I LOVE that this combination happened. I've been following both of these creators "Colin and Samir" and "The Bucket List Family" for years and love that they combined. GREAT Interview. Thanks Jessica and Garret for inspiring families.
I’m a follower of this family. I’m not on any other social media. They truly come across as authentic and genuine, not showy or preplanned. They are super smart and adventurous. I wish all of us watching could live lifestyles like this.
Them and the Crosby family. (Which is a shock learning that they are friends. Well, mostly their little girls….) Not to pick favorites but who do you like more?
I LOVED Jessica‘s comment at the end that Garrett was and is only able to live this freely because she is doing so much other every day work..♥️ so often forgotten. But it shows your balanced relationship, guys. Love you 😊
Yeah, there were times I was uncomfortable because she seemed left on the sidelines and it was all about him him him and his company. But clearly they are working as team members and doing a great job of it. I do wish she didn’t have to force yourself into the conversation and was more invited, and that when she said something, her husband didn’t just keep going on as if she hadn’t spoken. I guess nothing in life is perfect and maybe it just says more about me than it does about them.
i could listen to this podcast episode over and over. thank you so much for featuring garrett and jess, ive been following their family for years and it’s so great to watch them talk so openly and comfortably about their story as visionaries, entrepreneurs and family influencer who makes positive impact to the world. truly inspiring.
I found it super refreshing to hear a creator acknowledge 1.7mil was a life changing amount of money and yet still not enough for comfortable early retirement. demonstrates a great understanding of finances.
Had the opportunity to interview Garrett back in 2012 when I was still a student. Incredible energy and vision, down to earth - still the same guy. Great podcast!
1:14:14 COLIN AND SAMIR’S FACE ONCE THEY SAY THE AMOUNT RAISED 😂😂😂 Their face was exactly like mine. Mind blowing. Cutting to their face made me laugh so hard.
Thank you for having The Bucket List family on your show. I follow them and have enjoyed them for years. I appreciate your thoughtfulness for them and I learned a lot about them
Just finished this almost 2.5 hr movie. The host/moderator did an excellent job with the types of questions asked and really went below the surface with their thoughtful questions. You can tell they did their research prior and lead insightful discussion. Jess and Garrett provided thorough answers to sometimes personal questions. Looking forward to hearing more details of this Nat Geo and BLS deal.🙌
Let’s Gooooo. I been ready since day 1. I saw the twinkle in your eyes, explaining all the reasons why not to invest. I remembered that they very clearly, the count down to invest in this amazing dream. We had taken an RV vacation to Oregon with my family and I was so afraid I was going to miss it because it is so hard to get reception in the wilderness. So I woke up super early that morning and made my husband drive us round to the nearest gas station to make sure we got reception. I was telling him “you don’t understand you got to find me internet reception” Lol “you have no idea this family is great and I believe in them and we’re investing” I can’t wait to share the good news today.
I've enjoyed following since 2017. I was so glad to have our family as part of the crowdfunding effort. Thanks for your intentional work. People saying your kids are out there, their whole life- not true. So many things we dont see. As a parent of 2 who are grown- there's a lot more to it than what we see. Love your content and thank you for bringing us along.
Loved this podcast episode with Garrett and Jessica! Thank you for sharing their story and the next chapter with The Bucketlist Family! It is so amazing to see how much they continue to do!
❤💚💙 I really love this interview. Amazing. I really get emotional with the updated. Thanks for the Words for your love for your community. I am so happy to be a part of it. ❤ love u
Samir bringing up the FTC regulations for YT v Traditional Media is SUCH a good point. Literally changes the basic psychology of how people interact with your content when that's disclosed
They are so open and transparent about everything. i love their stories. i could listen to them forever. Wow this was an amazing interview and just flowed. u could have been sitting at a cafe in the park really. I am 50 years old, been a government researcher contract for over 10 years...only now while jobless I am thinking 'i need to declutter my hoard of a messy room - maybe I should film it and put it on youtube!' They are so pure, I am so glad they followed their hearts, because we need more people like this family.
