    It's really great to see that you managed to get such an amazing sound for a Gary Novak track, while in fact using all cymbals, toms and the hi hat from the Metal drum kit within Addictive drums. The bass drum chosen (Premier Gen X) is from the Modern Jazz Sticks kit and the snare (Ludwig Acrolite) from the modern soul kit. Lesson learned: customize kit parts rather than using the prefab kits. Thank you Austin for the great review!

    I use AD2 with my e-drum (Alesis DM10 X Mesh) and it is great. I highly recommend to anyone. I have only used the Funk, Jazz sticks and Studio Rock kits so far but the customization is so vast that those 3 are enough for me.

      Thanks for this suggestion. The entire time I am watching this video I am thinking to myself "Ok, great but where did the solo originally come from!?" So did he play this on an e-kit and transcribe it into Addictive Drums?

    Hi Austin,
    I dig all your videos, thanks for doing them. I do a lot of transcribing in Logic as well. When you installed AD2, did you have to go in and manually map the kits as MIDI instruments in Logic, or does it do that natively? In other words, do you have to use the kit builder in the plugin, create a kit, then port it into Logic so you can choose it in the MIDI environment, so it's available to choose (among Bluebird, Brooklyn, East Bay, etc.) or is AD2 handling all of that parallel to Logic and you just choose AD2 from the Library and control all of it in the plugin? Sorry, I'm sure I worded that more confusing than I needed to.

    I’m a a producer piano player and I use Addictive Keys as my main piano VST and I love it, it’s easy to use. I would want to try out Addictive Drums, considering buying a it. A question, can you drag in your own samples in Addictive Drums?

  • @thaidozy

    Great review. I'm a bit new to this stuff but I have a Roland td30kv and I'm looking to replace the kits with something more "real" sounding. I've recorded a heap of tracks with my band and not too happy with the drum sounds, cymbals in particular. Do you think this plug in or the Addictive trigger would be more appropriate? Thanks for any help you can offer.

    I love Addictive Drums 2 but I`m still confused about the correct recording procedure. Is it necessary to record the overheads with the background sounds from the other instruments? and the Room? Up to now, I have been recording the overheads in a separate 2nd take, while muting all the other instruments. I also ignore the Room and Bus takes. This way I record a clean sound from every instrument including the overheads. Later, in my DAW I introduce the bus reverbs, parallel compression, etc.

      Ive been playing with both almost since the begining of they both. For music recording I fell that Superiro blends better, if you want to play live, go for Addictive, No one will notice the diference from a live drum

      I like Addictive for both - Here's something you might think about doing. I use Drum (and others) plugins from Waves goo.gl/tROp4e they can actually improve the sound so much so quickly I say it's a must Specifically Chris Lord-Alge CLA series. Check them out... OH and do check out NLS Non-Linear Summer...you want great sounding drums thats the trick...

    awesome review!! i really want to get a software so i can make quality recordings and i think this one might be the one to get because of the simplicity of the software. my knowledge on softwares and recording is little to nothing and this software seems like everything is simple and there. thanks for the review on it once again 😄

    Hi, I wanted to ask you: how can I do to check the RIDE and CRASH on the XLN or DAW mixer? Scrolling on Flex 1, 2 and 3 I can't find neither the Ride nor the Crash, let alone a direct slide to mix them. Can you help me? I also wanted to ask you about the instrumental content of the slide BUS on the Addictive mixer. Thanks bye..

    nice interface ! i use superior drummer... the interface isnt so clean like this, but awesome sound !
    i like also in sd2, the variation ofvelocity settings.. and "soft velocity limit"for each instrument for a
    nice feel on my E drum.

    How did you get the drum names to be visible in Piano Roll? My "drum Names" is greyed out.

  • @ddummer
    @ddummer 7 років тому

    Only downside with AD is the hihat controller... Superior drums got a much better trigger algo where it acts after the hit where AD only respond when you hit and after that you do not get any useful foot action where it simply won´t flow as good when you play live on an e-kit. But AD is the only plug I use for drums and I love it every day. :)

    How do you save your customised kit? It seems no one talks about that and to me it's probably the most important thing. I can't imagine anything worse than spending hours putting this thing together and then losing the settings.

    Thanks for the review! Quick question for you, reason why I even looked at 3rd party drum plugins is because I want to control the open and close of the hi hat to simulate how hard you are stepping on the hi hat pedal. I have the demo but I cant seem to find how to do it.

    I use AD 2 as a stand alone with my Alesis DM 10 kit. . I like it very much. But every time I turn off the program I lose my drum assignments. I have to reassign my drums every time I restart the program. What am I doing wrong or missing?

    • @ElevenBravo
      @ElevenBravo 5 років тому

      @hogan0407 I use AD 1 w/ my DM6. You need to Save your Map assignments and then Load them the next time you restart the program. Click the ? question mark to the right of Beats and choose Map Window. Do your mapping as needed, then use the drop-down under Map Preset in that window and do a Save As.. name it something descriptive. Next time you start the program, return to that Map Window and use the same Map Preset drop-down and choose Load. I have about a dozen mappings for my DM6 that I manage that way.

    You shouldnt have done the single drum demoing while in start up setting. You have the fx and compression optimal for whatever the load kit is. Everything is swimming in reverb

    i use AD2 and love it, but i never use as many grace notes in quick succession as you have in the solo you transcribed. i'm surprised at how badly the grace notes are machine-gunning in the first example.

    • @xxsayabetoxx
      @xxsayabetoxx 7 років тому

      those are part of the rudimental rolls that most good jazz players use. theyre not supposed to be grace notes

    • @noisyneil
      @noisyneil 7 років тому +2

      i'm a drummer and i call any stroke in a roll, that isn't an accent, a grace note. the lighter velocities don't sound natural when played consecutively at high tempo.

    • @xxsayabetoxx
      @xxsayabetoxx 7 років тому +1

      noisyneil im a drummer as well and that jazz solo is pretty sick. if youve heard buddy rich or gene krupa you should know why

    • @noisyneil
      @noisyneil 7 років тому +1

      i agree. it's a great solo. i love The Man From Planet Jazz (1980 at Ronnie Scotts), in case you haven't heard it. it's cool because there's wah trumpet, chorused slap bass and buddy going crazy.
      i wasn't dissing the part...

    • @XiyuYang

      It's very small for a sample library, compared to 230GB of Superior Drummer 3.

      Nope, some symphonic libraries from VSL and Spitfire can stack up to 500 gigs and they would rather send you a hardrive with everything on it rather than you downloading it.
