pretty flabby a lot of the time so I recommend turn the compression off on each channel which is kinda annoying af. the compressor in general in AD2 sounds like poop.
    Overall I love both software they’re both great products AD2 is light and easy and SD3 is insanely high quality and flexible for those who want to dive in and get basically the best drum sounds possible with software if you know what you’re doing.
    We live in good times to have both of these high quality accessible products

    • @KeroDean
      @KeroDean  Рік тому

      Absolutely agree, and just to clarify, and for fairness, I chose the first preset in SD3 and deliberately did not edit it or teak it to show what it sounds like 'out of the box'. Although as you say, its not really designed as an out of the box but I just wanted to be a fair and 'untouched' kind of comparison. Because if you start taking any of them you can make them sound better than they do 'out of the box'

    The thing some people need to consider is if you're doing manual drum programming, most of the stuff you hear is people not putting any effort into shaping the dynamics, velocity, or timing of it. So when you hear people program this crazy fast metal stuff with blast beats and 300 bpm double bass, it's probably going to favor something like SD3, that's the target market of their product let's be honest. Most metal drums are compressed and EQ'd in a way that makes it sound very even and hard hitting. I've used both AD and SD and since I can't play drums in real life that well, dynamic drum programming sounds MUCH better and realistic with Addictive drums. I'm not even using the most recent version.

    i don't think there is much to debate about which one sounds better, both has tons of good drum sound, but you will choose SD 3 if you like to get better experience of audio processing, and more ability to customize of your drumset. also there is so many groove to tweaks available on SD 3. With AD 2 you can also have possibility to control the sound but more limited. I like to use AD 2 because in much smaller files you get so many good things just right there, if you are a songwriter that can play drum or prefer human to play drum for you, i think AD 2 is for you. But if you can't play drum but wanna to have drum on your mix right away, SD 3 groove will help you more. And if you're a producer, you might also like the ability to control audio using SD 3.

I know both Software products inside out, have all the libraries, AD2 is just as good and lighter on the SSD 11 GB's vs. 100's of GB's of bloated copies... And lighter on the pocket book somewhat, but not much. I have ways around that one though
      - (AD2 ... Yes, it's not as good -as- is "right out of the box" "Nor virtually as pretty as SD3") -
      But... but.... you have to tweak settings, TONY THE FUCKME TIGER TWEAKIN' A LOT OF TWEAKIN' Dude...and it takes months if not longer to learn the ins and outs of sliders and knobs complete functionality
      (Drinking game for every time I type "functionality")
      ...and that is working with it every day, mind you) Also keep in mind that there are multiple Special effects settings… 2 knobs lower right, by master volume in AD2 . It took a long time for me to understand how effective those 2 actually are. And I'm lazy... it took me sooooooooooooooooooooooooo loooooooooooooooooooooooooong!

They discontinued support of the original Addictive Drums in 2014, forcing users who had already paid for it to upgrade to AD2 if they updated their OS past high Sierra. I just went through a battle with their marketing manager over this through email after updating to Mojave and losing 400$ in software / adpaks and them refusing to budge.