I loved that this interview distinguished how the Bucket List Family is aspirational re: family time. That is their secret sauce - quality content that inspires you to connect with your loved ones and turn any little thing into an adventure.
This was a reall great interview! Been following the Bucket List Family for many years, but I gotta say the two interviewers were amazing as well, great questions, great balance, great vibes. Enjoyed this a lot! Thank you
What a incredible interview. Thank you for your excellent questions and thoughtful responses and thanks for Jess and Garrett for sharing so much! I actually saw a couple of their videos prior to seeing this interview, and I'm not exactly their demographic (for their videos) but I am interested in the business side and have a business partner with whom I am developing a start-up... because of this interview I feel more confident than ever that with the hard work we intend to put in, we will succeed. I appreciate you guys. I do hope you've both managed to settle into new homes... and I hope you'll both be able to rebuild and live down the street from one another, again soon.
The content they make is aspirational but it is motivating, watching the videos, in addition to being humanly super pure, they are like a father telling you that you are good. motivating you, loving you. It feels like home in the most tender and simple way it can be. Beyond all the opulence of their trips there, the children are simply playing ball or learning about whales, I don't know, it's really enjoying the simple things in life like family.
Learned of Bucket List from this. I would be very interested in their kids books. I travel a lot with my 3 young kids, like recently driving across the country to show them the total eclipse. Experiences are priceless and I believe are key to raising well rounded children.
timestamp 8:46-17:27 is easily the best part of the interview! what a story, nothing like hearing stories of others getting there lifes changed in a instant
We came from UA-cam only , not from instagram . My husband got so inspired by you guys that he wanted to travel and live life! & yes ,go to gym / exercise , play basketball, run:) 3 & 6 years old kids , much love to your family from New York❤
I love hearing about youtubers with interesting backgrounds that I have no clue about. This was very interesting similar to that of the fake tom cruise guy. Great job, continue getting youtubers from really different genres.
They are sooo brave, wild, heart followers yet at the same time grounded, humble, frugal too. it's amazing to have 1.25mill in the bank and to tell themselves to mentally sort of forget about it. I am so in awe of them.
FINALLY!! This channel has been a bigger inspiration and fantastic experience I've enjoyed on UA-cam! I don't have Instagram so this is the only way I know them. Loved this interview and that so many more people are exposed to them! Thank you Colin and Samir!
Garrett saying that he just posted his family videos and actually the viewers have put their kids in the public eye is crazy. Also the kids having their own Instagram pages so he can "save photo a day"... Those could be private, but they are not. He is the one putting them out there. They are positioning that fact that the kids don't understand how many people watch them as a good thing. No, these kids don't understand right now but they will one day. Their whole life early life is out there on the internet.
I totally stopped listening when the conversation got to this point. Not knowing them at all, I thought I was watching a smarter family but it’s even worse than most of these family vloggers. The stupidity of that argument blows my mind.
How good is the quality? It takes me 5 separate sessions to finish this podcast, and I deliberately come back to finish it each day. Thank you for your work. 🤗
She's so charming! Right off the bat. "Can I tell you a story? You don't have to put this in." And CTA works. I subbed when Samir said it. I didn't realize I wasn't subscribed.
whattttttt? I never thought this day would come! So that´s the big thing Garett announced in his story yesterday. I can´t believe it! Whatttt? Two of my favorite UA-cam channels connected! btw Garett and Jess your story is so amazing! Love your book!
Colin & Samir, you guys are so good at allowing others to tell their story. Thank you for the episode and your insightful questions that lead to deep discoveries with each guest!
I have not followed them but I follow The Traveling Child. And as a mom of one, I have so much respect for parents who can haul their kids around the planet and call it fun. My kid has traveled a fair bit with her parents, but as much fun as it has been, it really changes the kind of fun I would have as a parent. So hats off to this family
Thank you for bringing back the family unity. I am 73 and you have brought back the memories of my childhood and I am praying for what you are doing will touch many and bring back the family closeness and openness to see each others talents and to being supportive of one another. How I came to watch your family be your sweet Dorothy became friends with Claire Cosby. I started watching Claire when she was between two and three years old on UA-cam. I can continue to follow her and her family as I do your family. God bless you all.
Such a refreshing chat -- completely different life journey than the one I'm on and yet felt so many moments resonated with me (especially the 2nd gen/ entrepreneur logic - I scored 19/20 on that test lol!) Thank you guys for another fantastic interview!!💫
I like how they compliment each other! I like how supportive they are to each other & he is very morale guy and the wife. I like how he thinks & what they prioritize and at the end of the DAY its FAMILY THAT MATTERS.
I have followed the TheBucketList family from the beginning and love them. I get to see places with them that I know I would never have seen if I hadn’t followed them ❤
Just when i thought Family vlogging was dead... then i watch this. I film my vlog to leave these memories to go back on and watch later, and its good to see another family have the same purpose.
Awesome to hear about other channels outside of the "normal UA-cam bubble." There's plenty of 1 mil sub+ channels that aren't talked about much. Eamon & Bec would be a good one to bring on considering Becs battle with cancer, living in a van for 5+ years, and slowing down on YT now that they have a baby.
I have been a bucket list subscriber since they had I think 16 or 20 subscribers - my son is 10 now and when he was a toddler he would ask if we could watch “family travels” - I love their story - so grateful for their bravery! 🎉
Great pod until around 55:00. Did they really try to claim that they didnt put their kids in the public eye but rather their audience did? Makes it sound like the audience is holding them at gunpoint to publish their children, and completes ignored the fact that they are no-longer “documenting their kids life for the sake of journaling” but rather are documenting their kids life for profit
You can journal by taking photos and keeping them on your camera roll, like the rest of the world does. This is no hate to family bloggers. But in general that argument is bogus and you know it, just own up to it
Totally fair! But from a parental perspective, he’s potentially setting them up for life with an amazing head start, same concept as a college fund, but the cost is publicity which may or may not be worth it, time will tell. But at least they can shut it off whenever they or the children want! Building a platform and following is hard work so I think it’s incredibly entrepreneurial to make this ability while they have the shot. I’d have been grateful if my parents had given me that opportunity as a child, as long as they are not forced or pressured which is clearly not the case for them all! Most people have to do a lot worse to make a living.
@@PhilipBlank what your saying totally makes sense. And that’s why I mostly don’t blame parents who make that decision. It’s definitely an understandable move to make The least they could do is be upfront about it. Like if you want to set up your kids for life that’s completely fine, just don’t act like what you’re doing is only to “journal their lives” and you’re just conveniently making money of it. That’s the icky part for me. (this part doesn’t apply to these guys in particular) It’s hard for me personally to overlook the fact that these family vlog kids are now basically this generations child stars, minus all of the protections the law offers to child actors. So just found it a lil strange how these concerns were addressed in such a small segment of the interview and with such an unconvincing response
The problem with family vloggers and same with any child entertainment role is that the children don't have the benefit of knowing what they are exchanging from their youth for this fame. Once you are a public figure, you can never undo it. The Internet lives on forever. Kids don't have the benefit of hindsight. They haven't acquired life experiences to judge against. That said, if children have to be paraded in front of the public, the very least they can do is definitely be allowed to say no and have their parents respect that wish and boundary. This family seems grounded and respectful of their children but we don't really know these people beyond how they portray themselves. Also, I think it's different if a child expresses an interest in being in the public eye. As a parent, I would still monitor their activities and their well-being but I think it's different if being a vlogger is child-initiated. They still don't have the life experiences to fully understand this request but at least they chose it for themselves. Anyway, just my opinion. @@PhilipBlank
This family is so wonderful!! It gives me all the good feelings just watching them talk 💙💗✨ from a long time follower/investor in the Bucket list Family.
Never heard of this family before but I'm checking them out now. Love this guys. I also found Cleo Abram because of you. keep on interviewing everyone!
Such a helpful episode from the entrepreneur perspective. I’ve been a fan of the bucket list fam forever but this has been extremely helpful from a fellow entrepreneur perspective.
Wow, thank you so much for this interview. It's my favorite on yet. I've never watched their videos before and only have heard of them, but what an amazing life, relationship, and family they have. These people are very inspiring!! :)
@@KatieLogen I mean kind of but not really. He even says they won out mostly through SEO. Lots of apps did it, but they were best at grabbing the customers. The tech itself wasn't really the groundbreaking part, it was the user acquisition. Marketing is a huge chunk of any business' success.
All of them are the kind of people that really understand and value what they do for a living. And they are so tuned in with everything they have and want to achieve that it makes me feel like im watching video that's 20 years ahead of the game. Such a good perspectives, such a great minds and thoughts🤩 I am amazed 👏👏👏
I've watched this video in bits and pieces ever since it came out. I love the Bucket List Family and all that they do and value! This is the first video I've seen of Colin and Samir, but they seem super genuine and so normal, which is not what I had expected. Thank you! Thumbs up from me :)
I remember watching that Shark Tank episode & thinking this app will never get $1m for 5%. I’m surprised Snapchat bought him out. Good for him, the stars aligned
wow, great episode. Big fan of the BLF but usually don't have time to watch all their vids. It was awesome and inspiring to hear their back story and future plans.
Their story is such a wonderful one! They are truly living the dream. Their recognition that money doesn’t equal happiness and that family is what means the most resonates with me. Enjoy the ride and thank you for taking us with you @TheBucketListFamily!
First time on your channel watching this vid. I have never watched a 2+ hour video on UA-cam. This was SO enjoyable and an absolute pleasure to watch and listen to. You guys are great interviewers. Fantastic questions but also a fantastic ability to let the conversation organically float. Great job! New sub for sure.
Great interview by you two guys of two very special, gifted, intelligent, beautiful and inspiring people. Thank all four of you for putting this out here. 🥰
This is a fantastic family. They are kind, good people. Kind people that follow them care about every aspect of their family. People that aren't kind or happy are the ones crabbing at them about what they do. I hope they ignore those people and just know how good and kind they are and how happy they make some people. I can't get even out of the house much because of my health. They are my inspiration to want to get to the point that I can travel to at least my few bucket list states. I love their channel. I did find them through Instagram. I watch them and then I watch art videos from the artists that I know and that's pretty much it. Thank you SO much for hosting them!!
CoIin & Samir I have never watched your channel before. I came to this cos I watch Vanwives from Vanwives I followed Max & Occy. From there I watched Max on Eamon & Becs podcast & they mentioned the Bucket List Family & the name drew me in so I checked them out & then saw this. Fascinating! I love their outlook on life. Family comes first.
I have a family travel channel as well. This interview was both very motivating and also a tiny bit frustrating. But definitely interesting! Thank you 🙌
You guys make such awesome content, and this was certainly one of my favourite videos. My issue is half the time I have no idea who people are, so I find myself clicking on different videos in my feed, this one was no different, other than I just figured I’d give it a shot because it you two and I’m very happy I did.
🔥2 Main Takeaway: 1) People on Reddit question why Snap acquired them. The truth is that a product with traction is key. That is a skill in itself that can add to growth. 2) Many a large sum of money but don't splurge on the unnecessary. This way you have financial freedom. for life.
Aaah, NatGeo, exciting! I love that the Studios will have travel at the core through this partnership. Ps. 101 Dalmatians is one of my all time fave’s so 2024 would have been totally ok Garrett :)
What a fascinating insight into the opportunities available for UA-cam creators to pivot into 'traditional entertainment'. Building your brand and audience is what it's all about!
English was not my native language… but this confersation grasp my attention to the point that I listen it full without skiping on it. Garret is genius and down to earth… love you guys… and you make me regret not investing on your company since I reside in Asia and I thought it was impossible to me to invest. Maybe next time I just jump to my gut feeling to decide
Wow! I didn't realize they have this amazing story, and much more to come. Their channel inspired me to convince my husband to sell everything and travel. Full-time travel doesn't work for us right now, but I still love exploring the world through our daughter's eyes.
great podcast..wonderful info.......love the family and their adventures exposing the kids to so many different things wildlife, culture, nature ..so much.........living a good life and making amazing memories with the kids!!!!
Why did I cry though when you talked about signing the contract with your kids when they got home from school?! So much hard work, that pays off! So inspiring!
THANK YOU for hosting us! You are wonderful wonderful!

Exactly how I feel, he doesn’t let her speak and she is a big part of the success of the family!!
She can make videos and editing and he does the every day works.
No he'd be just fine..
This podcast has introduced me to many huge creators (1M+) that I didn't even know existed

I couldn’t love the bucket list family more! Instant happiness and inspiration. This was a great video - thanks!
And I’m a lucky investor! Got my necklace
It’s definitely an understandable move to make
The least they could do is be upfront about it. Like if you want to set up your kids for life that’s completely fine, just don’t act like what you’re doing is only to “journal their lives” and you’re just conveniently making money of it. That’s the icky part for me.
(this part doesn’t apply to these guys in particular)
It’s hard for me personally to overlook the fact that these family vlog kids are now basically this generations child stars, minus all of the protections the law offers to child actors. So just found it a lil strange how these concerns were addressed in such a small segment of the interview and with such an unconvincing response
@@ngweso Totally agree with you here.
54 Million on a QR code scanning app is absolutely hitting the lottery. Wow.
Easy to say now that every phone camera can scan a QR code. 10+ years ago that was unique technology.
@@KatieLogen I mean kind of but not really. He even says they won out mostly through SEO. Lots of apps did it, but they were best at grabbing the customers. The tech itself wasn't really the groundbreaking part, it was the user acquisition. Marketing is a huge chunk of any business' success.
Something isnt right on this world... when ppl dying w/o water in 2024
All of them are the kind of people that really understand and value what they do for a living. And they are so tuned in with everything they have and want to achieve that it makes me feel like im watching video that's 20 years ahead of the game. Such a good perspectives, such a great minds and thoughts🤩
I am amazed 👏👏👏
I've watched this video in bits and pieces ever since it came out. I love the Bucket List Family and all that they do and value! This is the first video I've seen of Colin and Samir, but they seem super genuine and so normal, which is not what I had expected. Thank you! Thumbs up from me :)
I remember watching that Shark Tank episode & thinking this app will never get $1m for 5%. I’m surprised Snapchat bought him out. Good for him, the stars aligned
I really appreciate the transparency this interview had! It's so much easier to understand their decisions. Love it!
wow, great episode. Big fan of the BLF but usually don't have time to watch all their vids. It was awesome and inspiring to hear their back story and future plans.
Side note: Can we bring back the old C&S intro song? It's so iconic and it feels off that it's just gone
Much needed
That song used to get my so stoked for their videos 😢
Great conversation to listen to and one of your best vids yet!
Thank you. They are the most authentic married couple I have ever seen.
So inspiring and gave me tears to hear the story of the amazing partnership of this couple and family. What a phenomenal story!
I have been following this family since 2016! 💗 Thank you for having them onto share some of their story with all of us. 💞
What beautiful people you all are , such a pleasure to listen to your stories ...
This was super interesting, what an incredible journey they've been on, so much to learn from them
Great interview by you two guys of two very special, gifted, intelligent, beautiful and inspiring people.
This episode made me discover both your channel and The Bucket List Family, and THANK YOU! What a story, and I got so motivated!
I love these guys. I can't believe you got them on!
The amount of business acumen here is insane. What a great interview.
Came here from the bucket list family video link! Great conversation! Will definitely checkout more of your videos.
I have a family travel channel as well. This interview was both very motivating and also a tiny bit frustrating. But definitely interesting! Thank you 🙌
Wow what an amazing episode!
This way you have financial freedom. for life.
Love your podcast guys, not only for its content and you as great creators but I discovered so many talented people. Keep it up!
Congratulations Jess and Garrett! Nat Geo is the perfect house for BL! ❤️🎉
Just beautiful. Loved watching ❤
I love the interview, now I’ve learned the deeper side of them ❤❤❤
Aaah, NatGeo, exciting!
Love this!!!! They are theeee sweetest!! 😍
One of my favorite interviews so far!
